Lucky Time

I was thoroughly impressed with the food here. I love very spicy foods and not many can introduce the amount of heat I crave and not ruin the flavor of the cuisine. Well, this xtra spicy general chicken was not only one of the absolute best Chinese flavors I've had in this city but the heat was truly fantastic. I also got a SS chix and unlike many places in this cities history that use what seems to be a buffet quality ingredient list for the SS sauce. Lucky Time's has a lot of depth and a truly complex flavor that's not overly powerful and is well worth the visit on it's own. The rangoons & egg rolls are a couple things I'd say are average but decent for sure. All in all it wouldn't matter if they were N/A or blah because the dishes I had were so much more than just good that I couldn't even care. 6 stars

Heart and soul in every part of this restaurant, I started supporting this business after the news of Chavez came to light, I went to school with Chavez and while we basically we're no more than just teammates on a football team, his character shined so brightly and it reflects in his family and the care and effort they put into their establishment. The orange chicken combo is dare I say the best bang for your buck Chinese meal in Springfield. Not only is it the most delicious orange chicken you'll have with a hint of spice, the portions are MASSIVE. If you get the orange chicken combo, and extra side of rice, that's a big big meal for two people for just around $10 it is incredible. I love this place, they care, their family deserves the love cause of the love they put into it. If you're in town try them out!

The two plates I ordered were delicious. The General's Chicken and the beef and broccoli stir fry were excellent. That had to be some of the best General's Chicken I've had in recent memory. Seriously, it was crispy and saucy, and now I want more.

Pretty good food, cheap and decently tasty. Egg roll really not that good but other than that the chicken was pretty good. Good place for a quick cheap meal.

Might be my new number 2 favorite Chinese place in SGF. Number one on this side of town at least. Don’t hate me Cashew Station, you still hold down the south side. Lucky time is amazing. We finally got a chance to get take out from there and I don’t regret it. I got Orange Chicken because it’s either really good or really bad at most places. Let me tell you it was the best Orange Chicken I’ve ever had. Tasted VERY fresh with the orange, not just some dollar store orange juice. Oh and it was spicy. That was honestly a nice change of pace. Next time I’m going to have to get some General and check out that heat. My wife got Chicken Fried Rice and it was 3 meals worth. Nice balance of chicken to rice and no random chunks of onion like some others in town. It was the perfect texture, color and taste. The only thing that made me a bit disappointed was the Crab Rangoon. They left a lot to be desired with taste and inside consistency. Especially considering how flavorful the rest of our meal was. I’m going to chalk it up to a bad day and hope they’re better next time. Because let’s be honest, we will be back! I wish they were able to have a drive thru, but I obviously get that’s not possible at this location.

The food was fantastic! We had sweet-and-sour chicken and General’s chicken with fried rice. Both meals were very good and nice and hot, freshly made just for us! We also had some crab ragoons that were fantastic as well! The server was very friendly and did a great job helping us today! The restaurant was very well designed in an Asian theme, and very clean and organized! This was our first visit to this restaurant, and we certainly will be coming back for more! On a previous visit I thought the food was adequate, but I wasn’t nearly as impressed with it as my brother in law. However, on a recent return visit my opinion vastly improved. Though it isn’t a large establishment, we easily found seating for our group of 14. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The sweet and sour sauce was as good as anyone’s. The general sauce had a great flavor without being too spicy for my liking. The cheese Rangoon was warm and melty. The egg roll was crisp. And the fried rice was quite good.

I showed up at this place at like 2:30 on a random Sunday, and these folks provided me the best Chinese I've ever had in my entire life. Every piece of chicken was nice a juicy and tender, nice bite size pieces. The sauce had just enough spice to be delicious but not too much to be over whelming. The young lady working the register was super nice and the restaurant was clean and had a very chill vibe. Will be returning, thank you guys!

This was a pretty interesting spot. It seems like they deep fried almost all their dishes. The menu was super limited as well and they didn't offer the basics you will find in most Chinese restaurants, such as Kung Pao Chicken. I mean what Chinese Food place doesn't have Kung Pao Chicken? That's sort of like going to KFC and being told they only offer salads now. The place seemed a might dingy, bordering on dirty. The menu's needed to be wiped down. For a Chinese Food place I was kind of surprised to see the server was a gum snapping Caucasian girl as well. Not a Chinese person in the place. What I had wasn't terrible, but certainly this place did just not ring authentic to me. The best part of the visit was reading the sign across the street at the local church which read 'Route 66 ... One more 6 and we probably wouldn't like it so much. 10:30 Worship here/online'.

The menu is small and limited (as in no soup and minimal use of vegetables). However, I thought they did a pretty good job with what we tried - General Chicken with fried rice plus the optional combo (2 fried wontons and an egg roll). The batter on the chicken was crispy and the sauce was salty and not too sweet or gloopy. The wontons and egg roll were okay too. This would be a great choice for someone who doesn't like vegetables. As for me, the more vegetables the better so I would probably go elsewhere.

Heard about this place...so we finally tried it. Depending on the dish, the goodness was up and down: - fried dumplings: Nothing too special. The best thing was their dipping sauce. They're ok. - crab Rangoon: well on the sweet side...but these were very good as a whole. The wrapper to this and other however, has a bit of doughy bland taste. - egg roll: a "meh" thought when we all ate them. - sweet and sour chicken: sauce is ok...and it tastes just like Hong Kong Inn's sauce. Wonder if this person used to cook at Hong Kong? - hunan beef: This wasn't too bad at all...but it had about 80 pieces of green pepper...and then about 4 chestnuts. Not exactly the balanced ingredients you might expect. - cashew chicken: the sauce was pretty good. However, the chicken coating...something weird about it and it detracted from the dish. The lady serving wasn't exactly a warm and fuzzy server at all. And the place and its ambiance....has a certain dingy appearance to it. The front windows...about 800 fingerprints and a grease/fry haze on the inside - and a general full film diet on the outside. The lighting in the place is like police station interrogation lighting....changing the lighting alone and cleaning the windows would be a big help.

My entire family LOVED this place when we went there a week ago! Do you know how hard that is to get all 5 people not only to agree to a restaurant but that they actually all enjoyed it?!? The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was INCREDIBLE!!!!! Get as many of the appetizers as you can as they are delicious! Careful that you don't fill up on those though as the food portions are VERY generous and reasonably priced. The location is in the entryway of an old hotel and parking isn't great but it's always little places like this that are the best culinary experiences you'll have. Highly recommended!

We ate there today and the food was really good! I had the sweet and sour chicken with rice and 4 crab Rangoon. Very good.

Great food Fast service with a smile Traditional Chinese food restaurant atmosphere. Affordable pricing too. Easily my new go to spot.

The food was excellent, but basic. I guess that's why it's more affordable. The service was excellent and the waitress went out of her way to make sure that we were happy.

Best in the 417 even after 1 visit. Nestled right off the square in downtown Springfield, Lucky Time has great flavor across the board. I'm not sure it gets better than this in Springfield. I would consider myself a cashew chicken connoisseur, so next time you're in the neighborhood give it a shot!

The food is simple but delicious. We tried the generals and orange chicken. The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy but tender and juicy inside. Of the two I thought the orange chicken was a little more balanced from a sauce standpoint but both were terrific.

I'm not from Springfield so don't eat Chinese there often but I've had a decent Springfield style cashew at a few different spots. I've had Lucky twice now, and love it! I picked it up as I was leaving town last night and drove home 1.5 away and it was still delicious after sitting in styrofoam for that long. I am very picky about the quality of the chicken and I think this is at the top of my list for cashew chicken anywhere. And VERY reasonably priced!

Food was very delicious. Conveniently located and not overly busy at 2 pm. Service was great and a good value for the meal.

My sisters and I decided to have dinner here recently and it was very tasty! Everything was hot and made fresh and the service was excellent as well. The ambiance was definitely interesting but cool. Overall would visit again.

I've gotten takeout here a few times, and it's always been really good. Food is ready pretty quickly, and the person at the front desk is always nice. I usually get General Tso chicken, and I like how crispy and flavorful it is here. The crab Rangoon is also good, I just wish it had a spicy sauce to go with it (I usually dip it in the extra sauce from my chicken). The rice is good too. Lovely spot to eat!

One of the best American Chinese food spots in Springfield! My friends hyped me up about it for a while, and I finally went, and it lives up to the hype! Great flavor and great value

First timers here. Got take away, cashew chicken daily special and it was delicious! Love the sauce and the breading on the chicken. The fried rice was light and tasty! Waited just 7-8 minutes and my food was brought out and included extra rangoon as a thanks for my patience. Definitely found a new neighborhood favorite!

The General Tso Chicken is excellent in freshness, crispness and tastefulness ! A style of Asian Cooking so different from other restaurants in Springfield. It's centrally located in the downtown area, the lunch menu is so, so affordable and the owners are very nice ! The ambiance is modern and open, a perfect place for a large group for lunch or dinner ! The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly. A must try and definitely will be dining there again !

I had the cashew chicken lunch special. It was good! The service was friendly and quick and it is reasonably priced.

This place is fantastic. Quality chicken, flavorful sauces, delicious crab rangoons, quick service, cheap prices. One of my favorites and it's right downtown. Support this place--you won't regret it!

Great food great staff super clean and a pretty dining room. Waited 10 mins for a to go order they were quick and the food was piping hot which was awesome. Great place to eat some egg rolls, fried rice and cashew chicken. Will be coming back!
