Louie’s - Review - Knox/Henderson - Dallas - The Infatuation

"Whether Louie’s is a bar with great pizza, or a pizzeria with great drinks doesn’t matter, because as long as they keep pairing martinis with bread covered in cheese, you’ll be happy. They’ve been serving some of the best thin-crust pizza in Dallas for over 30 years and you’ll want to start your night here or grab a bite after a long day. It’s a tough choice between the sausage and onion pizza and the pepperoni jalapeno pizza, but if you come with enough people, just get both. And then secretly order the spaghetti and giant meatballs as well, because when you’re drinking that many martinis, it’s the responsible choice." - Landen Kerr

This is the FUN place to dine for exceptional food and not just pizza. The atmosphere is a bit loud but it’s a dive! My food was perfect! The martini 🍸 excellent. Lip Smacking Good! 😊

Some of the best pizza I’ve had anywhere in North America. The cocktails are very generous. If you don’t like service with an attitude, then don’t go here. They can back up the attitude with the AMAZING food. I’ll be back!! P.S The sign is on the ground from a storm, but they are open!!

Had to wait about 25 minutes on a Sunday, so plan ahead. The brick walls and dim lighting feels very Chicago. Add in all the Chicago sports memorabilia and you'd think you were back home. I ordered a medium with 4 toppings. Which was just enough for a hungry man appetite. The pizza was a great take on Chicago tavern style with a slightly thicker but light brick oven type pizza and a sweeter sauce. It was Very good. My only gripe is that my water glass was empty for long periods of time more than once but when I looked around, no one with a cocktail or beer had an empty glass. Still a good meal though.

Google
Pizza was good, but did not meet expectations. Thin crust, not NY style, but a very good crust. Good crunch, but was over cooked and too flaky/burnt. Sauce was a little too sweet for my liking and didn't seem to be more than out of a can. Cheese OK. That being said, it was still proobably one of the better crusts and pizza in the area. For the price I thought it was very light on toppings, which were very expensive to add and nothing of note. Did try just a cheese (thr basis for any good pizza place) and the pepperoni. Would I go out of my way again to try? No.

Google
I’ve been here a couple times. Definitely my favorite pizza in Dallas.

I used to go to Louie's in the late 80's, but I never realized they served food, my friends and I just went for drinks, lol. So Saturday night I was invited for dinner and let me just say it was all so delicious. I loved their Ceasar Salad, Pepperoni Pizza and their Shrimp Scampi. Their Red Wine was good too. We had a 20 minute wait but we'll worth it. Not a place if you like nice and quiet more for a fun loud dinning experience. Our waitress was very nice and attentive even though she was very busy. I most definitely will go back.

Google
Louie's has been in Dallas for decades! I always try and find spots in Dallas that have been around a while and try them. It was packed 20 minutes after opening, so get there early. The pizza was wonderful, cut into squares. I loved the atmosphere of the whole place, definitely want to go back again!

Google
We saw Louie's on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. We have family from Waukegan, IL so we had to try it out. I had a pizza & my husband had the meatball sandwich. We were not disappointed. The meatball sandwich had great flavor. The Meatballs were not dry. The sauce & cheese combination was really well done. I had a hamburger, onion & bacon pizza on their thin crust. It was absolutely killer. They know how to make a pizza. The crust was thin, flaky & done just right. The sauce was unlike a pizza sauce I've had before. It was a mild tomato flavor & not overpowering in the slightest. Absolutely recommend their food. My only criticism is they could use more parking.

Yelp
I went here one weekend with some friends and we ate at the bar. We shared a few Large 14" Pepperoni Pizzas $17.00 each. The crust is cracker like, crunchy and semi charred. The cheese has a good pull and the sauce was tasty. The pepperoni topping was a little stingy but a solid pizza overall. It is a pretty small place so parking is limited. The service was alright at best but I would gladly go back for their pizza.

Yelp
Temu timothee Twink behind bar couldn't make a drink to save his/her life! can always count on a bad attitude while being served :)

Yelp
An interesting establishment. Hard to find a parking space. There's almost always a line waiting to get in when they open at 5:30 because of the small dining area. Ambience is a dive bar. First you have to realize that it seems they're kind of pissed you even came there. Definitely the most unfriendly service you will find in Dallas based on my experience but that's part of the charm. They do not want you to set the pace for dinner. In fact, they will tell you it takes over an hour to get a pizza which is not accurate. They say that to get you to order as quickly as possible. Martinis are basic, but also very good. We really like the crab finger appetizer and had two of them. The Greek salads are fantastic. We had two to split between six people, and there was some left over. We went for the pizza, which is ok, but frankly not great. Slightly overcooked in our experience. Prices are reasonable. Lucky for them they already put in a 20% gratuity since they were six of us I guess. As I asked one of my friends at the table about the tip and if he wanted to add more, he said "I'm not tipping people to be insulted". That kind of summed up the wait staff experience.

Stacy J.

Yelp
Greek Salad was amazing and so was the pizza. Staff were fast and attentive. Felt like a NYC or Chicago style dive bar with serval giant TV's. Highly recommend! Next time need to try their martini's

Nicole B.

Yelp
Wish I had read reviews before going out on a night it was below freezing. Their website does not say that you can not get in if you are under 21. The voicemail does say no children, but I don't really think of my 19 year old as a child. We had 6 people in our group. I totally agree that you can have any rules for your establishment that you want, but why would you not post them on your website. People who do not care to waste others people time are the worst.

Yelp
Louie's restaurant is exceptional! They boast ice cold martinis, and they do live up to the fame. The winner of the night was the Greek salad and pizza. The thin crust was exceptional and cheese and toppings are what pizza dreams are made of. Yes, the hostess was a little gruff, but the food well made up for it.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Had the Greek salad, pepperoni pizza and a few beers...Crust was amazing and loved the cheese

Sarah F.

Yelp
Loved Louie's! Very lowkey vibe and the pizza was delicious. Quality of food for price was also great.

Sydney C.

Yelp
This place is horrible the service is worse. the most miserable waitresses you've ever met. they try to make a name out of being rude to the customers but everyone in dallas hates louie's now and the horrible wait staff has brought down a dallas staple.
google avatar

Jenna S.

Yelp
here at LOUIE'S with my Yelp Elite girl (RaCHel) martinis and pizza. This place has a cult following, just so you know no reservations, so show up early. The bar is nice, quaint & dark with great vibes. The Pizza here is impressive. A slightly thin crust with rich tomato sauce and the perfect amount of cheese. You can build your own pizza and there are burger, sandwich, and entree options as well. i love this pizza. Start with a salad or some meatballs and you will certainly be leaving with a smile on your face! The Martini was a little disappointing tonight, usually much better. Overall I highly recommend stopping by for some za and drinks.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
I heard it was a local favorite and this was my first visit. It was packed but I found a spot at the bar. Had the ribeye which was very good and a good portion. Bartender was helpful but busy. Had many locals come in just to pu pizza, which they said was the best in Dallas. Come early or expect a little wait but it's worthy.
google avatar

Larry D.

Yelp
Food was outstanding Meatball app and Alfredo sauce was awesome Clams casino just ok Lamb chops and pork chop was tremendous Pizza was spectacular had three different types especially the gluten free The place was packed and the vibe was great Our server was busy and could have used a lesson in customer service Overall it was a great experience and would go back in a heartbeat
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
People raved about the pizza which I will admit was good. Not the best I've had though. EXTREMELY loud. You literally cannot talk and everyone is sat within inches of one another. God forbid you get sat by a very and loud drunk person, as we were. There were no pleasantries from the hostess. She was there merely to do her job, which she did well. Server was nice and food arrived quickly. Parking is another story though. There isn't any.. I think I counted 4 or 5 spots with no handicap parking. In the future, I would order pizza to-go, but send someone else to pick up, LOL. The noise was too stressful for me.
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
Owners: Why do you allow such rude behavior from your staff?? The hostess with the bullhorn for a mouth that berates you if you don't answer quickly enough has to go! Her favorite thing to do is to say NO! I seriously felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode...does she understand that she's in the service industry? Shrieking Shrek is an embarrassment to your business. Pizza is good though.
google avatar

Eugene R.

Yelp
A fantastic dive bar with food. They're only open from 5:30 pm till 9 pm. Get there early, there was a line to get in. The pizza was excellent. The bartender was skilled. I'll be back.
google avatar

Christian G.

Yelp
Some of the best thin crust pizza in DFW and would get a martini with it. For some reason everyone that works there is just agitated all the time from hostess to the wait staff, no one seemed like they actually wanted to be there. Great food though.
google avatar

Philip M.

Yelp
Wouldn't let me wife in because they have a "strict no kids policy" and since my wife was pregnant it constituted a kid
google avatar

Whitney A.

Yelp
Louie's in Dallas is a staple spot that's worth trying. I give it four stars, mainly because of the service - the food and bar are quick, but the staff isn't the friendliest. The pizza is great. We tried the meatballs on our last visit, and they were good. However, I'd steer clear of the chicken sandwich, and be warned, don't request ranch dressing!
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
I always love Louie's. Yummy garlic Caesar salad, crispy pizza and a strong pour. If you're looking for syrupy service with frills keep looking. Simple, yet great, martini and responsive service if you're patient. There's sports on the tele and a wait if it's busy. This Dallas establishment is worth the visit.

Enix R.

Yelp
Husband spoke wonders of your food, we didn't even get to ordering. Walked out before. Staff is rude. They seemed like they were annoyed with people being there.

Michael L.

Yelp
The outside looks more like a pawn shop than a restaurant. The staff are upset you showed up. Every question you ask is a stupid question. The food was palatable but then again it's pizza. Hard to mess up yet they still managed to burn the crust so bad I removed all of it. Great date spot if you are trying to end the relationship.

Lisa R.

Yelp
The wait staff was horrible. If I wanted to be mistreated I would have found a Dick' s Last Resort. My husband was a close friend of Louie, old Poker buddies from lower Greenville Ave days ,and I know Louie could be gruff but it was part of his charm. The waitress just assumed everyone understood her rules and if not get the hell out. Too bad. After 37 yrs I'll never return. And the other 8 professional ppl in my party will be sure to pass the negative review to others First rule of customer service :negative reviews are more popular and travel further, than positive reviews.

R R.

Yelp
I have been going here for 20 years and I walked out and will never step back in this place. I have sent tons of people here as the food is excellent. However, the redhead waitress/hostess is just a nasty woman. Came to the table and said can I take your drink order so we said sure and we would like to order food as well at the same time. She screamed " I said what do you want to drink did you not hear me". It was unbelievable. We had guests in town and we walked out. I don't need everyone to be over friendly but yelling at your table when you are in the service industry is unacceptable. As much as I love this places food I will never step foot in there or spend my money there. Get rid of the rude staff! You can see multiple reviews where people have been berated by the rude red head!!!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
The hostess is quite literally the worst human being alive. Gave it 3 stars because the vibe is nice.
google avatar

Taylor D.

Yelp
First time here. The martinis are stiff the waitress is stiffer. This gal was rude and I'm not expecting much from a crusty hole in the wall pizza joint. Like just don't be a jerk... anyways the pizza was subpar so all that together we will not be back. I understand the hype if youre leaving smashed due to martinis, but if you're showing up sober, this isn't the place for you

Jeff M.

Yelp
The best pizza i've ever had. Service is absolutely terrible though, but who cares, good pizza.

Dawn D.

Yelp
The Cesar Salad with warm chicken is a must, never disappoints. Sausage and mushroom pizza, sausage from Jimmy's. Cracker crispy thin crust and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The best thin crust in Dallas. Very casual atmosphere and be ready to wait a bit for a table unless you go early. Love you Louie's

Katherine R.

Yelp
This is my first Yelp review EVER, and that says a lot. My boyfriend and I went in for a casual drink and encountered the absolute WORST hostess I've met in my entire life. So disrespectful and rude. While we understand the hype/the place is busy, there is no reason whatsoever to treat customers in such a poor way. Terrible experience and you cannot pay us enough to visit again, not worth it.
google avatar

Tom Z.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza fantastic food in general great little neighborhood bar. Family run operation with the sports field - lots of characters local celebrities adore the walls. Used to be a media hang out in the day when media was king.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Incredibly rude hostess. Won't go back there again even though I frequented this place for decades. The bartender (John) is great. The Owner bartends a lot and he is void of personality. I guess you have to be rude to work there. Also, wasn't able to post this review without selecting a star, it doesn't deserve even one star.

Peter P.

Yelp
Waitress was clearly in a hurry to move me out before closing, 2nd server was much nicer, but overall, not sure what has changed since Triple D came here but mediocre at best.
google avatar

Brittany T.

Yelp
Why is the staff so RUDE??? Martinis aren't cold enough, the pizza is fine, bathrooms are dirty

Carol C.

Yelp
Been going here for decades but am through. That hostess is absolutely the worst woman I have encountered. She gave our table away, even after I showed her the text from my friend that was there, but trying to find a parking place. She then told us it would be an hour wait for a new table. I will absolutely never go back there again. A truly horrible experience.

Ryan B.

Yelp
Do not come here. They are beyond rude for no reason. Clearly they have been hurting since all I've seen is Dallas based "influencers" talking about how you should come here. Clearly their rude unpleasant schtick has caught up with them and business is hurting. Avoid this place and go elsewhere where, why would you want to give people your money that go out of their way to be rude?!? Also, their martinis are trash.

Taylor M.

Yelp
First timer at Louie's this week! The atmosphere was not like many places in Dallas, it had an older feel to it which was really cool! Dirty martini to start followed by a few glasses of a cab. Drinks were delish and priced very well!! Got the meatballs as an app and a pizza for the main course - and both were very good! Definitely some good classic pizza that you can't find everywhere else. Everything was great except for our waitress that kept making the comment about hating the "22-25 year olds that come in here", to other tables by us. She was very moody that they were packed on a Saturday night and acted as if she'd prefer the crowd be only 40 years old & up. Heard her tell several other guests at the bar to move as she was walking by, and not in nice way. If I go back I'd just hope to have a different waitress but everything else was good. You'll be able to recognize her if you go I'm sure :)
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Louie's comes with a few caveats. Prior to arrival, you need to understand that service is probably going to be average and the hostess may not be nice to you. However, if you set your expectations appropriately, they serve a delicious dirty martini and their pizza is top-notch. Evenings can be busy so I would expect to wait. It took about 45 minutes to get a table on Thursday, but we passed the time with cocktails near the bar.

Reagan R.

Yelp
Best pizza and dirty martini out there! Perfect for a date night! Just make sure you get your name on the list early - Sometimes they have to start turning people away because it gets so packed (never a bad sign lol). Love this place so much!

Boyd M.

Yelp
We won't be going back. Hostess and wait staff are rude and nasty. The restaurant and bathrooms are dirty, and the pizza and food quality has dropped several notches. There are a lot of restaurants and bars in Dallas that have better food and significantly better service.
google avatar

Kurt V.

Yelp
Love me some Louie's, a Dallas landmark and legend! Strong drinks, they got your number! Great Food, they got that number too, especially if you like thin crust, almost crackery pizza! The service is always friendly, but not very speedy.
google avatar

Greg F.

Yelp
Assholes run this place...service sucks. Pizza is good but tough to get. It was crowded but felt like they hate making money!!!

James C.

Yelp
This place was awesome - now it's horrible only due to the staff - run as fast as you can - there's better places - the lady that works the front is the worst - I've been here so so many times - pizza is good - again the staff will ruin your evening don't go !!' It's horrible service
google avatar

Blake C.

Yelp
Anyone from Dallas knows that Louie's is an OG spot. Your parents probably brought you here as a kid, and even though the policy has changed, I still come as an adult. The martinis are a must-try and definitely live up to the hype. And let's not forget about the pizzas- they're the other reason you come here. It's a fun and laid-back atmosphere.

Andy M.

Yelp
Excellent food all the way around!!! Pizza has been the best thin crust I have ever anywhere since patronizing the place for over 30 years. The bartenders have always been the best...The waitresses attitudes have always needed adjusting. I attribute it to family working there...Great sports bar and atmosphere! Louie left a legacy... s/ Texandy
google avatar

Craig B.

Yelp
Horrible. Would give zero stars if possible. Been coming for years. Full on attitude from servers(as usual) and shockingly the owner. Big party, they were rude and wouldn't seat us. In fact, owner said didn't want our business. Obviously forgot who helped build his business. 16 friends and everyone we know who frequented that will never go again. Ever.

John H.

Yelp
Bartender and waitress in the bar were the most rude and unprofessional people ever. Bartender slammed his notepad down on bar when we took too long to order. If you are not a regular he treated you like dirt. Decent food and drinks. I wouldn't go back if they offered me free food and drinks due to the bartender.

Brian ..

Yelp
A must try! Get ready for an old skool pizza and beer bar complete with cranky servers and lots of laughs. Beers and martinis are great. Get the meatballs! Pizza to die for. Just your good ol pizza no fancy pa A very fun, casual spot. Boots and county's hats a plenty. . Just do it.
google avatar

Darlene C.

Yelp
This was my first time here! We went on an early evening and parking was a little hard to find but we managed to and I was thankful because I was really craving pizza! We both were! I imagined that many people may have given up after looking for a spot after say 4-5 minutes so we were close but we found one! We walked in and waited to be seated which didn't take long at all. We got a small table and I we ordered our drinks and appetizer. We had the crab claws which came out in a timely manner along with some delicious bread which was fresh and hot! They were delicious and a good appetizer to be shared for 2 people. I think there were like 10-12 in there so if you have more than 2 people you should order more. Next, we ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, black olives and jalapeños which took a bit to come out but they were busy but when your hungry it just seems longer. It was totally worth it though because it came out hot and fresh and tasted great. The crust was thin and they cooked it perfectly! Cheers to the chef that prepared it! We will def go back again and see if this was a 1 time thing as far as the deliciousness of our meal and hopefully it was not! Then I'll post an update. I'm hoping we score a parking spot next time! We are going to try to go just a little earlier the next time prob. Oh, that pizza that was left over super yummy the next morning too!!
google avatar

Katie D.

Yelp
Never in my life have I been treated so horribly by a hostess / waitress! Incredibly rude and disrespectful. Basically threw our waters on the table and walked away. Was annoyed by absolutely everything and barked at us, rolled her eyes and snapped at us for asking questions. The pizza was very good but horrible horrible service. Don't bother!

Lindsey D.

Yelp
This place is legit like Dick's Last Resort. The servers are so rude and condescending to customers. They make you feel like you're inconveniencing them for showing up to give them business. It's on par with an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm...plus they add 20% grat to your bill. We will never go back.
