Terribly understaffed in the morning. I didn't even order because I waited in line forever and no one was being served because the one person at the counter was spending all their time restocking everything. Woul d have been happy to try the place but since no one was being served I just left instead of wasting my time. There were plenty of other people working there but nobody at the counter at 6:30 in the morning. Plenty of people in line.

As avid fans of MML restaurants, we were excited to try Louis Swiss Bakery while in Aspen. With some time before our flight, we dropped off our luggage and took a stroll over. First, I must commend the pastries this shop delivers to Swedish Hill; they are absolutely perfect. However, this review is focused solely on our lunch experience at Louis Swiss Bakery. I ordered the Turkey Salami sandwich, while my wife opted for a turkey sandwich. Unfortunately, both were quite bland and did not leave a good impression. It was disappointing, especially considering our high expectations. While I'm confident that Louis Swiss Bakery has some great offerings, our lunch didn't reflect that. I'm not sure if we'll return, and I definitely won’t be ordering another sandwich.

How do you say Togo in Swiss German? Goh baby goh!

Google
I just returned from Nice and have been on a mission to find a Pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) that is even a margin as fluffy as the bakeries there. The chocolate croissant from this spot delivered! I was impressed with the flaky layers — these are hard to achieve and many American bakeries don’t get it right. P.S. crumbs are part of the experience and signal a good croissant

I love coming here before I head up to ski Aspen or Snowmass. The quick grab burritos and bagels are delicious as well as their other pastries. If you need a quick bite before a long day of shredding the slopes, swing by this bakery!

Google
Aspen Ski Co. Chefs have really run this place down. The flavors are not there any more. The breakfast burritos used to be much better. Please evenly distribute the fillings and stop over cooking the eggs on a flat top.

Google
Classic boulangerie and pâtisserie shop. The best bakery in the Roaring Fork Valley (i.e., Glenwood Springs to Aspen). They are tucked away in a business district near the Aspen airport but it's well worth the visit as they have all the classics. They also have a limited selection of doughnuts - standard raised rounds and apple fritters. Custom order cakes. A good selection of rustic bread loafs. The pan an au chocolat I had was good but just a bit under proofed and baked. Take out only as the sales area and display cases sit in the front of what is a medium scale baking facility that does wholesale to many businesses throughout the valley.

Google
I LOVED the cinnamon roll I got this am. I only got 2 pastries and immediately regretted not buying more after the first bite. Flaky crispy perfection that is NOT easy to achieve at this altitude.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best empanadas I've had! Had the beef picadillo and the chicken green chile, and my gosh--so flavorful, soft, and delicious! They were unfortunately sold out of the potato leek, my friend took the last one before I got there, but he said it was also amazing! Coming back for it, soon! Plus the lady behind the register was super friendly and I had a great time chatting it up with her! And if she's somehow reading this -- "Que lo que, my friend!"

Ben B.

Yelp
No donuts and no seating. More like bakery with poor selection. Not a place for breakfast. Phots were misleading. We did not eat and left.

Amber C.

Yelp
The food and service were great! It's definitely pricey, but it's Aspen, so I guess it's to be expected. We had chorizo breakfast burrito, an almond croissant, and an apple Jesus - all were delicious.

Delfino G.

Yelp
Really good food. You get to see everything made. Generous portions and very tasty food! 5-stars

Yelp
Came here with two girlfriends for breakfast. I got the ham and cheese croissant which was good but way expensive for what it was (I know we're in Aspen but speaking as a Denverite still). One friend got a bagel and we weren't sure what was on top but it didn't look or taste like cream cheese. Other friend got a burrito and said it was good, corn was a nice touch. They both agreed the drip coffee wasn't good at all, I tried a sip and it tasted stale and burnt. Was recommended this place from a bartender at Marble Distillery so wish we had a better experience!

Kathleen B.

Yelp
Very overpriced. Asked if they had sandwiches ready to go (they usually do). The lady could not understand what I was asking. She asked if I wanted a hit or cold sandwich I said cold. I was handed a hot sandwich! Previous experiences there were dead flies in the pastry cabinet. Other experience the person dropped the pastry on the floor and still handed it to me.

Jason B.

Yelp
Unbelievably delicious potato, leek, and gruyère empanada; and apple Jesus (apple pastry). I didn't have coffee but they do have an espresso machine. So good there is really no way I will not stop in when passing by next time!

Anthony C.

Yelp
I came here for some yummy breakfast items. And I must say this bakery is just as awesome as their high Yelp rating shows. I split with my wife a chocolate cookie with sea salt, and a cinnamon roll. Both were wonderful. I also had the Pineapple orange juice and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed this place! And I highly recommend it!

Mikala M.

Yelp
This bakery is always slammed but sooo worth the wait. It's a MUST if you're in the Aspen area. It's off the beaten path in the Aspen Airport Business Center. The chicken pot pie and the Apple Jesus are my top choices here.

Anitra M.

Yelp
Eat local! Would have shared a photo but we ate everything- really freaking delicious. Breakfast burritos w potatoes & apple Jesus - yah-um!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Love all their baked goods. And their breakfast croissant sandwiches are delish. And the baguette sandwich so yummy. No decaf is a bummer but honestly...that's the only negative thing I have to say!

Pastor David H.

Yelp
Always the best pastries in Aspen. Great service and friendly. The options are amazing.

Chris J.

Yelp
$40 for a egg and cheese croissant, breakfast sandwich, and two small lattes. I think a little expensive in my opion. Bakery seemed to have very fresh and handmade goodies but my croissant was a little on the harder side than I am used to. Not a bad place for a quick bite but expect to spend at least $20 a person for a food item and drink.

Alex D.

Yelp
The staff were very rude and not helpful. After we bought food, we asked for a napkin on our way out, and the worker rudely said they are busy and ignored us.

Ann V.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast everything bagel sandwiches I have ever had. The employees were super friendly and helpful. You are able to see them making pastries. I loved this place. Walkable distance to/from the airport.

Ellen W.

Yelp
The new owners took an overpriced bakery and made it even more expensive. Nice work pricing out the locals for mediocre pastries.

Anna C.

Yelp
My favorite find in Aspen! Their breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches are AMAZING! The pastries are also dynamite, I love the almond horns! The coffee is good...it's all very, very good. The staff are so friendly and great morning people! Which I am not so it's always great to start my day off with an amazing breaky and a friendly smile. There is usually a line but it is well worth the wait.

Ryan W.

Yelp
Usually their food is pretty good. The problem arises when they never write down an order. I've had 20+ experiences over the last few years where they have butchered the order. The man who took my order got mad when I asked if they had Swiss. Only provolone he said. I've had Swiss cheese there almost every time. Today I asked for an everything bagel with cream cheese. It was poppy seed. No other place in the entirety of the roaring fork valley butchers orders like Louis Swiss. I heard they were just bought. Maybe the new owners will ensure the customers order is correct from now on.

Paul C.

Yelp
The food : mostly amazing : has gone downhill since new owners $50 for a dozen of donuts This place has now become some sort of exclusive breakfast club in the past 1-2 years Amazing for special occasions- but pricing out locals that use to come more often. This is not just my opinion but the communities. $15 for a breakfast burrito. For real? Thumbs down to whoeever is responsible for the pricing at this establishment. You are loosing customers ...

Paul F.

Yelp
Hand-made custom cakes, burritos and pies, maple donuts, and fresh bread. This place has been a favorite for years, new ownership seems to be making it even better. It's a neighborhood gem.

Amiel C.

Yelp
While it's Tuesday pupusas were not impressive, beef pie and key lime pie were. Beef pie was full of flavor and fulfilling. Key lime pie was without normal heavy crust, instead just graham cracker crumbles and delicious filling. I came to try its pupusa but really enjoyed the pies!

Carra F.

Yelp
This is a local hidden gem, I've tried the almond puff pastry that was really good. I've also tried the apple jesus- which was very big but had an off taste so I didn't care for it. The oatmeal brownie bar was good. The breakfast chorizo burrito was good and they were able to make a fresh one for me without eggs in it. I've heard great things about their cronuts sold only on thursdays and Saturday's as of summer of 2021 that I'm hoping to try one day.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Perfect egg, bacon and cheese croissant breakfast sandwiches! Excellent location, and great iced coffee!

Jenny S.

Yelp
The most amazing pastries and espresso tucked into an industrial-like park. Everything is incredible

Philippe K.

Yelp
On our recent trip to Aspen we happen on Louise Swiss bakery and it was awesome. I got a breakfast burrito, which was memorably excellent and my son got a chocolate croissant which was also awesome. It was the perfect place to go pre-adventure. I highly recommend it.

Ricky W.

Yelp
Louis Swiss is a wonderful local pastry shop. The decadent baked treats tango with the taste buds and the atmosphere accounts for the lack of oxygen at high altitude here in aspen. While I love grabbing a quick breakfast burrito and some pastries here I still think that their burritos could go from good to great. Don't get me wrong, they are delicious, but I think sometimes the eggs are slightly over cooked and the ratio of the other fillings is sometimes off (mostly too much cheese). I do love their hot sauce however. Their pastries are the perfect bad boy treat and go great with coffee. It's a great local shop and everyone is very friendly. I have had a few issues in the past with forgotten parts of my order, but overall super helpful staff. And totally Covid safe!

Amanda P.

Yelp
I love this place. Their burritos are awesome as well as the pastries. The last few times, however, the burritos were cold and the brother talked way too much. He talked without a mask over all of our food which included the $100 Yule log. Had we known it cost that much, we would not have purchased that. Please don't wear a chin diaper as you're serving our food and please especially don't talk incessantly.. especially without a mask on.

Yelp
This hidden gem is a must go for anyone who loves pastries - both savory and sweet. It is also open early, which is a bonus for those who are early risers and are looking for a filling meal. Just be prepared to pay for the quality! Food/pastries: Our party got a variety of sweet and savory items, and oh my goodness, the croissants and crusts were so flaky and buttery. I ate two beef hand pies, which impressively had about an inch of filling each. The chocolate croissant my partner had was filled with actual chocolate chunks in addition to the chocolate filling you find in most chocolate croissants. The croissant sandwiches were also delicious with either bacon or ham fillings. Our friends got a spinach and feta hand pie, and it smelled heavenly, and I could see the cheesy-ness of it as they ate it. Lastly, the coffee was very smooth without any bitter or acerbic taste. Ambiance: this is primarily a "to-go" place, at least in the morning. The entire building is clearly set up for lots of baking and good work, just not so much dining. The ordering area is small, but serviceable. Service: The service was okay. The lady at the counter answered all our questions, but did not really tell us what other items were available (e.g. we only saw the croissant sandwiches when someone brought out a tray after we ordered all the other items). This was really the only thing that brought my experience down. Pricing: Be ready to pay $3-4 for each item, if not a little more. It is well worth the price, imho. Tip: The signage does not help you navigate what is available, so being proactive and asking will likely help you get a sense of what they have to offer.

Yelp
It's amazing place , loved every morsel from it . Opens up early morning and if you go at that time it smells divine of fresh bread and cake in oven

Neil G.

Yelp
While this may not be known to all this place hidden in the airport business center rocks. Get a breakfast burrito here and veggie ones as well. Want butter cookies? They have em and wow are they good. Cinnamon rolls and the famous apple Jesus ! Cronuts too but they sell out fast. Really great bake shop!

Daniela P.

Yelp
An amazing place and a must do when anybody goes to Aspen. We had the most amazing and funny service, the guy that helped us was super nice and fun it made us want to come back for some more yummy pastries after. The sandwiches are great! Everything with Nutella in it is to die for!!!! Overall is an amazing place to go specially when you're craving something sweet.

Eileen C.

Yelp
So being a baker myself, I love checking out fellow bakers products whenever we travel. This was my first time dropping into Louis Swiss but I wish it hadn't been my last! The selection is pretty limited and I only picked up a few items. The Chicken Chipolte empanadas were amazing, packed with fresh chicken and a few veggies seasoned perfectly. The tender, flaky crust was outstanding. I was hoping to get. A couple of these for my flight home but they are closed on the weekend We also purchased a chocolate croissant which I saved for my son so I can't comment on it. Heading back to Jersey on a Sunday, my son will have to try out the acclaimed burrito that previous reviewers loved.

Juan P.

Yelp
Great little bakery, and breakfast place. Good espresso, and best of all they really know how to make croissants. Order one, you won't regret it.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Jesus Christ I can't get enough of this place! I'm not a pastry person by any means, but this place is nothing short of amazing. Light but filling.

Jack S.

Yelp
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Louis Swiss is the G.O.A.T bakery and that's not just in Aspen, or in Colorado, or in America, or the world, but the universe. Shout out Elliot

Gabbie S.

Yelp
Amazing service and amazing food! The worker was very knowledgeable on their products and was a spurt of energy to start to the morning! The outdoor seating was adorable and could definitely be a great instagramable moment.

Andy P.

Yelp
This place is legit. Great pastries and baked good...but i really like the regular food. The Chicken Pot Pies are awesome. Deep dish pizza ...best in town...and hamburger day is the greatest

Sandi H.

Yelp
Soooooo overpriced. $10 for a small baguette and chocolate croissant. They were good but...

Richard H.

Yelp
This place is flat out legit! The doughnuts and breakfast wraps are fantastic. Only problem with the breakfast burritos is that if you were to finish one you may not eat or move for 12 hours. The location is a little tricky to find but worth the time. You put this place in downtown Aspen and the line would be out the door! Nice work guys!

Keren F.

Yelp
Great place to grab a bite! I was surprised by the range of foods and the breakfast burrito was super good.

Karen T.

Yelp
Yummy food! Thanks for giving back to to community and donations to AHS senior classs. We donut we we do with out you! THANKS

Ahris K.

Yelp
Went there twice over my three day visit to Aspen.... and I love any local businesses that are tucked away in the corner yet awesome in what they offer. They're chocolate croissants are THE BOMB. Not as messy as regular croissants, perfectly chewy and with just enough chocolate inside. I took one with for the plane ride...writing about it is actually making my stomach growl!

M M.

Yelp
Who gets excited about pastries a grocery store could compete with. Worst cinnamon roll I've ever had!, dry, flavorless, and overpriced. Aspen needs a proper bakery.

Katy C.

Yelp
Don't trust yelp people! This place has heat and serve pastries you can find anywhere. It's in an Industrial area with no charm. The barista did not know what a macchiato was. Keep driving to Aspen.

K C.

Yelp
The apple turnover and donuts were amazing! Light, flaky, buttery turnover with loads of flavor. I don't like donuts but I tried the one my kids had a chocolate covered donut that was To Die For!

Eva H.

Yelp
The croissants and sandwiches here are excellent; I felt like I stepped right back into France when I walked in (including the service). Prices are pretty steep for pastries, but they're worth it as a special treat.

Daniel L.

Yelp
They have amazing breakfast burrito with omelette wrapped inside the burrito. If you add green salsa, then it is going to be the best breakfast burrito you had in your life period.

Yvonne C.

Yelp
Everything we had was amazing! Everyone was so nice and helpful. Service was super upbeat and positive just loved the energy of this wonderful shop. 10/10 would recommend!

Kim M.

Yelp
They serve local, organic Red Butte Roasters espresso!!! YES. And of course love the pastries.
