I really hesitated with putting this on here, but the more I thought about it, it needed to be said. We tried Luigi's on Del Prado after learning that Lucianos Too had closed. We had an excellent experience, and the food was exceptional. We were so excited that we asked 4 of our friends to join us this past weekend for dinner there again. The service to begin with was less than satisfactory, my husband and I split our meals and we ordered a caesar salad and our entree. Upon finishing my salad I recognized a large white object, about 2'x2" covered with dressing of course, that I could not stab with my fork, so thinking it was a fabulous piece of parmesan cheese I grabbed my knife to cut it, to no avail. I then, pushed my plate over to my friend and asked her what this was, and she replied, "that's a napkin". I immediately grabbed the plate and headed to the counter where our lack luster waitress tried to retrieve the plate after I asked if she could explain the napkin in my salad, she then pointed me to Luigi. Now, I was very calm, and simply asked how a napkin was mixed into my salad. He took the plate and offered to make me a new salad of which I graciously stated no thank you. I am not gonna lie I pretty much cost my appetite at that point as I thought about "the napkin" and how it got in my salad. During the time we were served our entrees, our service continued to get worse, not checking for refills on drinks, etc... the waitress brought our bills, and as she sets ours down she makes the comment, "Oh wait I will take the salad off your bill". Wow really? You did not think to do this? It left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended) , so upon exiting the restaurant, I nicely asked Luigi if I could speak with him. He proceeded to tell me in a firm manner that "things happen and restaurants are having hard times, I will not speak further and have a nice evening". Literally that was his response. Needless to say, there are plenty of good Italian restaurants in the area that I am sure we can patronize and hopefully have a bit more respect for the clientele. Luigis will not get my business nor my referral.
