"This place is steeped in history! The ground floor of this listed building where Beethoven once lived now houses an inviting restaurant that exudes traditional charm. Diners come here to enjoy a contemporary take on regional fare, served by a friendly and attentive front-of-house team. Chef Andreas Spindler sets great store by the quality and freshness of the produce he uses in his dishes. Two set menus are proposed, and you also pick and mix their courses as you see fit. Tip: Don't miss out on the Austrian wines, which are also available by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

We had a wonderful meal. We chose the six course tasting menu and wine pairing, and could not have been happier. The wines were good, the food was great, and Oliver, as the owner of the restaurant was exceptional and making us feel welcome and special.

We stumbled upon Ludwig van after walking around the Nachsmarkt. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner - so we had a beer instead. Owner Oliver was great - showed us Beethoven’s apartment upstairs - shared his background. Sooooo - we came back for dinner. Michael was our server and was OUTstanding - Oliver came by and we picked up our great conversation. Interestingly, Chef Andreas is #70/100 best chefs in the world. The food was outstanding and we tried many new things - the wine pairings were a huge highlight as well. Will definitely return next time I’m back in Vienna! Cheers!!

An absolute stunner in terms of food and service. Warm welcome with a reserved table outside; excellent recommendation from sommelier on a local wine. We both chose two appetizers and were delighted with the quality and taste. The amuse buche was creative and delicious. I recommend wholeheartedly!

A delicious and cosy fine dining experience in the 6th district of Vienna. The food was tasty, well structured and presented and of high quality (the meat was extremely soft and it melted in the mouth). The knowledge of Olivier about the wines they offer is just top! 👍🏻 Service is very attentive and delicate. Higly recommended!

Expensive but worth every pfennig. Cozy and very friendly atmosphere. We had the tasting menu and everything was outstanding and on a par with the best restaurants anywhere. Although the staff were not at all intimidating, the view past my left thigh down the old well certainly was.

We had the tasting menu with the wine pairings and everything was absolutely delicious! Probably the best meal I’ve ever had, both in food and service. Each dish was creative and full of interesting combinations of ingredients without being prententious, ultimately creating absolutely delicious dishes. All of the meals and wine were explained and paired perfectly, and the owner was very friendly and shared his passion for food with us! Definitely expensive, but worth every penny for the high quality of food and service you receive. If I am ever in Vienna again I will definitely be making a reservation here again!

Our meal at Ludwig Van was absolutely the foodie highlight of our two week trip to central Europe. Fantastic cuisine was expertly paired with wines for each of our six courses from the tasting menu. We let the chef decide which courses to serve us (the "Carte Blanche" option) and each course was a delights. We also ordered the wine pairing for each course and the friendly and affable owner Oliver expertly chose each of the wines. The wine pairing was actually the most outstanding part of the whole meal. Oliver has a rare ability to perfectly match a wine with a flavor profile of any dish. Once you let him pair wines with your meal you may never want anyone else to do so! The whole meal was perfect and we may very well travel back to Vienna soon so that we can dine here once again.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant! The food is delicious and the wines offered are very good.- they beautifully compliment the food .Oliver Jauk, owner/host, is a real gentleman and has first class taste. If you find yourself in Vienna, don't miss this place!

Yelp
What an amazing end to a wonderful visit to Vienna. Oliver is a wonderful host. Definitely go and experience the 8 course menu with the wine pairing. Wonderful traditional Austrian cuisine but with a modern flare. Oliver does a magnificent job describing the wines and courses. Plan on a 3+ hour meal that is relaxing and enjoyable. You will feel like you've known the owner forever by the end of the evening. Passionate and genuine in his love for this cuisine and his country. Locally sourced ingredients. Seasonal elements as well. Highly recommended and definitely plan on returning on our next visit to Vienna!

Yelp
The best restaurant in Vienna so far! Amazing selection of Austrian wines with a high end food. We enjoyed full tasting menu along with unusual wines pairing. Finally, dessert pairing of natural champagne was something incredible! Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
This is the first Yelp review I've written, the food and hospitality were so good that I felt compelled to sign up and spread the word. My father and I dined here on our last night in Vienna, and what a way to end our trip! The food was creatively and thoughtfully done. You could tell that real care went into every aspect of getting the food to the table, from sourcing ingredients to preparation and presentation. Additionally, the sommelier was happy to converse with us about the bottle of blaufränkisch we had ordered, and even brought glasses from another vintage and maker for us to taste and compare. I couldn't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
My husband and I are in Vienna on our honeymoon, and chose this restaurant for dinner last night. It was the best dining experience I've ever had! We chose the 6 course meal, and every bite was wonderful! The man who served us (who may have been the owner and/or manager) offered perfect wine pairings for every course, and definitely played a major role in what was a magical evening. It was a meal that we'll never forget! Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Genuine Austrian restaurant. Quiet and comfortable. Friendly and quick service. The weinerschnizle filled the entire large plate....and was delicious. The beer in this country is excellent...and the tap here is no exception. There are no engligh menus if you need it, the waiter spoke a small amount of english.
