French cafe serving all-day bistro fare in a rustic farmhouse storefront

"At Loupiotte Kitchen in Los Feliz, the air smells like coffee, there are knick-knacks galore, and you'll probably see a five-year-old wearing the contents of a chocolate croissant on her face. This is the kind of cute, comforting French cafe you want on a weekday morning. Order something simple like fluffy scrambled eggs and a pesto-slathered vegetarian sandwich, or cheesy polenta with a deep-fried egg that's still runny in the middle." - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins
"Before (or after) heading over to Griffith Park’s many trails or hiking up its 90-year-old Observatory, stop by Los Feliz’s charming French cafe, Loupiotte Kitchen. Breakfast is served all day long, with dishes like brioche French toast; creamy polenta with a panko-crusted soft-boiled egg, mushrooms, and Parmesan; and a granola parfait. For lunch, try an avocado tartine or goat cheese salad. Checkered red-and-white tablecloths set the mood for a vibey brunch." - Rebecca Roland
"Another French cafe in Los Feliz, Loupiotte is the ideal place for a 2pm glass of wine when “work from home” isn’t going as well as you might have hoped. Pair it with some creamy polenta with mushrooms and a fried egg, or their excellent burger - made with gruyere and confit d’oignons (jammy onions) - and you’ll be very happy. They’ve got a partially-covered patio with a few tables off Vermont." - brett keating
"Loupiotte in Los Feliz lets you know it’s a French cafe from the moment you walk in: the menu is printed on French comic strips, and the wine list has a huge number of French varietals. It’s a fine place to come at night for some seasonal risotto, or fregola sarda with vegetables, but our favorite time to eat here is the morning. The soft scrambled eggs with parmesan and tomato are great, as is the creamy parmesan polenta, which comes topped with a jammy egg and sautéed mushrooms." - brant cox, sylvio martins, arden shore
"Loupiotte Kitchen in Los Feliz does an excellent French breakfast that feels like a friend lovingly whipped it up for you in their apartment. The omelets and soft scrambles are simple and full of butter, and that same homey (butter-heavy) approach is applied to their steak frites. This cute cafe nails the cooking time on the flat iron, so much that the provided steak knife feels like a suggestion. The gravy-like au poivre has a pleasant smooch of peppercorns and is just runny enough to zamboni it up with the soft, thick-cut fries. We love that they throw in a little bistro salad, too—do as the French do and save it for a final palate cleanser." - sylvio martins, brant cox, cathy park, garrett snyder
