From food truck to new restaurant, Louie Louie opens in the Northwest with sushi and hibachi dishes | Eater Vegas

"Since 2019 I’ve followed chef-owner Jose Luis Alvarez’s “sushi on the road” food truck as he grew it into a brick-and-mortar, now occupying 2,325 square feet in the Rancho Sierra Shopping Center at Craig Road and Rancho Drive (the space formerly housed Sushi Bar Sage and Kaisho Sushi + Ramen). At Louie Louie Sushi Bar y Más he serves an expanded Japanese-Mexican fusion menu — true to the restaurant’s name there are sushi, nigiri, and sashimi choices alongside tacos, tostadas, and micheladas — and he keeps his hibachi-equipped food truck in operation while offering hibachi-grilled lobster, shrimp, filet mignon, and salmon in the restaurant. The menu also includes poke salads, special and classic rolls, and appetizers such as stuffed jalapeño, gyoza, fried calamari, and shrimp tempura; Alvarez’s resume includes time at Osaka Japanese Cuisine and Solaro by Wolfgang Puck at the Palazzo. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., offers online ordering, and is located at 4408 N. Rancho Drive (702-483-5744)." - Bradley Martin

The fusion here is amazing. The Louie Louie roll is like a hibachi sushi. It’s one of my favorites! The owner and his brother are very welcoming and both very hard working. The whole staff is friendly. My family and I love eating here. One of our local favorites.

Google
Wonderful sushi spot on the north side! Everything looked great and tasted even better. The Happy Joy roll and the Tokyo Roll were amazing! Daily happy hour specials 4-6pm, definitely recommend this place!!

Google
Wow! We found our new fav sushi restaurant in Vegas. The service is fantastic. Food amazing. We ordered the spicy edamame, happy joy roll and Alaskan roll. All were great. The best part- it was 103 outside and they served us icy cold beer in a frosted glass! We highly recommend this restaurant. Their motto: “Our beer is colder than a penguin’s ______!?!”🤩

Incredible and unique rolls, always fresh with a perfect light rice ratio. Flavor is outstanding! Never over sauced and wonderful family who owns and operates this absolute gem of a spot. Mahalo guys

First time here got some to go and it was delightful. So glad to have found a sushi spot close to home that is actually good 😋

Man I love this place. The food is great and very fresh and the service is that family feel you don't really get any more with restaurants. Most places you go they treat you like you're just another customer. Here they actually care about you and take time to get to know you and remember your name when you come in. Who is reasonably priced for a sushi place. Definitely not on the low end of price but still reasonable. It is a little dated with the furniture and some of the booths need some new upholstery work but I ignore all of it because the people are nice and the food is good. 100% would recommend the hibachi even though they don't cook it in front of you it is amazingly good.

Everything os always great everytime we come in. A little expensive but it's not AYCE so that's expected. The quality os good though.

Quiet, spacious, clean, friendly. The food was OUTSTANDING. The poke salad was my absolute favorite — I could have ordered just that and been satisfied!

Yelp
Staff is very friendly and personable. The menu is very large, which I think will appeal to big families or groups of people. *Something for everyone. North Vegas doesn't have many sushi restaurants, this one isn't bad. The Sushi bar is large and they have a good section of beer and drinks. Casual dining. 5 star due to the customer service.

Yelp
Dropped in since i remember trying this last year at an elite event. It's a chill ambiance not upscale rather casual. Seems family ran! I sat at the bar for a quick bit in which i ordered scallops and i believe the 911 roll. The scallops were quite small for the price and the roll was delicious and fresh. Service was consistent from entrance to exit as the server even helped me recall the roll that was available at the event. It was the Caliente roll but I didn't want eel.

Yelp
Went for dinner during happy hour. Many choices. Food was delicious. Prices very reasonable. Service was excellent and quick.

Yelp
HIDDEN GEM type of place. I didn't realize what a nice place it was until I was inside. Super clean through out, tables weren't sticky like some places. Staff was very welcoming, and made sure we were taken care of during our visit. Definitely take advantage of the happy hour specials if you can. We had the filet mignon and shrimp hibachi , it was pricey, but it was totally worth it. Sizzling hot, absolutely delicious and from what I could tell, it is one of their signature items. There were several people that had ordered similar hibachi plates. We ordered three rolls, our favorite was the Tiger Roll.

Yelp
Mid week eats with Hungry Monster. I decided to come out here to get over a Hibachi itch I've had since the day before. I'm glad we came out. Located in the old Albertsons plaza on Craig at Rancho, parking is not too shabby. Greeted as soon as we walked in, and sat right away. It's quiet and clean. Choices to sit We're sushi bar or booth or table. Of course, we chose booth. The interior decor is cute. There is plenty of Japanese wallpaper and lucky cat. Your friendly neighborhood sushi/Hibachi spot. When I say friendly, staff here greets and remembers faces. So far, we see a lot of returning customers greeted. It's happy hour here from 4p - 6p and is mostly sushi and drinks, so that would be another review altogether. We're here for hibachi! What ordered - trio Hibachi - Filet Mingon, lobster, and shrimp. - Aguachiles - trio RVN Yes, I did say aguachiles. Surprised me, too. In fact, there are several mexican/Japanese fusion items, including Tostadas, ceviches, and specialty rolls. Like Filipinos, Mexicans can do it all. Tangy!!! Very tangy. The aguachiles is, in fact, amazing. Whatever the magic is, spices, lime, whatever, it works! The sizzling plate? It's not too bad. I did ask for medium rare, and it came out cooked, lol. The meat is tender though, with good flavor. The lobster and shrimp? Really was good. Both have that charred flavor I was here for. Yes, I'm writing this as I eat. Elites multi task, right? This was quite a pleasure. All dishes were recommended by our server/host/busser, Elsa, (told you they do everything), and surprisingly, on point. We will be back for an update on the other half of their menu, the sushi. So stand by, or come and find out. Regulars are regular here for a reason. Monster and I are about to find out more why. GG LL Thank you Elsa!!

Yelp
Bomb.com coming from a teppanyakyi connoisseur. I've tried them all in this valley. Great taste with a generous amount of food. One too plate provided 4 servings

Yelp
It's okay, but I don't think it's a la carte worth, I think if would be better as all you can eat. Fish and menu level are not that good. But it's still just okay to satisfy your craving if you are around this area. There are better choices tho.

Judy Z.

Yelp
Good ok. But it is not real Japanese food. Their garlic noodle pretty good. Service ok. Pricing is strange.. I personally won't go back. But if you don't know Japanese food. Just go ahead. Don't treat that a sushi place I don't like the restaurant decor but that is personal preference.

Yelp
We had the Louis Louis roll the screaming onion delight, and then 911 roll!! Best sushi I've ever had

Yelp
Boyfriend and I were here last night for our date night. Food, service and ambience were on point. Hidden gem 5 minutes from home! This is a business that's completely family run from chefs to servers. They have dishes named after family members. Both Leo and Ozzy chatted with us, asking our names and introducing their family across the room. The Louie Louie Roll and Good AF Roll were our faves. Leo was our server and did a fantastic job of taking care of and welcoming us.

Marlyn M.

Yelp
Steak. And lobster was good about a 6-7. The side of garlic noodles also. Total food about a 6-7. Out of 10. Service quick and to the point restaurant clean and quiet. Too expensive for quality. We will come back to try the sushi next time.

Blanca S.

Yelp
Servicio excelente! Todos los platillos estaban riquísimos. We will be back again! Family friendly.

Yelp
Food is amazing time after time never disappoints!!!! From every roll carefully prepared and sashimi perfectly cut love this place.
google avatar

Hello Alove R.

Yelp
This place is so good! Don't let the location hold you back, these owners and family give it 100% when it comes to quality and atmosphere. I don't come as often as I should but when I do it's always so good. Had the garlic tuna rolls today and garlic noodles yummm try it out for sure! Thanks to the team at Louie Louie
google avatar

Yelp
I actually first learned about Louie Louie through the Yelp fundraiser at Discovery Children's Museum last year. I don't remember what roll they served there but I remembered it being good and it was at a time I was starting to like sushi again (I've been on a vegan sushi kick). However, my friend has been wanting sushi for so long and so I asked her did she want to try Louie Louie. We went during happy hour and while my friend enjoyed several of their options, I opted for just one roll which was the Kamikaze. It was DELICIOUS, I was nervous but went ahead and ordered and so happy I did. I am sure I will be back as it is so close to my home, love that for me! Our waitress and the staff were super sweet. Definitely a hidden gem.

Yelp
Small but very comfortable atmosphere with amazing service. Food was prompt and great portions! Will definitely return!

Yelp
Such an amazing family owned restaurant! The quality of the food is unbelievable and the staff is over the top about their knowledge of the menu. You really feel like you're at home when you're here. My favs - sexy Summerlin, louie louie, salmon tostada, GAF, and happy joy replace shrimp with Salmon! You can't go wrong with anything here.
google avatar

Tanya J.

Yelp
I went here with my granddaughter and it was great! I rarely try new restaurants and I'm the pickiest eater but I'd definitely go back to Louie's.

Lisa S.

Yelp
We've tried this place a couple of times previously and have to say was extremely disappointed in today's visit. They've gotten super skimpy with the fish they put on the rolls and it's all imitation filler crab even the avocado is the smallest sliver slice on every other piece salad tasted dirty dressing was watered down and they didn't even have fresh wasabi. $18 for a Poké ball that had very little tuna and no other ingredients other than onions and seaweed and the price said 16 on the menu super skimpy. The rules are decent size but again it's all with filler cheap stuff go to Sushi Fever or do yourself a favor. The place was completely empty at 5:30 on a Thursday now I see why you get what you pay for overpriced and way under quality this place is horrible.
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
First time here and my husband and I were not disappointed. Welcoming ambience, friendly staff and last but not least, Sushi was BOMB! We ordered a few items, 4-6 Happy Hour, selection was great. If you are looking to get your Sushi fix on, Louie Louie's will not disappoint.
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
This is the most confused 5 star review. When you first arrive you will notice both the chicken and sushi spot next to eachother are called Louie Louie. Wouldn't imagine that being a good thing. However....this fusion sushi spot is weirdly awesome. There are a lot of rolls that are far from traditional but this place makes it work. Would I go here expecting traditional sushi?..,,I would not. If your open to the wild side of fusion sushi give this place a go. Don't let the weird scare you. Go nuts and get weird. You will like it.
google avatar

Jaimie J.

Yelp
Sushi was excellent - echoing that it was some of the best I ever had. Their happy hour is very generous. Service was so-so from the waitress but the gentlemen working the sushi bar were very hospitable. Steak hibachi was not very good but the veggies and sauces were delicious. Will definitely be back for the sushi and wings.
google avatar

Yelp
Omg! I love this place. Feels like a hole in a wall type of place. SUPER happy my husband and I found it. It's Sushi Mex which was perfect for us because we were craving sushi and aguachile. Although we didn't get aguachile, we got sushi and hibachi. The sushi was thick and flavorful. They don't skimp out on it. We got the Alex and roca roja roll because of the ponzu sauce (for me) and spicy flavors (for husband ). We also got the shrimp and tofu hibachi and subbed the white rice for garlic noodles. The hibachi was seasoned with lime which was new to us but it was so delicious this way. Highly recommend. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't packed. Love how they have a bar even though the place is pretty small. The staff is super friendly too.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal. The service is to the T. Looked for a place around the area with Yelp and saw that there is not many places in this side of town with sushi. Hands down a great spot for the area. Didn't even order off the menu and asked the sushi chef to serve the rolls and WOW. GOOD locally owned spot.

Yelp
Louie Louie The Restaurant is a full service restaurant and bar. They offer very good original sushi rolls (get the Louie Louie rolls here) and they also offer tasty hibachi. We started out by sharing a salmon tostada. WOW! it was really GREAT! The salmon was so fresh and melted in my mouth and it had delicious flavors to it. But under the Louie Louie Specialty rolls wad the Ozzy Roll and THAT WAS REALLY AMAZING! Really FRESH salmon, tuna, avocado, two kinds of tobico, masago, and these tiny lemon wedges...and it sat in this delicious sauce........WOWIE POPS of flavors everywhere....Now this was really a great sushi roll! We also shared a combo hibachi of filet mignon and chicken. It comes out sizzling like a fajita. It comes with fluffy steamed rice and two sauces for dipping. It was good. We both thought that the filet came out better than the chicken but still it was reasonably good and also was a generous portion. Our server was amazing and was so helpful and cheerful. I would give 5 stars for sushi here and 4 stars for hibachi.

Maritza C.

Yelp
I tried this place last night and the food was amazing, I got a hibachi plate with chicken steak and shrimp. And my fiancé got the salmon with shrimp. Both of us did fried rice with it. Hands down some of the best food we have ever had

Yelp
So So good, close by and convenient! Spicy Edamame *10* Louie Louie Roll *10* Miso Soup *10* Lunch Special Roll and Nigiri *10* Soy Paper available! Service is really good and helpful! Okay, so maybe I've been more than 4 times and can't wait to go back! Thanks Tracey!

Yelp
The posted hours on the website are 10PM but on google it's 11PM. I arrived st 9:40 and they were already locked. I waa able to wave down an emoyee to come to the front door who alerted me that last call was 9:30. F**k thid place. It's not my job to somehow know when your hours of service vary from those posted online. AND if they somehow vary from what's on google or yelp the business should be on top of that. This is not a Japanese owned business and so I am already concerned with food quality and authenticity. But the single most basic tenet of running a business is honoring the posted business hours, so this is a major fail.

Yelp
Where have yall been all of my life?! OMG the food was delicious!! The food was fresh and hot. This is now my go-to sushi spot.
google avatar

Michealle A.

Yelp
Louis opened a chicken place right next door - Louis Louis Fried Chicken: Fingers, Wings, Fries. You HAVE to try it!!! The wings are crispy, the sauces are amazing (Thai Chili and Garlic Parmesan) homemade. Lemon pepper fries. Great food, great price, fun atmosphere. Louis delivers a great bit of food!

Yelp
I'm so happy my husband and I found this place! It's so so good! Everything we tried was delicious! The jalapeño appetizer I got was my favorite! The sushi rolls were PERFECTION! All the workers were so nice as well! We ate at the restaurant and we felt super comfortable with our kiddos. Definitely going back!

Yelp
Louie Louie sushi is definitely a hidden Gem in LV. My family usually tends to eat at AYCE establishments but this place caught our eye and we decided to give it a shot. So happy we did because it was a very pleasant experience! The restaurant is a family owned business and their Japanese Mexican fusion is super delicious on the tastebuds. The restaurant was neat and clean. Super spacious then what you'd think and they even have a bar! Our waiter, Ozzy, hands down has been one of our top five best servers we've ever met in our lifetime. He explained their menu to us, gave us suggestions on his favorite rolls/entrees and even pointed out some customer favorites without us even asking! When each roll came out, he gave us a story on how the sushi roll got its name. We definitely enjoyed the personal touch. We ordered their NY,Chicken&Shrimp hibachi, Bad A** Roll, Cabanas Mike Roll, JJ roll, and sexy summer roll. Everything we ate was utterly delicious it fed my family of four and even sharing each entree/roll filled us up. Hands down one of the best experiences of sushi spots we've ever had. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
10:10 hands down!! Leo was amazing . We had a party of 7 We got hibachi and sushi . Everything was great! No complaints . This place wasn't packed and to be honest idk why not . We'll be back. Great portions of food for the price . Lots of veggies with hibachi too. We enjoyed the food .

Marie P.

Yelp
A really great family run sushi place. I passed four other sushi places to go to this one after hearing such great things about it. The service was friendly and the vibes are laid back and comfortable. The rolls were very good and large. If you go during happy hour you'll get a great deal! I can't wait to go back again.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I am a self proclaimed sushi snob and this has become one of my favorite sushi restaurants in town. The sushi chef's are friendly and always prepare the best dishes. There is a great variety of different types of rolls to tempt your taste buds and keep you coming back. I highly recommend this restaurant!
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Quick friendly service, offering up a show-less hibachi and sushi. Had a few rolls of sushi and a combination hibachi (steak, chicken, Shrimp)....the trio was enough for 3-4 easily. The sushi was pretty solid! The restaurant itself is smaller, quiet and more of a fast casual feel Overall.
google avatar

Sergio P.

Yelp
I've had this place on my list to try since they started their food truck but never got to it. Now with the restaurant open had to stop by. The fried calamari was good but the Cabanas Mike roll was delicious. Definitely recommend trying that. We ordered the trio hibachi witch consisted of filet mignon, a lobster tail, shrimp on a bed of perfectly cooked veggies. We ordered a side of garlic noodles and fried rice. The fried rice food have used a little more loving. We ended up adding a sauce the gave us to give it a little more flavor. Would come back and try some more sushi rolls and other items on their menu
google avatar

Barry G.

Yelp
This was our first time here. Maria was our server and she went the extra mile to make sure our experience was amazing. Ultimate garlic tuna and T and A are worth trying. The Aria roll was so good, we were planning on coming back before we finished. We will be back.

Carmen D.

Yelp
Very nice and clean, well lit atmosphere. Staff were quick and kind. Food took just a few minutes and everything was so fresh! Definitely worth a visit. Only negative, prices a little higher than I had hoped for. Ranging from $10-18 per roll and didn't offer a combo roll option at a discount. Plan to spend about $80-100 for two people.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
We went for lunch on Friday with a party of 5 and it was a pleasant experience. We were seated right away (the only customers at the time) and the waitress took our drink orders. The large sake was pretty neat, it came in a small carafe that had ice in the center to keep it cold. We ordered Poke Nachos, Miso Soup, 911 Roll, UGT Roll, a large Sashimi Sampler, Dragon Roll, Cucumber Roll, and a Steak & Chicken Hibachi entree. All the rolls and sashimi were very fresh and tasty, the octopus sashimi was excellent. The hibachi entree was well prepared and a nice portion. The service started slow, but picked up during the meal. It did take a while to process the bill, not sure why. One issue was the temperature, it was very warm inside, possibly a problem with the air conditioner. Overall: Great place for sushi.

Yelp
I love this place! Especially the happy hour. Prices are so affordable even for a senior on a fixed budget. have to go at least once a month

Tawny P.

Yelp
Wow the sushi was so good!!! Highly recommend this place. Will be back for sure! Very friendly staff too

Yelp
This has to be the best sushi in Vegas!! Friendly staff and now they have happy hour everyday 4p-6p!!
google avatar

Yelp
This spot has some of the freshest fish in all of Vegas! Highly recommend--it's a 10/10. Be sure to get sushi rolls made by the owner--you won't regret it. The passion and craftsmanship come through in every bite. I've been here about 10 times in just three weeks, and it never disappoints!

Yelp
Our first visit to Louie Louie was tonight! And it won't be our last. We are late to the party... We enjoyed delicious sushi rolls and happy hour tonight! The service was friendly and outstanding! Thank you!!

Brigitte M.

Yelp
This was the best sushi ever!!! We just moved here and it was our first time here. We will for sure be back. Service was great also. We had the Louie Louie roll, the 911 roll and screaming onion delight!!! So so so good!!!

Yelp
I picked up my to-go lunch order from here today and I was pretty impressed. I got the hibachi chicken bowl with grilled veggies and fried rice. The portions were big for the price and the service was amazing. They made a minor mistake on the order and immediately fixed it with hospitality and kindness. I will definitely be back, especially for the yummy lunch specials.

Yelp
We were in the area and looking for some place to eat. The reviews got us in and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant was small but clean. We sat at the sushi bar which was a nice touch. We ordered 3 rolls. The favorite was a unique one called the Alex Roll. It had a bit of Mexican style flare to it. All the rolls were really good. Service was kinda a team effort from all the staff which made it very prompt. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend a stop. I was too hungry to snap photos of the food . But did get some of the outside and front entrance. They also do take out and have a few chairs to wait for your order.
