From well-done to Black & Blue “Pittsburgh Style,” meaning charred outside and raw in the center, the primal cuts come from the on-site dry-aging room lined with Himalayan salt. Five stars for sure for waiter Robert! Extremely, knowledgeable, and perfectly attentive without being bothersome. A very warm and relaxing atmosphere with a great location in the gas lamp District. Be sure to order the rolls. If you like oysters, don’t hesitate ordering them! I would drive age steak, that we shared, was very good… But I must admit that I’m parcel to a thicker cut, grilled perfectly by my husband. I have to mention our fabulous dessert!

What a great lunch visit! Trey, our server, was awesome and spot on with our service. It was lunch so not crowded. Food was perfect. Salads, steaks, seafood all prepared well. The bread appetizer was wonderful. I highly recommend that. Overall super meal and service. Very convenient just across from convention center. We look forward to retuning for dinner.

20/10 this place looks and acts fancy but it's a welcoming vibe. Not gonna lie I was NOT dressed up but they welcomed me in and were SO lovely and attentive! There was a little confusion with the front door hostess who even tho it was empty kept saying you can do "silver top". It took a little clarification to work out she was telling me to sit at the bar but I asked for a table and got it. Servers lovely , quick, attentive. Food - I came for the fish and chips and it was exactly as pictured and amazing!!!! Perfect fresh made beer batter and the fish was tender and juicy. So good! I'm an Aussie so I'm fussy about fish and chips but this was worth the walk!

We had a wonderful dining experience at Lou & Mickey’s! Everything we ordered was delicious -the ribeye was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the salad was fresh and crisp, and the baked goat cheese w/roasted garlic on sourdough bread was a standout appetizer. The Chilean sea bass was prepared great! My husband especially loved the oysters…they were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Would definitely recommend!

Google
Our first time here was for my wife's birthday and it was such an experience! The staff were friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. They fielded our questions with an easy manner and we're quite attentive through the night. Our food itself was delicious; whether it was the juicy teriyaki steak tips, warm and fluffy bread, perfect asparagus, a flavor packed peppercorn ribeye, or my wife's Chilean sea bass, the food was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection! We finished the experience with a slice of goth lasagna (chocolate layer cake) & a generous portion of key lime pie. Her dessert was free as well (birthday discount)! A perfect dinner for my forever lady. We will absolutely return!

Google
Had dinner here the first day in town and it was super delicious! Our waiter was from the Bronx and had us in stitches while still being professional and helpful. My Chilean sea bass was phenomenal, lovely crunchy crust & flakey body. The sautéed spinach w/garlic was yummy, and everyone at the table devoured everything quickly. My key lime pie dessert (the only dish I forgot to photograph) was perfect, just tart enough, creamy & unctuous with a tasty crust. Absolutely recommended!

Google
We had an outstanding meal at Lou & Mickey’s. It started with a plate of Hama Hama oysters that were incredibly fresh. The accompanying sauces were bright, flavorful, and clearly made fresh as well. Every bite was a reminder of just how good oysters can be when done right. The steak was ordered black and blue, and it was cooked perfectly. The outside had a beautiful sear while the inside remained cool and tender. It’s rare to find a place that nails this level of doneness so precisely, but Lou & Mickey’s delivered. Our server, Bobby, was fantastic. He was helpful, attentive, and made great recommendations. He really elevated the entire experience with his professionalism and friendly attitude. Lou & Mickey’s offers excellent food and outstanding service. We’ll definitely be returning.

We had an excellent business lunch here while at a conference. Very flexible with the reservation. We had eight and the service was excellent! We had a few different appetizers. They were all delicious. Crab cakes, calamari, steak tips. For my main, I had the special which was risotto and a fish. It was very tasty and well prepared. Fresh and well seasoned.

Yelp
A Dreamy Birthday Celebration with a View My partner and I celebrated his birthday here, and since it falls so close to Valentine's Day, finding a reservation was no easy task. Thankfully, this incredible spot had everything we could have hoped for--and more. We decided to go with their Valentine's course menu paired with wine samplers, and it truly made the night unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the classy and chic atmosphere set the perfect mood. We were lucky enough to sit out on the patio, soaking in the gorgeous views of downtown San Diego, which made the evening feel even more special. The entire experience was flawless--appetizers, salads, entrées, and desserts--each dish beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We left feeling full, happy, and wrapped in the best vibes. It was one of those nights we'll always remember, and we're already looking forward to coming back. Definitely worth every moment.

Yelp
Lou & Mickey's, located in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, offers an exceptional dining experience that combines top-quality cuisine with a vibrant atmosphere. During my recent visit, I was thoroughly impressed by both the food and the service. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, boasting a tender and flavorful profile that truly stood out. Additionally, the Japanese Satsuma Wagyu was a highlight; its rich marbling and exquisite taste made it a memorable dish. A fellow diner shared a similar sentiment, noting, "The food was very delicious. Had the Japanese Satsuma Wagyu. So good." The ambiance of Lou & Mickey's is both inviting and lively, making it an ideal spot for various occasions. The staff were attentive and contributed to a pleasant dining experience. One reviewer mentioned, "Great atmosphere and friendly staff! The food was delicious." In summary, Lou & Mickey's excels in delivering high-quality steaks and a delightful dining environment. Whether you're a local or visiting San Diego, this establishment is well worth a visit for a memorable meal.

Yelp
Food ok. Service and manager not so much. Many other better restaurants in downtown. I live in downtown San Diego and I know there are many other better places than this one.

Yelp
Back to old form. Great steaks tonight. Excellent service. An exceptional bottle of Daou The Lion at a reasonable mark up. The grilled artichoke was very over cooked. Maybe an over correction but previous under cooked experiences. The "old school steakhouse" ambience is great inside. I don't recommend sitting outside next to the street.

Yelp
We had high hopes for Lou and Mikey's, but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The steak burger was way too chewy, definitely not what we were expecting. The halibut fillets with macadamia nut crust? A tiny, overcooked piece that left us disappointed. The fish and chips were decent, but nothing that wowed us. For the prices here, we were hoping for something a bit more memorable, in a good way! Sadly, we can't see ourselves recommending this place anytime soon

Yelp
We've been to Lou & Mickey's a few times now. We've been very fortunate to always get a table with minimal wait time without a reservation. We always work up an appetite walking around the Gaslamp area. We absolutely love their steaks. They have it down to a science. Our steaks have been tender, juicy, and flavorful!! We enjoyed the wines and mojitos as well. The staff has always been cordial and helpful. Our waters were always full. There were multiple staff members helping out with our main waitress. Overall, a great place for dinner! Street parking. Great bar area. Comfy patio area.

Yelp
Chic Steak place with a great menu, delicious salads, soups and pasta, with pretty good options for vegetarians. Got the vine ripened tomato and buratta $18- Refreshing! The complimentary sourdough bread was so soft, warm and great on the palate, it made waiting for the pasta even more exciting. Customized Linguine pasta -$30- well worth the taste. It was worth the wait. They have a great collection at the bar and the are known for cooking time tested recipes, at time tested temperatures hence famous. Located at the gates of the famous Gaslamp area, this restaurant has outdoor seating where pets are allowed. On a cool sunny afternoon, outdoor was definitely the choice. Ofcourse the weather was a bit confusing for Dec, but yeah, worked to our benefit that afternoon. Staff is friendly and it does not hurt to be dressy.

Yelp
The food was very delicious. Had the Japanese Satsuma Wagyu. So good. Everyone was nice and really brought out the best service here. Nice environment too.

Yelp
The staff here was great. We arrived on a Saturday night and the place was not too packed. We got seated right away in their patio area. Even though it was a cold night they have heaters spread out so it's nice and toasty. He drinks were good and our server was helpful. We enjoyed the scallops and oysters. This is a great spot to sit back and relax in gas lamp.

Yelp
We had been wanting to cross off this steakhouse off our list. We came here to celebrate our nine year anniversary. The ambiance was not as romantic as we thought it would be. The tables are VERY close together. However, our waiter (I believe his name was Glenn) was phenomenal. He gave us great suggestions and was extremely friendly. We ordered the half dozen sampler oyster plate from the raw bar - yummy! The roasted garlic goat cheese appetizer was delicious. And we got a slice of cheesecake to go which was also very good. The ribeye steak itself was good paired with a baked potato. Parking was chaotic on this Friday night. We did not realize there was the Rodeo event happening at Petco Park right across the street. Maybe confirm if there are any events happening for the day you're planning to go. The steakhouse is right by the gas lamp sign.

Yelp
Excellent location, beautiful ambiance. We were lucky to score a booth with outdoor seating and they provided heat lamps. Their meatball appetizer was unbelievable. I should have ordered 2 as my main course. The steak.. was way too tough. For $70, I should have returned it. Lesson learned, to speak up if you don't like something. I got the prime ribeye blackened. (I think, see photo). Next time I'd go for filet mignon, something I know what to expect. I was hesitant to return it as maybe that cut is supposed to be difficult to chew? Also, the baked potato was dry. That meatball appetizer saved the day.. Service was attentive and professional.

Yelp
After the pet parade this past saturday my fiance and two of our friends were looking for a tasty spot to eat and my fiance suggested this place. The ambience is an old school classy-chic steakhouse. With a large patio it makes a great place for not just dinner but lunch. Oh also it's dog friendly, their servers were so nice and friendly considering we came in with 5 dogs! Our server, I'm pretty sure his name was Jeff, suggested an amazing DIY steak sandwich based on the daily cut meats, so my friend and I ordered that to share (definitely feats two and can feat more if you want a large cut of meat). My fiance and other friend decided to share the seafood platter from the raw bar; they got the basic order which included a variety of mussels, claims, osters, and 1/2 a lobster - it looked really good! Our prime medium rare steak was cooked and flavored to perfection, accompanied by the butcher's butter fresh fluffy bread with a side of whipped goat cheese, carmelized onions, and mushrooms made an amazing steak sandwich. Alot of family style and sharing items with very affordable prices for great quality. One of my favorite lunches I've had in San Diego ever! Great spot for both steak lovers and seafood lovers.

Yelp
We had an amazing time celebrating an early Valentines day date. From having to reschedule last minute to a day ahead of our original reservations to the amazing food and drinks we had. The service is always top notch when we choose to dine here. I just wanted to give special recognition to our server Kyte. He was very attentive, personable and very accommodating to my girlfriend and i. It was a little chilly outside and he made sure my girl was warm by relocating a space heater for us. This small token came without request and was very much appreciated. As always thank you for bringing the highest level of service every time we come in

Yelp
We had a reservation on a Sunday evening for our anniversary and we were wowed! Eric was our waiter and he was very informative of the menu and even gave us a free desert for our special occasion. We ordered: The meatballs 10/10 60 day aged T-bone 10/10 The apple tart with a scoop of vanilla All in all, I would recommend this steakhouse. It was a pleasure dining here.

Yelp
This place has old school charm. Food came pretty quick. The only real miss on my plate was the potatoes. The cold fingerling potatoes had an unpleasant texture and no flavor. The salad was nice. The steak was cooked to order (medium) but wasn't very flavorful. Service was slower than I'd expect given the place wasn't very busy. A bit pricey but consistent with the touristy area.

Yelp
We recently stopped by Lou and Mickey's at the Gaslamp for some appetizers before heading to dinner at a friend's house, and overall, it was a great experience. The ambiance was inviting, and the service was attentive and friendly. Each appetizer we tried was delicious, showcasing quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. However, we did find the prices to be on the higher side, especially compared to what we're used to back home in Redondo Beach. The sales tax also added to the overall cost, making it a bit more expensive than we anticipated. Just as a heads up, even if you're just grabbing some appetizers, your bill could easily exceed $100. Despite the higher prices, we really enjoyed the food and would recommend Lou and Mickey's for a special occasion or if you're looking to splurge a bit on some excellent appetizers in a pleasant setting.

Yelp
First visit and won't be out last. Prices are above little high but worth every single penny! We had a seat near the front window. Decoration and art work is pretty cool To look at. I will call him a manager- who came to check on each table- which was very classy!! We need more of that in our restaurants. Customer service is key. Our server Lynn was great. He was engaged, went over the menu and was nice. We will ask for Lynn again!

Yelp
Lou & Mickey's is great for so many reasons. First, it's located right under the Gaslamp sign and is a perfect spot for people-watching (especially during comic-con). The food is top notch as well as the service. Note, I am writing this review upon my most recent visit, but have been here a few times previously. For this visit we called ahead and made a reservation for a large party and upon arrival, they had our table set and ready for us as well as 2 assigned waiters. Both our waiters worked seamlessly together and were very cordial, helpful and quick. Very commendable since the restaurant was very crowded. Their lunch menu has a good variety of options from the appetizers to entrees to desserts. Our party pretty much ordered one of each appetizer and did they go fast! Not to mention the warm sourdough bread and butter. For the entree of course I had to go with their specialty - hand-cut prime steak all aged for 28-35 days. I ordered my favorite, filet mignon. In line with my other visits, it was absolutely delicious, cooked just right with a crispy outside and the butter melted on top. My side of vegetables balanced it out well. Most of the group also ordered steaks and I only heard rave reviews. To top off the meal, we ordered pretty much the entire dessert menu for our party to share. While they did take a little longer to come out, it was worth the wait. Among my favorites were the vanilla crème brûlée and rustic apple tart. An all around excellent choice and I have been recommending this place to visitors for a while.

Yelp
Food was good, service...not so much. Staff hangs around the bar more than with the clients.

Yelp
We were staying in the Gaslamp quarter so we walked around and found this gem. We arrived around 6:15 p.m. and the tables were full, but we found seats at the bar. Which worked for us. The restaurant has a patio, indoor seating and bar seating. We ordered a Jumbo Lump crab cake appetizer, which was so tasty! Then for dinner, I ordered the macadamia nut crusted wild Alaskan halibut which was amazing! My partner ordered an aged steak which was humongous and absolutely delicious. We ordered spinach to share. the bartenders were nice, knowledgeable about the menu, and were responsive to our questions and quick to get us refills. It is a bit pricey but worth the cost.

Veronica A.P. M.

Yelp
What an incredible experience. I was made to feel special from the moment I reached the hostess check-in. It didn't stop there. As I reached our table it was decorated with rose petals, a reserved cow statue and a birthday card signed by the staff. In addition, everyone greeted me by acknowledging my birthday and so many employees of L&M stopped by to ensure our dining (Jim, Jeremy and Kyle) experience was top notch and we were enjoying our meal. Our server Jeff was incredible. He was not only friendly, but efficient and organized and attended to our every request. He even demonstrated how to create the steak sandwiches we ordered. Finally, Jeremy and Kyle pulled all the stops and made my day as they arranged for me to have my favorite dessert . We will most definitely return. Your team is top notch
google avatar

Yelp
Got the 45 and 60 day dry aged rib eye steak with the following 3 sauces Bordelaise Peppercorn Horseradish Wanted to try the 60d steak but found out the peculiar flavors that developed at that stage weren't to my taste. The 45d and it was good but not mouth watering. Also the oyster sampler: Laguna bay (cheapest) had minimal flavor Kumamato and Kalpara were larger and briny without being overpowering Sautéed spinach was just ok. Had to add salt. Mashed potatoes had an extra flavor to it that one of us didn't like. Added salt to this too. Even though the restaurant was very busy, the service was still good. Drinks were not empty long and were refilled quickly.
google avatar

Anny D.

Yelp
Good location. Good steak salad. Unfortunately, these were about the most I can say that was good. Food was on the dry side and the flavor was way off. The calamari was extra salty. The club was bready and lacking the fillings. The beef dip didn't have much meat and over toasted, so it was hard. Dip sort of helped make it soft to eat. Clam chowder was watery. Not creamy at all. Service was subpar as well. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food, it was over 30 minutes. High priced. Low quality. Not worth it.

Yelp

Yelp
It was amazing. They were running a bit behind (likely related to it being 4th of July), but the service, the food, the experience is one to be remembered. If you only do it once, I highly recommend the in house Daily Cut. The meat was superb. By the time we were seated they had sold out on most of the cuts, but this beautiful 28 oz Bone-In Ribeye was tender, fatty and was the perfect bite. My boyfriend loved his oysters, but he said the lobster was the star of the show. While the Filet Mignon was delicious, he wished had gotten the two lobster tail plate. (The perfect reason to go back again!!) I definitely recommend Lou & Mickey's. The ambiance has that classic old school steakhouse feel. The staff is amazing. Our server was attentive and continually checked on us throughout our meal. I can't wait to go back!!!!

Yelp
Ordered take out steak and potatoes. Cooked perfectly. Tasty and hit the spot. I've heard good things about eating in as well. Easy meal Togo...

Yelp
Great food and service! I dines alone at the bar and the servers were so friendly. The steak was cooked perfectly and I loved the convenient location next to my hotel.

Yelp
We dined here for my anniversary weekend in SD, what a wonderful experience and meal. They were so accommodating and pleasant. The atmosphere is busy and sporty, full bar. Oysters and Ahi tuna were my choices. They offer a free dessert for you anniversary buy my choice wasn't available to go sadly. I would dine here again upon returning to the area.

Yelp
Wine list and bread basket solid 10/10! The food lacked salt but pretty tasty for the most part. Our server was great and made sure we were good the whole time. I could be convinced to give this place another shot.

Yelp
Went yesterday for my mother in laws birthday with a big group (~15 people) and everything was great! No corking fee for wine (unheard of in downtown) and so we brought in a big bottle of nice red wine to have with dinner. We were also able to bring in some mini Bundt cakes for dessert which the server handed out after dinner. They had the table set and ready when we arrived with flower pedals on the table and took our drink order right away. Service and atmosphere was great, definitely got high level steak house vibes. I split a caesar salad, 14oz grassfed rib eye, mashed potatoes and asparagus side. They split the salad and entree for us and serving size was perfect. Would definitely go back soon. Service and food was fantastic.

Yelp
While the parking is a pain (valet is an option), this place is definitely worth eating at. Our server was amazing and I loved the feel of the restaurant itself. Service itself was a bit slow as our entrée took forever to come out even though the restaurant wasn't packed. My boyfriend and I were seated next to a window showing the cuts of meat, which was pretty cool. We got a few drinks to start with and they were pretty weak and not the best I've had. For appetizers, we got the Wild Spanish Octopus and Oysters. The octopus was good and I liked the sauce it came with, but it's definitely not in my top 10 for grilled octopus. The oysters were very hit or miss. We got the oyster sampler and got to try each one they offered. We both agreed that our favorites were the Rincon De Ballenas (Baja, California) and Malpeque (Malpeque Bay, Pei). Some of the other ones had no flavor whatsoever, which was disappointing. Normally I don't like the sauces they give for oysters, but the green one was soo good! Entrée time! We decided to split the Chateaubriand steak with sides of Fire Roasted Broccolini and Sautéed Mushrooms. The broccolini was okay, wouldn't get it again, but the mushrooms! I am new to liking mushrooms and this was really great! Our server recommended this as a side and we're glad we listened to him. As for the Chateaubriand steak. Best steak I think I've ever had in my life. There's only one size, but it was worth every penny. The steak was cooked perfectly with a beautiful charred outside. I may have ruined steak for me with how amazing this was. Even though not everything was perfect, I will 100% be coming back here!

Yelp
Cool place with a nice big bar in downtown near trolley line. Busy, fun area to eat on the patio and still be a part of the happenings. We 1 at had to find the front door. We apparently aren't the only ones who try to enter from wrong side. :( once seated at a high top it took a few to get service. Once we did, our server was kind. Got us drinks. We also got burgers even though they're not in menu. Most steal houses will do this. We ordered medium rare. They came back as shoe leather. No joke, my edges were so overcooked it peeled off. I had to spit out into my napkin. I've never had to do this. Both burgers were overcooked! We obviously sent back. They had come so late we were over ordering something else at this point. Of course our server took them off our bill. The drinks were good, thank God. Parking is street so can be a nightmare.

Yelp
I came here for an anniversary with my partner and we were very touched that they decorated the entire table with rose petals. We ordered Clam Chowder, Clams Linguine, Ribeye Steak, and received a complimentary dessert, Crème brûlée. The Clam Chowder wasn't the best. It had a thick, creamy consistency and contained more potatoes than expected. I was also a bit disappointed that each dish only had approximately 7-10 clams. However, they were nice enough to split the dish for me and my partner without us having a mess. The Clams Linguine, on the other hand, was delicious. They definitely provided a generous amount of clams, most of which were open. I really loved how a great amount of garlic and white wine was incorporated into each bite. The noodles weren't al dente, but they were still tasty. The Ribeye Steak was cooked perfectly to our liking--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. As for the Crème brûlée, it was a perfect way to end our meal. We had the option to choose a different type of dessert, but we chose this specifically for the real vanilla ingredient. This dessert was torched beautifully, contained a generous amount of vanilla, and had the perfect amount of sweetness. Overall, I would love to come back. The interior is gorgeous, and it reminded me of movies where people would go to on their first date. The only downside was the wait and parking.

Yelp
Not a tourist trap even though right by Gaslamp and convention center- old school steakhouse charm, waiters very friendly and knowledgeable. Oysters fresh, bone -in ribeye perfect for sharing Would go again in a heartbeat!

Yelp
Yummy and the service was great! The drinks were incredible. The Del Sol, Old Fashioned and then White Linen- in that order The fries were chewy and not great, but the staff went to great efforts to make it up to us! We will be returning!

Yelp
Had dinner here while visiting San Diego. We ordered the grass fed ribeye and 12oz filet, both cooked medium. For sides we got mashed potatoes and broccolini. Food was amazing, atmosphere was perfect and our server was attentive and helpful. We'll be back!

Yelp
It was Black Friday 2023. Instead of shopping, I went to eat (obviously)!! I had actually wanted to go to another steakhouse that was a local favorite, but when I got there, it wasn't open. A quick Yelp Search and short walking distance later, my friend and I ended up at Lou & Mickey's. According to their website, Lou & Mickey's pride themselves in a timeless and classic American steakhouse experience in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. They have been around for at least 17+ years! My friend and I ordered the following: - One If By Land Cocktail - Grapefruit Vodka, Elderflower, Honey, Lemon - Margarita Verde Cocktail - Mezcal, Lime Juice, Agave, Basil, Cucumber, Jalapeno - Crispy Coconut Wild Jumbo Shrimp (Lunch Menu) - Raw Clams (Raw Bar Menu) - Rib Eye Steak - Dry Aged - 45 Days (Daily Cut Menu) - Ordered Medium Rare - Wild Mexican Mahi Mahi (Lunch Menu) - Key Lime Pie - Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake Everything was fresh and delicious. My faves? Cocktails and Dry Aged Rib Eye Steak!! Ambiance is quiet and relaxing. Service was amazing. Our waitress pretty much lived and died by a good steak! Yelp
I wanted to share some feedback about my recent visit on Valentine's Day. My parents have always raved about your restaurant, so I was really looking forward to the experience. The food absolutely lived up to the hype--everything was delicious, and I can see why it's so highly regarded. However, I was really disappointed with the service. Our server was inattentive, unengaged, and didn't provide the level of hospitality I expected from a restaurant of your reputation. Given that it was a special occasion, this made the experience feel underwhelming and not what I had hoped for. She was rushing us and got our dessert to go without asking. I wanted to bring this to your attention because I know Lou & Mickey's is known for both great food and great service. I hope this was just an off night and that future visits will live up to the high expectations my parents have always set.

Yelp
What has happened to Lou and Mickey's? It was always one of my favorite places, but the last 3 or 4 times I've dined there, the service was inattentive at best and the food was marginal. They have even started charging $11.00 for bread. A hi end steak house charging for bread? Are you kidding? I have high hopes that it will return to the great place it was

Yelp
Perfect service. Pricey lunch but we got ribeye. Three shrimp for the appetizer was kind of small for the price. Ambience was nice. Overall decent.

Yelp
Good steak, attentive service, nice ambiance. A nice dinner complemented after a great Nutcracker Ballet performance by the Golden Ballet School.

Yelp
Was in town from out of state on my birthday and decided to indulge a little. Food was excellent- American Wagyu, oysters, cream brûlée. Service was outstanding, waiter was on point and recommendations were flawless. Great atmosphere with white table cloth dining and a casual bar full of energy. Thank you for a wonder experience!

Yelp
You know, because of its location in the Gaslamp District, we thought Lou & Mickey's was going to be a tourist trap with mediocre food and sub-standard service. We were wrong - partially. The service from Dustin was GREAT! He was a fantastic server - smart, funny, accommodating and helpful! He has a great sense of humor and we enjoyed talking with him! Actually, all personnel from the hostess, to the manager, to the guy who delivered the food, were very good! We had stopped in for a snack. One bowl of clam chowder, one bowl of French Onion Soup and one order of steak tacos. The soups were good but the tacos were AWESOME!!! The tacos were as good as any you can get at a gas station or street taco stand. The quality of the ingredients was excellent! The steak, while cut up, was served medium rare, and tasted like a luxury cut of meat. We really wished that we did not have reservations at a fancy, high priced restaurant for later that night. I guess that expectations have a lot to do with the quality of the reviews. At Lou & Mickey's, we did not expect much but they delivered 100% great food and stellar service! Plus the price point was low enough to keep our wallets happy too. I wholeheartedly recommend Lou & Mickey's to anyone in San Diego. Just make sure you get Dustin to be your server!!!

Yelp
My bf went here for HH with coworkers and he liked it so much we came back the following day! We didn't get a chance to try the steak but they have a dry aged barrel room just for their meat which was super unique and mouth watering. They get all their meat from R&R ranch and they're owned by the company they source all their fish from so it's super fresh. The espresso martini was sweetened with almond extract which I had never experienced before. The oyster sampler platter was so yummy and not fishy at all. My favorite were the oysters from Mexico! We split the sea bass which was cooked absolutely perfectly and crispy on the outside on a bed of crispy potatoes

Yelp
The vibe is lovely and elegant but doesn't feel too posh or put-offish. I was alone for a conference so I was sat at a bar booth which was very comfortable. My waitress was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately one of my medallions came out much more rare than I care for (please don't come at me). I told her just to let her know why I wasn't eating it. She offered to have it replaced but I was already mostly through my meal. Instead they agreed to dessert, of which I was VERY delighted. All in all get atmosphere, great staff, great food and drink. Pricey but fair for their demographic. Good for a special occasion (or if work is paying lol). Absolutely would recommend.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Waited and waited for service. Other white patrons were served except us. I walked out.

Yelp
This was our second trip to Lou & Mickey's. We live in Orange County, but our son goes to college in San Diego, so we like to treat him occasionally when we visit. Last night was a wonderful experience yet again. Kyle was our server. Filet Medallions "Three Ways" is my son's and my goto. The ladies with us has Linguine with Clams. We all shared Oysters and bread to start and wonderful, perfectly balanced cocktails. The "One if by Land", "Pine Avenue" and "White Linen" were all solid choices from the cocktail menu. Apple Tart and Creme Brulee for dessert with cappuccino. A great time was had by all. Will definitely be back.
