Overall, it's a lovely upper end place! My favorites here are all drinks. Do not skip out on the fresh takes on traditional cocktails! We spent $100 on drinks last we were here 😅! The appetizers we had left room to be desired flavor wise, but the entrees surely made up for it! I recommend the trout because the glaze is PERFECT! That plus a Miso Honey drink and no day is left horrible after that! Wonderful atmosphere with tasteful aesthetic and art. Cornbread The delicious butter saves this dish because otherwise, I just wouldn't eat it! Consistency is perfect with the bread it falls apart! Octopus The dish would've been perfect if the octopus meat itself had more flavor! Really fun spicy kick with a lovely presentation, tho! Octopus meat was cooked well, not chewy. Evacuate your Sleep Deliciously rich but not tart or dense Pillow Fight Soft and sweet flavor that comes slowly Miso Honey Lives up exactly to its name, dancing flavors that all show but none overpowering. Trout Incredible flavors, perfectly cooked, fell apart in my mouth and the GLAZE! Oh help me I need another one of these!

I have made "Lucky" a priority to visit every time I'm in Roanoke. The cocktails are amazing, and they make my very favorite drink of all time named 'date nite drama' which I wholeheartedly recommend to literally EVERYONE. The service is great, both personable and prompt. The food is also phenomenal. If you are in downtown Roanoke, and are vacillating between where you want to go, THIS is the place!

We had dinner at Lucky Restaurant in Roanoke for the first time and absolutely loved it. Right away, you can feel the passion and care that go into every part of this place. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food was full of unique and exciting flavors, and the cocktails — wow! The bartender looked like an alchemist or a magician. He asked me what kind of cocktail I liked, and then created something truly magical just for me. It was an unforgettable experience. I also have to mention the interior — the mix of colors and styles is beautiful and so well thought out. We had a fantastic evening and can’t wait to come back!

Google
Lucky is a fantastic restaurant for an exquisite bite to eat! The atmosphere, the drinks and especially the food continue to exceed my expectations. Locally sourced, absolutely delicious plates of food! I recently went for my birthday and can't wait to make another reservation and dine there again!

Google
Between the exception service and the home-good feel foods, this place is a 10 out of 10! I am surprised there isn't a michelin star here. The food and drinks are exceptional. Oyster happy hour with a chili paste. Meatloaf on the fries have brisket, pork shoulder, house bacon etc. The cocktail is a special called Lucky Cube! It is a word of mouth but worth it. Kent is a great bartender very knowledgeable!

Google
I try out restaurants over the valley all the time and I can honestly say I have never had such a wonderful experience. Food was the best I’ve had in a long time. Lately restaurant food around here has been too salty, flavor not great, etc. Food was amazing. Three of us shared. Pork chop, fried chicken and trout meals were all amazing. We shared 3 desserts and they were all delicious. Drinks were great. Loved the “blah blah blah” drink. Great service. I haven’t given a review like this in a long, long time.

We have dined at this establishment over the last few years. They have had their ups and downs pertaining to menu selections and quality. Although their drinks and bartenders have always been nothing less than A+. As of early 2024, their menu seems to be doing well. We had a range of appetizers and drinks that we were impressed with and enjoyed. We will continue to visit here from time to time and intend to improve & update this review of our next experience is as good as our last. Great potential to be the top spot in Roanoke. Martinis done right!

Google
The starters were great, if you like vinegar, the sprouts are the way to go. The mushroom cakes were Amazing! The lucky cube was really yummy, especially after the second bourbon.

Yelp
Great experience overall! We came on a Saturday and ordered a few appetizers and mains to share. Fried okra: crispy, light and delicious Octopus: the salad was spicy and octopus was tender and not chewy Cornbread: must try. The butter is amazing Pork chop: seasoning on the pork was so good and the sides paired really well. The meat was a tiny bit overcooked but flavor was great Fried chicken: the mashed potatoes and collard greens are done very well. Chicken was a bit dry and could've used more seasoning. I would pass on this one out of the ones we had Drinks: 10/10! We had two mocktails, both delicious. There was a bourbon cube drink that wasn't on the menu recommended by the server and it had a smoked ice cube with spices. If you like whisky, definitely ask for it Atmosphere was intimate and not too loud. It felt casual but nice at the same time. Service was great!

Yelp
This was one of my favorite restaurants when I reviewed it for the very first time, and I consider that review one of my best reviews ever, if not my very best. I encourage you to go back and read it if you have not yet done so. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided to return to dine here today and write a follow-up review of a restaurant which I consider one of those one of a kind gems of the Star City of Roanoke. I believe that their forte is above all their people, starting from their co-owners Hunter and JP who were the ones to come up with the idea for this brilliant establishment which has been in operation since November of 2010 and with the assistance of Head Chef Jeremy, whose culinary creative imagination comes up with seasonal menus creating culinary masterpieces out of items such as meatloaf and peanuts. I'll never forget the in-house peanut ice-cream which I had the first time I ate here. People like its bartender and co-owner Hunter who created its unique and popular cocktail The Cube, which is a blend of fresh juices and spices that pairs well with bourbon, and it's described as evolving and growing together with the spirit as it melts, and which by the way has never been on the menu but is known through word of mouth. And people like their hand picked servers who radiate quality customer service through their warmth and attention to detail. Lucky embodies high-end comfort food and craft cocktails into a truly unique dining experience. To give a simple example of their attention to detail, when I made my reservation this time, I included a note that I wished to dine at the same table I had last time I dined there. As soon as I arrived and mentioned my reservation time, the Host welcomed me by name, informed me that unfortunately the table that I had requested had already been taken, but there was another next to the window, or I could have the one next to the one where I sat before, or even one at their special front dining room. I ended up choosing the one next to where I had dined before because it provided a special view of the main dining room and of the bar. The Host then took me to my table, placed the menus on it, and mentioned that my server Brittany would be with me shortly. Just enough time after I had an opportunity to review the menus. A welcoming and very friendly young lady came by and introduced herself. She showed me where the Mocktails were on the menu and helped me pick the Yoda Yoda one. For dinner I went with the Restaurant Week 2025 Lucky Menu and picked as my first course and appetizer, the Rappahannock Oysters; as my second and main course, the NY Strip & Fries, and later I would pick as my third course and dessert, the Pot de Crème, a dark chocolate mousse with hubs peanuts and whipped cream. Everything was amazingly delicious and I received extraordinary service from my Server Brittany, who came to check on me at the appropriate times, as well as the Host who also came by to see if everything was to my satisfaction. The NY Strip Steak was humongous and tender. I invite you to view my photographs that accompany this review and see for yourselves, since a picture is worth a thousand words. Once again, I had an extraordinary dining experience in this cozy, little, restaurant. How lucky I feel to have discovered this restaurant when I did. Kirk Ave acquired a greater meaning after this. And the word Lucky acquired a greater significance. I highly recommend you take a drive over to this restaurant, alone or with family and friends. You'll discover for yourselves what the word Lucky is all about.

Yelp
I don't give this 5/5 lightly. This place is an absolute vibe. The pictures can't capture the ambiance at all. Moody, sophisticated, funky, divine, decadent, sexy? So good. Lots of vegetarian options that are unique, comforting, and filling. I honestly haven't seen such a diverse and simple menu in a long time. The cocktail menu leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Interesting, fun, deep, playful, and unique. Xoxo I'm falling HARD.

Yelp
Very quaint and hip at the same time. Service was very attentive and food was tasty. Not your average American fair this place had some interesting dishes and a great bar with a significant bourbon selection. Food was pretty good - oh yeah that's perfect. Had the fried chicken, shrimp and grits (a bit too salty) and the strip steak. Pretty good but couldn't finish it.

Yelp
It's always a pleasure when you return to a restaurant and find it better than you remember. This is the case for me with Lucky Our server couldn't have been nicer. Happy Hour specials were great. We loved the oysters and wine specials We look forward to a return visit

Yelp
Lucky is fun and fresh! We enjoyed appetizers and cocktails for our anniversary, and everything was awesome.

Yelp
Very good food! We had the delicious chicken and the wonderful pot pie, but before that oysters and the surprisingly delicious trout mousse. The service was very attentive and engaging. The pic reflects the warm and inviting atmosphere. Can't go wrong.

Yelp
Excellent drinks and amazing staff! Loved my experience here. The bartender was super friendly and gave me a list of great recommendations around town for things to do. They have a special bar menu and I enjoyed the cheeseburger.

Yelp
Still fabulous a year later. Excellence is all aspects; menu- wow, food quality- incredible, service- personal and attentive and friendly. Craft cocktails are incredible and fair in quantity. Ambiance is cozy and comfortable yet casual. Just love this place!

Yelp
Our experience at Lucky Restaurant was great. I had an amazing New York Strip and my wife had the fried chicken. Both excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing, comfortable, sophisticated but not conceited. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Our meal was wonderful, and the service was great. But, Lucky doesn't know what kind of restaurant it wants to be. Let's blame on it COVID fog, but when they "reimagined" the place, they messed-up big-time. Since then, they have been quietly reintroducing the old menu items, such as the fried chicken (which is great!). However, the place is still decorated like a cheap Asian restaurant. And when we were there, the music was straight out of a 1950's-themed diner. I made a reservation for Friday night the day-of. That used to be unthinkable for Lucky. It's time for them un-reimagine the place and restore it to its former glory. Replace the weird Asian-inspired art, bring back charcuterie boards, retain the great service, bar tenders and cocktails and, for God's sake, never lose the Cube. As for our meal, we did the pre fixe with wine pairing. The salad was perfect, the black-eyed pea fritters were delicious, the brussels sprouts were tangy and charred just right, the fried chicken was great, as always, the pork chop was delicious, and the wine pairings good. The food is great and, don't get me wrong, I like being able to get a reservation at the last minute, but I want Lucky to thrive. Figure out who you want to be and then be it. Just don't be that weird Asian fusion tapas thing you thought you wanted to be. That didn't work.

Yelp
Service was very friendly, ambiance was comfortable too. I loved the bar set up and they had a great menu. Best meatloaf I have ever had! Had a side of cornbread with honey butter that was to die for. Can't wait to come back and try something else...

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. My husband and I were driving through the area and stopped in. The ambience, service and food was outstanding. Our server Brittany was helpful in choosing our drinks and entrees. I got the whole trout -so delicious, flavorful and light. My husband got the pork shank- meat fell off the bone. Portions are satisfying. Brussels sprouts were the best we ever had. If in the area again will definitely stop in.
google avatar

Becky S.

Yelp
A colleague took a group of us including some out of town folks to Lucky's. Everything was delicious. I was with a bunch of sprout eaters who declared the Brussels were the best they ever had. I pronounced my intention to marry the sweet potatoes. I also enjoyed the fried chicken. Every time our friends come to town they talk about the Brussels. I highly recommend that you Marry. The. Sweet. Potatoes.

Yelp
Staff, ambience, cocktails, interior design all on point. Local food (bread served as an appetizer is from the bakery a block or two over - and it was friggin great! Especially with the honey butter Lucky served with it. Local, fresh ingredients. All food was excellent, except what I ordered for my entree. I ordered the Smoked Quail off the "bar" menu and I learned a lesson - smoking a bird that small is probably extremely hard to do bc the meat on this thing was dry and tough. And if I'm being honest, I've not had quail before, and I'm not sure if I like it. I didn't hate the flavor but it was very hard to know since it was similar to a smoked jerky on the bone, which wasn't easy to separate. The sauce served on the bird was lovely and saved it for me, otherwise it would've been entirely inedible. I'm sorry this wasn't a perfect 5-star review bc everything else was banging in a good way. I will definitely come back when I have a larger appetite bc I'm willing to give one of their standard entrees to redeem this place for me. Also, while you're here, get a cocktail! They have a creative menu, they make their syrups and bitters all in house, and they're just tasty! Cheers!!!

Yelp
We went to a Christmas here and it was wonderful!! The service was absolutely perfect. Everyone was friendly and cared that we had a great time. Everything from the atmosphere, food and drinks made for a memorable night!!

Yelp
We were gifted a $50 gift card to Lucky with the warning that it wouldn't get us (2 people) all that far at the notoriously pricey Lucky. We had a great time and made sure to research their offerings in advance as to not be taken aback by the pricing, portion sizes, etc. Our cocktails were delicious and featured local goodness and were definitely a summer treat. The servers did a great job of explaining the menu and cocktail concept, describing our dishes, and making recommendations. We enjoyed cocktails, the oysters (and especially loved the shakalaka topping), caprese (admittedly more of a greens-heavy salad than a true caprese, but still delicious!), short ribs, and the quail. Everything was balanced, well-seasoned and fun. My biggest tip for visiting Lucky: be prepared to treat yourself and approach it as an adventure, not your next stuff-yourself meal. I think there's something to be said for small plates. Are you really enjoying your 20th bite of ribeye and fried potatoes? By the point, I think taste leaves the building. We savored every bite of each plate at Lucky and, as farmers, are grateful for the farm sources listed at the bottom of the menu. Looking forward to returning the next time they have a menu change-up!

Yelp
Innovative, creative and delicious. What a find. We are in Roanoke one night and stumbled upon this place. My husband is vegan and I need good liquid and option. It's the perfect restaurant for us. I had raw oysters and shared the cashew nacho dip with root vegetable chips which was phenomenal and I could a meat every day. My main was the octopus and his the Lions mane which is a meaty mushroom dish which was also delicious coming from a meat eater. The other surprise is the vodka drink called Your Team inspired by the bar tender Steve's recent visit to Southeast Asia. Wow! One of the best vodka drinks I've ever had!

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had in recent years. We picked Lucky Restaurant after reviewing several menus for one night in Roanoke. We picked well. A great vibe, wonderful cocktails, and very good food. We entered to warm, interesting décor; a lovely bar, two-tops, and booth seating. Casual attire is fine; I wore khakis and a short sleeved button down, while my partner rocked a Jean jacket and black jeans. The wine list looked great -- some "local" favorites like Early Mountain -- but we went for some interesting and creative cocktails. The Yada Yada was a fantastic riff on a French 75. My two cocktails -- the Pear Skinned Rug and a tequila / habanero cocktail were stellar. As for food, the oysters were huge. Great champagne mignonette, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. My partner enjoyed 1/2 a dozen. The bread plate was lovely, with great tapenade and goat cheese. I got the blueberry and bacon salad; I was afraid the blue cheese would blow up my palate, but it was a wonderfully balanced start to the meal. As for mains, my partner elected to get the mussels -- another "small plate" that ate huge. There were easily two-dozen in her serving. My steak was fantastic; perfectly cooked with a great sear. Finally, our server Alyssa was attentive, lovely, and had great recommendations. She made the meal. A true joy. Put on your list for Roanoke.

Yelp
The service and atmosphere is AMAZING!! The tapas style was definitely sharing friendly. I enjoyed everything BUT the dessert. Would definitely return!

Yelp
Great experience from the time I called to book the reservation. They staff was pleasant and engaging. You have a choice if you like to share plates, which are one price or larger size at another price. I opted to taste 6 oysters which were fresh and accoutrements were tasty. I than had full portion of scallops which consisted of 4 nice size. It included pickled shrimps which were very good. Hubby had 1/2 plate of hanger steak cooked perfectly w fries. Topped off dinner with profiteroles which were stuffed w a delicious ice team n chocolate pieces. Great atmosphere n fun place

Yelp
Somehow my negative review was overwritten, hmm. The fall of a great restaurant. Once the best in Roanoke and my favorite, now diner quality inedible very poor quality and over priced with equally poor service. Look at the reviews. Went from five to three stars and over rated at three stars. Nobody's watching the quality and it shows. A real shame. I don't mind paying for top quality. I do mind paying gourmet prices for vending machine quality.

Yelp
We are new to town and Lucky was recommended by several people I've met so we went for date night. I was told about "the cube" so I had to order it. It is a large ice cube that has been made with what tasted like fruit juices and spices. Bourbon is poured over top and the flavors change as the cube melts. Fun! We ordered the ribeye and the pork chop. Both were good, but not great. The pork chop would have been better if it were less done. The ribeye had good flavor but it wasn't as tender as I expected for the price. I really enjoyed gathering vadauvan ketchup with the fries! The atmosphere and service were also good.

Evan P.

Yelp
Lucky's has a wonderful atmosphere with delicious craft cocktails at a reasonable price. Kent is and amazing mixologist that has a great memory for people and drinks! My wife and I are new to the area and have had best times at Lucky's thanks to the hospitality and friendliness of the bar staff.

Yelp
This place is a must go to. Go in and sit at the bar. Huge selection of bourbon and the tasting menus is amazing

Yelp
Chose Lucky thanks to Yelp reviews for a Saturday evening meal after a day touring Roanoke on foot. It was an easy walk from Hotel Roanoke and it was good that we had reservations as other people were waiting in line. We were pleasantly greeted and immediately taken to our table. Lucky has a big city feel, it's a bit noisy though tolerable and has a nice crowd. Our server was pleasant and brought our drinks, which were excellent, right away. My wife had the Caesar Salad and the pork shoulder. I had the Goat Cheese and Beet Salad with the scallops as an entree. We shared a large bread plate. The food was excellent; expertly prepared, and beautifully presented. Our waitress was attentive and brought us new silverware for each course. It was a flawless dining experience. I highly recommend the Lucky Restaurant.

Connie B.

Yelp
This was a fantastic restaurant in the heart of downtown Roanoke. I'd have to say the service was just as great as the delicious dishes! The small plates were a variety of unique ethnic cuisines. More than anything the dishes had so much thought and care put into them. With each dish that was served our servers explained in detail the elements that we could expect and the background of the dish. Do NOT miss out on the cornbread/blueberry/chicken dish - this was delicious!

Yelp
My hubby and I were looking for a nice dinner after a day of mountain biking. Lucky's was the most amazing restaurant i've been to in a long time. They were very covid attentive and very kind and I loved listening to our waiters stories (ok was evesdropping a bit). We didn't have to wait at all for the outside patio dining (inside closed on Thursday) and got us a very comfortable table. The guy who sat us down explained that if we didn't want the price fixe, we can always order a la carte. He gave us our own bottle of hand sanitizer, proper cutely stamped paper bags for our masks, paper menus and they changed our cutlery after each course. While I wasn't up for drinking, their patio drinks looked AMAZING and hubby greatly enjoyed his big lick beer. Now onto the food..... It was AMAZING and well worth the price. The quail really reminded of the traditional cooked pidgeon and was perfectly crispy on top of a bed of flavorful corn that hubby kept stealing. He got the beets which were also good in case there are some vegetarians out there. Second course I got crab cake and he got mussels. Holy moly was blown away again. The cake crab is like 90% crab on top of a refreshing bed of salad and good dip. The mussels....omg.... The broth made the dish. They offered me a second spoon and we drank up the broth. Third course was epiiiiccccc. I got the trout and hubby got the steak. Both were just so flavorful. Sadly enough, we had no room for dessert but I will be bugging hubby to bring me back to try out the peach cobbler and the really really unique ice cream flavors (strawberry and amaretto?? Buttermilk?? Peanut butter and rum??) Anyways EVERYONE please give this place a try and support them! They are very friendly and everyone can use an unforgettable, socially distant date night in these times.

Yelp
Extraordinary. Some of the best food and cocktails Roanoke has to offer. Make a reservation today.

Benjamin J.

Yelp
I've reviewed Lucky before, but I was recently moved to reiterate how AMAZING and GROUNDBREAKING Roanoke's Premier Restaurant and Mixologist Incubator truly is... After enjoying a truly overwhelming(ly positive) large birthday party experience at another of our local favs (Stock), a small group of our closest & oldest friends and family came to Lucky for afterparty snacks and drinks. OF COURSE several of us had "The Cube" a Signature Lucky Classic cocktail that uses a select bourbon shot poured over a cider & local herb-infused ice cube; that evolves over time as the cube melts into the bourbon. Pro-tip: Get a "re-pour" of bourbon when your drink gets shallow.  As always the wine selection is UNPARALLELED. I am never disappointed and often surprised by the mainstays and new wines from all over the world, INCLUDING high-quality Virginia Wines on occasion.  We needed a special late-evening snack, so we ordered several of the Roasted Marrow Bone appetizers. They were HUGE and so rich & creamy!!!!!! The salad included is always refreshing and a perfect green-note contrast to the literally melt-in-your-mouth roasted beef marrow, as well as the perfect accoutrement of thin crusty bread slices. But the secret highlight of this dish is the "Marrow Luge" or "Marrow Shot" after the delicate marrow is all consumed and a hollowed out beef bone remains; a bonding ritual where a trusted friend pours a full shot of your chosen bourbon down the bone hollow as you catch it in your mouth at the base. It's not extremely easy to pour the bourbon at the right rate and it's not always easy to drink it smoothly at the end. However, the flavor of aerated bourbon sliding down and absorbing the marrow juice on the way to your palate is SUBLIME and the experience of sharing it with a friend is a "Life Tile" for both of you.  Lucky (GOD BLESS Hunter, JP & Co.) has led the way for Roanoke's Restaurant & Cocktail Revolution for a very long time, and they remain the lead dog. Always innovating, always challenging themselves, always responding to the community, always delicious, always cozy and stylish. Lucky and its INCREDIBLE STAFF has become our "Go-To" for a consistently satisfying meal, a late-night cocktail, a wind-down drink at the end of a hard day, and a place "where everybody knows your name" when you walk in.  Rising Mixologists Taylor and Kenton are literal alchemists following in Hunter's line of Sorcerer's Apprentices at the bar. The kitchen staff know exactly what they are doing to make each dish memorable and delectable. The waitstaff is responsive, brilliant, and effortlessly graceful under pressure. The decor is impossible to pigeonhole yet opulent and relaxing at the same time.  JUST MAKE A RESERVATION & EXPERIENCE It FOR YOURSELVES, TONIGHT!!!!

Yelp
One of the easiest ways to annoy me as a restaurant customer is to tell me, in the midst of a half-empty restaurant, that they are "fully booked" for the next several hours. Gotta serve those invisible customers, apparently. I was hungry and this place had bar seating so I sat there, ate my meal and left. (Restaurant still half empty when I left by the way). So two stars off for being completely and utterly ridiculous. I ordered a decent Chardonnay, and the flounder, which would have been very good had it not been very unevenly cooked - part of it was scorching hot while the other was normal-warm. It's a disappointment because I walked half a mile from my hotel simply to visit this place due to the reviews and menu, but I guess you can't win 'em all. Maybe the invisible customers will have better luck.

Yelp
I'll start by giving credit to the Hostess, Mikaela. She took us to our table, and I asked for her recommendations. Mikaela provided details on all her favorites, and she is very knowledge of the menu and preparation. We took her advice on her suggestions, and they were fantastic! Mikaela is very personable, knowledgeable, and professional. The Managers are wasting her talents; she should be a Server. Now the food review: Appetizers: Virginia oysters: Rappahannock, Rochambeau, Olde Salt ($2.50/ea). The oysters are unique and range from "sweet" to "salty" depending upon the type. A definite MUST TRY! Salad: Goat Cheese and Beet Salad ($7). Walnuts and pickled beets give the salad a crunchy and zesty taste. Very good! Entree: Bass with Crab reduction ($21). It was a Special, but a well conceived Special. Good spices and perfect preparation. Great! Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($18). Crispy crust allows the chicken to remain juicy. Just the right amount of seasonings for this old Southern Favorite. Great! Server: Jeremiah was prompt, professional, courteous, and always carried a smile. Thank you Jeremiah! Atmosphere: The place is intimate with low lighting and quiet. Definitely a place to take a Date or when you want to impress someone. Overall: Lucky is located on a narrow, one-way street. There is a parking lot across from it, with minimum fees of $6 for 6 hours. Again, Mikaela made our experience extra special, and the food was fantastic. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Yelp
I was excited to try this place since my family raved about it. It was up to the expectations and great place to celebrate our March birthdays while we were in town. All the drinks are phenomenal and specialty made. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and provided good recommendations. Our group of 10 had multiple entrees and no one left disappointed. I would definitely visit again!

Yelp
Luckys has wonderful food and cocktails, as well a cool atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable!

Yelp
Steak was very undercooked however they made a new steak, the steak came when others were just finished eating. The staff were kind and accommodating, the waiter was very professional. Lucky is comfortable, somewhat upper scale without being stuffy.

Yelp
Drinks superb. Service superb. They serve Nespresso which is amazing. I had Asparagus soup since I want that hungry and it was delicious and hit the spot. Will come again when I am back in Roanoke.

Yelp
Unfortunately I was disappointed. I have lived in a Roanoke for about a year and I have been waiting to go to Lucky for a special occasion because everyone says how exclusive and intimate it is. I had a guest in from out of town and I thought it was the perfect reason to go! Needless to say, every part of the meal, including the interaction with the waitress, was sub par. Our waitress seemed like she might have been drunk, going through the motions, completely bored. Our reservation was at 8:30. It wasn't packed. It took almost 45 minutes to receive our dinner after we ordered. We ordered fish. It takes like 5 minutes to cook. The taste was bland! It was not worth the price we paid for our meal. We didn't want to waste more money on dessert so we walked to Sidecar and had dessert and drinks there. I will not return.

Mari F.

Yelp
First of all, if you plan on going here, make a reservation. It's a very small space. We lucked out and got there right when they opened and didn't have to wait. The mole gnocchi was superb! The mole sauce tasted very authentic. The steak was cooked to perfection and had great flavor. The fried chicken and kale was also a winning dish.

Yelp
My husband and I had the BEST experience at Lucky Restaurant. It's rare for us to go out to eat and genuinely enjoy the food and drinks across the board, but the guys and gals at Lucky are doing great things. Husband ordered a couple beers that were suggested to him and he enjoyed them both. I had a "tequila mule" that was to die for. They make all of their own syrups for the cocktails in house, which is so neat! There wasn't much in the way of dinner options for a non-meat eater like myself, but I was totally happy with my gnocchi dish. It was served with a mole sauce, which initially made me nervous to order because I haven't enjoyed mole that much in the past, but this was perfect. The flavors were just right and not too overwhelming. Husband gave the bone marrow appetizer a try and said it was really good! The service was just as great as the food! Everyone was so friendly and attentive- we really didn't want for anything. Our server let us know that Fortunato is Lucky's sister restaurant with an Italian flare, so we are definitely going to check it out next. Don't miss out on this spot!

Yelp
Wonderful dinner for my first time there. Had guests from out of town and the dinner and service were great! We had a 2 year old and were pleased to get a lobby table. We were very happy that we didn't get a drink spilled on our as our neighboring table did! Not sure the staff took care of them as they should have; a young couple on a date. They should have comp'd their dinner and really apologized and we didn't see it. I can imagine that once your losing it (your cool) it may be hard to get it back but the manager should have dealt with this better, that's his job.

Yelp
Fine food, great bar and smart staff make the Lucky Restaurant a must stop for anyone living or passing through Roanoke. Start with the bar. From here you can eat from the full menu or do what most do at a bar ... drink and talk. Drinking is easy as the bar favors a full selection of scotches, bourbons and other liquors useful for brewing crazy concoctions. Oh and Jackie, the bar tender can mix like no other! Man, I'm on a crazy diet such that I could drink but water yet I enjoyed 2 hours at the bar watching Jackie brew her manic potions. Laying about are vintage vinyl records. Those are actually cocktail menus! The dining is exquisite. I started with a Caesar and was amazed at first to see it was a true Caesar with anchovies at al! How long it's been since I have had that. Since I am on these awful diet I had to work the menu and asked for sea scallops to be added onto the Caesar. Perfect! My friend (not on a diet) drank three mixed drinks and ate the She Crab soup with a side salad. On my first visit, and not on a diet, I had the rib eye steak and a martinis. Oh how I recall that great night.

Yelp
I can't comment upon the food, as I did not eat here, but i will tell you this - I walked in this evening with my brother excited to get a bite to eat, when i was turned away by the hostess. Why? Not 100% sure, but, no lie, she looked at me and paused, then said the were no seats available, even though the were seats available at the bar, and open tables. I wasn't badly dressed - black slacks and a blue sweater, but I was wearing sneakers. I've been told I'm not bad looking, and I've got a graduate degree. My flaw? I'm dark skinned. Not African American, but a Mediterranean. SHE DID NOT LIKE THE WAY I LOOKED. AND YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. 0 She then suggested I go to Fortunato instead, like I belonged in an "Italian" restaurant.....Something is wrong here.....

Yelp
Lucky is simply the best place to go and Roanoke for a date night. The food is always of superb quality, and the drinks are sublime. The staff is super friendly and professional. It's a wonderful place to have in your pocket when you need a special night out with that special someone.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service...pricey but worth it. Had salads and small plates (scallops, duck breast, bread plate)....all delicious. Good wine list. A gem....not a big place... Come early or make reservations.

Yelp
This restaurant had such potential but it was a big let down. Our service was so incredibly slow. Other servers seemed more attentive and knowledgeable but ours, while nice, was lacking which impacted the entire experience. For an app and 2 entrees, we were there almost 2 hours and had to track down someone to get our bill. The food was meh at best and somewhat overpriced for what we received. The wine bottle was almost 4x the price from our grocery store (looked later). We were just visiting Roanoke, but if we ever return, I wouldn't go back to this restaurant.
