Mid week eats with Hungry Monster.
I decided to come out here to get over a Hibachi itch I've had since the day before. I'm glad we came out. Located in the old Albertsons plaza on Craig at Rancho, parking is not too shabby. Greeted as soon as we walked in, and sat right away. It's quiet and clean. Choices to sit We're sushi bar or booth or table. Of course, we chose booth. The interior decor is cute. There is plenty of Japanese wallpaper and lucky cat. Your friendly neighborhood sushi/Hibachi spot. When I say friendly, staff here greets and remembers faces. So far, we see a lot of returning customers greeted.
It's happy hour here from 4p - 6p and is mostly sushi and drinks, so that would be another review altogether. We're here for hibachi!
What ordered
- trio Hibachi - Filet Mingon, lobster, and shrimp.
- Aguachiles
- trio RVN
Yes, I did say aguachiles. Surprised me, too. In fact, there are several mexican/Japanese fusion items, including Tostadas, ceviches, and specialty rolls. Like Filipinos, Mexicans can do it all.
Tangy!!! Very tangy. The aguachiles is, in fact, amazing. Whatever the magic is, spices, lime, whatever, it works! The sizzling plate? It's not too bad. I did ask for medium rare, and it came out cooked, lol. The meat is tender though, with good flavor. The lobster and shrimp? Really was good. Both have that charred flavor I was here for. Yes, I'm writing this as I eat. Elites multi task, right? This was quite a pleasure.
All dishes were recommended by our server/host/busser, Elsa, (told you they do everything), and surprisingly, on point. We will be back for an update on the other half of their menu, the sushi. So stand by, or come and find out. Regulars are regular here for a reason. Monster and I are about to find out more why.

Thank you Elsa!!
