Cajun Restaurant Signs for Seaport Village - Eater San Diego

"Louisiana Charlie’s, a restaurant specializing in New Orleans staples such as crawfish etouffee, gumbo, po’ boys, and red beans and rice, is coming to Seaport Village where it’s replacing dessert shop Frost Me in the Carousel District. The 700-square-foot eatery, which includes a 500-square-foot patio, should be open by April 2021." - Candice Woo

We were in Seaport Village and saw that the restaurant had finally opened. I saw someone eating greens and I said they have greens! The lady said yes and they’re good too!. I sent my Hubby to find a place to sit while I queued up to order. You order and pay at the counter and take your number to your table. The food came out fairly quickly. Fried Shrimp, fries, hot links, Mac n cheese, collard greens, water and a strawberry Fanta. The portions are generous and served in what can become your to go containers.

Louisiana Charlie’s at Seaport Village is a great spot for a quick bite with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. I ordered the Cajun Fries and a Mango Nada with Rum, both of which hit the spot. The fries came fresh out of the fryer, dusted with a generous amount of Cajun seasoning, crispy and spicy on the outside, yet soft inside. The Mango Nada had the perfect balance of sweetness and rum, making it a refreshing afternoon drink. The tamarind candy straw was a fun and flavorful touch. Seating is a bit limited at the restaurant itself, but you can grab a spot at the nearby common seating area under the trees or take your food to the pier, which is what I did. Enjoying my food with a waterfront view made the experience even better. If you’re in Seaport Village and craving some bold flavors, this spot is worth a visit!

Google
It's a touristy area so it definitely comes with tourist prices, but the portions are generous so you don't need to order too much. The food was all great, though I probably wouldn't get the poboy again and opt for one of the other non-bread dishes instead. The daiquiri was really good! There's a good amount of seating outside.

Google
Amazing seafood boil at Louisiana Charlie’s! We ordered the snow crab and shrimp boil with baked beans, Mac and cheese, corn bread, and collard green sides. The service is very friendly and helpful! You order at the cashier and they give you a number and come out with the food pretty quickly. Dog friendly patio. Nice to walk around seaport village after. Recommend!

Google
It's a good spot if your craving that Cajun spice. I had gumbo, cajun corn and cornbread. Both were good to satisfy the soul food mood. Cornbread was small and not worth the price. Also had the beignets..very tasty. Busy small spot with one register, so expect a wait.

Google
Cool place in Seaport serving Cajun food. Order at the window and they’ll bring out your food. Jambalaya fries and shrimp poboys were a hit. Alligator was a miss. Still worth a visit.

Google
If you can get past some of the spiciness in the food, you won't be disappointed. Big portions for your money, nice ambiance, friendly and helpful staff and most if all GREAT FOOD! Can be a little bit pricey for some, but its worth it and besides what isn't pricey theses days!

Lakeshia G.

Google
This place is bomb! It saves us after we tried another pace and was disappointed. Southern style food is the best (I’m a southerner). NOLA does it the best but they were tasty too. We shared a catfish plate with Mac and cheese, side of cornbread, and ordered the beignets. This place is located in Seaport Village.

Yelp
I was a little skeptical about trying this place out because I'm EXTRA picky about my Cajun food. But yall this spot is no joke. The jambalaya and shrimp poboy were amazing and portions were beyond expectations. The food came out at a fairly reasonable time and everything was PIPING hot. Service was friendly as well. I will say the patio seating out front can be a little toasty since that's where the smoker is. But there's tons of seating elsewhere.

Yelp
So glad comfort soul food is at Seaport Village. I order the catfish basket. You get three filets and a side for $22. It was way more than I thought. Their garlic sauce was so good with the fish. Brought me back to the days when I lived in the DC area. It was perfect. Staff was friendly. They're a cashless business. Worth your $! Will be back

Yelp
Worth the visit if you're in the area. Roughly 20 minute walk from the courthouse. Very welcoming staff. Seating is outdoor patio area, so scenery is based upon weather. Shrimp PoBoy had 7 of the largest fried shrimp I had ever seen. If the price of sides looks intimidating, the cajun fries came in the same sized container as the poboy. Fries were well seasoned, no ketchup needed. Gonna need to visit again for some other menu items. Side note: this is located near the water. I followed the map on Yelp, so the pin drop on page was accurate.

Yelp
Was visiting and asked the family to go here since I saw it on IG. We ordered A LOT of food, we had gumbo, jambalaya, beef brisket sandwich, red beans and rice, lemon pepper wings, shrimp boil, fried catfish, Mac n cheese, greens and cornbread. We did enjoy most of the food. I prefer baked Mac n cheese but my niece loved it. The brisket was PHENOMENAL! Juicy and tender. The gumbo and jambalaya was tasty and filling. The red beans and rice was delicious! Loved the catfish, greens and cornbread. We decided after all this food to get dessert. Welp, we should have just stayed full! No bueno on the banana pudding (no bananas in it) and the pecan pie was too sweet. Now the beignets were a HIT! Super fresh and we enjoyed them! I would ONLY offer the beignets as a dessert option :) It's a great spot and it's nice it's outside and the have seating on both sides. Looking forward to returning!

Yelp
Good experience for quick grub. Came here one night for quick grub as we were staying at a hotel nearby and this was the only eatable place in seaport village. The staff was super nice and helpful and gave us recommendations. We ordered a gumbo and another dish with fries. Food was delicious, love the flavor and there was a lot of shrimps and sausages, the ingredients were on point. Good portion size, we had left overs. Easy no frills place. Tasty food.

Yelp
I have been to Louisiana Charlie's multiple times and every time I am in Seaport Village I think about stopping there. The service is always great and the food is always tasty. This time around we actually sat and ate but usually I get it to go. I didn't take long for a table that was big enough for our party to open up. Yet, keep in mind, there is limited seating in front of the restaurant. You can sit at tables nearby if you would like. It can get busy so consider taking it to go if it isn't an inconvenience. We all order some of the same things so I only included some of the pictures I took. I had the ribs with greens and cornbread. I did end up salting my greens a little bit more but besides that, they were . Cornbread was on point and the ribs were so good. My family got the shrimp and the poboy. They said both were really good. I ordered the beignets and they were also really good. They also have a selection of drinks to choose from. Like I said above, Louisiana Charlie's is always included in my options when I go to Seaport Village. My cousin has ordered them to be delivered before so I think I might give that a try one day.

Yelp
Sitting outside in their patio dining area you can almost imagine being in New Orleans. Their menu includes gumbos, poboys, daiquiris, and ice cream sandwiches. The staff was friendly and the food was very flavorful. I got the fried catfish poboy and it was delicious. The catfish had a nice cornmeal coating, and the sandwich was a little spicy with pickles and lettuce and tomatoes. Everyone enjoyed their food and relaxing Cajun vibe.

Yelp
I visited Louisiana Charlie's back in February and it was AMAZING. Everything we ordered was delicious!! This is a small restaurant with very limited seating. We luckily found a table available outside and made our way to the register to order. The food was ready pretty quickly and we had a nice time enjoying our meal outdoors.

Yelp
This place is amaaazinggggg What we ordered: 1.) A basket combo which includes fried catfish and fried jumbo large shrimp with friessss. I usually don't like car fish but this was seasoned sooo good I can't wait to come back for more 2.) jambalaya - 10/10, it was hot and fresh! Everything about it was good. 3.) the beignets, omgggg these were soooo goood. Super fresh and hot too! 4.) the pies, we got the pecan one and a regular one and it was delicious The service was fast and the food was fresh! I do wish there was more seating because it was a little area for you to dine and eat Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Ordered to go from Louisiana Charlie's and went and sat along the water in seaport village. The shrimp poboy was phenomenal. The pieces of shrimp were big and fried to perfection with a good breading mixture. The sandwich was really big with fresh toppings and good sauce. We also had an order of the chicken tenders which were seasoned really well.

Yelp
I talked to the owner while he was finishing bbq some meats. I had to ask as I had my dog with me. He is very friendly and welcoming! Such a great attitude and energy, so we know we have to try his food. So you pay for your food and they bring the food to you. It was a bit crowded on a Monday night, but there is seating on the front and back of the restaurant. The place is really chill with a beautiful view. We tried the gumbo fries, and that was delicious!! The shrimp is big with a healthy size of kielbasa. We also tried the greens, which I love. Omg!! It's delicious. The sandwich is also great with a healthy portion of meat. My doggo approved. Last, we tried the banana pudding, and that is delicious. FYI, it'd $9 for the pudding, and it's a good sharing dessert. All in all, we are happy with the food and service. Would definitely be back again. Great view, food, and friendly service!

Yelp
Brisket sandwich ok. It was slightly overdone. The jambalaya was good. Service was great! I'd probably look around for another Cajun restaurant. I'm spoiled by New Orleans.

Yelp
This was definitely a surprise! Getting pretty good Cajun food in Southern California was not on my bingo card but I was pleasantly surprised. Simple ambiance down in Seaport village, lots of foot traffic and outdoor seating. Walk up ordering. Went with family so we got a little bit of everything. The Food is GOOD! If you're looking for Cajun flavors while visiting Cali definitely go here!

Yelp
I'm very shocked that this place exists here in San Diego! The food was so amazing that everything else does not matter.

Yelp
My cousin was in town visiting and we decided to hit SeaPort Village. We got hungry and grabbed some food. The BBQ sandwich was messy, but sooooooo good. The launch was amazing and the bun was so soft. The fries were a perfect compliment to the sandwich and the beignets were the only desert they made sense. This was my first beignet and I must say I am hooked. A great time in a great location. Highly recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
food was bussin everything came hot and fresh and the service was good too. We got the beignets, brisket sandwich, and cajun fries. The beignets were so fluffyyyy
google avatar

Joslyn N.

Yelp
Gumbo was watery with lack of true gumbo flavor. No thanks. The beignets are pretty good. The restaurant is outside so keep that in mind.

Yelp
Busy, walk up restaurant with a southern menu located in Seaport Village. I was going back and forth between the jambalaya and the catfish, but I ended up going with the fish so I could also try the macaroni and cheese. Both were pretty good. Service was excellent, staff were helpful, and our food came out really fast.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything you can expect out a walk-up eatery.. great food, friendly vibe, quick and casual place to eat. If staying at one of the hotels nearby, it's a perfect option for vacationers. If driving, parking may be a challenge. We had the fried fish, red beans and rice, potato salad, fried shrimp, and banana pudding. We enjoyed every bit of it. I appreciated a few authentic touches like LOuisiana hot sauce, cocktail sauce, and creamy red beans (not firm whole beans). Overall, we will surely visit again when in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food!! I looked at my husband after our meal and said it was one of the best we'd had in awhile, and it's spot on with mimicking food you'd find in New Orleans. I know -- I've been. We tried the jambalaya per the staff recommendation and the shrimp po'boy. Both were excellent. Everything was seasoned perfectly with tons of flavors and textures. Just some logistical notes: you order at a counter and the line can get long, but it moves pretty quickly. Food is out quickly, also. There are no highchairs. You can sit in the Seaport Village courtyard area and they will bring you your food. Alcohol is allowed in the courtyard area.

Yelp
Exploring the city and honestly I was looking through so many restaurants near by on yelp and we decided to give this restaurant a try Just by the pictures we seen on yelp Food was delicious and very flavorful don't expect your food to be ready real quickso we received our food fresh and hot.... Seating wasn't all that great but you have options to sit outside the restaurant and I believe next to the restaurant under trees 2 meals 2 drinks and 2 sides about 60 bucks

Yelp
Louisiana Charlie's is the most authentic creole food my family has eaten since our recent trip to New Orleans. We happily stumbled upon this restaurant while strolling through Seaport Village--San Diego. We were warmly greeted, handed a menu and sat outdoors. The patio had comfortable chairs, pretty signage displayed and excellent jazzy-blues music. We ordered the Shrimp Poboy, Creole Jambalaya, and cornbread. Our meal was superb. Some of the best shrimp, rice, veggies, sauces and spices seasoned to perfection! For dessert we inhaled three beignets drenched in powdered sugar. Talk about a treat! One of the staff let us know that the family has a second location in Long Beach and this location has been serving San Diego for a couple years now. The recipes have been passed down multiple generations in the same family. All I know is that the food was outstanding and memorable. I will surely share this good news with friends and family. If you haven't tried creole food from Louisiana Charlie's then you're missing out. Big time!

Yelp
The food looks absolutely Delicious! And the serving sizes are very generous. We Stopped by for the fresh Beignets. Also ordered a Strawberry ice cream macaroon and banana pudding. The first Beignet was INCREDIBLE. It was hot and fresh and full of yummy powered sugar. There are three in a order. I just sat down at home to eat another beignet and unfortunately pulled a long, dark hair out of it. It was long and baked underneath the powdered sugar. I ask that you please, please, PLEASE wear the proper hair nets or covers so this doesn't happen in the future. It really ruined the whole experience for me.

Yelp
The food itself is 4.75 stars, I will say. On a drizzly Saturday afternoon when I went, it was not crazy busy. It took 20 minutes to get my food. I ordered the fried catfish basket with a side of Cajun fries, a side of mac & cheese, and a side of collard greens. I also had to get beignets, because they're delicious when made right, and you can't get those often. When they gave me my bag, I double checked to see if everything was there. Fries were forgotten. I tried flagging down one of the servers, and she was fairly busy. After she had brought 3 other orders out, she finally came back to me and asked if I had checked the other boxes, if they were underneath, if they were in the box with the catfish (as they usually are), and I kept insisting that they weren't. She flagged down another lady, who came to check again, and finally, that lady said, 'They should be in the box with the catfish... {checked my box} Oh! They must have forgotten!`She scurried away and returned about 3 min later with the fries in the fish box. Tried the catfish first, and I was blown away! It was cooked to perfection, the breading was crispy and well-seasoned. I think it's the best I've ever had. I was ordering fries for my 3yo son, and had asked the server if the Cajun fries were going to be too spicy, and he assured me, 'Not really, he should be able to eat them'. Well, my son at first bite said they were too spicy. So, that was a fail. They have a slight kick, but I wouldn't think they were too spicy for the average adult. The Mac & Cheese was good, sour cream and cheese pull were present, good consistency. The collard greens were also good. Well-seasoned and good texture. The husband agreed when I brought him remnants of everything. And he's pretty picky about his soul food. Also, all the food came out hot, which I really appreciate. Beignets--they were the size of donuts! Huge. Good when they're nice and hot, but, the whole box is powdered sugar. You probably can't eat them in the car w/o making a mess, bc even when I opened the box at home, there was powdered sugar everywhere! I actually prefer them a little smaller, for a better bite. These were on the thicker side. Would definitely go back again!

Yelp
The Beignets and Gumbo fries are a must!! The beignets taste just like Nola, covered in a ton of powdered sugar and so light & fluffy!! You can't help but to be addicted to these beignets that come out fresh and piping hot!! Pure deliciousness!!! I took some with me to go and shared them with my flight attendant coworkers on our flight back to Boston, we heated them up on the plane and they kept asking me where did I find these beignets in SD, lol! I ate here twice two weeks in a row as I travel to San Diego often for work., The first time I tried the gumbo fries which were amazing, they were more than enough and you will have enough to share. These yummy fries were topped with shrimp, sausage and chicken drowned in a tasty gumbo!! The second time I went I tried the jambalaya and it was also very tasty! I will continue to go to this gem to get a taste of NOLA in SD! The service is pretty quick you go up and order and seat yourself, so very casual outdoor dining.

Yelp
Walked past here many times and finally gave it a chance! The sandwich is so soft and juicy! The flavors are really good but the sandwich is pretty pricey for what it is! The jambalaya is also amazing! Super hot, spiced well, and I'd pay the price for it every time! Small space but plenty of seating around Seaport Village!

Sandra L.

Yelp
Ermaguad I don't even know where to start! I was blown away by the creole jambalaya, fried catfish, red beans and rice, French fries and daiquiris! Everything was amazing I almost wanted to cry at the beautiful experience of flavors I was experiencing! Remember that throw back video of that one man witnessing a double rainbow? That's how I felt but flavor wise... The cashier and servers make this little spot run efficiently! The food is brought out quickly, HOT out the kitchen!

Yelp
I was walking around and the smell and warmth of the smoke from the grilling briskets got my attention. I wish I knew about this place sooner because I ate right before. But I still had room for dessert and got their freshly made hot beignets. THEY WERE AMAZING. I ate them all within a few minutes and I regret nothing. My mouth is watering just thinking about these beignets. My only complaint is that I wish there were more. It was about $10 for 4ish pieces (two smaller pieces). But they were so good that I will gladly pay for them again. I will dreaming about these beignets. I will be back and I will make sure to eat their smoky brisket and seafood with them- I could not stop staring at other customers' foods and wished that I was physically able to eat more food so I can taste everything

Yelp
This was the perfect conclusion to an afternoon Harbor side with my Husbae. The King and I love to try NEW things and this just blessed my soul y'all. Ok all of the seating is outside with a beautiful view of the San Diego Harbor. Even with all of the pigeons and crazy looking animals the seating has you covered literally with nice patio umbrellas to shield from beaming sun rays, hungry pigeons etc. We ordered our food and they were so nice and patient with us as we sifted back n forth through the menu because we literally wanted one bite of everything but needed to decide on ONE thing to try. Sweet host led us to the outside seating afterward. We ordered the gumbo fries. Yeah I know what you're think and so was I but my honey talked me into it. I'm so glad he did. Twice fried French fries topped with cheesy goodness. Then they pile on a beautiful helping of gumbo to smother those fries and keep that cheesy gooeyness going through the whole meal. Ouuuu weee we hurt ourselves you hear me. The sausage had just a touch of spice. The reaux was spot on with nice sized shrimp sprinkled throughout. Of course the trinity was present!!! Ok this is your official word to run and get these fries!

Yelp
I went to Louisiana Charlie's the first time about six months ago and got myself some gumbo. About 8 people asked, "Where did you get that??" Not only did it look good but it tasted amazing. I had family in town recently and took them there and got the beignets for the first time and I was in heaven. The beignets are as soft, crispy, tasty, and warm as the sun at the start of spring. The food is five stars. The staff is super nice and the wait is never long. Pro tip: don't bring outside food to the patio because they'll ask you to step out. It can be tough to find a seat when it's busy but they have seating in both sides of the restaurant. I hope they never leave!

Yelp
Nice restaurant at Seaport Village. You have a great outdoor dining experience to people watch but there is no water view. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. Food arrived very hot. The shrimp poboy was delicious but I had to wait at least 15 mins to eat bc the shrimp was extremely hot. I ate my fries first. There were about 8-9 pieces of shrimp on the sandwich which is a good amount. I truly appreciate that. I hate sandwiches that are mainly bread and lettuce. My husband had the pulled pork. It wasn't anything special. The sauce was very basic. I don't think it was a homemade but if so then it's missing something. I want to go back and try the gumbo. I would definitely get the shrimp poboy again.

Yelp
On 7/17/2024 @ 6:04pm Louisiana Charlie's, I ordered a carry out of Red Beans & Rice $19.00. Got home with my taste buds all tone for my Red Beans & Rice an I had Pinto Beans. Being from Louisiana an going back each year having Red Beans & Rice I DO know the Different.!!!! I want my back.

Yelp
Hmm I guess the best way for me to put it is that the food kinda reminds me of above-average amusement park food; okay food overall but a bit overpriced for what it is. --------------- Oyster basket w/ cajun fries: oysters were pretty chunky and crispy but the fries were a letdown as the cajun seasoning taste on them was very subtle. Pulled pork sandwich: meat was a little on the dry side but still flavorful. Potato salad: amazingly creamy and tangy. Delicious. Coleslaw: watery and bland. Even KFC has better coleslaw. Beignets: not the fluffiest beignets that I've had. Soaked up too much oil but in this way they kinda weirdly made me think that I was eating youtiao (Chinese donut sticks) lol. Banana pudding: favorite thing that I tried here. Silky smooth banana-flavored custard. No skimping on the banana slices, which were perfectly ripe and not overly mushy at all. --------------- Ultimately if you just so happen to be at Seaport Village specifically craving for food that this place offers then I'd say that this place is worth a try. Otherwise, I'd say consider other food options in the area.

Yelp
My husband is always on the hunt for decent Cajun food in San Diego, though this spot took him by surprise. We were walking the pup in Seaport and saw the signs for Louisiana Charlie's before we saw the building. I knew without even having to ask that he'd want to stop here for lunch. The setup is kind of tight. You place your order at the counter, pay, grab your number and find a spot to dine. Our first time here we posted up at the counter along the wall, our second time we were able to get a table. It's all outdoor seating, and if the main dining area is full, they do have a couple of tables around the back as well. They have a giant menu posted on the pillar at the front, and typically at least one employee on hand to answer any questions or make recommendations. On our first visit, the young lady standing outside was honest in that their gumbo and jambalaya dishes are a bit saucier than the dishes you might find in New Orleans. But she did say that the flavors were good and the sizes generous. She wasn't kidding, about any of those points. On our first visit, I got the Creole Jambalaya ($24) and my husband ordered the red beans and rice ($19). We also got two pieces of corn bread ($1.50 each) to sop up the soup. On our second visit, I ordered the fried shrimp po'boy ($19) and my husband got the gumbo. We also split an order of the Cajun fries ($4.50) Flavor-wise, the food hit the spot. I don't think anything was quite spicy enough for my husband, but he tends to like the things that light your mouth on fire. Still, the sausage was meaty and flavorful, the shrimp was big and juicy (especially in the po'boy - those things were almost mutants, they were so big) and the corn bread was buttery and crumbly. Yes, the gumbo and the red beans and rice were a bit more runny than we would have liked, but they cooked the roux to a dark, burnt caramel color that imparted all the right flavors into the dishes. It's not exactly cheap - let's be real, nothing is these days - but they load you up and offer to-go options. They also validate your parking, so don't forget to get your ticket stamped before heading out.

Yelp
I took my mom here for lunch, my wife is next so you hold on lil missy. I got the fried oyster po boy my mom got the shrimp and then I ordered two sides Mac and cheese and greens. They had some daiquiris so I got a mixed one, the wait wasn't long about 10-15 minutes and they wait staff was fantastic the whole establishment had great customer service. They take debit and credit no cash right now I don't know if that might change. They had some desserts but we was going to be ripping and running so I wanted to give the best review of a fresh item. So back to the food it was seasoned to perfection and I just put that Louisiana hot sauce on it,boy oh boy don't play with it. The daiquiri was fire and adult slurpy not crazy strong but delicious nonetheless, I grabbed some to go for my sweetie the blackened shrimp po boy and the Cajun corn let's just say they can't miss and that bread is crazy soft and crunchy man great food great experience.

Yelp
While hanging out at Seaport Village, a friend wanted to stop by and try their beignets which came out very came out quickly after ordering. You could definitely tell that they were fresh by how warm and soft they were. The beignets were very good and were very fluffy and airy. It's a nice snack to have after strolling around the different shops in Seaport Village or just craving something sweet. Unfortunately, I did not get to try any of their other menu items since we had other dinner plans, but I wouldn't mind stopping by to grab a bite to eat when I'm in the area again!

Yelp
Food was good and hot. The gumbo was delicious and the fried shrimps and French fries were great.

Yelp
Food was seasoned very well. Great customer service and most importantly delicious drinks. My Aunt and myself enjoyed our lunch date with a nice view of the water. We will definitely revisit the next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Holy moly! So delicious! Depth of flavor. Can't wait to go back! Walking by, saw a beautiful dish and asked the ladies if it was jambalaya. They said no. Gumbo. I thought I knew the difference, but I wanted what they had. I ordered the gumbo, corn bread, and beignets to go. (Since they don't serve alcoholic beverages and I had a cold beer waiting for me at the hotel. They have a liquor application posted outside the business, so maybe beer in the near future.) Arrived at hotel room and definitely had gumbo...those ladies had jambalaya!!!! Rrrrr! But the gumbo, with a side of rice, was incredible!!!!! I would pay $1000 for a cup of the broth! The shrimp were perfect. I can live without sausage and chicken, but they were pretty good for sausage and chicken (shredded). The beignets were more dense than I'd had before, but maybe it was the to go box. Lots of powdered sugar and very delicious. I'd order them again. (But maybe just one...for one person. They are big. 3 were too many for one 'lady'. I'll be back for the jambalaya before I depart. The staff was friendly & helpful.

Yelp
Small restaurant in Seaport Village. Outside seating about 5-6 tables but they have bar seating. The food is fire! The catfish was fried to perfection..greens and Mac & cheese were great. Had the beignets... yum yum!

Yelp
The food was absolute perfection from the smoked brisket having that mouthwatering taste all the way to the Creole jambalaya that was jampacked with flavor. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service is very quick and you'll have your food in no time. If the wonderful customer service will not have you coming back the aroma alone will. With various food items, and so many different things to try, this is a great outing for the family or if you have friends or family from visiting out of town.

Yelp
Can't pay this much for salty gumbo. Made it difficult to finish without drinking all my water. I'm sure there are better things on the menu, but at this price it's hard to shop around, everything should be good.

Yelp
The food looked amazing and I love Cajun/Creole cuisine so I was excited to try this place in Seaport Village. The oyster basket with Cajun fries was excellent and easily my favorite - the oysters are large and plump and perfectly fried. The jambalaya and gumbo however were over-salted on this occasion, and the jambalaya relied too heavily on old bay spice seasoning so the flavor profile lacked nuance, but both had a generous amount of chicken, sausage and shrimp. I wanted to tried the beignets but we were too stuffed! It was busy but service was quick and friendly - you order at the counter, take a number, and someone will bring your food to you. We sat on the back patio to enjoy a partial view of the bay and the nice breeze. 3.5 but bumping it up to 4 as although my experience fell short of expectations (I've rarely encountered top-notch Cajun-Creole food outside of Louisiana), this place has potential to be outstanding with some minor tweaks.

Yelp
Good service. View is great. Staff asked us if we have any questions while we wait in line to order our food. Everything is delicious. My only complain is that everything is a bit too salty, and I usually eat on the salty side.

Yelp
We were just walking Seaport Village and came across this spot. Looks fairly new and the staff is a big reflection of that, they are not knowledgeable and rude. Their go to answer is NO. Hubby and I love food that reminds us of New Orleans, so when I saw the menu I needed more information. It smelled delicious and the options looked good. I could see 5 employees. One was busy talking to a couple outside and was fully engaged, he also looked in charge. The other 4 were inside, not busy, just talking and not in a hurry to help me at all. Finally, the cashier turned around and asked what I would like. I asked her if they do catering, without missing a beat she says NO. I said, so if I wanted to buy a tray of food, you wouldn't sell it to me? This confused her, and she went to the back to confer. There was much debate, and then she came out and said, Yes, we do that. I noted, that I would have to speak to the person in charge if I decided to place a party order. But now I wanted to try something to see if they were worth pursuing, we had just had a huge lunch, so I chose Beignets, they are also one of the hardest things to do right. I asked if they are made fresh to order and I got a YES. I placed an order for 2 orders for there, figuring I would have the rest of my party join us on the empty patio. I sat down with my number and my receipt. One by one, my guests arrived, but my husband came with an ice cream and was asked to remove himself from the premises. I said, he's with me and we are waiting for an order, she just kept repeating herself, outside ice cream NOT allowed on the patio. We went back and forth, and I said, fine then make my order to go, and we all left the patio and waited off premises for our beignets. Her attitude was over the top and rude. We took our beignets and went 5 feet away to neutral ground. I really really wanted the beignets to be horrible, so I could absolutely turn my back on this place. But wouldn't you know it, they are absolutely divine. Best I have had outside of New Orleans. I will have to give them a second chance, maybe management will better train their employees, so that they have customer service. After we left, two employees were standing outside with the menus, trying to get customers to come try them out. It NEVER occurred to them, that if 5 people were sitting on their patio enjoying their beignets, that they would bring in people faster than anything else.

Yelp
FOOD - Jambalya: cajun rice with shrimp, sausages, chicken, and peppers, topped with green onions. The flavor was good. The dish was spicier than I thought it would be but tolerable. For the price, the portion was small. 4/5 - Chicken Tenders: the tenders were huge! They were nicely fried but lacked the cajun flavor I was expecting . It came with fries which were ehhh. 3.5/5 SERVICE: The young lady was polite. Service was a little slow but they were pretty packed so it was understandable. 4/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would come back. The food was good but the price was a little high.

Yelp
Fair warning: Expect a wait! But.... the wait is worth it! Cooked fresh, sometimes it's too hot to hold! lol Love everything we've tried so far and can't wait to come back to try other items. The jambalaya is amazing! Full for flavor and they don't skimp out on the fixings!

Yelp
After seeing a friend post a picture of their fried catfish, I knew I had to check this place out. The prices are a bit high for my liking...but considering this is a tourist place...I guess. The basket comes with 3 catfish strips and your choice of a side, I picked the Cajun fries, but probably would opted for something else next time as was way too heavy. Now...that catfish!!! Wow.... Cooked perfectly, crunchy, flavorful and delicious. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Flights to New Orleans are expensive. If you're craving a Cajun Creole spread, come satisfy that craving at Louisiana Charlie's. This is the best and I mean the best Cajun food in San Diego. A great addition to our seaport village. I've been here about 5 times now and I crave this weekly. If there's one important thing you need to understand from my review, it's that they're serving Disneyland quality beignets, hot and fresh. I have burned the roof of my mouth every time I eat these and I'll do it again next time. The food is exceptional. I've tried the shrimp po boy which has been the best I've ever had. The bread they're using is fluffy and airy enough to make sure you really taste the shrimp. The batter they use for anything they fry is seasoned to perfection. Paprika, Cajun seasoning, maybe even some hints of lemon pepper? I don't know. I just know it's amazing! The jambalaya is a must try as well. The sausage and the shrimp with the flavorful rice is an unforgettable experience. Something that really stuck out to me is that everything is fresh, piping hot and cooked perfectly. No overcooked shrimp here. The employees are always providing hospitality to everyone. Very respectful and accommodating. They've even memorized that I like a lot of lemon wedges with my order. A little taste of New Orleans in San Diego. This is a food experience everyone should try! Be back in a couple weeks.
