We have gone for dinner six times since it opened, really wanting this place to be great. We have experienced moments of promise. But my wife has ordered, and recommended to our guests the shrimp and grits four times. The first time it was spectacular. The second time, the grits were old, dry and inedible. She politely told the waiter that the dish is so delicious, but to look at the grits. He seemed to acknowledge and then walk away, saying and doing nothing. We thought it odd, but moved on. Tonight, she and her dad ordered the dish. When delivered to the table, hers was wildly over-spiced and was even a darker color (see pic). She told the waitress, who went to the kitchen to ask about it and came back saying the two dishes were made in the same pan. We were stunned, because they clearly looked and tasted very different. The waitress offered to make her something else. She said she would really just like her choice done right… And the waitress left. I went to the front to ask if the chef would visit and tell us these two dishes were the same and were told he wasn’t in (on Friday at 6 pm). We were not difficult and tried to encourage them to simply discuss and make it right. But the rest of the night, the initially friendly waitress just came by to fill waters and mainly gave us the silent treatment. Later, the manager came by to offer us dessert. It was surprising in that he was the person at the host stand when I asked to speak with the chef and never offered that he was the manager. For what it’s worth, my mother-in-law said her salmon was among the best she’s ever had. This place has potential. But the food is wildly inconsistent and the staff doesn’t seem to know how to handle making it right for the guests.
