Ludwig's German Table - Review - Downtown - San Jose - The Infatuation

"The only thing better than a busy biergarten is a busy biergarten with excellent, bready German snacks. That’s exactly what you’ll find at Ludwig’s German Table, a Munich-style restaurant built into the historic music venue, Germania Hall. In addition to the requisite liters and boots of almost a dozen German lagers and pilsners, they’ve got a range of things to eat, from currywurst and sausage bites to elevated beer hall classics like spaetzle cheese croquettes. Make a reservation or risk waiting while the party goes on around you, especially during Oktoberfest." - Shoshi Parks

The Mac and cheese was amazing and it's a must try. I loved it. The pretzel balls in mushroom sauce were very good too. The sauce was rich and creamy. The pretzel we got from the appetizer menu was so soft and warm. As per my German friend, the vegetarian dishes we had here are very authentic. You have great beer options here.

Great beer garden with delicious, super light and flavorful German beers! nice shared table policy, and they accept dogs in the beer garden. The food is also delicious. The only thing I missed was a "sausage board" of some kind.

Had the Jager schnitzel and a cherry cider, they went really well together. The mushroom sauce was just about perfect. Followed up with an apple strudel for dessert. It was so much food and so good. The waiter, Anders I believe, was very friendly and came by frequently to check on everyone. Plenty of outdoor seating. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Last Friday, I tried this place, and I had the most beautiful time and service there! I didn't make a reservation, so they only have tables in the restaurant area, but I didn't mind, and let me tell you, the restaurant area (upstairs) atmosphere is lovely! The decoration, attention to detail, and services are more than friendly -you feel special (as you should) there. I enjoyed: - Jager Fries (creamy mushroom sauce, baked with gruyere cheese- Cheese Croquettes (spicy lingonberry aioli) - Sausage bites - Sausage Plate (comes with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut) - Apfelstrudel If you want to have a great time with friends, family, or yourself, go for it!

Love this place and come regularly. The food is great and flavorful. The beer selection is smaller than other places but everyone I’ve tried has been very good quality. I recommend the pretzel, the vegan option, and the curryworst. All high quality and great flavors. Must stop. It is also dog friendly!

I came here with high hopes for the food and beer and I can say with 100% honesty that this is one of the most authentic German experiences I've ever had outside of actually being in Germany. The food was excellent, the beers served in the correct glassware, and the atmosphere was welcoming thanks to the owner's friendly attitude and attention to his patrons. I'd give Ludwig's 6 stars if I could.

We visited today for the first time and were not disappointed! The draft beers were fresh and cold, the pretzels perfectly made and the sausages delicious! They are very COVID-19 conscious/safe, have hand sanitizer readily available for you at the table and no-contact menu/ordering/payment. We were served quickly, the food was very fresh and the service was amazing! We would definitely return!

Great authentic German food and drink. The placemat even came from Germany! I had the pork schnitzel my husband had the chicken schnitzel schnitzel and my son had the hamburger. The potato salad was real German potato salad. The cucumber salad was delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere with a casual setting. Outdoor seating with heaters on the patio.
