Yelp
Lucky Baldwins Pub - Trappiste Ale House is a great place to Drink, and to Eat - but it's also a great place to bring a date: because...
1). Lucky Baldwins feels more European than most other local Restaurant-Bars in Pasadena, or in any other part of LA.
2). Lucky Baldwins offers around 200 imported beers, and over 50 types of Scotch.
3). Lucky Baldwins has a pretty good Pub-Food menu, offering Fish & Chips, Meat Pies, English Curry, Bangers & Mash, Burgers, Calamari, Scotch Eggs, etc.
4). Lucky Baldwins doesn't blare TV shows like other bars.
5). Lucky Baldwins has a front patio, just like in Belgium.
I have been to Lucky Baldwins Pub - Trappiste Ale House many times, mostly to the branch in Sierra Madre, but also a few times in Pasadena. It has a good discount "Happy Hour" menu (Monday - Thursday from 2pm-6pm & again from 10pm-11pm), which makes it a great place to go Before seeing a movie with dinner planned for afterwards, OR a great place to go After seeing a movie if you already had a lite dinner before it and were craving a late night Ale & a good half-priced Pub Snack afterwards.
And unlike most pubs, Lucky Baldwins also offers a hearty English Breakfast (served on the weekends, Sat & Sun, 9am-12pm) offering eggs, beans, bangers, English Crumpets, & a rasher of bacon, plus more yummy stuff. In fact, most of the food here is British Pub-Grub, and not Belgian at all (Except for their strawberry & whipped cream covered Belgian Waffles). Lucky Baldwins even offers a Sunday Roast Beef feast British style (Beef Au Jus, Honey Glazed Carrots & Parsnips, Roasted Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding. - Sundays Only, From noon on).
But the Most unique menu offerings here are from the "Fido Menu", which lists two choices, both designed for Dogs, and both served in steel bowls to be placed on the ground next to your table. So if you don't come here with a human date, you can certainly come here with a Dog-Date. And I assure you - That date will end up going home with you.
