Best Dim Sum Restaurants in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Lucky Food opened on Clement Street in December 2024, serving a chorus of affordable phenoms on the same strip as main characters Wing Lee BBQ and Good Luck Dim Sum. The move is to get a big box of food for lunch: For less than $10 there are barbecue pork buns, sesame balls, and porridges, too." - Paolo Bicchieri

Lucky Food - Review - Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Lucky Food is a casual Chinese restaurant on Clement Street. There’s an AYCE deal for $20, or you can go for rice plates with BBQ, noodle soup, or porridge. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

Google
New spot for a lunch special. Comes with a bed of rice and 3 items. Since I came with other people, I was able to try a lot of the options. Most notable was the soft tofu and fish balls and the chicken curry. I like that there is a variety of vegetables. The special is a great amount of food. It is also nice that they have a dine in option which has been clean each time.

Google
8$ lunch ?? In this economy??? Really good value, cheap and fast eats. What I loved about this place vs similar places in Chinatown is that they have seating in the back under a nice sunlight!!! Still takeout only but you can just take ur container and eat in the back. It can be a little intimidating to order here but just point at stuff and you’ll be good. 😊

Google
Lunch specials. 3 entrances + rice = $8.50. This got to be the cheapest in the area. It’s traditional Chinese food. So most customers are Chinese. But, if you come with an open heart and open stomach. It may be a good surprise.

Google
Love the quality and authentic food here. $8.50 for 3 entrees +white rice is amazing. They also have smalller food items such as neef rice noodle roll, chicken skewers, limited dim sum selection and occasional bbq meats. Co-workers and myself have been hooked, coming here multiple times a week for lunch!

Barry Louie

Google
Ordinary taste with lots of volume. Chicken, fish, and chow mein. I give it 3.5 stars because this container of food cost me $10 during their grand opening special. Other than the volume of food nothing out of the ordinary.

Jonathon Paul

Google
Good value for money; chicken and fish entrees are basic but the food is fresh and the place very clean. Cash only so come prepared. Good service here.

Michael Maloney

Google
Bland and unappetizing food, with cheap and low quality ingredients. There’s a place with similar prices and higher quality food just a block west. If they don’t improve I give them 6 months before they go out of business.

Google
Was greeted by many friendly ladies. Very neighborhood vibe would come back again. Make sure to come with cash as its Cash Only.

Yelp
It's not easy finding cheap eats in San Francisco, but Lucky Eats does a great job in my opinion! They have a lot of meat, vegetable options with rice/noodles as well. You can get a plate of food for about ~$9, and the portions are pretty big. They also have some tables in the back where you can sit and eat at. If you don't have cash, they also take venmo!

Yelp
Sometimes the pick two items places give me a stomach ache and are greasy and customer service is unfriendly. Welcome to the inner Richmond! This is the cash only pick three items with steamed rice place you need at least once. For $8.50 yes, prices are going up, you get to pick your three items to be pilled onto rice. I had the eggplant as one item and it was cooked perfectly. I also had the fish with bin choy. The last item I had was green beans. Includes a napkin and fork. If you want chop sticks ask.

Yelp
No need for MSG if you can make delicious food. I got headaches for 2 days eating your food. yes, your food is affordable, but not sure what it'll do to our bodies pls make a change and more veggies please, most people now have high blood pressures

Yelp
A really great option for cheap eats! At $8.50 a plate (exc. tax), you can't beat it. You can choose either 2 items with noodles or fried rice, or 3 items with white rice. The food is hot and fresh, and tasty! They've got some limited seating in the back, but it's also great for takeout.

Yelp
Walked past this spot and decided to try it. At first glance, the prices got our attention for the 3 item special with rice, and the food looked decent through the window. Got the eggplant, chicken and mushroom, and fried fish with plain rice. We paid $9.20. Everything had good flavor, tasted fresh, and wasn't overly oily. But the entrees were definitely quite heavy on the corn starch, making it extra goopy. The scoops of entrees aren't as big as wing lee, but here you get 3 instead of 2 choices of entree for around same price, so it's a choice you can make for yourself. Service was quick and there's nice seating inside.

Yelp
Super quick and fresh 'this this rice' lots of selection, if you don't know what to get ask the ladies to suggest something based off why you want (chicken/pork/veg/fish etc) Nice well lit spot for a quick good value lunch under $11 (with rice) if you just want a box of protein, can find a pound for under $6

Yelp
They have really Good vegetarian options with the bean curd veggie wraps!! We are back again for the $8 meal deal for 3 items!! It's pretty darn good. I like the variety of hot food that they have. I get their lean pork patties, and the meat sauces go well with rice! Here, you can get a second taste of Chinatown if you miss it! The people are awesome too! There may be a line oftentimes, but it moves quickly.

Yelp
Tip: CASH ONLY All the food are premade. This used to be Taiwan Restaurant. They had been opened for two months. They are currently offering a grand opening 20% off discount. When we walked in, there was a short line. However, the line moves fairly quick. They change their selections of entrees everyday besides the basics like chow mein, chow fun, and rice noodles. We ordered different entrees to try. We got two orders of the three items over steamed rice for $8.00 each. The curry chicken, stuffed tofu, and fried shrimp were very tasty. The braised chicken feet was $6.50 per pound and they were very flavorful. The stuffed bean curd was $6.50 for four. The fillings were shredded carrots, black fungus, and vermicelli. They were just as good as the ones at the dim sum restaurants. The stuffed tofu was $6.50 for six pieces. The bbq pork chow mein was $4.99 a pound. They were just ok. They were stingy on the bbq pork and shredded carrots. I felt like I was paying only for noodles. The prices are fairly reasonable and the employees are friendly. I will definitely come back to try their turnip cakes, pumpkin cake, and other entrees. However, they ran out of some of the entrees when I got there. I guess I will try to go there earlier next time for more selections.

Yelp
Day 2 of the grand opening, congrats!! Quality/Quantity - We ordered for our guest a pound of each - Fried rice, chow mein, and the chicken entree. Thank you for "stuffing" the box. And rounding down the cost. Atmosphere - New business, where everything is brand new (sorry except the bathroom floors). It looked good overall. See pictures. One unisex restroom in the back. Plenty of tables, as 100% of the customers when we were here took their meals to-go (including us). Service - The owner and the team were very welcoming. And showed their appreciation by giving us extra food and rounding down the price. Price - $19 out the door. Inexpensive. Owner Comment - Congrats on your opening yesterday 12/19/24; wishing you the best. And when our guest tells us how good the food was, we will be sure to be regular customers.

Yelp
I left this draft sitting. I was a bit obsessed with this place. Their 3 items with rice is still $8. I'm totally lazy so not thinking about what to bring for lunch really gives my brain some R&R. I got two boxes. At the end of the day, there's nothing left. Don't go at the end of the day. I got chicken. Beef with green beans.chinese bean curd. My favorite: pork patty that nobody likes. Egg plant. I'm trying their daikon steamed cake in a foil container, $9. It was ok. They have frozen dumplings in their freezer, got to try them next time,

Yelp
Went to Lucky Food ( not the Supermarket) on Clement street. It was a lucky surprise to find this new place for Chinese fresh hot food BBQ and Dim Sum spot. It's the grand opening and the neighborhood seems excited about the place . I got the fish cake which was savory and the Chow Mein with the sticky rice very good. The food is delicious and fresh. I had to christen the new bathroom quickly. Lots of seating. Come to Clement and get a plate of food at this new Lucky place Were it has Chinese cuisine and dim sum along with fish paste

Yelp
Fast, friendly, clean, bright good variety food to eat in or take out. It's a Chinese Deli style food place. In addition to buying cooked foods. They have a freezer that sells frozen wonton, dumplings, marinated ribs or pork patties you can take home and steam or boil at home for a home cooked meal. Different flavors. Prices are posts in English and Chinese. I went at the end of the day and got fried wings and fried sardines. It was still tasty and crunchy at 6pm the other day! Yum!

Yelp
this is the best of Clement , they offer so many different fresh dishes with fresh ingredients that taste like home. Also so many different snacks, the photos here do not justice for this place. They also have indoor seating which is a plus. Hope they keep up the good work, this is the only place I go now.

Yelp
Great variety, decent quality, good taste at bargain prices! Can't complain at these prices! While it is a take out fast food from a hot table place similar to Panda Express, this one has "authentic" Chinese taste and a lot more choices, especially with fresh vegetable. Most important it's a family restaurant manned by the owner, Mrs. Wong, who often is serving customers herself! This tells you a lot about the restaurant's quality control when the owner is on site! Kudos to Mrs. Wong for serving the community with good food and great prices!

Yelp
Good value place with a sit down option. This is pretty much your standard pick your dishes with rice place. I was told that if I wanted chow fun, it would only be 2 dishes instead of the standard 3 for the discount price of $8. Decided to go with 3 dishes and white rice. Pretty tasty, on par with most other places like this. The ladies behind the counter were pretty friendly and helpful. Lots of seating in the back and the restroom was pretty clean. Very good value for the money, especially the opening price. Intrigued by the other specials on the menu (like the breakfast specials, porridge and all you can eat), would definitely come back.

Yelp
This has become one of my family's favorites. Such a good deal to get 2 items with fried rice/chow mein/chow fun or sticky rice, or 3 items with white rice for less than $10. It's 20% off since it's still new and cash only. The portions for the items isn't that big, but I enjoy the variety of options available like chicken on a skewer, green beans with veggies, etc. The sticky rice, fried rice, and chow mein are all really good so I recommend those instead of white rice. Last time, we got the sticky rice with fried chicken wings (came with 3 pieces) and bean curd (1 big piece).

Yelp
Very affordable to go food. There is minimal parking since it is in a busy section of Clement. they take cash only so come prepared. The best deal are the plates of rice or noodle with 2-3 sides.

Yelp
Give very small amount if you first go there!! Service is kind of rude too !! The flavor not good as well, too salty and everything kind of same flavor!!
google avatar

Paul H.

Yelp
Yummy eggplant, veggie, chow mein all for $8! Cash only. Not too sweet and not too salty. All good in the neighborhood!

mandy l.

Yelp
Food is good. Price is good. What gross me out is the lady that handling the food. She seems to love talking A LOT, and when she's talking/yelling, the foods are right below. Imaging eating her saliva on every single item, Please wear a mask if you are going to talk all day on top the food.

Yelp
Brand New Spot for Chinese Food on Clement St. Rotating Menu Everyday. I've Tried Almost Everything and it's on point.

Peter N.

Yelp
I came here today. I found out this place was new by walking by. I gave it a try. The food here is pretty good and service was fast. The bad thing about he is CASH ONLY. I could buy more if they take credit card!!!

Jerry C.

Yelp
A very affordable take out.The food is very good and currently 3 items over rice is only $8.00 for a limited time. Cash only.
