"Anyone who’s anyone around east London knows about Lucky & Joy’s sesame noodles. Within no time the Chinese-influenced restaurant, headed up in the kitchen by Ellen Parr, has become a part of the furniture on Lower Clapton Road. Their sweet, savoury, and spicy noodles have certainly helped this, along with regulars like grandma’s potatoes and those lusty turnip cakes. "The Chinese-influenced, neon-loving, sesame noodle spot in Clapton is open Monday to Wednesday for August. Their lunch bowls - red braised pork belly or fish fragrant aubergine - are under £5 with EOTHO discount, or come for a dinner and get a few other bits and bobs." - jake missing
"Lucky & Joy is one of those restaurants that leaves its menus on the table along with a pen, and says “go on, we dare you not to over order”. Happily, we never haven’t. And nor have we ever regretted it. That’s because this Chinese spot in Clapton is damn good. So good that we think about the sesame noodles day and night, and the turnip cake, or the sweet potato wontons, aren’t far behind. Open from Wednesday to Saturday, you can check their menu and ordering details via Instagram." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
