"Luca is the signature restaurant at The Guild, a new luxury hotel in downtown San Diego. The Mediterranean restaurant features a main dining room centered around an outdoor courtyard. Executive chef Justin Vaiciunas, a Detroit native, brings a diverse menu that includes seafood scramble, avocado toast, puffy tacos, and a Smoky the Bear wagyu blend burger for breakfast and lunch, and a variety of small plates and main courses for dinner. Desserts include fig panna cotta and carrot cake." - Candice Woo

Went for happy hour, stayed for dinner. The staff was very nice, and attentive. Happy hour had the guild old fashioned, house wine, or well drinks for for $5-6. The apps included a cheese board, Brussels, and other small snacks for $3-4 off the dinner menu price. For dinner we had A few things but the favorite was the scallops with brown butter sauce... portion was small... 2 scallops, but good! Would recommend coming after work for HH, and I bet you’ll end up staying for dinner, too! Love the open patio where you can see all of the surrounding buildings... neat!

This restaurant is located inside the courtyard of the Guild Hotel. Décor and ambience was wonderful and a great spot to enjoy a nice brunch outside. They offer breakfast, brunch/lunch and dinner service and we were here for breakfast. The menu is quite limited for breakfast with about 6 choices to choose from. We decided on the short rib hash and avocado toast. Avocado Toast: This is served on a single toasted piece of bread topped with a generous amount of avocado. Then it is topped with a citrus cherry tomato salad, quinoa and 2 poached eggs. The tomato salad added a nice citrus pop to the richness of the avocado and poached eggs. The quinoa provided a textural crunch to this dish. Eggs were perfectly poached with whites hardened and yolks still runny. Short Rib Hash: This dish was a bit greasy and underwhelming. This dish consists of fried nugget potatoes, caramelized onions, tiny portion of short rib, some sort of smash tomato sauce and poached eggs. Visually this was not appetizing and did not compare to the avocado toast. It took a while to find the short rib, it consist mainly of caramelized onions. Eggs were poached nicely but that's its only high point. Potatoes were just a tad under and the overall composition of the dish was just lack luster.

We’re staying at the Guild Hotel on a short vacation and ate breakfast here this morning. I’ll keep it short: the food quality is great here but our service was pretty poor. It took our server 10 minutes to address us and the place was nearly empty, we had to ask for butter for the toast, ask for more coffee, ask twice for a high chair for our infant son, he forgot our OJ, we ran out of sugar for the coffee, etc. *I probably would have given a better rating but this place is EXPENSIVE so I expect more. $17 for short rib omelette, $4 for coffee so at these prices their service ought to be spot on. It was not.

Located in the Guild Hotel. Decent food, but the service is spotty and slow. Seemed to be a management issue. Showed up at opening for breakfast with limited time before a meeting. Waited 15 minutes and had to walk around to find anyone working there. The only person working was the manager who was in the back chatting with the kitchen staff. Breakfast took another 20+ minutes. I was the only one in the restaurant. Dinner on other nights was similar with slower service, and wait staff who were hard to find to get an order in.

My husband and I celebrated Valentine’s Day. I had the Elegance - the dill poached salmon which was excellent. My husband had the Seduction - the pork tenderloin, all flavors were a perfect combination. We loved the ambiance, so we’ll definitely be back.

Amazing restaurant. I had breakfast here twice during my stay at the guild and the workers are extremely friendly, attentive and courteous. The beef hash is really really tasty. I would highly recommend coming here to eat.
