So we've had the competitor's pizza , but it's been a while. So while in Chicago, we had to try Lou's. Let's start with the buffalo wings (boneless). They don't get better than this. No gristle-y parts, light breading without clumps of breading and no meat. Just pure chicken breast with the perfect spicy buffalo sauce. The only improvement would've been having blue cheese dressing, they were just superb. Then we got to the pizza. We had this meal delivered, and we're at an Airbnb, so I had to have the restaurant cut the pizza even though they warned against it with delivery. Guys, it was amazing. The sauce was the best, THE BEST, and I don't normally like chunky tomato sauce. This was seasoned so well and was perfect. The sausage layer was great, and we also added pepperoni. The sauce sold it for me, though. Others in my group raved about the crust and cheese, and yeah, those were tasty, have I mentioned the sauce? I'd definitely get this pizza again, and it will remain a special, unforgettable meal in my memory. Oh, and the cookies were fine. Very sugary -like I could discern the granulated sugar. That's not for me.

Google
Decent little tucked away carry out spot. Maneuvering can be a bit tight, but you can also exit onto the alley behind the complex. Food is typical for lous and pretty solid

Google
Lou Malnati's is our favorite Chicago deep dish pizza. We have always been pleased with the Bucktown location for carry out. The pizza is consistently delicious and pipping hot when we pick it up. There are many options for pizza in Chicago but Lou's is definitely our top choice! On the very few times that our order wasn't perfect, they did everything to rectify the issue quickly. The people who work in this particular location are always pleasant too! My only disappointment is with the Lou Malnati's app. It has many quirks and makes ordering a bit difficult at times. This is not a reflection on the Bucktown location, however! If you're a fan of deep dish pizza, you will not be disappointed with Lou Malnati's!

Google
I placed a delivery 3 days BEFORE Valentine’s Day. They decided to cancel my order 20 minutes before it was due to be delivered ON Valentine’s Day. They sent an email with no explanation, just to contact the store. The store has had me on hold for 30+ minutes and then HUNG UP. This was incredibly unprofessional and lazy of this location to not even provide a reason why they canceled and then to not answer phones is unacceptable.

Google
Had my first gluten free Chicago deep dish pizza and it was amazing!

Google
The crust was good. For what it was worth; pretty expensive pizza. I got the Lous pizza in a medium Size and it cost $28. The pizza is very filling, though. I had to transport this back, so it got really soggy. This is best eaten fresh at the restaurant, but there is no where to dine in inside. Service was meh. I can see the appeal, but not my favorite style of pizza.

Lou Malnati's sausage crust pizza is a testament to their dedication to quality and innovation. An unforgettable and indulgent dining experience that will leave you craving more. This is a must-try for any pizza aficionado or anyone seeking a truly unique and delicious meal.

Google
Deep dish. Deep love. @loumalnatis you had me with your massive sausage... pizza Dinner total: $32 each Open: year round Seating: none Parking: off-street Order: 1 Chicago Classic and 1 Veggie. Pros: Blew my mind. Not just a sprinkle of sausage as a topping. NO. A WHOLE LAYER OF SWEET ITALIAN SAUSAGE PERFECTION. As a huge fan of sausage pizza, this is the best. I've. Ever. Had. Cons: They ship their pizza anywhere so what was supposed to be a fling can turn into a weekend reunion anytime you're in the mood.

Yelp
We've been ordering delivery from this location for years and they never disappoint. The pizzas are always delivered hot and amazing. Their deep dish is king, but their thin crust is also so good and so crispy! I recommend ordering buttercrust and all pizzas well done. The people who work there are cool too, nice service.

Sidéwon Andre N.

Yelp
This was my 2nd visit to Chicago so I had to try a different version of deep dish! Previously I had Pequod's and found that not tasty at all as the pizza was all bread, had a strong yeast taste and literally absorbed the sauce into the bread! Lou Malnati's I found much better! The contrast of bread to toppings and sauce was done very well and I see why people say it's one of the best! I've tried Giordano's but in Vegas and it was a small portion so I will have to give that 1 more shot to see who is the winner but I can agree that Lou Malnati's is a brand you can trust! Not to mention they are everywhere!

Yelp
Shatera is wonderful, actually she's actually one of the nice people there she's like one of the nicest people that I have ever gave a big tip to make sure to tip her because she's actually wonderful. She's nice and she does her job so well guess what guys if you ever want to eat there please make sure to go there. She is great The food tastes delicious and everybody in the businesses are great too. OK make sure to tip her OK please her she's a wonderful woman I promise and I'm not gonna be mean she's a perfect perfect perfect person. She's really nice. Sometimes she'll have her daughter there. Her daughter name is Janae and she's so cute and she's 10 years old so don't treat her like she's a baby, but she is so sweet too. I promise.

Yelp
Extremely rude staff. Gave me the wrong pick up time. They denied it aggressively and were very impatient. The employee at the register was named 'Efrain M'.

Tom K.

Yelp
Our first stop every time we visit Chicago. Best deep dish in town. Get the buttercrust!

Melanie H.

Yelp
Got so many recs to come to a branch of this pizza shop when in Chicago and I'm glad a fellow pizza lover and I went to check it out! This particular location can be really hard to find (before the brick entrance thing) because it's really small and hidden in a corner so we had to circle the area a couple of times but the people that work there were so fun and lively! While this place does sound like the Illuminati, the only mystical part about it is how they made their pizza so delicious! If you're in the Chicago area and are looking for a place to experience your pizza fix, would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Candi S.

Yelp
Perfect deep dish, and garlic bread! We got delivery and it was super fast and good was super hot.

Anthony M.

Yelp
I needed a new pizza spot because the last 2 times I visited a Giordano's location; they just didn't have that signature buttery crust flavor I fell in love with. Lou Malnati was the spot I opted for and what a great choice I made. I ordered my pizza online and picked it up on my drive back to St Louis. The pizza was hot and delicious. Everything was how I asked ie uncut and light on the sauce. Their pizza dough, mozzarella cheese, and pizza sauce do not contain any alcohol. Lou Malnati's mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and romano cheese are all made with a vegetable rennet, not an animal rennet. If you're in Chicago ,check them out.

Yelp
We stopped here on Wednesday, November 6, as we were heading back home to Des Moines. Plan was to pick up some pizzas to take back to Iowa to heat up at home. We got there 5 minutes after they opened, and we were greeted by a very helpful, friendly and professional gent. I wanted to mention the date, as I didn't get his name, but he was a great representative of this Malnati's location. A tip of the hat to this guy. We took four pies to go, and just finished the last one this week. We took sausage and cheese pizzas home with us. They were all awesome. The dough is so beautifully delicate with the perfect amount of crunch and a slight sweetness. Great sauce and the sausage was impressive. Wish there was a Malnati's in this town! Remember, you can order Malnati's on goldbelly website. I've ordered them to be delivered to those friends who you really love.

Madison B.

Yelp
I regrettably ordered a personal pizza, which I've read from other reviewers is a no-no if you want the traditional deep dish flavor. I left Lou Malnati's thinking maybe I just didn't like deep dish, but then had Pequod's the following day and changed my mind. While the butter crust is indeed buttery, I don't think the pizza is nearly as flavorful as it could be. I love cheese that is almost or partially burnt and a doughy bread, but if your preferences are different, Lou Malnati's could be the one for you!

Scott B.

Yelp
Lou's is a staple in Chicago; great convenient pizza that you can't really go wrong with. I always prefer their tavern style but always a great go to for parties. Service is quick and affordable prices.

Marsel S.

Yelp
Terribel attitude and behavior from pick up side. The guys literally creamy to customer as well as delivery drivers. Fire this guy!

Don't E.

Yelp
We got the Malnati Chicago Classic and Deep Dish the Lou. Both of them were so good! My only thing is that the sauce is a bit runny.

Kiley J.

Yelp
Came to Chicago for the first time and was told this place was a no-brainer to visit. Their deep-dish is amazing and definitely not doughy like Giordanos or other deep dished pizza some can be. Their appetizers were amazing, too! Our favorite was their chicken wings and fried zucchini and mushrooms (definitely order their appetizer sampler). We didn't take pics of their pizza but we ordered their small pizzas to share with 3 people was fulfilling enough with only like one slice leftover! The 'Malnati Chicago Classic' and 'The Lou' pizza are a must get when you're eating here!

Angela Y.

Yelp
You cant go to Chicago without trying their famous deep dish pizza! I've heard from locals and tourists that this is the place to go. We tried to go (but it was so packed) before our fancy Michelin starred dinner and I'm really glad we didn't because BOY were these filling! So we came bright (11 AM) instead and had no problems finding a table. We had the Malnati Chicago Classic and added hot giardiniera. It came out pipping hot and FULL of meat. The cheese was perfect and stringy and the hot giardiniera had a perfect amount of heat. A small had 4 thicc slices so we were soooo full at the end. We also had the malnati salad which had romaine lettuce, bruschetta tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms, salami bits and gorgonzola cheese with sweet vinaigrette and romano cheese- This is one of the best salads I've had in a while We even carried 4 of these in frozen version and smuggled them across the boarder! I definitely recommend adding this to your Chicago eats!

Erin R.

Yelp
So happy with my experience here! My friend and I are visiting Chicago and all of our friends recommended this place for delicious deep dish pizza. Boy did they live up to expectations! The staff was so kind and could tell it was our first time there. They guided through how to order, and even gave us tips on how to have our pizza cooked and how to get the most bang for our buck! I will totally be recommending this place to anyone I know visiting Chicago

Johnathan S.

Yelp
Perfect pizza and pasta right on the money. Great service definitely recommend Chicago staple.

Jen W.

Yelp
Amazing! Friends kept recommending we go here while in Chicago and it did not disappoint. If travel had been easier, I would've taken a frozen one home! I liked this much better than other deep dish pizza I tried in Chicago.

Randy H.

Yelp
We've been enjoying stuffed spinach pizzas since living here for a year back in the '80's. Lou's is a good solid Chicago stuffed pizza with its own special taste and texture. Always good, always fresh. We did delivery for this one and it arrived ahead of schedule (45 minutes) and the extra marina sauce was great. A large fed 6 moderately hungry adults so made a pretty affordable dinner for travel weary folks. Even the 4-year old enjoyed a piece. In retrospect I think the Lou's Special would be preferred. But the regular spinach was hard to beat.

Ann C.

Yelp
Love Chicago pizza when I am in town. Try a new place every time purchased a couple to take back with me

Mag T.

Yelp
Ordered the Malnati deep dish pizza and it was just ok. The sauce was extremely watery and was all over the cardboard box. The sausage on the pizza isn't crumbled but instead a thick layer of sausage on the entire pizza. Giordanos is much better and they have a meatlovers option on the menu instead of a think layer of sausage. Will not return.

Kennedy B.

Yelp
Delicious. Looks like the photos. Our cheese pull was truly exciting. The roasted tomatoes tasted sweet and the cheese was baked to stringy perfection.

Lawrence C.

Yelp
This was a well-known pizza place that we saw online before our trip to Chicago, and I have to say that I'm really glad I came here! Pre-covid, this place was really crowded and so we had to wait a while to be seated. The inside can fit a decent number of people, and the servers there were pretty nice and welcoming. For the food, this pizza is hands-down the best deep-dish pizza that I've had so far. The portion sizes are huge (as expected from deep-dish), with thick crust that's crispy and hot. The flavors are great, with a ton of sauce and cheese that make it an excellent pizza. It comes pretty hot so be careful to not burn your tongue, but after that the pizza is thoroughly enjoyable and one of the best overall pizzas I've had. Overall, while the wait may be long it's definitely worth it to try one of the best deep-dish places in Chicago!

Camryn D.

Yelp
The food was excellent, as always. There were lots of toppings and I felt like I got my money's worth. The woman working the counter was very kind and helpful. I loved her customer service skills, as she made me feel welcomed and comfortable while we were waiting for our food. Excellent place!

Sai S.

Yelp
Came back to Chicago after a trip to NYC and was unfortunately disappointed by the pizza representation. I ordered the "Lou" with a few extra toppings. I am not the big deep dish fan but had heard great things about the thin crust pizza here. Sadly it did not even get close to the bar, let alone meet it. To my dismay the pizza, a personal, was much smaller than I expected. Typically single pizzas are at least 8-10 " diameter. I asked for the pizza to be well done for crispier edges which did help make it crunchy, but the middle of the pizza was undercooked. Somehow the entire pie was flavorless and lacked any interesting texture besides mushy. Hope to come back another time and give some of their other specialties a chance, but I definitely had heightened expectations going into it.

Margaret P.

Yelp
TL;DR: This review is in regards to their frozen pizza! I really wanted to bring some good pizza back home to my friends. I've heard good things about Lou Malnati's and wanted to give this place a try. My belly was full to the brim with deep dish, so I knew I couldn't eat anymore at that very moment. We found out that this pizza shop sells frozen pizza that you can even fly back home with! SCORE! I ordered the veggie and the sausage pizza. MY GAHHHH....the pizza was sooooo darn good. I'm so happy I got to try Lou Malnati's at the comfort of my home in Los Angeles!

Greg S.

Yelp
Does not answer the phone. Complete ghost on the order. Not good enough food to deal with that

Erin C.

Yelp
Good deep dish option. The sauce was ok but we got The Lou which lacked the savory flavor. Easy to order and easy to pick up at this carry out only location.

Jeannie L.

Yelp
After being told "Maybe I am having a bad night" by a supervisor when waited 15 mins without anyone saying anything to me or given my change after payment...I am positive there are better places near Damen and Milwaukee to get pizza from. The pizza is a 5 star pizza but the customer service or rather lack of it this evening makes this place a "not worth it". Before anyone jumps on me about giving the workers a break I will say thats BS bc there were 4 employees in the front all standing around socializing, looking down, and purposely not talking to anyone in the lobby. If the preference is curbside pick up ....as stated on their own website...then why on this evening none of the employees were going out delivering to the cars? Maybe this place is only good when delivered...as my initial review was for their delivery. Two stars .... bc while the pizza is great I have had waaaaay better interaction getting my food.

Doug W.

Yelp
I mean, between all the deep dish I've had, Lou's ain't the worst but I honestly liked Gino's east in Miracle mile better. I hated Giordanos, and Lois is just okay... All this being said, the style of pizza is generally trash, I'm a New Yorker and you're all lesser humans for liking this casserole crap. Lol

Dana M.

Yelp
One of my favorite pizza places in Chicago. I also love their Lou salad and dressing.

Jay F.

Yelp
Pandemic precautions: Online orders only with curbside pick-up. Customer service: 3/5 Food was not ready in time. Small customized deep dish: 5/5 Very good, love pizza from lou malnati's. Always get buttercrust. Caesar salad: 5/5 Decent and basic salad, but the delicious fatty dressing is whats up.

Sam R.

Yelp
Just so you know I for the frozen pie shipped shipped out to the West Coast. It was expensive but I wanted to get that taste so bad I didn't care The sauce was great but the meats and crust just didn't do it for me. So it's not a knock on a fresh made pie just know if you are expecting the same thing in getting a frozen one, well It ain't gonna happen Later

Alex S.

Yelp
This is the best Lou's in the city low key. You can smell it from 3-4 blocks away. Fast, friendly and make the best wings and salads. I love you Lou!

Debbie O.

Yelp
Cleanliness: 3 Quality: 5 Service: 5 Taste: 4 All fresh ingredients. The pizza was cooked perfectly and tasted great! The sausage in the Malnati wasn't a hit with us because we aren't sausage lovers but overall a delicious tasting pizza! The Lou was a perfect vegetable medley! The quality of ingredients here is evident in the taste and overall outcome! Loved it!

Miguel M.

Yelp
Really enjoy their pizza and this place offers the both take out or delivery. You can customize the pizza if you call or order on their application and I have enjoyed their thin crust plus their promotions. These last times, they do curb side pick up so they do come out to know what you are picking up and they will bring it out to you. They have free parking and you may walk up to pickup. Will come back.

Laura R.

Yelp
The Netflix depiction of Lou's is right on the money! I have been saying that since before l stop ordering from you guys. It's just not pizza! No cheese for a deep dish! A joke! It's Just a blob of "cement like mass"! I never got a refund for the crappy pizzas I received. So take it now,! Is the exact description of what you served! Sorry . I miss Lous it went to crap!

kathryn c.

Yelp
Delicious- did not disappoint. The cheese and the tomato sauce on the malnati special was out of this world flavor. Don't be fooled by the circumference of the pizza- one slice of a medium is filling and all each of us could eat. Wish I lived closer to enjoy this more often

Shirlane C.

Yelp
Ordered carryout from this location the other day. It was a quick process to order our pizza online and scheduled the pick up. We arrived a few minutes after the scheduled pick up time. This particular location has limited parking spots and the lobby was currently closed. An associate (with a mask on) walked out and asked for the name on the order. Upon giving her the name on the order, she retrieved our order and handed it to us all while we were standing outside. We ordered a small original deep dish and it was delicious. The pizza stayed hot and the crust was still crispy when we ate it about 15 minutes after picking it up. The sauce was very flavorful and had a good depth. Although it was very filling, it didn't leave me feeling like I had eaten way too much. The small was perfect for two people to share.

Scott P.

Yelp
Well we are visiting from Detroit. Great pizzerias there. But Chicago has a rep for pizza that sets the bar. Ordered from Lou's. About an hour to get it delivered. Expected wait time for a good pie and wings in the city. Spent all day in the car and the 4 of us were starving. Killed the chicken wings immediately. Sauce was awesome. Pizza wasn't cut. That's odd I specified for a cut since we are in an Air BNB and do not know what we have. Cut into the pizza and started to eat. It was vegetarian and had the 2 things one of my kids hate... tomatoes and mushrooms. Now don't get me wrong, the pizza was good. My wife thoroughly enjoyed it. It just wasn't my order. Thankfully I saw the name on the receipt and it wasn't me. Gave them a call and they are going to make it right in about an hour. So at least I will be able to have the pie I ordered and my kid will get to enjoy pizza. After 6 hours in the car he's a little hangry. So until I can review the pie I ordered, you get 3 stars. See you in an hour and then maybe will get more stars. Ok 30 minutes later my pizza arrived. It looks like the original order. May have intercepted the delivery driver before he dropped it off to the wrong house. I'll give you 1 more for a total of 4. Pizza was luke warm. Crust is rock hard. Had the original order number on it. I was told it would be a remake. I don't mean to be a jerk but it it what it is. For $34 I did expect more flavor. But it is a good pie. For a laugh, the driver called and o came down and her was at the house across the street. He was tying. Don't want to make me him feel bad. It made me laugh though. Mistakes happen.

Tits M.

Yelp
Avoid Wicker Park location! Was very watery with no flavor. Ordered classic deep dish and the "Lou" deep dish. Tastes like a frozen pizza that was thrown in the oven. Crust was very mushy and I can't stress enough how it tasted just like water. Also, it's carry out only. Only go to the Michigan Ave location.

Kat B.

Yelp
The pizza is only ok. I'm taking time out to write a negative review because the delivery driver has made me very uncomfortable. He has called me multiple times on my personal number asking if I want to talk to him more. Very strange behavior.

Kevin W.

Yelp
Lou Malnati's is the franchise king of deep dish pizza in Chicago. This is a take out only location. Limited time, private parking lot. Cannot walk around if you park here. Ordered over the phone. Took 20 minutes to bake. Did not want to have to sit around waiting for it to cook. They have a freezer section to buy bake at home pies. Chicago Classic, personal - $9.95 - Comes with sausage. Crust is thick, good crisp, and super buttery. Still a good size for me and the wifey to share, you get bored and full fast eating a lot of this.

Kim J.

Yelp
No, I do NOT recommend this business. The STAFF gave me attitude and hurled false and SLANDEROUS accusations at me. I do not need THAT. The pizza wasn't "burned" so I'm giving two stars instead of ONE, which these nasty people, whom belong with other NASTY people at "Jenny's" "ice cream", DESERVE. Do YOURSELF a favor: Get your Lou Malnatis pizza at JEWEL!

Liam H.

Yelp
Really disappointed with the thin crust here. Asked for well done and it came super floppy and the crust was borderline undercooked. On top of that the cheese had no flavor and felt plasticy. This reminded me of a frozen home run in pizza when you pull it out 5 minutes too early. For the price very disappointing. I'd take costcos pizza over this thin crust. Maybe the deep dish is better or I just ordered on a off night

AJ H.

Yelp
I'd eat here weekly if I could. Lou's is money and this location does a great job with carry out. The pizza is fresh, buttercrust always excellent, and it always nails the signature Lou's flavor. The Lou's salad is an unsung hero of this Chicago institution as well. Huge portions, great dressing, everything you could ask for!

Lisa A.

Yelp
Horrible service . Also when I called they hang up twice. This was so unprofessional. The order was completely wrong! The guy at the front was rude! Also he charge me for dressing. No one should go there, Horrible

Mackenzie O.

Yelp
A Chicago classic!! One of the best deep dish options according to locals. This specific location is to-go only but food comes out quickly. Great deep dish and salads.

Luis Aaron M.

Yelp
Great place! Just be aware this location is take out only. Love the food but don't expect to dine-in. Go to other locations for that. They are very nice and make tasty pizza!
