Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House - Review - Santa Monica - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"When we learned that P.F. Changs in downtown Santa Monica had closed, we were a little sad. That location was an institution (and one of our favorite places to eat lunch and never tell a soul). So when we heard that Lotus Dim Sum was taking over the space, we got excited. It’s nice that another Chinese option moved in, and as much as we love P.F. Changs’ lettuce cups, Lotus thankfully isn’t a chain. Finally a proper dim sum prospect on the Westside! But unfortunately, this sprawling dumpling spot right next to the Promenade is a letdown. The XLB dough is too thick, the shrimp in the shumai and rice rolls taste like microwave, and the dumplings and buns are forgettable. Oh well." - Arden Shore

Have been craving dim sum for a while now and I finally got my cravings satisfied at here! You must order Har Gow, Sui Mai, Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls, and egg tarts when at dim sum. At least those are my must-order items. I love how Lotus has a wide selection of dim sum options. If you are not in the mood for dim sum, no worries they have a selection for lunch as well ranging from noodles to rice and vegetable sides like spicy braised tofu and string beans. The options are endless! If you’re ever in the area, highly recommend checking them out!

Lotus is one of our favorite places to get food because the whole menu is healthy, flavorful , many dishes come with vegetables! Happy hour menu is great as well: I recommend crispy honey shrimp that comes with steamed broccoli! Soup dumplings are juicy and tender, we normally get a double of those🔥the portion of roasted Brussels sprouts is big and great for 3 people as an appetizer. Cucumber salad is a bomb! Great portions and fair prices. If you love light healthy food Lotus is the spot for it!

What an absolute amazing place to go for lunch or dinner! We went during lunch and everything was superb! If you are ever in the area I highly recommend it! Definitely get their curry Singapore style noodles! Everything else we got was: Crispy pepper calamari Chicken pot stickers Truffle salmon rolls Beef fried rice Shrimp in lobster sauce Pork xiao long Bao I literally can’t wait to go back!

If you love Dim Sum you need to visit this spot. Everything we had was incredible. My favorite were the Pan Fried Chicken Bun it was nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Everything I tried was full of flavors. They brought out like some chili and sauces I didn't use any, it didn't need it. The cocktails were mixed to perfection. The staff was amazing. Don't sleep on this place.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of indulging in the ultimate feast at Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House in Santa Monica. The menu was extensive and I didn’t know where to start… however I didn’t need to worry because EVERYTHING was delicious 😋 It had traditional flavors with a modern twist. I tried the chicken, pork, and shrimp dumplings, plus their bao buns which were magnifíque 🫶🏽 Their orange chicken was real chicken and not “nuggets” with a lil kick at the end 🔥 I started off with the hot & sour soup because it’s an easy test for how good the restaurant is & theirs did not disappoint. Here are a few other notable dishes/notes: Cucumber Salad 🥒: Great pairing with all the dishes, yet yummy on its own. It’s crunchy, fresh, and comes in generous sizes of cucumber. Sauce wasn’t overpowering. Love the sweet red bell peppers - adds an additional crunch but sweet. Hot & sour soup 🥵 some restaurants are stingy with the soup content (tofu), but not here. You get nice chunks of tofu, plus it was the perfect combo of hot & sour. Dumpling 🥟: Loved the rice paper on these! The shrimp and scallop combo was a nice texture moment. Overall, I was happy with the dishes, service, and perfect people-watching positioning (it’s right on Wilshire Blvd. - you can’t miss it)! I would highly recommend going during lunch so you can walk off everything you are; you’ll definitely be full 😅

We did a family day trip to Santa Monica this weekend and wanted somewhere nice for lunch near the 3rd Street Promenade. I had been craving dimsum, so we stopped by Lotus. I feel like this was a truly elevated dimsum experience, from the atmosphere to the cocktails here. They even have a sushi menu and happyhour during the week! We tried: Pork & shrimp shu mai Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) Shrimp hargow Crab & shrimp dumplings Shrimp & chive dumplings Bbq pork rice rolls Pork spareribs Minced chicken rice dumplings (aka golden fried dumplings) Lotus wrapped abalone sticky rice Beef garlic noodles Chinese broccoli Macau style egg tarts (omg 🤤) 🥃Japanese Old Fashioned (subtle cherry flavor!) 🍹Blueberry Spritz (lite & refreshing!) It had been way too long since I've had my dim sum faves and these were all so good I nearly cried tears of joy 🤣 Even my picky kiddo was digging in on the egg tarts and fried dumplings & noodles. After lunch, we enjoyed walking around the 3rd Street Promenade. It was the perfect family outing for us. Next time you're in the area spending the day in Santa Monica, remember to check out Lotus - they're open for lunch and dinner too!

The place is clean and dimsum was very good in general. Hot food plates were good too and they give generous portion of protein. Dimsum price was in the order of 10. The price of the hot food is about 20. Their portion is reasonable. Things I recommend: - hargao 100% - siu mai 100% - steamed ribs - fried rice or any stir fry dish is very good - veg tempura - egg tart Things I do not recommend: - XLB: our portion was very dry and stick to the cup. Every piece broke apart when trying to pull out of the cup. The wrapping was too thick. - Mochi: the wrapping was already harden and tasted like they’ve been made a very long time ago. Ice cream was good but the outside was not good mochi flour anymore. Service was good. Nice servers and good tea.

This was a nice restaurant to visit in Santa Monica. My friend Marla had informed me that she went to this place recently and that she liked it, so I decided to go there with her. The staff was very nice and helpful and the food came out very quickly. I got the Crispy Tofu and Sichuan Eggplant, both of which are vegan options. The Sichaun Eggplant was nice and flavorful, having that distinct spicy taste of Sichuanese cuisine. The Crispy Tofu was made well but I feel it wasn't for me, so I hope that they add some vegan options for soft tofu as well like Mapo Tofu. Overall it's a nice place to visit in a good location of Santa Monica. However, in the future I hope they add more vegan options. If they do I would definitely come here more often.

Yelp
### 2023 review 49/100 ### Solid 4 star for good Asian food in Santa Monica. Reservations can be made on Yelp but no need to, just walk in. We showed up on a Sunday @11'ish and got a table right away. Parking is 2-hour free in SaMo public parking structures or some unrestricted open street parking if you're willing to walk a few blocks. No more dim sum on the menu except for 2 items: Pan fried chicken dumplings and Pork XLB. Menu now focuses on Chinese & Sushi. We felt like Chinese that day so we ordered: chicken fried noodles, pork belly and crispy shrimp that I've been craving + cup of white rice. Skip the wonton soup... broth was flavorless. Entrée ortions are generous with reasonable prices for SaMo. We had leftovers for another meal for 2. Would definitely come back, and try their happy hour too.

Yelp
I am not sure if this place is closed for good, but it would not surprise me. We have tried them twice, the last time about a month ago and it was just as bad and when they first opened. The place is pretty. It is located in Downtown Santa Monica right near 4th street. It is large and each time we have been, it has been close to empty. First, the service is just horrible. They don't know the menu, they don't know what they are doing at all. We had to return the same dish 3 times for them to get it right, and it was straight off their menu. The dumplings and boring with so little meat and really tough like they had been sitting around. The rice was good. It was not great, but it was fine. The noodles were overcooked but okay. We are done now, and again, I am not even sure it is still open. It is too bad because the place is super pretty inside. You can tell they spent a lot of money on it. Maybe they should have thought about the food more and hiring people that actually can take an order and get it right on let's say the second try. Sad indeed.

Yelp
In downtown Santa Monica in walking distance to the promenade. It's very spacious and gold for groups. They serve dim sum all day and have happy hour from 5-7pm They have your traditional dim sum dishes and more fusion dishes. They sweet pork bao buns were a hit! Although I noticed they were short-staffed, James, the manager, and I forgot the server's name, they were terrific and went above and beyond to help each table. I'll be back!

Yelp
My hubby was craving for dim sum, so we went here during our anniversary getaway. We found metered parking a couple of blocks away. The space is very fancy and modern! There is a bar in the back and we were greeted right away. There is a lot to choose from besides dim sum! We got some hot jasmine tea to start with. You can order with your server or use their pencils to pick the quantity of the items you want from the list of items available. We got all of my favorite items, which were the pork xiao long bao, steamed crystal hargow, steamed pork siu mai, shrimp and chives dumplings, lotus wrapped abalone sticky rice, shrimp rice noodles, and the baked BBQ pork bun. The food arrived pretty quickly and noticed that the items were huge as well. Everything was tasty and delightful. Too bad I didn't have room to try their other items- their menu is pretty big!

Yelp
Dim sum is served here all day everyday unlike most dim sum restaurants that are limited to only mornings and early afternoon or some only on weekend. This is a huge plus, service is fast and good comes out hot and fast Lots of space for large groups and they have bar and alcholol cocktaips and tv sports bar vibe as well They are next to the santa monica public parking lot so parking for 2 hours is just under $2 The menu is very easy to read and mark your quantities all at one time They also have gluten free and vegan options The dim sum was fresh and authentic! Nice location being just 5 minutes walk to santa monica beach!

Yelp
10/10. Let me break it down for you. If you're ever in Santa Monica I highly recommend Lotus Dim Sum. Why? Because everything is equality. I mean... I was amazed by everything. First off, easy parking. They have parking on 4th street. The staff- super friendly and welcoming. Very attentive. Our server James was a delight. So fast, kind and funny. The food- again.. the quality is everything. The portion size is VERY generous. It comes out high and fresh. Oh, and it comes out fast! If you're hungry- this is the spot! :) The prices- makes a lot of sense. Everything ranges from $7-22ish. More affordability than other restaurants in this area. The drinks- oh.. it's strong so you're going to love it. The bathroom- super clean and big. The ambiance is very calm, no loud music and a lot of space. I think this establishment is great if you have family out of town and they're craving dim sum and you want to impress them! Because basic dim sum will not do it. Also if you work near by, it'll be a great place to host a lunch. They will be in awe and give you a lot of credit. Can't wait to bring my parents here when they're in town! Check out my photos if you need more convincing! My fiancé was HAPPY HAPPY.

Yelp
Super cute place when entering. I love that they have a bar with big screen TVs! I've just found a new go-to spot for games Service was good. They were a bit understaffed at the time. But they were very accommodating and hospitable. Love the happy hour menu, too! This is my second time coming, and I can honestly say there are so many things in the menu I want to try. The Xiao long bao was good. The spicy cucumber was so refreshing and nicely seasoned. The chili dumplings were definitely my favorite. I love that nothing is too salty!! The baked crab handroll caught me by surprise at how delicious it was!!!! Can't wait to come back to try their cocktails. They look delish!!!

Yelp
Please do not come here; avoid it at any cost. I came here today around 4 pm with my sister to have lunch. Service: The host at the front host barely greeted us or said something. The waiter could care less about us or the service he is providing us. They give you paper menus where you have to notify them of the quantity of food you want, and there are pencils on each table. After deciding what we wanted, we tried to get someone's attention until the guy behind the bar noticed us, and he seemed bothered by us. Food: We had the chicken fried rice and the Veggie Lo-Mein, the worst food ever--low quality. No presentation. Overpriced. You can find better food at Panda Express for a much better price. Overall, it's safe to say this is one of the worst restaurants I've ever visited. The staff here seems so out of place and confused; they need to learn what they are doing there. Lousy food and terrible customer service are = the worst combination ever.

Yelp
Dim sum has always been my top 5 when it comes to food... so I'm super picky! But this restaurant has stolen first place for my top pick for dim sum! If you're ever in Santa Monica and craving something delicious, filling and affordable? This is the place! For some reason, the shrimp fried rice has my heart. It was so dang good. The orange chicken is also good. It's different from what I'm used to. Very different texture but in a good way. Don't even get me started on the sui mai. I think my overall experience was great. The menu is big but it's very easy because the way they organize it. So kudos to that. Sometimes people are overwhelmed with trying new restaurants because they have anxiety and don't know what to order. Here, they have each category for each. Rice, noodles, etc etc. Ohhhh, the portion size is pretty dope too! The staff is very nice as well. We had James who was funny and kind. The rest of the staff all had smiles on their face. So that made us feel appreciated and loved.

Yelp
Do you want to eat dimsum for the whole day? I know a place, follow me. Highlights of the menu: 1. Cucumber house salad 2. Shrimp rice noodle rolls 3. Xiao long bao 4. Shrimp siu mai with fish roe 5. Chicken feet 6. Sticky rice in lotus leaf 7. Sweet pork bao buns 8. Shrimp har gow 9. Black pepper beef mignon 10. Young Chow fried rice 11. Sautéed Chinese broccoli This place has a full bar which is great for a hang out. Quick service. They have so many good dishes! I cannot pick so I ordered them all!

Yelp
I liked every dish we ordered here; This is a great dimsum place to try when you're in the west side. They offer chili oil, black vinegar, ginger, chili sauce, sweet and sour sauce, hot mustard etc. Since you're in Santa Monica you will be paying more for Asian food in this area but you will be satisfied and get your fix! Parking structures nearby, first 90 minutes free. Love that you can make a reservation on Yelp ahead of time. Service was great and attentive. The only thing my table wasn't a huge fan of was the pork Shumai. The most popular dishes on my table were the garlic beef noodles, green beans, xlb and crispy honey shrimp. The garlic noodles just tasted butter to me but the beef was so soft! I'm definitely coming back for happy hour next time

Yelp
Lotus is solid. Plenty of variety on the menu, there's something for everyone. Not the #1 Chinese spot around, but a quality option with an upscale, sleek, and modern vibe. We ordered the hot and sour soup, brussel sprouts, garlic string bings, pepper fillet mignon, and kung pao chicken. - Hot and sour soup: 3 stars. Not the most flavorful or homey compared to others. Was just fine. - Brussel Sprouts: 4 stars. Well cooked. Perfectly crispy. Could have used a tad more flavor. Some sriracha did the trick here. - Garlic string Beans: 4.5 stars. These had great flavor and texture. Perfectly sauced, not too heavy. Firmer on the outside, but soft and thoroughly cooked in the inside. - Fillet mignon: 4.7 stars. Best thing we had here. Tender, satiating, big chunks of beef. Nice amount of onions and sauce for the right level of spice. Delicious. - Kung pao chicken: 3.5 stars. I do appreciate that this dish wasn't overly sauced, but the chicken needed more taste (more salt or spice). Was fine, but nothing memorable. Service was so-so. Waiter was nice, but seemed a bit checked out. He took a while to get us our rice, even after us asking. We were half way through all of our food by the time the rice came. Everything else was quick and timely.

Yelp
Solid 3. I was so excited because of the high review. Even made a reservation cuz I worried there would be a crowd. Nope. Not busy at all. But only one server. I feel bad for him because he is doing everything. He is super nice and polite! I expect to get a tea pot like the normal dim sum restaurant, but no. We got 2 cups of hot tea LOL. tea flavor was nice tho. They don't mind keep providing hot water for us to make more tea so it's fine haha. Best dim sum dish to me was chicken feet. Not skinny feet. Got something to chew! Flavor was good too. Most disappointing was the rice roll with pork ribs. There were so many small pieces of bones in the ribs. Couldn't eat any of the ribs. Big restaurants with a parking lot next to it! Easy to access. Tables are very big too.

Yelp
Orange chicken- I absolutely loved the orange sauce on this chicken, it was so fresh and absolutely delicious. It had a bit of a tangy taste to it which was incredible. Also, the portion size is HUGE. Garlic chicken noodles- these were incredible, I'm not a fan of garlic noodles but this turned me into one. The noodles and chicken were so incredibly fresh. The garlic wasn't overwhelming which was great, as it added so much flavor. They gave so many pieces of chicken as well- and big pieces. Highly recommend this dish!! Honey shrimp- loved this dish!! The honey flavor was perfect, and the size of the shrimp were huge. The portion is also big and the steamed broccoli complemented the dish perfectly. It wasn't too sweet also which was great, very fresh. Shrimp har gow- this was absolutely delicious, one of the best dim sum dishes imo. The portion of shrimp they gave us was huge too. Crispy garlic jalapeño wings- these were pretty fire, I loved how the garlic and jalapeño gave the wings so much flavor. They were also incredibly generous with the jalapeños and portion size. Lotus lychee martini- this martini was absolutely fantastic. The grey goose, lychee licquor, and triple sec was an incredible combination. The martini was quite strong, but in the best way possible. The syrup really balanced it out, but I highly recommend. Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House is the PLACE to go for dim sum. Their food is incredible and fresh, and comes out very quickly. The service is also fantastic, and the ambiance is beautiful- located in Santa Monica. It's also open till 9 pm and their kitchen closes at 8:30 pm. Best place for night dim sum. Their portion sizes are also incredibly generous and huge.

Yelp
I came in on a Tuesday afternoon and the parking here is cheap nearby for about a dollar an hour. I was greeted by friendly staff and the decor here is very elegant. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a romantic evening or a night out with friends. The menu has a variety of dumplings, especially dim-sum, soups, protein and veggies! We ordered Pot sticker dumplings, XLB & Siu Mais; my favorite are the Siu Mai's because they are twice in size and are a must-try, with delicate skins that give way to savory fillings bursting with flavor. The star dish was ultimately the Black Pepper Beef mignon, it is tender & melt-in-your-mouth juicy with mouth-watery, onion-sautéed sauce! The classic honey shrimp are perfectly crispy and nostalgic. The lotus steamed wrapped abalone sticky rice was cooked to perfection and melts in my mouth, they taste delicious with combinations of other entrees we ordered. But it's the crispy Crab wontons that truly steals the show. Each bite is a symphony of flavors, with cheesy texture, tender pieces of crab, and flakiness that comes with each bite dipped into the sweet and sour sauce. I've always been to many dim sum places but this restaurant really adds a flair of classiness and exceptional quality meals. It gives off the ambiance of being relaxed right by the beach, with nice views of many people walking alongside of the restaurant heading to the pier. Overall, if you're looking for an exceptional Chinese dining experience, look no further than this restaurant. With its delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and top-notch service, it's a different type of experience to enjoy! Thank you James for your amazing service.

Yelp
A second New Year's Day at Lotus. We were really happy to see that they had brought Sushi back after a long absence from the menu! Went there for Happy Hour before heading down to the park and 3rd Street. Miguel our server was great. He had a pleasant personality, was efficient and really knowledgeable about the menu. We've always been pleased with the quality of their staff. As for our order: The California Rolls were tasty and fresh. The Hot and Sour Soup was good as always. The Crispy Garlic Brussel Sprouts were amazing! The Pepper Calamari were also good, but we both felt they were a little greasy and perhaps should have been given a minute or two longer to drain the oil from the fryer before serving. Cocktails were good, even the well drinks. Another enjoyable HH at Lotus! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I enjoyed my visit at Lotus. I arrived before peak dinner hours and was seated quickly. They have a paper menu where you write down the quantity of the items you want. Pork XLB - A must in a dim sum restaurant. This was filling and juicy. Pork Siu Mai - Another must at a dim sum restaurant. Always, always the pork siu mai is such a great deal. The portion size is good and it also tasted good. Steamed Custard Bun - I'm a sucker for this. I love the filling and I was craving it during dinner. BBQ Pork Rice Noodle - I love rice noodles!!! I don't typically have it with BBQ pork, so I'm happy I tried it here. Hot & Sour Soup - I just love hot & sour soup. It's been cold and it tasted so good. It comes in a small to medium bowl. Orange Crispy Chicken - I really enjoyed the flavor of this. It was so juicy and absolutely full of flavor. My only gripe would be that the chicken was a tad overcooked. Beef Garlic Noodles - I love all kinds of noodles and this was enjoyable. There was a good amount of beef and just the right amount of garlic-ness to it. My meal was delicious and I left with a full stomach. The service here was good as well. You can make reservations online via Yelp which is a huge plus.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for minimal wait time and craving anything vaguely "Asian", Lotus Asian Cuisine and Bar is the spot for you. You'll need to park on the street, as is typical of Santa Monica. We made a reservation 20 min before we came, but you could walk in because it's pretty empty. Their menu includes everything from xiao long bao to sushi rolls to carpaccio to pad thai. We ordered the beef chow fun, salt & pepper shrimp, and braised string beans. All were savory and flavorful, with decent portions, but pretty expensive ($80 for 2 people). Service was great!
google avatar

Yelp
Lotus dim sum house definitely took me my surprise! Definitely a modern take to dim sum. Instead of waving down a person pushing carts full of dim sum, you can order on a piece of paper which makes it a bit easier. They have a HUGE menu to choose from. Honestly had a bit of a hard time choosing what to eat, but the staff was very friend and gave some amazing recommendations on their favorite dishes. I ordered a bit of everything and it definitely did not disappoint! Many of the dishes reminded me of my childhood dim sum days with family, minus the alcoholic drinks of course which was a added bonus this time! Out of all the dishes I tried I would have to say the fried tofu was BOMB. It was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, definitely understood why it was a staff favorite.

Yelp
The yummiest dim sum spot in Santa Monica with such an extensive menu! I love that they serve dim sum all day long. Everything tasted so yummy and authentic. The portions were huge and I was definitely stuffed at the end of the meal! My favorite was the siu mai it was so flavorful and juicy on the inside. The macau style crispy egg tart was so good too, love the authentic taste and was so fluffy. The customer service was outstanding as well! Everyone was so kind and the food came out pretty quickly. Also a shoutout to James for being absolutely amazing!! I would definitely return whenever I'm in the area!

Yelp
Dim Sum & Cocktails?! What a way to start your morning! The cocktails here are STRONG, but smooth, if that makes sense. George took care of us and not only was he a great bartender, but he gave great service during our visit! The dim sum menu has a huge selection, but what we loved the most was the Steamed Garlic Chicken Feet! This place makes a great option to grab some dim sum to go and head down to the beach nearby! * Pork Xiao Long Bao * Steamed Pork Siu Mai * Steamed Garlic Chicken Feet * Steamed Pork Spare Ribs * Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll * BBQ Pork Rice Noodle Roll * Beef Rice Noodle Roll * Cucumber Salad * Edamame * Shishito Peppers * Lotus Lychee Martini & Berry Mojito

Yelp
DIM SUM-body tell you about the newest dim sum spot in west LA, @lotusdimsumhouse ? I've been craving dim sum for such a long time, and I'm so glad that there's finally a restaurant close by to me that serves authentic siu mai that is made fresh and by hand on the daily. I was most impressed by the incredible quality and generous portion sizes of the siu mai, but you definitely have to also check out their extensive menu of noodles, fried rice, and Asian fusion dishes as well. Best of all, they have a $6 happy hour from 2:30-5:30 PM on weekdays, as well as $18 bottomless mimosas on Sundays from 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Service was very friendly and helpful, but I did find that the dishes came out a bit slowly despite not too many clients in the restaurant, and some of the dishes we ordered never arrived. Nevertheless, this is definitely a nice, upscale dim sum restaurant that has such a beautiful interior and ambiance that would be perfect for a casual date. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the Santa Monica area! Featured here: Pork Xiao long bao Steamed shrimp har gow Steamed pork and shrimp siu mai Steamed shrimp and chives dumpling shrimp and scallop dumpling Shrimp rice noodle roll Macau style crispy egg tarts Honey shrimp Beef chow fun Young chow fried rice

Yelp
+'s Excellent location - 2 blocks from Ocean Blvd Food portions are decent Nice large dining area -'s Sub par service Cleanliness was poor - look closely at napkins, plates, silverware, sauce holders, sauces (soy sauce, vinegar) - and you'll see stains and other things. The other "things" are fruit flies and other bugs. - sauce holders are covered with Saran wrap Recommend skipping this place and checking out other Dim Sum places in the West LA area

Yelp
Lotus had pretty mediocre dim sum when I stopped by for dinner a few weeks ago. On the plus side it was pretty much empty during dinner on a Sunday, so we were served very quickly considering it's more of a sit-down place than your more traditional fast-paced dim sum joint. The xiao long bao were pretty good, but the other dishes were kind of bland. Especially given the price tag (located very close to 3rd St), I would've liked some more flavor in the dishes I ordered. The beef rice noodle roll and Macau-style egg tart really didn't have any flavor. The servers were quick to seat us and deliver our food, and the restaurant itself was quite clean and quiet. I don't think I'd come back again; it was a mediocre, overpriced restaurant in an area full of both mediocre, overpriced restaurants and delicious (although expensive) restaurants. I'd try to find the latter.

Yelp
They don't have any of the good food you see in the photos. And the food they have is only mediocre. The waiter was nice. The place was empty for now obvious reasons. The restaurant was clean. Kinda looked like a P. F. Chang without the horse. I don't have any photos to share because it wasn't worth it.

Yelp
Lotus Dim Sum is located near Santa Monica Ocean! I wanted to treat my siblings out to dinner and we decided to eat at Lotus! When entering, you'll noticed booth along the walls and round tables in the center. TVs are by the bar where they turn on LA sport games. You mark the items you want to order on the menu and the server confirms your order. The food comes out as prepared. We loved the dim sum selections! My fav would happen to be the steamed crystal hargow and the steamed bbq pork buns!! But a MUST ITEM TO ORDER has to be the CRISPY HONEY SHRIMP which is served with steamed broccoli! Another fav is the black peeper beef dish- it's super flavorful and not salty! As for cocktails I recommend the lotus lychee martini! We came during the dinner time but we heard that if you come in the morning they have the traditional carts for the dim sum. We will def have to be back for that experience! Shout out to James who took really good care of us and make sure our experience was 100!

Yelp
This place is amazing! I went with a group of friends for a birthday dinner. It was such a great dinner. The food is very flavorful. The soup was hot. The texture of the food was crispy when it should be crispy or fluffy when it should be fluffy. I don't think there was anything I didn't like that I tried. It was delicious! The atmosphere was nice too. Good upscale decor and it was clean. There is plenty of comfortable seating and it wasn't crowded. The portions were generous!! My group took most of the food they ordered home because it was filling and there was so much of it. The service was okay. Our waiter was a little off, but after we gave him an early tip he perked right up lol. My group was ordering a lot and a bit needy too . Parking is not free but it was cheap. There is a couple parking structures nearby and I paid only ~$3 for a few hours. So not too bad. Next time I'm in Santa Monica area I'll be back!

Yelp
Dim Sum within walking distance to Santa Monica Pier, sign me up! I definitely loved that there was no long wait to get inside like in SGV. Their menu has all of the basic dim sum items you would find at the local mom and pops in SGV. You do order everything off of the sheet and food is brought out to your table. Food and service was pretty on point. Our server reminded me of James Cordon from his voice and appearance. He was pretty nice and food came out quick. Which I am thankful for because I have hangry little ones. Of all the items I ordered, I labeled which is a must and what you can skip and try the next time you are there. They have so many items on their menu that its kinda hard to order everything. Therefore, my little fam bam will definitely be coming back when we are in Santa Monica again to try the rest of their menu. Ordered: *Siu Mai - A Definite Must *Beef Chow Fun - Must *Crispy shrimp egg roll - Must *Steamed Shrimp rolls - Must *Yang Chow Fried Rice - Skip *Hot & Sour Soup - Must *Garlic shrimp noodles - skip (my least favorite item) *Pork spareribs in black bean - skip (my least favorite item) The restaurant is very modern and clean. I love that the tables are big and spacious. I believe this is the best dim sum restaurant in the area. Ask the staff for hot sauces as they have different kinds in the back. I love that they offer low sodium soy sauce on the table without me having to ask. 2 thumbs up from this Yelper! Lotus Dim Sum is a must if you are in the area and is craving dim sum! Tips: *Street Metered Parking $2.50 per hour or parking structure nearby. *Restroom available *Alcohol available *Indoor seating *Credit card accepted. *Seems like they do food delivery for the locals because I saw the little delivery carts outside.

Yelp
We sat at the bar for dinner and I didn't get his name but the bartender was very friendly and the service was spectacular. Food was very flavorful and arrived quickly. Black pepper mignon was very tender. The sauce for the crab cheese wonton was a bit too tangy maybe? We didn't feel rushed and I was even able to taste the wine before committing which I don't normally experience at a casual restaurant and especially seated at the bar. My only negative was that I didn't realize the kung pao chicken was dark meat. I suppose I just assumed it was white meat because I was comparing to the PF Chang's this place used to be... you know what assuming makes... lol. Lesson learned.

Yelp
Trying Santa Monica's newest dim sum restaurant! My favorites were the beef chow fun, sticky rice, and honey walnut shrimp. The siu mai was a bit dense but had good flavor, but the shrimp and scallop dumplings barely had any scallops if any. The shrimp rice noodle roll tasted a bit off sadly, with either too much rice roll and it was a bit sour tasting. The tea that they serve comes out hot and fresh, and it's really flavorful, perfect with your meal! I love how their location is super close to the beach and Third Street Promenade so you can get a quick bite of dumplings after a busy day shopping and exploring.

Yelp
We showed up for the lunar new year! The food was decent and I love dim sum! The string beans were flavorful and crisp! The butter garlic noodles were a bit too oily and buttery for my taste (with not quite enough garlic) The haw gao and custard were great! The cucumber was good (even though they forgot we ordered it until we reminded them towards the end), but the pieces were larger than I was expecting! I loved the fried tofu, though! (My favorite dish of the meal!) The xiao long bao weren't bad but not a stand out. The beef rice noodle rolls (normally my favorite) were a bit disappointing. It felt like the wrong kind of beef? A little tough / hard almost for the rice noodles. Overall, would probably come back, but would pass on the butter garlic noodles, possibly the xiao long bao, and possibly the beef rice noodle rolls. There are public lots nearby for parking (90 min free).

Yelp
Wow! Where to start?! The restaurant is so easy to find. It's conveniently on the corner of Fourth St & Wilshire Blvd. What makes it better is that there's a parking lot within the same block & is free for the first 90 minutes. Can't beat that! Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by a host& was seated immediately. There are typically 3 things as a guest that we look forward too. The food, the service, and the atmosphere. With that being said, all our boxes were checked. Lotus offers a variety of food options. The food was filled with vibrant freshness and flavor. Our server, George, was amazing! He was very friendly, informative, and attentive. The ambiance was very sleek, clean, modern and spacious! We had a spread of options. It's tough to choose but if I had to recommend my top 3 dishes it would simply be the crispy honey shrimp, the pork & shrimp siu mai, and the garlic chicken noodles! One of the best, if not the best dim sum this side of town. I would highly recommend lotus, if you're looking for a restaurant to have a nice meal with some family or friends. I must add, that they're all that & DIM-SUM. Harrrr harrrrr!

Yelp
Restaurant in itself looks quite dated. I feel like it was the old PF Chang's restaurant but was never updated. Food was 1/5. We had garlic noodles, S&P calamari, orange beef and cream cheese and crab wonton. None of the dishes were done well. Garlic noodles' tasted of burnt garlic. Cream cheese wonton was odd tasting. Calamari was the most edible. Beef was covered and soaked in sauce that was too sweet. Possibly to cover the poorly cooked quality of meat. Additionally, I've had better sauces from a jar. The worst thing was the staff. 3 males and 1 female host. Only 1 guy was working his butt off and even our own server was on the floor but heavily socializing with the other staff. Tried to get his attention so many times but even after making eye contact, he still kept on chatting and laughing with the other guy. So infuriating tbh. Definitely not worth to even checking it out

Yelp
I recently visited Lotus Dim Sum House and had an wonderful experience. The service was great, with the staff providing us with excellent recommendations. The food was delicious, and the restaurant's modern and fancy decor, with a giant bar serving a wide range of drinks, created a unique atmosphere. The music selection was particularly refreshing, giving the restaurant a distinctive vibe that set it apart from traditional dim sum resturants. I was so impressed with the quality of their dim sum dishes. The ingredients used were of high quality, and the sauces enhancing their original taste. Here are the highlights of what I ordered: 1. Pork xiao long bao was incredibly juicy, meat is flavorful. The bite-sized portions were just perfect. The steamed pork siu mai was the best I've ever had. The generous portions were filled with tasty pork and not dries at all, while the addition of red ingredients gave them a delightful kick. 2. The deep-fried taro dumplings were like works of art. As a taro lover accustomed to eating it as a sweet dessert, I was pleasantly surprised by the savory twist. The crispy exterior and a creamy taro inside layer, then filled with juicy meat and sauce. It truly blew my mind. 3. The Macau egg custard tart was so crispy on the outside, with a creamy and milky interior. Such a perfect dessert. 4. The baked BBQ pork bun has fluffy and slightly sweet bun with perfectly tender and flavorful BBQ pork inside. The balance of flavors was amazing. 5. The wonton soup was simple yet comforting, balanced the other bold dishes. It left me feeling satisfied. 6.The cucumber salad was a must-try, offering a refreshing and sweet soy sauce-marinated option with a hint of spice. It provided an excellent balanceto the richer dishes. 7. Crispy honey shrimp is not something I typically order, as it's difficult to execute well. However, Lotus Dim Sum House exceeded my expectations with their version. The sweet and crispy exterior combined with the fresh and perfectly cooked shrimp resulted in a heavenly bite. 8. The beef chow fun showcased their skilled cooking techniques. The freshly prepared dish featured unbroken noodles and flavorful, tender beef. Both the noodles and beef were delicious in their own right. What a satisfying combination. 9. The steamed crystal har gow (shrimp dumplings) were made with high-quality shrimp. The delicate crystal layer with the fresh and light shrimp filling, adding some chili and dipping them in soy sauce elevated the experience even further. 10.Lastly, the Japanese cheesecake was a light, fresh, and creamy dessert that provided the perfect conclusion to the meal. With so many drinks on the menu, I look forward to returning to Lotus Dim Sum House to try them out. Our server, Peter provided outstanding service to us and gave us fantastic recommendations. Regarding parking, we found an indoor parking lot nearby, where we could leave our car for 4 hours for a reasonable fee. This made it convenient for us to explore the area after the meal. We took advantage of the location in the heart of Santa Monica and walked just 15 minutes to the pier, where we enjoyed some arcade games. It was the perfect day, and I want to express my gratitude to Lotus Dim Sum House. I will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
Have been craving dim sum for a while now and I finally got my cravings satisfied at Lotus Dim Sum! If you're ever in the area, highly recommend checking them out!

Yelp
A big open and welcoming space with a combination of booths for a more intimate meal or tables for 2 , 4 or even larger groups The service was fantastic and happy to help with any questions on the menu and kept our glasses topped up throughout the meal We ordered way to much food but it was all delicious with the standouts for me being the crispy shrimp rolls, fillet Mignon and vegetables and the truffle Salmon carpaccio which on its own was sensational Having the choice of a traditional Chinese menu with some twists Is great but add in the Japanese sushi and sashimi and it's the best of both worlds Over all a great choice for brunch, lunch or dinner, they have a full bar with signature cocktails on offer and would be a perfect setting for a celebration with friends and colleagues, an intimate dinner for two or a work function where larger tables are required Parking is a little tight on the street but there is a parking structure next door on 4th street which was free for first 3 hours when we visited on Friday There is a happy hour and they also have bottomless mimosas on Sundays 11.30 - 2.30 pm Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

Yelp
I really don't know of any place where you can get yummy dim sum for dinner so it's amazing this place exists! I'm so glad this replaced the PF Chang's. Parking wise: this is right next to a first 90 min free lot literally within walking distance. The interior is huge and well lit with booths everywhere to accommodate parties of all sizes whether it be a date night or group / family outing. The staff is also very friendly and fast at getting your food to you asap! The food here is SO GOOD! I love dim sum so much. It's like comfort food for me. And it really makes me happy seeing this in the smack dab middle of Santa Monica. Lotus has all my favorites like the right kind of bbq pork buns with the honey glazed brown top, shrimp har gow, scallion pancake, beef chow fun, and they even have sushi! I loved their yellowtail sashimi. They also have delicious soups. I love hot and sour soup and their chicken ginseng soup is heavy on the ginseng but it's a very traditional Chinese soup. The more ginseng flavor, the healthier the soup. So I know when I'm eating it, I'm sipping to my health. Their matcha green tea is also so perfectly sweet. I'm usually not the biggest fan of matcha but this just tastes like a deliciously light sweet tea. Their Mochi ice cream too is so tasty. They're little bites of delicious. They have strawberry, green tea, and mango flavor which are all my fave Mochi flavors. Highly recommend! I had a great experience here and hope I can keep coming back for more of my fave dim sum!

Yelp
This restaurant was so delicious! My friends and I came here for the first time and ordered several dishes from the menu so we can try a little bit of everything. We got har gow (steamed shrimp dumpling), steamed garlic chicken feet, garlic string beans, beef with broccoli, shishito peppers, chicken pot stickers, and crab rangoons. Everything was amazing and we would 100% come back! My favorites were the har gow and crab rangoons!

Yelp
If you're really craving dim sum, then you're lucky because they have almost every dish you can think of on top of popular Asian dishes such as noodles and fried rice. I can't forget to mention that they also have sushi which is crazy for a dim sum restaurant. I only came for the dim sum though because I've been eating a lot of sushi lately. My table ordered a crazy amount of food and all pictures are attached. However, these were the menu highlights that I definitely recommend ordering: Garlic Chicken Feet, Crab Meat Cream Cheese Wontons, Honey Shrimp, and Singapore Style Rice Noodles. The dim sum items themselves were decent but they didn't really have a wow factor. They came out pretty quickly after ordering with the main dishes coming last, assuming they were being made to order. The interior is very nice so if you're up to trying an upscale dim sum restaurant then I'd say it's worth a visit. There are parking structures nearby where the first 1.5 hours are free so if the restaurant isn't crowded you can leisurely enjoy your meal and maybe even walk around after since it's in such a nice area.

Yelp
Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House is a spacious restaurant with many varieties of dim sum, soup, small dishes, meat entree dishes, noodles, rice, and vegetables sides. We ordered Pork Xiao Long Bao, Steamed Shrimp HarGow, Steamed Pork Siu Mai, Crab Meat & Shrimp Dumplings, Steamed Garlic Chicken Feet, Steamed Pork Spare Ribs, and Steamed Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll. All were good but my top three would be Steamed Pork Siu Mai, Steamed Shrimp HarGow, and Steamed Pork Spare Ribs. James our waiter would check up on us as we ate and asked how our food was. **Parking tip: Most Public Parking Structure are 90 Min Free Parking. Public Parking Structure 1 is the nearest to the restaurant on 4th Street**

Yelp
I made a reservation on a Saturday afternoon through Yelp, but it wasn't needed. My party of 4 walked in, and it was open seats in abundance. We were fortunate to have a great server. He was doing a lot, seating people, making the drinks, and we saw him bussing tables. BUT he was great with suggestions and service. We never had to look for him or ask twice for anything. The food was pretty good. We had the crab and cream cheese rangoons and vegetarian egg rolls for appetizers. I had the vegan fun chow, table mates had the orange chicken, garlic chicken, and combination lo mein. Food came out hot, and the service was quick. Everyone was satisfied with their entrees, and the appetizers were hot and tasty. The hot and sour soup was not desirable and left an aftertaste in your mouth. The orange chicken came with a generous portion and definitely will be leftovers. My table mate realMy loved the combination lo mein, she said it was one of the best she had. The garlic chicken was good and flavorful, but she said the chicken was a little soft. I had the lychee martini it was delightful.

Yelp
For the area, the dim sum here was surprisingly good! They don't have as a super wide of the selection as you would find at one in SGV but they have the basic essential! They still offer other dishes too like noodles or rice dishes that offers a bit kroe variety and there's a sushi menu too! I highly recommend grtting their green Tea! Both the hot and iced were really good. I know strange to recommend but trust me! The chicken feet here were surprisinglh really good! Flavorful, tender and it fell off the bone. The har gow was and Sui Mai were good. I would pass on the XLB, it was dry and no juices. Was sad they didn't have turnip cake here. The lo Mai gah was with chicken instead of pork. That' was different for me. The fried taro meat was good! Flaky and filling! The ha cheung was a bit over cooked. The rice paper was too soft and fell apart. There's street parking and meter. Can be difficult if you're coming at peak hours. Otherwise not too hard early in the day. Overall I would come back if I was in Santa Monica and meeting up with a friend! I would say it is priced higher than expected in comparison to SGV but no surprise. It is a bit of a nicer place for sure! Definitely gonna come.back for the sushi

Yelp
First of time here and I was impressed. First it's in a great location. It is near the Santa Monica Pier. The service was great. They were all friendly and kind. Checked on us at an appropriate time. The food was amazing. We got some much and didn't find something that we did not enjoy. My favorite were the beef ribs. They were tasty. The green beans were crispy and crunchy. I got an old fashioned and give me a good buzz. This is great for groups of people. That allows you to enjoy more food. I would definitely comeback and bring my family and friends. I really enjoyed my meal.

Yelp
Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House is a relatively new establishment that opened in late July. Walking into Lotus, the restaurant has an inviting decor and atmosphere. Many booths line the perimeter, as well as having dining tables and bar seating. There appears to be an additional large section for groups and parties. Parking can be difficult as there is primarily limited metered street parking. Their menu offers a wide variety of 42 Dim Sum items, as well as soups, salads, Chinese dishes, and 27 sushi offerings. Once seated by the host/hostess, a waitstaff takes one's drink order, while the customer peruses the menu via a QR code or a paper menu on the table. When ready to order, one indicates their selections on the paper menu and hands it to the server. Even though it was the beginning of the dinner hour, our food was delivered quickly. But, two items should have been delivered a few minutes earlier when they were warmer. Our Genmaicha tea was served piping hot, but it was not fully favored as it was quite weak. We could barely taste the roasted (popped) brown rice. The rest of our items were good but not terrific as they lacked "flavor." Perhaps it was just a fluke this time. Lotus is trying hard but needs to grow a bit. Their food was relatively good but not quite up to par. But, we enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely return to try them again.

Yelp
It was our first time eating here. My wife had a dim sum craving and we decided to check out Lotus cause we saw that it had great reviews in Santa Monica. Every dish we ate was amazing and we definitely will be coming back for more. Our server was attentive to our needs and regularly checked on us if we needed more water and to see if we enjoyed our meal. We ended up walking the rest of the day at 3rd street Promenade and the Pier to burn off all of the food we ate. Heheh

Yelp
Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House opened over two weeks ago, on Wilshire/4th in Santa Monica, replacing PF Chang's restaurant which had been there for nearly 2 decades. The restaurant does not provide parking. Limited street metered parking and parking lots for a fee close by. Full bar lounge, only indoor seating, no outdoor patio seating at all. Because of the lack of parking, no outdoor seating and all the negative reviews, I was reluctant to visit this restaurant. A couple days ago, I was in the area, and wanted to try Lotus dim sum... The hosts greeted Me cordially, was accommodating with my service furbaby and we were seated promptly. I sat at a booth close to the bar for a view of the tv monitor to occasionally glance at the sports games/scores. The waiter came by shortly to take my order, he was also the bartender but was professional and attentive. Told the waiter, I was in a rush I ordered a wonton soup, dim sum and noodles. The food was prepared quickly and presented nicely. The wonton soup with the baby bok choy, the broth was so flavorful. The steamed lobster, crab and shrimp and shrimp har gow were all so delicious I can tell it was hand made fresh. Ordered shrimp and chives pan fried dumplings also quite good. The freshness and tastiness of these dumplings deserve 5 stars! The Singapore noodles dish looked good but was a disappointment, lacking the spicy curry seasoning and the noodles were too chewy, not thoroughly cooked, earns a 1/5 star :( Noteworthy is the tabletop condiments jar of spicy chili had a silver plated spoon and NOT a cringey plastic spoon like most Asian restaurants! The menu offers dim sum, Asian cuisine dishes and sushi so this restaurant is really an Asian fusion of sorts to appeal to most. Because I don't eat pork, I like the nice variety of seafood and veggies choices offered on the menu. I wanted to limit my time inside the restaurant, as I am not 100% comfortable dining inside, so after taking pictures of the food and finishing the soup, having a bite of each dish, I had everything boxed togo. Eco friendly Compostable boxes were used yay. But keep in mind, dim sum should be eaten once prepared, it tastes better and doesn't taste as good after a delivery process. Despite my limited time inside the restaurant, I say if you're comfortable dining inside, and want delish, savory, freshly made dim sum dumplings Lotus is worth a visit.
