"A slow-roasted rotisserie chicken might not be the first food that pops into your head after emerging from Barton Springs' 68-degree cold plunge, but don’t knock the combination until you’ve tried it. Of course, Lou’s does have more than just rotisserie chickens. There are also burgers, fried chicken, and creamy frozen custard. But rotisserie meats are our favorite thing to get here. Start with smashed cucumbers, order a hibiscus paloma, then prepare to get your fingers messy with a half chicken dipped in jalapeño chimichurri or smoked paprika piri-piri." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

"Lou’s on East Cesar Chavez almost feels like it was built for takeout, operating out of a small space with orders placed at an outdoor window. Of course, if you’d rather sit down and enjoy your rotisserie and frozen custard, all of their seating is outdoors on a well-spaced patio with plenty of picnic tables. And if you show up on a Tuesday, all bottles of wine are half-price." - raphael brion, nicolai mccrary
"When: Weekdays, 3-5pm and 9-10pm The Deal: $5 classic burger; half-off Lone Stars and Sangria Lou’s almost feels like it’s a patio first, and a restaurant second. The food is mostly rotisserie-based, but they also sell tacos, sandwiches, and a really tasty burger. Weekdays from 4-6pm (and 9-10pm for you late eaters) you can get the burger for $5, as well as half-price Lone Stars and $5 cocktails. Also, wine is half off on Tuesdays and there is trivia on Wednesdays." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"The casual restaurant from the McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality group serves up a chicken tender basket featuring buttermilk-fried strips. The tenders can also be added to one of the big salads or ordered as part of a sandwich that comes with mozzarella, pickled red onions, lettuce, tomato, smoked paprika aioli, and hot sauce. There’s this location in East Austin and a second one on Barton Springs Road; takeout and delivery orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Eric Webb
