12 Stellar Places to Enjoy Fish and Seafood in Houston

"Striking green and red soups and sauces and an inviting bar draw visitors to this Spring Branch restaurant. After navigating challenges during the pandemic, Alli Jarrett moved the former Finn Hall outpost to Spring Branch, bringing a range of thoughtfully crafted seafood plates to the area. The fish and seafood options are endless here, but consider starting with the oyster nachos, which are topped with fried oysters, buffalo wing sauce, and blue cream cheese. A cheesy crawfish dip and crab cakes are also smart starters ahead of larger plates, like the Inlet shrimp and grits, blackened fish sea taco, and the Moon Landing fish sandwich, which features blackened catfish dressed with all the fixings and a house sauce, and nestled between a brioche bun." - Kayla Stewart

I post this on Friday, May 31- their last day open will be Sunday, June 2. The owner said they just didn’t get the traffic they needed to stay open. That being said, when they run out of items- they’re out. For happy hour - we wanted oysters- but ran out. Limited beer. We had the shrimp sliders, mussels, and Mary and Martha seafood platter. Shrimp and catfish were legit. Mussels were small, but sauce was delicious. Our server busted her butt— but was doing everything- making drinks, waiting on all tables. Finally help came in. Wish we would’ve found it sooner. Cute little New Orleans- themed eatery.

I had a bowl with blackened catfish and quinoa. The quinoa had a nice balance of shredded carrots, tomato’s, onions, and vinegar (I believe). The blackened catfish was moist and tender. The skin wasn’t over cooked, and it had a nice flavor that wasn’t overpowering. The portion sizes were just right although I could easily have eaten more. The gumbo (which I sampled), was also very good. Our waitress was warm and friendly. She spent some time making us feel welcomed and getting to know us. The bartender also asked me if we enjoyed our meal on the way out. This is a friendly establishment with a goal of wanting to become a local go to restaurant. I would highly recommend stopping in for a visit. If they continue to treat others who come here like they treated us, they will be very successful.

Really enjoyed dinner. For appetizer, the oyster nacho was surprisingly tender and flavorful. Never had it before, I really enjoyed it. Also had the fish ceviche, is very refreshing and doesn’t have any fishy taste. I ordered the blackened parley’s seafood platter with deviled crab, flounder and corn dodger. The deviled crab is incredible. Cocktail Drink flight from their bar is delicious. Love the banana caramel expresso!! Highly recommend it! We’ll be coming back for brunch lol

Had to come out to try the newest hotspot in town. We came for dinner, and EVERYTHING was amazing. Our server Jenee was very attentive and sweet. The ceviche was to die for, and we especially enjoyed the shrimp burger and the deviled crab in the seafood platter. We LOVED our watermelon pineapple margarita and the banana espresso cocktail - so unique and delicious! Too full for dessert; will need to come back to try more!

This was my first time visiting with my my family. We had a wonderful time we made our selection off the special menu for restaurant month. Jen was exceptional, and I think the manager helped as well. We enjoyed all of our food. I will definitely be back soon.

Wow, amazing dishes! We tried the Crab cake, Mussels, entree Shrimp n grits and the Mary Mary or something like that! This place has been there less than a year and has wonderful food! Our 1st time there. For non seafood eaters there is other food but their burgers look fantastic! I drove from the Eastside of Houston and worth the trip! We didnt drink but there is a full bar. Service was excellent and the manager was very attentive.

I want to thank Low Tide for such an amazing Thanksgiving dinner! Of course we had to tweak the gumbo to our liking but every other dish was perfect! Their service was professional and punctual and we can’t wait to see what’s on the menu for Christmas catering! Thanks again!!!

Google
A little nice gem in Spring Branch. Food and service were excellent. The oyster nachos were something new for me to try, and just loved it. Plenty of surface parking space, easy access and friendly service. Have to go back to try more menu items.

Yelp
We went there first time today. The food tasted very yummy! The crawfish was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The fresh oysters are my favorite! The shrimp po-boy has special seasoning and the shrimps are very tender. Definitely recommend to my friends!

Yelp
Happy hour all day today and tomorrow for March Madness! Good dependable seafood and friendly service in a chill casual atmosphere. Great for families. Happy hour is great they have east coast oysters for $2 each. Easy place to stop by if you want some seafood without a huge bill.

Yelp
I attended a birthday brunch at Low Tide. My friend always chooses a place that participates in HRW and this was her choice this year. She is originally from South Carolina and she was swayed by the Carolina seafood concept. Low Tide is owned by the same folks as Harold's which I didn't know beforehand. We had a reservation, but it wasn't busy when we first arrived. Parking wasn't difficult when we arrived, but when we left the lot was full and people were parking across the street. A patron asked us if we were leaving so they could move their car. Parking may be a challenge during peak hours. I can't remember our server's name (I think it was Jenny or Katie), but she was nice. She was apparently new to the restaurant, but she did a good job. I started with The Causeway for my beverage. It's a gin cocktail and it was a little too sweet for my preference. Courses: 1st: Fresh Fruit - the bowl that the fruit came in was larger than I was expecting. It was okay. It consisted mostly of pineapple and watermelon. The pineapple was a bit dry. 2nd: Bingle Cheeseburger - This was good. The burger was huge and the flavor was great. I was only able to eat half of it because it was so much food. 3rd: Granny Cake - I really enjoyed this, but was so full from the burger that I wasn't able to finish it. We had a nice time and I would definitely come back to try some of the other menu items.

Yelp
I came for their happy hour oysters and fell in love with everything else! Service was very helpful and friendly! I came the day after thanksgiving so it was empty inside, but I'm hoping that was because of the holidays because the food and drinks here are delicious and so reasonably-priced! HH GULF OYSTERS($1.25): These were so fresh and huge! I've been hunting for well-priced oysters since prices increased everywhere after the pandemic, and these are the best I could find. For cheap oysters, they definitely exceeded expectations in quality! FRIED SHRIMP PO' BOY: My bf is a po' boy connoisseur and he loved this! I had a bite too and was surprised by how delicious it was! All the fixin's made it really well-balanced. Even the fries were amazing! They were well-seasoned and sooo fresh! They were delicately crispy on the outside while remaining soft on the inside! So good! STEAMED MUSSELS: Wow, wow, wow! WOW! I couldn't believe this was only $8 on the happy hour menu! This is the kind of dish that makes your eyes roll to the back of your head. And mine did. Multiple times lol the mussels tasted so fresh and the garlic white wine sauce was so delicious and rich! The grilled toast was also ridiculously tasty. I'd normally leave the toast and only eat the mussels on dishes like this, but even the toast made my eyes roll back! You do need to eat the toast while it's hot to taste it at its best. It loses something when it cools down, and you'll regret that you didn't finish it while it was still hot (like I did). And don't forget to dip the toast in the sauce *chefs kiss* SANGRIA: This was DANGEROUSLY DELICIOUS!! And so cheap ($5) during happy hour!!

Yelp
Not going to lie it was sketchy empty the day I visited so I was hoping for the best haha. I was really in the mood for some raw oyster and this place came up as a nearby recommendation. The place was absolutely empty and it's pretty dark inside with only 1 waiter/bartender/host. He was very attentive and helped with recommendations. I got the oysters and really enjoyed them my only complaint would be my lemons were really dry. The strange highlight of my lunch was the chicken fried chicken. The reason I say strange is because I associate the restaurant with seafood based on the name. But oh boy was the chicken fried chicken with sausage gravy and amazing choice! The chicken was juicy but perfectly breaded and the gravy and mashed potatoes just chefs kiss haha. I hope more people discover this little gem!

Yelp
Quaint place, with good understanding of flavor. Came here on a Tuesday with some yelpers to enjoy Houston Restaurant weeks. I love trying places I normally wouldn't, but for this occasion. We had a resy but didn't need one, as the place only had a few groups. Service- Our server Cheyenne was fantastic. Always had a smile, lots of good suggestions. Very patient, and friendly. Parking- a breeze, enough lot space. HRW 23 Course 1- She Crab soup cup. This was yummy. Very cozy. I wish it was a bowl and not a cup! Great texture and flavor. Just enough crab flavor to feel good about it, the sherry adds to the brightness. Course 2- Salmon & Risotto. This was super tasty. Great cook on the salmon, tasty flavor. The mushroom risotto was yum. They did not skimp on the portion size! Green beans cooked well. Course 3- Cheesecake of the Day. That day, it was blueberry. It was a fantastic way to end to the meal. Great crust, sweet, but in a shocking way. This turned out to be a good choice for us, the whole group enjoyed.

Yelp
He had a girls brunch on Sunday - 10 of us, and we're kind of high maintenance...not really...but yes(lol). Our waitress had her hands full, but she was a delight. Even when an order was a little late getting out, she stayed calm. So owners - tell her thank you again. We ordered off the regular menu and the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu + a host of adult brunch beverages, and desserts. All delish. If you haven't been - GO!

Yelp
Instead of waiting in the repair shop to get my windshield replaced, I walked to this place about a mile down to road to this spot for lunch. It was empty and there was one gentleman behind the bar, so that's where I sat. We struck up a conversation as I looked over the menu. He recommended the mussels since I didn't want anything heavy. The mussels were cooked perfectly but in a lot of butter, which would've been fine if the bread wasn't also slathered in butter. Otherwise the bread was toasted perfectly. The shrimp burgers were a bit over seasoned to my taste. But the bread had a nice toast and the lightly buttered on a flat top and the veggies were fresh. If I were in the neighborhood, I'd stop by again. I would've tried the drink because the menu looked tasty.

Yelp
I have visited twice now this year and decided to write a review. The restaurant has free parking outside around three sides of this stand alone building. When the restaurant is busy parking can be a challenge. Inside it consists of one large room with a full bar on one side. The room is decorated and has columns with an attractive ceiling. My first trip was for lunch on a weekday and the crowd was sparse. I ordered the shrimp burger for $15. The meal came out in about 15 minutes and included fries. The burger came with 3 large onion rings on top which required removing to fit the burger in my mouth! By the way those rings were light and crunchy and very good taste wise! The burger had arugula, tomato and remoulade on the fried shrimp patty all protected by two buns. This meal was ok (3.5) due to shrimp patty's are not the equivalent to actual shrimp which I prefer. The fries were crispy with some Cajun dust on them. I might order another handheld next time. The next visit a few weeks later was at dinner time on a Friday. This time the restaurant was about 2/3 full and parking space was limited outside. I ordered the medium size Inlet shrimp and grits for $18 and added Aunt Dot's Blonde Brownie ($8) for dessert. The entree arrived in a bowl with the medium size shrimp, stone ground grits, onion, garlic and mushrooms with some bacon added. This was delicious! Very flavorful and filling, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The larger version is $6 more with large shrimp however the quantity of the food is the same. My recommendation is to save the money and go with the medium size. Later the dessert arrived and that warm butterscotch blonde brownie with walnuts and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream made me happy that I ordered it. This meal was a 4.5 and one I would order again.

Yelp
A group of friends and I came to Low Tide Kitchen & Bar to check out their HRW menu. Honestly, I had never heard of them before prior to their name popping up on the list of participating restaurants. This place is a very unassuming restaurant is in the Spring Branch area kind of near to I10. There was plenty of parking as the restaurant was not busy. Cheyanne was our bartender prior to sitting for dinner and our waitress for dinner and she was so friendly and helpful. A couple of us arrived early and decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail. I went with The Causeway which was a gin forward drink that was tasty and refreshing. We pivoted over to our table once our whole party arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy at all which was no indication of how good our food and service was. I started off with the seafood gumbo as my starter. I've been on a roll getting good gumbo recently and this one goes on that list too. It had a dark color to it which indicates good flavor and proper cooking. It was filled with pieces of shrimp, scallops and oyster. Very good. For my entree, I was told the Salmon and Risotto was the way to go. Everyone at the table except one person got just that. This salmon was was seared just right and basted with a lemon butter sauce. The flavors were so on point. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect cook on mine. The risotto and green beans were good, but nothing to write home about. I saw bread pudding on the menu and that's always my go to when I see it. It was good, but my friends Granny Cakes and Berry Cheesecake was way better. It's a shame this place was so empty when we came. It's also a shame I live so far because the food was really great. I'm glad I got to try it and would definitely come back if in the area.

Yelp
First trip and it was late afternoon on Sunday, about 5:30. Only two other tables were occupied, on with a couple and the other will a couple of families that were letting their kids chase each other around screaming at each other. Thankfully, we were able to get a table away from the kids. They had a "Sunday Special" with an all you care to eat special will fried shrimp and oysters, hush puppies, fries and coleslaw. Our waiter was very informative and helpful, and suggest we get the special if we like shrimp and oysters. In our party of five, three didn't want the oysters so he offer all shrimp instead of the mix. So we all had the special along with some she crab soup. The shrimp were medium size without the tail, but tasty, they oysters were fried with crisp outside and soft inside, just right. We had plenty of food on the first platter and didn't order any seconds. The fries were "OK" as were the hush puppies, but both were served just barely warm. The honey butter served with the hush puppies was great! We had a reasonably priced bottle of wine to accompany our dinner, not a long list but a good representation and nice range of prices. Not a stellar dinner, like we've experienced at Harold's, but promising. We'll be back soon. Hopefully they succeed, but they need a heavier crowd to survive.

Yelp
Came in on a random occasion, have lived near by for over a year and have never stopped in. Gary the GM was amazing and took very good care of us. Feel like this restaurant would do amazing in a different area. The food was great, and really good prices.

Yelp
Went during lunch on Friday, Donny was our server and he was alone. He warned us prior to placing our order - which was greatly appreciated! We ordered the crawfish dip as an appetizer- it was absolutely delicious! I had the Baja Shrimp taco which was very tasty! Chicken & Sausage gumbo had some good consistency! Will definitely return! There was a nice lunch crowd with great atmosphere!
google avatar

Tristan F.

Yelp
Great spot in Spring Branch for some easy seafood and great Happy Hour deals. Had a great piece of Blackened Catfish and inhaled the Crawfish Dip. And I'd recommend some of their Happy Hour drinks because they sure got the job done! The staff was all super nice and friendly too, so they'll definitely be getting more visits from me!
google avatar

Yelp
went for lunch today. Cocktails were very nice. Gumbo and shrimp po boy were excellent. And a side of fries topped off the meal. Gary took great care of us, we really enjoyed our lunch

Yelp
This local eatery has great staff and good food. Their cocktails are creative and yummy too! Thanks Cheyenne for the nice brunch!

Yelp
I visited this place 3 days ago , I had a shrimp pasta and ice tea. The pasta was under seasoned, no salt. I add pepper and salt and it was ok. Shrimp quality very good. Nice service and ambience. The portion was small and I paid $37.00 dollars. I will definitely give it another try.
google avatar

Sharon W.

Yelp
My search was for Oysters! Yelp didn't steer me wrong! LowTide was delicious! I enjoyed oysters & Corn Diggers while visiting with Bartender Cheyenne. Also ordered a charcuterie (to go). Love my lunch and will be back.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
We met up with some friends who wanted oysters... and they loved them! I'm not a raw oyster fan, but they said the raw oysters were really good and great prices. I had seafood tacos that were yummy. My husband ordered Martha & Mary Duo and he raved. This is a newer restaurant that could use some love! Definitely come for the crazy good happy hour oyster specials. Great drinks too. The service was also attentive but not too much.
google avatar

Teresa K.

Yelp
The desserts were good. The granny cake and chocolate cake were very sweet and decadent. If you like sweet deserts you'll love them. It took a really long time for the food to come out. We were there for over 2 hours. The gumbo was meh. The oyster nachos were meh. The entrees were ok. We had the scallops Benedict and the pancake and chicken. Pancake and chicken the pancakes were nice. The scallops Benedict the scallop tasted soapy which is indicative of wet scallops which is fine but I'm particularly sensitive to that. The eggs and the hollandaise on the scallop was good. The crawfish dip and the ceviche were very good. The ceviche I would come back for again. For the wait they comped 2 mimosas which were $1 each. Which was kind of laughable. We didn't expect a comp or anything but if it's $2, what's the point? I did appreciate the manager coming by to apologize for the wait time. He was very friendly and that customer service touch was nice.

Mia F.

Yelp
Great po-boy. Bread is outstanding. The crawfish and cheese dip was another great dish and the cocktails are creative, well made and reasonably priced. This place is a very good value. No reservation needed. Show em some love.
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
My parents and I visited on a Sunday for lunch. My Dad seemed to enjoy his hamburger and said the bread is really good. I had a veggie burger. The bread is indeed good. The waiter said it's challah bread. The fries are delicious and ample. I hope this place does well as there weren't many people during the lunch hour.
google avatar

Cass A.

Yelp
This place was wonderful!! I came on a weekday, so it wasn't that busy. The atmosphere was relaxing and I believe he was the manager, he was such a sweet guy. Would definitely come back and have the nachos. I wish there was more, but they were so good.
google avatar

Kim B.

Yelp
Easy and casual dining. Highly recommend the mussels, po boys, crab cake and blackened seafood dishes. Good prices on a decent wine list. Attentive service with a smile. Support local!
google avatar

Cristina B.

Yelp
The food was great! Went on Mother's day so they didn't have a full menu but will definitely be back to try other stuff! The staff was so nice and attentive. The fish and shrimp had so much flavor sooo good! The macaroni was devineeee!!!
google avatar

Gary C.

Yelp
What a surprise for Sunday Brunch! I went with a buddy and had the Crab-cake Benedict with a beachside Mule! I am very skeptical of "seafood" restaurants being initially from New Orleans. While seafood is the same, the taste I am familiar with is usually not the same, and my expectations are not usually met! This is not the case with Low Tide. For the Crab Cales to the beignets, I am delighted to have visited Low Tide today! You need to try it out, especially if your in the Spring Branch area.

Mattie M.

Yelp
Wow, what a hidden gem. Looking for something rather than the generic restaurants in the area when we stumbled across this place through this app! Let me tell you it did not disappoint. At first glance the outside looks like a typical restaurant by the sea all you need is a couple of seagulls in the background. You walk in and it's all shining and new. I swear I can still smell the new paint. Came during happy hour and we score with Gulf Oysters for $1! Yes please.. they were huuuge and so goood. Our waitress was very attentive and informative about menu items. Loved her dry sense of humor. Went with a couple of her recommendations. We shared the Mary and Martha Duo blackened tis' was a delight. The corny dogs (hush puppies) with their own butter is a "you should try"
google avatar

Genevieve H.

Yelp
We had my sister's graduation lunch here on 5/12/23, it was very nice and quiet but all loud like other restaurants. The atmosphere was chill and the greeter/waiter/bartender was awesome!! He was super sweet very nice and helpful and quick and made good recommendations. The hush puppies are to die for abs that sauce omg! I had the salmon plate with mushroom risotto and green beans. Very delicious and will definitely be back! Thank you!
google avatar

Saundra P.

Yelp
This place was good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't wonderfully delicious either. The staff was friendly and for a random lunch day I can't say I was disappointed. The place was clean and the service was fast. The hushpuppies are great though....we ordered two!
google avatar

Roosh W.

Yelp
We came here 20 minutes before they closed, and they sat us and took great care of us. Very nice folks. We had the Martha & Mary Duo and a bowl of chicken & sausage gumbo. Also had chargrilled oysters for an appetizers. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced ($50 for everything before tax and tip). We didn't get a drink, but their cocktail list looked good too. We look forward to returning.
google avatar

Susan L.

Yelp
They have an incredible cocktail called "Low Country". Soooo good! And the grilled oysters are amazing! Such a fun place! Neighborhood restaurant and bar!

Felicia T.

Yelp
Went here for the first time in march of this year! I loved the salmon & risotto and was dying to come back for it. ... came back here this past Sunday. And ordered the same thing for dinner.. and the risotto was not cooked. I'd prefer you let me know you ran out then to give me something raw. Its been a bad few days. I've had the runs for 3 days the first day I didn't think much of it bc my stomach didn't hurt but I been dying from pain the last 2 days and in sweats. I can barely manage to do my normal day to day thing as a mom of five.. have to say I will not be coming here again.
google avatar

Doug W.

Yelp
Food was ok. Portions were very large. My wife had the chicken sandwich, which I thought was nice and crispy but she was underwhelmed. I can't remember what I ordered (which tells you something). Daughters had a burger (she liked) and pasta (she liked, but wasn't anything special looking to me).
google avatar

Erik L.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! I highly recommend this place. The owner and her southern charm are amazing!

Mary S.

Yelp
Very good food. Our restaurant of choice for seafood fix, especially fried seafood. Nice atmosphere and friendly service.
google avatar

Sheri B.

Yelp
We saw this place opened in the Houston Chronicle and decided to pop in for lunch. OMG...DELISH! Gumbo was the bomb. Perfectly seasoned with the perfect amount of heat! My husband had the Sisters Fried Chicken and Mash. Chicken, gravy and sautéed veggies all wonderful. Definitely come again. Service was excellent as well

C R.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Easy parking. Mix of seafood and other items. Everything was house made including the sauces. Portions were large for the price as well. Would go back.

Todd L.

Yelp
Hidden gem. My husband and I live nearby and enjoy the seafood platter here. Drinks are tasty and pack a punch. The staff is really friendly! The sugar cane butter with the hush puppies is yummy!
google avatar

Terri H.

Yelp
I went to Low Tide with my family for Mother's Day. There was a bit of confusion. There was a flyer on the table stating that the price of the meal was $25. Yet the family was charged $45 each for the Mother's Day meal. I can't exactly say that the price of $45 matched the meal. The meal was okay but not worth the $45 charge.

Ken G.

Yelp
We had our first visit to Low Tide Kitchen & Bar for brunch. I got a Moon Landing Fish Sandwich (sans the bun) on top of a delightful bed of mixed greens salad. Patricia had the famous Lump Crab Cake Eggs Benedict on an English muffin. We also tasted the Ceviche with house made chips which just won a buckle at the Houston Rodeo. We finished with a slice of Granny Cake which is from a family recipe and contains coconut. We will be back soon to try other items on the menu. Thanks! Ken
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
We went for lunch the other day and loved it. There is a great selection of simple and popular foods from sandwiches to soups to seafood. The service was great and the manager came by the table to be sure all was good. We will go back. Try it!
google avatar

Brad W.

Yelp
My wife and I grabbed a quick lunch date. What a fantastic surprise. The food was fantastic, the service was very good, and the prices were reasonable for seafood. I highly recommend the shrimp burger and gumbo lunch combo.

Darian H.

Yelp
Shrimp Po Boy! A home run! As always, the staff were friendly and attentive. Food was great! Great evening out!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was amazing. We had lunch and of course ordered sea food. It was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
We were greeted immediately as we took the first step into the door. (Our body hasn't even passed the door frame yet). Devin, operation manager, sat us down told us they have crawfish. Bare in mind we didn't go for crawfish. Was not expecting to even eat crawfish. So being from Louisiana, I am very picky on my crawfish. I asked Devin if we could just get like 1 or 2 crawfish just to sample. She sure. She ended giving us a whole pound on the house! Then the owner Ally came out and asked us how are we doing and offered us the oysters happy hour that doesn't start til 4. The time we sat was at 2:50. Caleb was pur waiter and was very patient with us. We didn't know what to order since it was our first time there. All the food we got was absolutely delicious! I will tell you would go back just for the crawfish alone. The oysters and other entrees are just bonuses. Overall experience was amazing. Food was delicious! Staff was phenomenal!

Meg B.

Yelp
Only good things to say! We're definitely coming back, and soon! The shrimp tacos were amazing and the fries and fish were fresh and delicious.

Yelp
What a refreshing new restaurant in Spring Valley area! Seafood and burgers and amazing desserts. My 3rd visit since they opened and only wish I lived a bit closer!
