Surprise dinner from my husband. You come in through another restaurant, the maitre d welcomes you and then walks you to an elevator that brings you up to the restaurant. You walk through a beautifully decorated hallway, walk into this exquisitely red and black dining room. It's a an intimate setting vibe.
We were greeted by Andres whom was very friendly, Not only is he the bar tender but also assisted us with our meal. He made some very good recommendations and I must say one thing that separated him from other mixologists was how he created this wonderfully smooth semi sweet strawberry cocktail out of one of our dishes.
We had the following: Upside Down Tostada-Tostada has drops of 3 different sauces, enough to not over power all other flavors, it was lying on top of a bed of red snapper, avocado, ají amarillo sauce, and micro herbs. Tasty, had a good balance of acidity and it was fresh.
Arepas Borrachas: slow braised tender beef atop a small round corn thick tortilla. Almost like a sope. It has two sauces, a sweet and spicy as well as a cream based sauce. The combination is extremely delicious. I could have eaten all 3 by myself.
Pastrami sliders: nice portion of sliced pastrami inside a buttery toasted bread with.
Seafood Paella-this was my first time trying paella and I will say it was very good. The rice was cooked perfectly and it was seasoned to a T. It had oysters, clams, shrimp, calamari, pork belly, chicharrón. I think you can also add chicken. What more can I say. The pictures don't do this justice.
Soy Glazed Lamb Chops: the sweet glaze combination with the pickled chili (spicy) cucumber kimchi create this explosion of flavor. Take a bit of the sautéed beet greens and dip them in the sauce, trust me you'll want more.
Deconstructed Strawberry Shortbread Cake: this heavenly dessert is under cotton candy which is gently melted away at your table. Pieces of the cake with a strawberry compote and a banana ice cream/gelato.
We had a few cocktails and they were all very good. Love potion, maple old fashion, Lou'Mar garita, but not with mezcal, wine and again a cocktail made with the zesty lemony juice from our ceviche tostada. We were feeling adventurous and I am glad we tried it.
Both chef Marcos and chef Louis came out and spoke with all guests, they make you feel at home. Not only did they take the time to welcome everyone but they also brought out food and partook in the meals or drinks that had came with a surprise. A big thank you to both chef Marcos, Chef Louis and Andres for making our night a memorable experience.
You definitely will not get this kind of attention anywhere else. The pictures don't compare to the presentation, the aromas, and the taste. It's a true sensory experience. We will be back, bringing our friends and family. Looking forward to our next time back!
