This was our first time at Luigi's, and we really had a nice experience. The food was delicious and service was perfect. The interior of the restaurant is really cool with lots of pictures all over the walls. We went there for lunch. My grandson had the monte burger with homemade lemonade that was delicious. I had the small Giovanni gourmet salad, so yummy. Next time we go, we plan to try some pasta dishes.

Google
10/10, this was an amazing last minute find for us! We were on a roadtrip passing through Bakersfield and desperately needed a place to stop for dinner. We looked this up, and confirmed with family that lives there that this is a staple here. I have not eaten Italian food this good ever. The service was great, everyone was incredibly nice. I was so satisfied with my meal, by the time we made it home I was already missing this food. We also tried the olive oil cake and took some home, keeps very well. If you have to eat anywhere in or near Bakersfield, this is the spot!

This is one of the best places I have ever eaten! If you are anywhere close to this area you owe it to yourself to stop by! You won’t be disappointed.

Luigi’s is an awesome Bakersfield establishment with over 115 years of history. If you’re planning on dining here, make reservations or come before 11am. Huge restaurant that fills up very quickly. The patio is a great place to hang out on a pleasant day. Try the daily specials. My favorite is Thursday the Italian Dip. Divine.

Got the monte burger, I give it 3/5. It was alright, I wouldn’t order it again. I feel like it just lacked taste. I haven’t had the chance to try other items but would come back again just for the vibes.

Yummy Yummy Yummy!!! Went to have lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was definitely busy and we had to wait about 45 minutes but once we were seated, the food was absolutely delicious and well worth the wait.

Darian was our server. He was very attentive and great customer service. Everyone employee there looked out for each other and the prices weren't expensive like I thought.I definitely will be coming back.

First of all if you are planning on enjoying this restaurant during a weekend day please reserve as delays are usually very long. We ordered a New york stake, green/white pastas and a side salad. We also ordered some a ravioli plate. They start you off with some very plain sourdough.. and no oils or sauces to start with. I was told some simple olive oil for my appetizer was extra cost. The steak was completely burnt even though I had ordered it as medium-well. The seasoning was great I have to say but the meat was just to burnt. Our pastas where delicious. Overall we liked it but it wasn't what we expected. I will be coming back to try a different dish.

Yelp
Luigi's is probably the top restaurant in Bakersfield. I can't think of anything that comes close. I've had multiple things across the menu and nothing has disappointed thus far. The wait tends to be quite long and to any new patron that should be a good sign. Kill time and sit by their bar inside and outside! The drink costs aren't crazy and they work very quickly. The staff is very helpful and they're very open to customizing your experience. They'll even tell you the best way to do it. You'll see the many ways I've customized my meals both below and in my photos! Nicco's Steak and Pasta - I get this glorious slab of steak probably a third of the times I visit. Most of the time they are done to my particular liking with one instance where I considered it overdone. For a few bucks extra they can add some gorgonzola cheese melted on top of the steak for more savor. As with all the dishes you can even swap out the pasta! Truffle Sacchetti - Heavy flavor bombs. If you're getting this you'd need to some bread to scoop up oil and clean up your plate cause it's just that good. On the expensive side as far as pastas go, plus it doesn't have any protein. I recommend getting this as a side to your meals instead of getting it by itself. Ribs - A special on the weekends. I think this is the greatest bang for your buck. They offer a half rack and a full rack for $10 more. I gotta tell ya, you'd have to be crazy hungry to finish a full rack. If you find that the ribs are lacking in flavor, I highly suggest asking for some barbecue sauce and they will happily give it to you for no extra charge. The sauce is sweet and tangy just like typical barbecue sauces. Lasagna - Another special. Something about this is just so good. Great amount of ricotta, humongous serving, enough to share or even take home. The sandwiches in general are all pretty good, I've tried a few of them but I think the selections above are what makes this place special. Every single one of my meals here are memorable and you can tell other locals feel the same way judging by how busy this place is every day! Want anything they serve at the comfort of your home? Stop by their deli! Has most of the menu right there along with an awesome wine cellar!

Yelp
What a disappointment!! I wanted to love this place when I heard it was a family run authentic restaurant. I was so excited to try it. Unfortunately it couldn't be farther from authentic. The bolognese was like meat water , the white pasta was plain noodles with zero flavor and the beef dip tasted like something you'd get from a cheesy diner. Maybe a good place to go for some appetizers and drinks as the ambiance is cute but don't go here expecting good Italian food. I can't believe it has as many good reviews as it does. People in Bakersfield must not know good Italian food.

Yelp
Food is just amazingly simple and fabulously good - just the way Italian food should be!! Service is always great! Do not miss the opportunity to hit Luigi's!

Yelp

Yelp
So good! If you are traveling through Bakersfield treat yourself for a stop at Luigi's. Either dine in or takeout. Old school Bakersfield classic. You'll be surprised at how many people go there. Might have to wait in line. Get yourself some Luigi's seasoning, you'll be happy you did!

Yelp
Just a quick review update! Luigi's continues to give great service and delicious meals! On my most recent trip I decided to try the hot pastrami sandwich. It was delicious! My friend had a stuffed shell Florentine and a watermelon salad. Everything was delicious as always!

Yelp
Came for lunch on a Friday, it was packed. Luckily I found two seats in the bar while we waited. I ordered a drink and conversed it up. The time came to get seated, we chose a sit on the patio. Finished our drinks and ordered another. The service was great, especially on this busy day. We ordered the filet w/the red n white. We love Luigi's their big patio with misters and trees to cool you down in hot Bakersfield.

Yelp
Luigis is Bakersfield famous! It's such a staple that our family braved standing in line on their busiest day of the year (the Saturday before Christmas) for lunch here. Reservations/Walk-Ins: They do take reservations but they can be difficult to get and must be booked far in advance. Since we had missed the reservation window, we came early to stand in line to get our name on the walk-in list. We were advised that anyone in the line at opening would get to eat there, but the wait time would vary. We arrived around 10:15am and the line was already around the block. A little before 11am, they started to seat guests and take names for the waitlist. We were quoted 2-2.5 hours. We decided to grab a drink at the Padre nearby rather than go home, which ended up being key. Stay close by in the area. We were called around 1.25 hours after we checked in. They give you 5 minutes to arrive. Atmosphere: Luigis is a lively spot! There were so many folks celebrating the holidays. We saw a table full of santas and a large group that took over almost the entire main dining room the long way! This is the spot to gather with friends, do some day drink and dig into good food. If you're looking for a quiet meal, this isn't the place for you. Food: The food is simple but delicious! I got the sandwich and pasta combo, which I think is absolutely the way to go. The sandwich was a nice cold cut italian and I enjoyed the pasta with red sauce. My father in law got a juicy steak sandwich. Everyone who took a bite of it immediately wished they had gotten it because of how soft and tender the meat was. We had to finish off the meal with a butterfinger pie! Store: If one meal isn't enough to get your fix, there is a grocery store next door where they sell their pastas and jarred sauces to take home! Luigis is a must try experience in Bakersfield. As long as you come in with a patient mindset, you'll have a great time!

Yelp
I went to a beautiful memorial for a close friend at the Luigi's warehouse. They're must of been 200 in attendance. Luigi's was the perfect venue, a elaborate appetizer table was set up with all your favorite Italian delights. Friendly Luigi's servers were busy with trays of a variety of delicious hors d' oeuvre's. Comfortable table seating and standup tables it was perfect. Luigi's meets all your needs. The classic bar was busy, staffed by friendly mixologist's no waiting for your favorite libations. Luigi's has it down very comfortable, excellent food, wonderful staff, super place for your occasion.

Yelp
Luigis is a staple in Old Town Kerns, Bakersfield. My broworker's Nona approves so I know Luigis is as authentic as it gets without flying to Italy. Reservations highly recommended, they were pretty busy when we came by for lunch on a Wednesday. The weather was lovely so we decided to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine. Cassie took great care of us the whole time we were there. The menu was glorious with so many delicious options to pick from. My bro boss ordered their Truffle App ($17.50/small) for the four of us to share. It comes with a sliced loaf of sourdough for you to dip into the delicious sauce. This truffle app is like glorious pasta truffle purses. SO DELICIOUS. As for our entrees, I focused on the lunch specials to help myself narrow things down. I decided on their half order of Lasagna ($13.75) and my broworkers all got their Cole's Steak Sandwich ($24.95/each) which comes with thinly sliced ny steak with grilled onions and pepperjack cheese in a toasted soft roll. Okay okay maybe I should have confirmed and gotten that too, but my lasagna was really delicious. The half portion was still a mighty size and I easily got food coma after my meal. It was a good thing they had a cute gift shop with Italian imports as well as local Bakersfield goods for purchase. We picked out some thoughtful gifts to make gift baskets for our clients. I really love the family-vibes I get from the business both on the restaurant side and the giftshop side. I know this will be my first of many many visits to Luigis. I am definitely a fan and looking forward to coming back to try more of their menu.

Yelp
We went for lunch. The food was really good and fresh. Service was the best. Our drinks were refilled before we even got halfway through and our waitress checked on us regularly. The inside is so fun with pictures all over the walls. A very fun place to eat with delicious food. I just had a small, salad and my grandson had a burger. Next time, we will have to try the pasta!

Yelp
Best Italian spot ever in Bako! Really love this place. It's a hidden gem. We love that's it's so old but so traditional and authentic with old menu items and favorites.

Yelp
For being born and raised in Bakersfield, I'm pissed that I have never been here previously in my 31 years of living. After eyeballing this place for awhile, I finally made it to their lunch. This place is insanely so good! I can defenitly see why they have been around for so long as a Bakersfield staple on Italian food. Located in the Old Town Kern area, you will find them tucked away on E 19th st right on the corner. I have heard from my employees how amazing this joint is so I had come give them a try. Stopped by with my wife for lunch and we shared a large pasta bolganese and the Luigi's sandwich. The bolognese was insanely good and perhaps one of the best I have ever had. My wife isn't reallly into meat sauces but SHE LOVED THIS ONE. The Luigi's sandwich is also very good and the ingredients are of quality and so fresh! Honestly our lunch was a 10/10. To top it off, our server was incredibly kind and very good at his job! He kept making reccomendations and checking on us and we really appreciated that. Overall we can't wait to come back. Make sure to check them out if you haven't already, you won't regret coming by that's for sure.

Yelp
Food was average, small portions for price. Service average, nice ambience, didn't care for family sitting.

Yelp
Always fun eating here with my friends. Especially since I don't live in Bakersfield any longer. It's now a special treat when I visit. This was my first time trying the tip-tip sandwich. Meat was tender. Also had the purse pasta. Delicious! Even though they are usually busy the staff is always attentive and food comes out in a decent time. Love eating on the patio. So pretty!
google avatar

Yelp
It is warm and inviting. Dean Martin, Nat King Cole playing in the background. The staff is super friendly and the service is great. I saved the best for last.... The food is fabulous! I come up from Orange County to visit family an we have to come here!
google avatar

Yelp
What's not to love about this place?! The food, the atmosphere, the customer service, drinks and deli/gift shop...truly a one stop shop!! My family, friends, and I come here to celebrate special occasions or when we are just looking to have a great afternoon! My absolute favorite is the Truffle Sachetti (Truffle purse pasta)! It can be eaten as an appetizer or entree'! They switch I it the specials daily/weekly, and their Italiano plates very from daily/weekly as well. I couldn't recommend this place more! Love it here!

Yelp
Food was fantastic! Service was excellent, they go it us in way under the time quoted, which is awesome considering it was Mothers Day weekend!

Yelp
We were on our way back to LA from Fresno, and for some reason, our conversation turned to sandwiches. Different kinds of sandwiches we like, why we like them, especially the ones where the lettuce is shredded, and honestly, does Subway even do their 6 ft party sandwiches anymore? Probably not since COVID. ANYWHO. At this point in the conversation, I was really craving a good deli sandwich. We were close to Bakersfield, so my partner found this place, then proceeded to read all of the reviews, which were raving. Done deal. We arrived on a Friday afternoon in the middle of the heat wave that has been sweeping through central CA, and the temperature was somewhere in the neighborhood of, oh, 112 degrees or so. There is a small parking lot next to their "warehouse" (which looks like a space for special events and such - when I poked my head in confusedly, it seemed they were setting up for a banquet or a wedding). You can park there. Others have said that the parking situation could be dicey, but it was fine when we went. So, there is the restaurant, and there is the market that is attached. The restaurant closes at 2:30pm, the market closes at 4pm (this is a confusing discrepancy between the hours on Yelp and the hours on Google). The market is small and cute, and has a whole counter of meats that you can order by the pound. We headed into the restaurant, and despite the fact that it was already past 2pm (within a half hour of their closing time), they said nothing about that and seated us right away. The interior is very old school Italian American, with the red and white checkered tablecloths and all sorts of news articles, photos, pictures, etc over the walls. Completely family owned - their menu features the story of the restaurant, which was a cute and fun read. We ordered a Luigi's sandwich (for me), and a little gem salad (for my partner). Both were SO good. The salad dressing was light and refreshing, and the sandwich completely hit the spot. Just a very solid deli sandwich, and exactly what I was looking for. Our server, Melody, was sweet and friendly, and even though they were about to close, we didn't feel rushed at all. Wonderful little stop on our road trip.

Yelp
The espresso martini is amazing. There are too many amazing, unique items on their food menu to list here, just go. A Bakersfield gem.
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
People rave about this place and it has been hit or miss for me at lunch. I am not a fan of there spaghetti but the sandwiches are on point. The place will be busy. Parking is available in a small parking lot. What I do adore are there banquets. This place can do it right. Went to a fundraiser and the food kept coming out everything better than the last. The market is an awesome find. You can buy pasta to make at home.
google avatar

Cristina D.

Yelp
Came here for lunch so kept the order light and simple. On this day, I can't comment much on the food except as always. the service was stellar. Of course, everyone who's from Bakersfield knows that besides the food, you come here for the ambiance. Without prior reservation, I was able to get a big table in the patio for our party.
google avatar

kat c.

Yelp
Amazing food! The patio is adorable and the service was great! You can't beat a place with this kind of history.
google avatar

Brandon V.

Yelp
Made reservations for 11, showed up at 11:06 on the dot (at the hostess stand). They gave our table away at 11:05. Zero tolerance I suppose. Was there on time actually, however their parking situation is pretty rough and took forever to find a parking spot. I suppose they don't take that into consideration. Won't be back. Been going there for 15 years. They are super busy so they won't miss the business and I won't miss the hassle of driving across town. You'd think a small business would have some kind of grace, heck even nice steak houses offer 15 minutes. I guess since they are so busy they don't care? Sad.
google avatar

Brandon B.

Yelp
The food was bomb. I had a steak sandwich off of their Wednesday special. It was amazing! Their service was the best I've ever seen! I understood why it was packed. It has an old school vibe which I liked because it made me feel like home.
google avatar

Elissa R.

Yelp
My husband and I had had lunch at Luigi's for the first time today. We waited for about 30 minutes for a table The atmosphere is casual, cramped, and busy; but patron's attire ranged from dressed up for five-star diving to casual t-shirts. The service was fine. My husband ordered the Italian beef sandwich and it was delicious while I had the white pasta with chicken, which was also delicious albeit simple. I also ordered the coffee ice cream pie, which was light but filling and a cappuccino, that the waitress initially forgot, but promptly brought when reminded. Overall, a good experience and we would definitely return.
google avatar

B B.

Yelp
What's not to like at Luigi's, other than not being open for dinner! Always crowded for a reason with excellent food and always good service. Lively inside and more chill on the patio with nice seating options. Be prepared to wait if you come after opening.

Dre B.

Yelp
Luigis is a iconic family restaurant and Bar locally owned. It is where everyone goes for special occasions or to meet up with family and friends for good food and excellent customer service. This past Saturday, they hosted a celebration of life for my stepfather. It was spectacular. Liz was incredible to work with from the very beginning, and Noah ran everything so perfectly on the day of the celebration. We highly recommend having them host any special event for you. You will not beat the atmosphere the food or the customer service! Thank you Luigis for representing Bakersfield so well!

Yelp
My favorite place for a steak in town. The filet and pasta is amazing every time. The appetizers never let you down. Staff is very friendly.

Yelp
Luigi's, Luigi's I love! We love, we go all the time. If I don't go once a month I'll perish. Everything is good. Ev er ry thing . I go with friends and we drink and laugh and eat and have the most wonderful time. The staff is AMAZING!!! They are the most friendly and awesome people because you can tell they love their jobs! The building is old but comfy, the outside is adorable with plenty of misting fans and umbrellas. I love Luigi's, we love Luigi's.

Yelp
Luigi's is one of our favorite lunch spots in town and one of the places we recommend the most to people visiting! The restaurant makes you feel at home and comfortable whether you are sitting inside or on the patio. It is a great place for the family, a date, or even a business lunch! Service is always great at Luigi's as well. Our favorite item on the menu by far is the truffle sacchetti it is absolutely delicious. We also love to order the filet or if we come on a Tuesday we like the prime rib special as well. Don't forget the butterfinger pie to end your meal as well! We love Luigi's and will continue to return.
google avatar

Miriam B.

Yelp
That place is always busy and loud but their food is divine and the service was great! We had Truffle Sacchetti's and they are always so yummy and decadent! That's really the only thing I eat there when we ever go. I definitely recommend the wait to eat here.

Yelp
Great place ambiance, service and food was amazing! Reservations are an easy way to ensure you can get in. Otherwise show up early at opening!

Yelp
Italian beef dip on Thursday. Simply the best dipped sandwich in town. I was always just meh on this place until I found the beef dip special and now I cant stop thinking bout it and how soon I will be downtown for lunch again on a Thursday.. Full of meat and packed with flavor..
google avatar

Mike Z.

Yelp
This is really a review for the deli side. the store is full of all kinds of good things from their sauces and pastas to imported items. There is a full deli counter with meats and cheeses as well as some pre-sliced items like dry Jack cheese. Grab a basket and fill it up. I got meat sauce, beans, Sacco beans, and white pasta sauce. Wish they retailed Pyrenees loads, but the bakery is only a couple of blocks away.
google avatar

Hannah C.

Yelp
I need not review this place because it is a Bakersfield staple, but here we are! I had not been in many years. Antonia and Claire were absolutely wonderful. They were the highlight of our experience. Food was just OK. I got the Red and White and the Thursday special dip sandwich. Espresso was great! Butterfinger pie was good, but our slice was TINY! Pasta was overpriced for sure, but not the dip sandwich special. Sometimes that's what you get at a food landmark type of restaurant. Restaurant is extremely busy, hours are a bummer, outside patio is totally cramped, difficult to get to the bathroom. Day drinking abounds. But our table inside was lovely, and I don't mind a loud restaurant. Not sure I'd go back but interested in trying their steaks.
google avatar

Lauren J.

Yelp
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine- that's Luigi's! I am in love with this place. I've been here a few times before to eat and everything was so good. This time I came to the deli. It's a small store with much of the deliciousness I remember from my trip to Italy. They had meats, cheeses, desserts, trinkets and more. I came for the gluten free to-go lasagna. I found that and so much more gluten free goodness. I got a few different types of pasta, Italian cookies, and biscotti. I also got a small meat and cheese plate to go. The staff was as nice as can be and a very sweet and kind young lady named Cookie helped me find everything. The only drawback is the parking. I circled the parking lot and surrounding neighborhood at lest half a dozen times looking for parking and almost gave up and left. I actually ended up calling and the lady said I could use curbside parking to go into the store. So glad I went in because this is now one of my favorite places in Bakersfield.

Yelp
Great Italian cuisine, consistently impressive service, and the walls filled with photographs showcasing the athletic history of Bakersfield.

Yelp
W O W! Just passing through town seeing customers coming from LA area and I had the Filet. W O W JUST THE STEAK! Sure you could have pasta or salad that comes with it But you do not need anything but THAT STEAK! Maestros, Ruth Chris,Morton's You name it this steak BEAT THEM!! I am NOT BSing you Packed Friendly Staff and you can also have sandwiches etc but I came for the STEAK AND WOW CHEF ROCKS!! Don't trust me, you come and get amazed!! Maybe a 2 hour drive is worth it? I'm thinking about it! Cheers!

Nicole C.

Yelp
Omg! You cant say enough good stuff about this place! The food is excellent and consistent. I always order the Giovanna salad and usually the cheese ravioli. The outdoor patio is cute and perfect for a nice afternoon. The service is always great, especially considering how insanely busy it gets. The deli nextdoor has fresh cuts of meats and cheeses (every father's day I come get my dad some prosciutto), olives etc as well as cute little gifty items and frozen items to make at home. The only down side is the wait can be long if you dont make a reservation ahead (if possible) and the parking is very limited. The area is near the homeless shelter but its definitely a staple in our downtown area and the homeless dont bother you.

Yelp
This was my home away from home when I was younger.... My friends and I used to go here for lunch almost every single day for our lunch break..... Luigi's holds a special place in my heart and I'll always remember laughing with my friends. A lot of memories from Luigis, great food and conversations that I'll never forget!

Yelp
My family has been coming to Luigi's for over 40 years while we lived in Bakersfield. The food is always top notch and the service and servers are the best. On this occasion we came to Bakersfield to celebrate our granddaughter's birthday and we were so glad she chose to go to Luigi's. We started off with the truffle sachetti, then ordered the Pierucci Pastrami Sandwich, Luigi Pastrami Sandwich, the tri-tip and Roast beef sandwich, all cooked to perfection. Always a great meal at Luigi's in Bakersfield.
google avatar

Gerry H.

Yelp
One of the most famous restaurants in Bakersfield, Luigi's does not disappoint with superb Italian food with Basque influence. Although the service is very efficient, the large swarms of patronage at noon time can make it a difficult place to fit in a work lunch. Pay attention to the specials for the day, and I am particularly fond of the French Dip Sandwiches on Thursdays. Pickled tongue, for the more adventurous eaters, is one of my favorite appetizers/side items.
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
This place is the institution of good food. Basque picked tongue, pastrami are amazing. Pastas and such are good too. If you've never tried it you're missing out

Yelp
This place has been a favorite whenever I visit Bakersfield. You can tell the locals embrace it and there's plenty of support for the employees as many of the faces are the same ones that served me the very first time I came. The food is delicious and always leaves you satisfied. The service is consistently spot on. The staff is attentive and works together to get food out fast and clean up so the lines outside are always moving. It brings me no joy to discover this pillar of the town has decided to serve Pepsi now. Use that information however you like.

Yelp
Pardon my French, but this place is the shit.Too bad they do not have a dinner hour because this is the best Italian in B-Town.

Yelp
The sauce was water and meat. I literally had soup left in my bowl. Their sandwich was the same size as the smallest one at Jersey Mikes. I didn't get the hype.
