Los Angeles Could Start Forcing Businesses to Accept Cash Again - Eater LA

"The Marlou folks (specifically chefs Marcos Spaziani of Below Deck and Louis Huh) are back, following a split with a business partner in Downtown. Now the pair is on track to open a new project upstairs at Nerano under the name Lou'Mar, with the first night of service at the reservation-only restaurant coming in about a month." - Farley Elliott

A Venezuelan/Korean fusion restaurant located above the popular Italian restaurant Nerano in a quieter part of Beverly Hills. It was our first time dining in this past weekend and we had a wonderful experience. It’s located above Nerano and the restaurant itself is quite small even though it does have a large bar. It’s the sort of place that would be great for a date or dinner with friends. It’s dark on the inside, but in a moody, classy way. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot, but we were able to find metered street parking directly in front of the restaurant for a 7PM Saturday dinner. Our server was fantastic and was very attentive our whole meal. I also felt pricing was fair, which is very different from a lot of other restaurants in Beverly Hills. They suggest ordering 3 to 5 dishes per person, but the issue we had was every single dish we ordered came out at the same time. I wish they would have staggered them, but I still really enjoyed everything that we ordered. We ordered: 1. Smashed Fingerling Potatoes: a real hit at the table but they are a smaller sized portion, barely enough to share. 2. Arepas de Borracha: these came as two very small arepas that had a great flavor but only took 2 bites to finish them. I would pass on these. 3. Salmon Tiradito: our least favorite dish of the night. It just didn’t have a lot of flavor and was a smaller sized portion. 4. Upside down Tostada: our favorite dish of the night! The ceviche was packed full of floor and it came with a ton of onions and avocado and was a good sized portion. 5. Seafood Paella: this was very good but not as good as some other Spanish restaurants close by. It was also a smaller sized portion and not really suitable to share. 6. Melting Cotton Candy: this was our 2nd favorite dish of the night. The salted caramel banana gelato was heavenly and the mix of strawberries and cotton candy really made for delicious flavors. Overall I would say this is a fantastic restaurant and would especially be great for a date because it is all share-sized portions and they also have an extensive drink menu as well.

Lou’Mar was so much fun. Went with a couple friends and we split several small plates and one entree. The service was impeccable - shout out Eden - and all staff was super friendly. Chef Marcos came out to chat to every table, he was very gracious with his time. A nice touch! We had the brie bites, chicharrones, and pork belly definitely recommend them all. Our entree was the kimchi pallela and I’d go back for it all (and more). The cocktails were also incredible - quite the show! The presentation was much more conceptual than i anticipated - it was a great experience.

Omg by far the best restaurant in los angeles. Every Item on the menu is amazing and the staff is amazing. Chef marcos and Louis truly are artist. The food is amazing the drinks are delicious and it doesn't break the bank. Definetly will be returning. I recommend this place to all my friends and won't be stopping anytime soon. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation for a date night. Stop by solo for a drink and an apperizer or just come hang out with a group of friends. Truly and experience you won't regret.

Last night I took my cousin to Lou’Mar to celebrate her birthday and we had an incredible time! This space has a intimate dinner vibe and would be super cute for a dinner or a date night. Let’s start with the drinks - We got a peachy keen (delicious, sweet, you wouldn’t know there was a liquor in it) and the Lou’Mar margarita (which came with this whole helium bubble topper - yes, the bubbles are edible and pitch your voice if you eat them quick enough 😅) For food - - the upside down tostada is so good! It’s like a ceviche with a corn chip with different flavors. The fish is so fresh. We devoured this. - the arepas borracha is great. It’s like a brisket on top of a small corn dough base. You won’t chew this, you’ll inhale it. Order two if you’re sharing (only 3 pieces come in each order). - the soy glazed lamb chops were delicious and very filling! Grab a table in the corner so if you wind up going to town on one of the chops no one will see 🤣 - the borracha brisket dumpling is a chef’s kiss! It’s perfect for cooler nights. You get the enjoyment of dumpling but the savory of brisket. Don’t be cute and cut it in half, pop the whole thing in your mouth. - dessert - they sent us something super unique (I didn’t catch the name) but it was like a deconstructed apple pie with flakes of gold all around it. Our waiter was super attentive and at one point Lou’Mar (Louis and Marcos) even popped by our table to say hello and make sure we were enjoying our meal. Will definitely come back soon 🫶🏾

I visited Lou'Mar on Saturday night for my birthday, and it was WONDERFUL. It was my first time trying chicken adobo, and I absolutely loved it. The drinks were sublime, and the dessert was heavenly. Most of all, the service was a 20 out of 10. I will definitely return. If you haven't tried Lou'Mar yet, you are missing out!!!!

Had a fun date night last night at Lou’Mar! Really tasty drinks with fun interactive elements from the bartenders. Even the dessert had a fun interactive element with chocolate melting over the top of a pumpkin gelato right at the table👌🏻. Chef Marcos came out to greet the guests one by one and we even got a few magic tricks from him. Lively atmosphere. The kitchen was serving a prix fixe menu so we’ll definitely come back to try the regular menu!

We had the most incredible meal at Lou Mar. Every dish was delicious, with complex and complimentary flavors. The octopus was tender, and we thoroughly enjoyed every single starter. The desserts and cocktails were playful and memorable. On top of the food, Chef Marcos was warm and welcoming. We had a wonderful evening and will be coming back next chance we get!

Came here for a valentines prefix. Incredible. Very cozy small restaurant. Modern decor. Cocktails are fantastic with helium clouds and smoke bubbles. Food was delicious. Playing great music too. Highly recommend as an intimate date spot. Will definitely come back again to try the full menu

Yelp
What a wonderful experience at Lou'Mar! I can't wait to go back because my friend and I had so much FUN! This isn't like any other restaurant I've been to because the cocktails were interactive and an activity basically. I suggest coming here if you want to have something to talk about after. I loved the arepas and the paella was okay. Would probably order the arepas again!! Thank you Lou'Mar for the wonderful service and for taking great care of us. Can't say enough about how great the staff is here- you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for a relaxing and fun dining experience, this is the place to be!

Yelp
The restaurant is located on the second floor of Nerano in Beverly Hills (you have to take an elevator up to the second floor through Nerano). This gives the spot kind of a fun speakeasy feel to it. When you get out of the elevator, you walk into a beautifully designed / decorated, cozy, albeit slightly quirky space. It's not large (I think the capacity is 34). Came here for a food event, which I did a review for separately, but this experience in particular was grabbing a drink at the bar. (I did think the food was delicious though and urge folks to come here and give this place a try. I know I want to come back and try more menu items.) The bar is beautifully designed and organized. I found myself perusing and mentally cataloguing the whiskeys as I always do when I go to new restaurants. But this place looked like a place that has fun cocktails. So I ordered The George Michael. The drinks here are really interactive, and the bartenders are super enthusiastic to the point that it's infectious. My drink in particular had some bowls that floated up and you had to catch it with a paddle. Flavor wise it was like espresso martini with a peanut butter twist to it. All in all this place is a great place to grab drinks and/or food. Lots of fun. There's a lot of street parking nearby, but it could get challenging especially during the weekends. I came in the middle of the week and was able to find parking about a block away.

Yelp
Stunning presentation, menu items and decor (minus the TV and changing image art on the wall which was absolutely distracting and ridiculous), Lou' Mar aims to please and rightfully earns five stars based on service and creative delicious meals. Every plate is a work of art: beautiful striking colors, deliciously seasoned bites, variety of meals to please all taste buds. Located on the top level of an 30+ year established restaurant, Lou'Mar is the colobration of Venezuelan and Korean influences. Our personal favorites were the Spa Martini, Deconstrtucted Shortcake, K-crisp Chiccarones, and Charred Octopus. I wish I could have tried all the coctails, but since they had one of my favorite cabernes, Austin Hope from Pasa Robles, we had to give one a try. The Spa Martini was served with bubbles on a paddle (which had no flavor) but the drink was absolutely delicious and unforgetable. The K-crisp Chiccarones was savory sweet, spicy, crispy and addicting. The Charred Octopus was the absolute best, perfectly prepared I have ever had with the most flavorful potatoes. For dessert, the Deconstructed Shortcake was wrapped in cotton candy which was torched to unvail the most delicious shortcake I have ever had. The Cachapa appetizer was delicious and comforting; the Soy Glazed Lamb Chops as the main entree was slightly overcooked yet tender and sweet. Upon leaving the evening wrapped up with a beautiful sign, "Empathy For Everyone". YES!!

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here! The food is absolutely delicious, the drinks are showstoppers and fantastic as well. The quality and care they put into each dish is amazing, we tried variety of their food and all of it was recommendable. Even something simple as the french fries were executed as some of the best I've ever had! Highly recommended for happy hour or dinner!

Yelp
Um, new favorite restaurant alert. Lou'Mar is located above Nerano and yes you need to go inside Nerano to take the elevator up to Lou'Mar. The adventure to find the right location is worth it as you will arrive at an immersive and interactive culinary experience like no other. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, I had a reservation for one at 5pm on a Friday and had the time of my life dining solo. My server, Madeline, was so friendly and attentive throughout the entire evening. My server offered her recommendations when asked, including the Fade to Red mocktail when I inquired about the possibility of ordering a mocktail. Whew wee, that drink did NOT miss, I wanted to drink the Fade to Red by the gallon, it was SO good! And, I mentioned the restaurant is interactive, right? The bartender came over and blew my mind as he created bubbles for me to catch with my drink and make wishes. I have a lot of wishes and I know my wish of having a fabulous meal at Lou'Mar came true by the end of the night! While I waited for my entre, the Gorgonzola Crusted Filet, I was literally mesmerized by the artwork around the restaurant. My favorite by far were the three gentlemen creating art on their whiteboards. It was so neat!! Now, the Gorgonzola Crusted Filet was marvelous. From the presentation to the taste and everything in between, it was GREAT! Not only is there the filet but there is legit brisket as well. The meat was divine and I also really enjoyed the roasted garlic potato puree, asparagus, and the crispy potato shoestring atop the meat. I could not leave Lou'Mar without trying one of their desserts, even if I barely had room for it! I indulged in the Snow White's Apple. The smoky delivery and edible gold elevated the presentation even higher. The lemon mouse, tart tatin, apple filling, puff pastry, and red mirror glaze made this dish impeccable. Save room for dessert, you won't be disappointed. For anyone interested in parking (we're in LA afterall), there is valet for $14 as well as metered street parking. I was able to get a spot on the street on the Friday evening I had the pleasure of dining at Lou'Mar. I will return to Lou'Mar in the near future. Thank you so much for a 5+ star meal.

Yelp
I'm so lucky to have had the experience to check out this new restaurant in Los Angeles - from the food, the ambiance, to the service... everything was absolutely spectacular! We had the crispy brie and chicken skin chicharrones for our appetizers and grilled octopus and the kimchi seafood paella for our entrees. I have to say that the absolute highlight of the night was the crispy brie. It was an explosion of flavor with every bite and it was such a unique dish. The chicharrones were almost addictive and I ate the entire dish like they were potato chips. The grilled octopus was absolutely decadent and was perfectly chewy and flavorful. The only semi miss for me was the seafood paella but that might be due to just personal taste in that I don't frequently love paella dishes or kimchi but my partner enjoyed it. I also tried their signature margarita and unfortunately, I missed out on the interactive portion with the bubbles but it was still a delicious drink to pair with my meal. The ambience is trendy, playing a mix of Korean and Peruvian music. I loved the contemporary art video displays on the wall and the window view our seat gave us. The music was a little bit on the loud side and it was hard to hear my partner sometimes. It's an intimate, date night type vibe and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Lou'Mar!

Yelp
First off- hidden gem! This is in an excellent location at the edge of Beverly Hills on little Santa Monica. The valet parking makes it easy to get in and out- $12/lunch, $14/dinner. The space makes this restaurant feel very NY as you wander through the downstairs restaurant and head onto the elevator... the maitre'd downstairs is very friendly and guided the way...upstairs you turn left off the elevator and walk past the kitchen (door on the left) and into the restaurant. Our waiter was really friendly- I ordered a strawberry mule mock-tail which was delicious and pretty (see photo) and my partner had a coffee- he said it was tasty. We both thought the red leather chairs were incredibly comfy and made dining even nicer. I was entertained by the moving "artists" - 3 digital characters drawing on a board throughout the entire dinner. We both had the seafood paella with mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari and chicharron, and kimchi rice- beautiful flavors and not spicy! It was a healthy portion and I had leftovers BF who lived in Spain put it away and loved it! When we were leaving both chefs stopped and took a minute to talk with us which was lovely. One chef was Italian and worked as a chef on luxury yachts cooking all kinds of cuisine and the other chef Korean- they were really friendly and cool! It was all up a great enjoyable experience; awesome for date night, solo dining, or with a group of friends. Don't miss this hidden gem!

Yelp
Yum yum yum!! What a treat to try out this restaurant! We were blown away with the entire vibe from the service to the food and drinks to the staff. It really was an intimate dining experience. We had reservations for Friday night at 7pm. We entered through Nerano and we were escorted to the elevator. We were greeted immediately and seated on the spot. Btw, ample street parking (and it's free after 6pm!). The cocktails: - spa martini was FAB! Drinking it made me feel like I was truly at a spa. It was incredibly refreshing. In my opinion, it was a bit too sweet but it was still fantastic. Plus the show you get when you receive the drink is pretty epic! (No spoilers here, order it to see!) - lou'marg was aaaamazing! It was made with mezcal and had such a great taste. Super unique and creative! The entrees: - kimchi seafood paella was oh so tasty!! This was a for sure winner! It was reminiscent to the paella I had in Spain. The touch of kimchi was unique but totally went with the dish. It had a nice portion of clams, shrimp, and mussels. The flavors within the dish were a 10/10! - ahi tuna was truly unique. The rice was a black coconut rice and was sweet. It was a pleasant surprise. The ahi was cooked perfectly! I loved the carrot slaw that it was topped with. Plus the wasabi mousse was delightful. An interesting mix of flavors but it paired very nicely. Overall, we had such a blast! I posted videos of our drinks on our socials and have gotten so many questions about the restaurant. The drinks are the attention getter but the food is also delish! We can't wait to go back for another date night. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Yelp
We came for the Yelp Elite event. The restaurant is located above Nerano, you literally need to go inside Nerano and take an elevator to get to the restaurant. Valet only and it cost $14, from what I see there is no street parking so kinda sucks on that front. Food: I got the Seafood Paella, and the Spa Martini. The paella was ok, the shrimp were not fully cooked so we just took it to go so we can microwave it ;), the martini was presented pretty cool and was interactive. It was good but a bit sweet for my taste. My daughter got the Lamb Chops and she liked it although it was a bit overcooked nevertheless the taste was on point. My husband had the Smashed Burger and he said it was awesome except for the truffle oil which is really on him coz he doesn't like truffle oil. The Snow White dessert was really good and I highly recommend it. Service was awesome and attentive.

Yelp
It was about 6 of us doing a tea party in a hotel a couple of blocks from Lou'Mar. We were celebrating a birthday. We wanted to go somewhere for drinks. I got on my Yelp app to find what was close by. Found Lou' Mar was in walking distance. Reviews were good. Happy Hour was still happening. We got there. Walked up to the check-in desk. We were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't. He made a call to see if they could take us. It was OK. To our surprise, we were led to an elevator to take us to the 2nd floor. We entered a nice quaint restaurant with friendly staff to greeting us. We got seated. Service was awesome. We met the owner. He did card tricks at our table. Our drinks, food and service was awesome. We must make a trip back there.

Yelp
Surprise dinner from my husband. You come in through another restaurant, the maitre d welcomes you and then walks you to an elevator that brings you up to the restaurant. You walk through a beautifully decorated hallway, walk into this exquisitely red and black dining room. It's a an intimate setting vibe. We were greeted by Andres whom was very friendly, Not only is he the bar tender but also assisted us with our meal. He made some very good recommendations and I must say one thing that separated him from other mixologists was how he created this wonderfully smooth semi sweet strawberry cocktail out of one of our dishes. We had the following: Upside Down Tostada-Tostada has drops of 3 different sauces, enough to not over power all other flavors, it was lying on top of a bed of red snapper, avocado, ají amarillo sauce, and micro herbs. Tasty, had a good balance of acidity and it was fresh. Arepas Borrachas: slow braised tender beef atop a small round corn thick tortilla. Almost like a sope. It has two sauces, a sweet and spicy as well as a cream based sauce. The combination is extremely delicious. I could have eaten all 3 by myself. Pastrami sliders: nice portion of sliced pastrami inside a buttery toasted bread with. Seafood Paella-this was my first time trying paella and I will say it was very good. The rice was cooked perfectly and it was seasoned to a T. It had oysters, clams, shrimp, calamari, pork belly, chicharrón. I think you can also add chicken. What more can I say. The pictures don't do this justice. Soy Glazed Lamb Chops: the sweet glaze combination with the pickled chili (spicy) cucumber kimchi create this explosion of flavor. Take a bit of the sautéed beet greens and dip them in the sauce, trust me you'll want more. Deconstructed Strawberry Shortbread Cake: this heavenly dessert is under cotton candy which is gently melted away at your table. Pieces of the cake with a strawberry compote and a banana ice cream/gelato. We had a few cocktails and they were all very good. Love potion, maple old fashion, Lou'Mar garita, but not with mezcal, wine and again a cocktail made with the zesty lemony juice from our ceviche tostada. We were feeling adventurous and I am glad we tried it. Both chef Marcos and chef Louis came out and spoke with all guests, they make you feel at home. Not only did they take the time to welcome everyone but they also brought out food and partook in the meals or drinks that had came with a surprise. A big thank you to both chef Marcos, Chef Louis and Andres for making our night a memorable experience. You definitely will not get this kind of attention anywhere else. The pictures don't compare to the presentation, the aromas, and the taste. It's a true sensory experience. We will be back, bringing our friends and family. Looking forward to our next time back!

Yelp
Looking for a fresh twist on date night? Look no further than Lou Mar! Nestled in Beverly Hills, this hidden gem offers a fusion fare of Korean and Venezuelan flavors, perfect for a fun evening out. Share a plate of the K-Crisp Chiccarones for a crispy, savory start, and let the Togarashi Seared Tuna set the mood. Don't let the Love Potion fool you - stick to the Rosso Corsa cocktail to sip on (much better tasting) as you cozy up with your special someone - it's sure to add a dash of romance to your evening!

Yelp
Sad to hear the originial Marlou location in DTLA closed, I followed Chef Marcos and Chef Louis to this new Beverly Hills spot. Both guys are great and have crafted a very interesting Korean/Venezuelan fusion menu. There is a little bit of confusion on where exactly the restaurant is located...it's upstairs on top of Nerano. You have to walk in through Nerano, past the maitre d' desk and to the left there is an elevator to take you up. I believe additional signage is in the works, coming soon to help clarify this. The ambiance is intimate, the decor is cool. There is a small bar to enjoy a cocktail if you're early for your reservation. My friend is a bit picky food wise, and absolutely no seafood for her, so we settled on the crispy brie (one of my fav's), the arepas borracha (the brisket was very flavorful), soy glazed lamp chops (delicious sauce) and borracha brisket dumpling. The dumplings were good, but we were chatting too much and they got cold. I would like to see a more thoughtful approach to the timing of the service of the dishes, rather than all at once, especially with a soup that will cool down quickly. The portion sizes are small-ish, but the 4 dishes we ordered were the perfect amount for 2 people. 3 crispy brie's, 3 arepas, 4 small lamb chops and 5 dumplings in each order. Definitely a spot to order dishes and share. They have a few interactive moments that are fun and for the gram. My drink, the George Michael, came with a tower of foam that we played with. The dessert came with cotton candy that they melted with a torch. Very fun. Bonus: the chefs are great guys and I really enjoyed talking with both of them. Interesting flavors on the food. Bogus: no foot traffic for them, and no signage yet about where to go. Will I be back? Yes! Great spot for a date or girls catch up night.

Yelp
Let me first say that the ambience of Lou'mar was welcoming and intimate. It was a bit loud while we were dining; the music was loud, and people had to talk over the music, so it was extremely hard to hear the conversation at my table. We started out with the chiccarones and they were to die for! So good! my friend had the charred Octopus with shishito peppers, topped with a lovely spicy mayo sauce. The sauce was so delicious. We asked for an extra side, and the chef brought it out himself! I had the Gorgonzola crusted filet, which came on a bed of mashed potatoes, asparagus, and crispy onions on top. Everything was so delicious. We had no leftovers to bring home! We ended our dining experience with dessert... The cotton candy strawberry shortcake with a scoop of banana gelato. The waiter comes out and torches it with a flame, which is so cool! Also, if you check in on Yelp, you get a free banana gelato scoop! the entire staff was so friendly, it made our entire evening so enjoyable.

Yelp
The restaurant is located upstairs and the space is small and intimate. There is a bar with a few bar stools and red chairs and unique art displays around. The food was great . We had the smash burger and the filet . Both very delicious and filling . The sweet potato fries that came with the smash burger were slightly spicy which I loved . The banana gelato was not something I would order again but I would consider coming back here for dinner again in the near future and trying other menu items . Severs were very friendly and chef Lou even stopped by our table to check in on us .

Yelp
We just had the coolest Friday girls night at this place! We could immediately tell that we came to the right place to have both good time and good food from how welcoming and super kind everyone was. Drinks and deserts were so interactive and fun owing to the helium infusion that made our night 10 times better!! Everything super delicious and with good quality. Such a good vibe, would definitely come back! Don't forget to check in to get the most delicious scoop of banana gelato of your life!

Yelp
Today I got to experience my first yep event at Lou'Mar and was not disappointed. I was able to find street parking in front of the restaurant but the space does offer valet parking. Lou'Mar is located atop of Nerano and you can access the restaurant using an elevator inside or the stair around the back. The restaurant is small and very intimate, however they can also provide a family friendly atmosphere. The restaurant was dark and sexy with a nice accent light on each table along with bright decorative light that illuminated areas of the restaurant. My fiancé and I started with cocktails, She had the Spa Martini which came with an amazing presentation and I had The Remedy. We also ordered the Arepas Borracha for starters which was delicious with juicy brisket cooked to perfection. For our main courses she had the Soy Glazed Lamb Chops that were cooked medium rare with a spicy yet sweet taste, and I had the Kimchi Seafood Paella that was packed with flavor. The service was very exceptional, the waitress was very attentive and the manager made sure everything was to our liking. The bartender conducted the cocktail presentation so elegantly and even performed it a second time for our 2 year old's strawberry lemonade. Chef Louis and Chef Marcos were hanging out at the bar and shared their gratitude for us dining at their restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant for date night, I know I will be back to enjoy.

Yelp
I had a sneak peek at the new spot before it opened, and I have to say it's a special place! Not only does it have unique cocktails with helium bubbles, but it also features Korean-Venezuelan cuisine. The handcrafted cocktails were all amazing, but my favorite was the Rosso Corsa with vodka. The food was also incredible. My top picks were the charred octopus, crispy Brie, and Cachapa. The upside-down tostada, vegan chicken, and K Crisp chicharrones were also unique and delicious. Chefs Louis and Marcos were very friendly and staff were very attentive. There's no lot but there is valet for $14 and plenty of street parking, which is free after 6pm.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Lou'Mar last night. Lou'Mar was a little hard to find at first, it is located at the second floor, but you check in downstairs at a place called Nerano. Great staff, who were very attentive and made sure our time was great. I ordered a double smash burger whist my girlfriend ordered a Kimchi seafood paella. I really liked my burger. Great flavor. Sweet potato fries had kimchi dusted on top, which was wonderful. The Banana Gelato was wonderful. My girlfriend ordered the Rossa Corsa, which she really enjoyed. Tasted just like strawberry lemonade. Definitely will be coming back again. Looking forward to trying some of their artesian cocktails next time.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place... The food was insanely delicious, the presentation super cool, and everyone that worked there was so fun and attentive... especially Andres!!! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Food is outstanding! Chefs are Venezuelan and Korean. Both flavors came throughout the menu. Our waiter Andres was friendly, knowledgeable and just plain awesome! He's a hard worker and deserves all our tips. Worth a visit for delicious food and atmosphere. Valet was easy. Not recommended: Paella Recommend: EVERYTHING else, including cocktails. We especially loved the arepas and dumplings, and both desserts (apple one and cotton candy one)

Yelp
If there is one place you MUST experience, this is it for sure!!! We had the most spectacular evening at Lou'Mar. From the minute we walked into Nerano, the restaurant below Lou'Mar, we were treated with the top tier of customer service. We were escorted into the elevator up one floor then seated at our table. It was a Saturday night in Beverly Hills & we had made a reservation earlier in the week to ensure a table. It is definitely one of those hidden gems, that you want to tell everyone about, but in fear that it will keep you from getting a future reservation once it is discovered. Everything from the ambiance, customer service, to the presentation, to the theatrics of certain items on both the menu and drink menu was absolutely incredible. We got to meet and chat with Chef Marcos, which was another fantastic highlight to the night. Honestly, both of us being fans of his season of " Below Deck" made eating the food that much more special. The two chef's and bartender Andres, are true artists at what they do and you can tell there is passion within it. Chef Marcos spoke to us as if we were friends from long ago and his friendly, warm and personable nature was truly embracing!! Andres crafted such amazingly presented cocktails, that came along with a smoke and foam show. You'll understand when you go to experience it for yourself. My husband loves to try multiple menu items and we loved that everything was shareable. Madeline was our server and great at making suggestions and finding out the things we liked. We ordered 4 amazingly crafted cocktail's, 2 apps, 3 entree's & both of the offered dessert's. (See photos) The blend of flavors was unlike anything we had ever had before,& honestly we just couldn't stop smiling all night. We commented how our faces hurt from having so much happiness being there. We have eaten in many high end places over the years and each time has been a fabulous time. However, overall, we quickly agreed that this is our all time favorite. The space is really cool too. With the deep red chairs and dark wood tables and classy style of the bar and the entire space, it was comfortable and not at all intimidating. A cool animated artists' installation on one wall and eye catching decor around on the other walls. We opted to Lyft, but next time will drive due to the super simple area and cost of the valet right in front. We are very much looking forward to going back,& strongly suggest anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience to give this place a try.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here last night - a hidden gem! The facilities are clean, staff friendly, and the ambience/music delightful. Drinks are both fun and delicious. Tried the Lou'mar Garita and Naked and Famous, loved them. The 'Cachapa with shrimp' and 'Arepas Borracha' from the small plates menu were amazing. The slow-cooked brisket was a highlight. 'Charred Octopus' and Kimchi Paella' from the big plates menu were flavorful and tender - a perfect fusion of Latin and Korean flavors. Can't wait to return with family and friends!

Yelp
Seated upstairs by the window overlooking Santa Monica Blvd, I had a delightful time enjoying the delicious food here! We were promptly seated for our reservation and everyone was very friendly and timing of check-ins was great as we didn't feel rushed nor ignored. I sipped on a tasty rosso corsa with bourbon while watching their cool animated triptych art piece. For starters, we got the cauliflower salad and the pork belly. For entree, I got the filet which was yummy and tender, served with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I enjoyed everything, but I LOVED loved loved the cauliflower salad. Warm cauliflower in a savory sauce with some crispy light leafy veg and crispy chickpeas. I would come back to eat two servings of that and try some more menu items. And street parking within a block wasn't too difficult to find for our 6pm mid-week reservation (:

Yelp
The food was AH-MAZING and SO yummy!! The borracha, pastrami sliders, vegan chicken, and seafood paella were our favorites. The spa martini was both fun (poof - make a wish!) and tasty. Make sure you get a dessert - or both!! They are equally yummy and fun. We also enjoyed the upside down tostada and shishito peppers. The fish was fresh and the peppers were spicy. The service was impeccable. They were friendly, attentive, and fun. I couldn't have asked for a more stellar experience. And if the food, ambiance, and service wasn't enough, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting and chatting with Chef Marcos from Below Deck. It was so fun learning about him and his experiences that helped shape our fun culinary experience. Thanks everyone at LOU'MAR for making our 10th wedding anniversary unforgettable.

Yelp
I had the most amazing experience at Lou'Mar! My Mom and I are from Seattle and came to CA for a girls trip, my Mom loves Below Deck and wanted to dine at one of Chef Marcos' restaurants. Prior to our trip we planned to go to his downtown location but we learned of its closure - thankfully Chef Marcos and Chef Louis opened Lou'Mar and had their soft opening right when we would be in LA! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Of course the food and drinks are to die for but all of the staff from our waitress (the lovely Maddy) to the bar tender (Andres) to of course the chefs were absolutely wonderful. My mom and I got to meet Chef Louis, he is so kind and the food he makes is unbelievable. We started off with the Spa Martini - it was delicious and we loved the presentation of it (see video). We met Andres the bar tender who created these lovely cocktails and it was such a joy to meet him. Once it was time to order it was so difficult to decide what to get, I honestly wanted one of everything on the menu but sadly my stomach won't allow that. First we tried the crispy quinoa and beets along with one of their signature dishes cachapa and added shrimp based on a recommendation from one of the staff- it was SO good! We then tried the borracha brisket dumplings - not pictured because we dove right in and forgot to get a picture but also another amazing dish. We then tried the charred octopus and the red snapper. Both the octopus and red snapper were cooked perfectly (I know octopus can be a difficult cook but it was perfect). We were then ready for dessert and opted for the deconstructed strawberry shortbread cake with melted cotton candy and once again, another amazing dish. My Mom and I had the best time and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I am already planning my next trip back to LA so I can dine here again!

Yelp
Food good. Drinks good. Price is reasonable. Service excellent. Portions are larger than expected but classic "smol". Best to go family style and enjoy delicious variety of foods.

Yelp
Lou'Mar is the new exceptional restaurant here in Century City. My son and I had a delicious meal with great service and in a delightful environment. It's my new kitchen that I can walk to and look forward to familiar friendly faces. Best meal = the five star catagory. sb

Yelp
Very, very bad. Came here for my birthday and my God, what a train wreck. Uninspired menu with basic and bad flavors. I tried about 5 dishes and maybe one of them was OK, the rest were bad. I asked about one item on the menu to my server and they frowned and said " It's not my favorite.." Should have known from that lol.

Yelp
SHOCKINGLY BAD. Bad enough to where im writing this review outside of the restaurant as soon as I left. Everything we ordered was at best lackluster and at worst, straight up bad. Peachy keen drink- horrible aftertaste, tasted like very cheap alcohol was used for it Upside down tostada- flavors were okay but absolutely nothing special. Very expensive for what it was Chiccarones- probably the best thing we had, addicting and good flavor Arepas- completely flavorless, the arepas almost tasted frozen Dumplings- absolutely no flavor. The only thing i could taste was the noodle. Miso sauce had no flavor either Octopus- very well cooked with a good texture but very basic flavors. There was one other party in the restaurant when we were there and they asked for a salt shaker to be left at their table mid meal lol. Honestly one of the worst meals Ive had in LA. Service was great though!

Yelp
Excellent experience. My husband and I ordered the crispy brie, tostada, arepas, and seafood paella. Perfect amount for 2 people. We also ordered 2 cocktails that came with a fun show I've never seen before. Everything was delicious, and we can't wait to come back to try the other menu items, but I think I'll need to order the arepas or tostada again. Big thank you to chef Marcos and our server (I think it was Andres) for amazing service and conversation. Last note, we found street parking nearby on a Wednesday night which I love but there is also valet right out front.

Yelp
A must try hidden gem located in the heart of Beverly Hills!! The octopus is to die for, the dumplings are my absolute favorite and I just tried the salad last night and it's a 10 out of 10!!! Great service, delicious food and drinks. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for great ambiance and somewhere to go on a date night, girls night out or even solo night. The chefs make you feel like you're at home.

Yelp
One of the best VEGAN meals I've ever had. We emailed a week in advance to see if they could accommodate plant-based guests. While there is a Vegan Chicken item, they went above and beyond to prepare vegan versions of several menu items. Truly delicious and soulful flavors with gorgeous presentation. The staff was top notch and Chef Marcos was so kind (he even did a card trick at the end!).

Yelp
Incredible meal. Flavorful food, we were well-taken care of. Great presentation made the meal even more memorable. If you have the opportunity, definitely give this place a try.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. One dish was better than the next one. We had crispy quinoa and beets, k crisp chiccarones, arepas borracha and crispy red snapper. The dessert was also amazing so creative

Yelp
If you're interested in a fabulous meal at a fantastic new restaurant in Beverly Hills then Lou'Mar will not disappoint. The incredible flavors influenced from Chef Marcos Spaziani's Venezuelan background are wonderful. From the arepas to the cachapas the flavors are layered and blended beautifully together. The octopus was the best we have ever had. The Snow Whites's apple dessert was amazing. The restaurant/bar had a sultry, sexy vibe. Background music and noise level were perfect to be able to carry on a conversation and not be shouting or straining to hear like at so many other establishments these days. Bar tender was creating some awesome interactive cocktails for the table next to us. Got to meet Marcos personally and if you meet him it will be memorable. He is a really special Chef and person that really puts his heart into everything he does. We loved his food and will return in a few weeks when we return back into town again. Lou'Mar has some special holiday things coming so don't miss out. Congratulations on your new restaurant Marcos and see you soon.

Yelp
One of the best meals and service in LA. All of the flavors of each dish were unique and everything was very reasonably priced. Drinks were an experience from floating helium bubbles (the George michael) to large bubbles in the spatini. Everything was next level with Louis and Marcos talking with us at length, presenting dishes, and recommending items. We went with a party of 4 and tried a variety of dishes to share- definitely the way to go! We cant wait to go back and try the other dishes we missed this round!!!

Yelp
Increadable food, cocktails are spectacular and unusual and the dining room is super cool.

Yelp
I went to Loumar on Saturday night. My friend recommended it and she tried it for the soft opening. The food was delicious and loved the space. I shared the red snapper cecviche which I'm still craving. The fish was so fresh and had so much flavor. The portions were large enough to share. We also share the brisket on the arepa. The brisket was so flavorful and to place it on an arepa, so good! We also shared the red snapper fish which was light and yummy but once we got the paella the red snapper wasn't nearly as good. The paella was next level. Everything just had a lot of flavor and was happy the portions were a decent size. Now to my favorite part of the meal, the dessert. OMG- we couldn't decide so tried both. Chef Marcos came out to present it and he was so nice. The strawberry/rum was one of the best desserts I have ever had. The apple was so cute but not sweet enough for me although my friend inhaled it. I must say, great date place or place to go on a date or girls dinner. I cannot wait to go back and try the lamb that i heard was amazing!

Yelp
the food is beyond delicious. i was devouring the food. the octopus, the crispy brie, and the soy glaze. Lamb chops were my favorite. The service was fantastic. Each meal came at the perfect timing and everything was amazing. The waiters were so kind. sexy ambience!! Coming here soon!!!!!!!!!
