"Here’s our Luis Galindo rule: you come here on Thursdays, sit down at the long counter by the sandwich station, and order the ajiaco a la criolla. It’s a hearty Cuban soup with pork, yuca, malanga, platanos, and chunks of corn still on the cob. This ajiaco is a little thick, and unlike Colombian ajiaco, it doesn’t have any potatoes. We know this sounds counterintuitive, but it’s the perfect food to get you sweating and cooled down on a hot summer day. If it's not Thursday (the only day ajiaco is available), there’s no need to fiddle through their big laminated menu complete with jewelry exchange ads. You’re ordering the tamal en cazuela—a thick corn stew with braised pork." - virginia otazo

"Pan Con Minuta The pan con minuta is a great Miami sandwich that I don’t order enough. This is simply unacceptable. So, when I found myself having lunch at Luis Galindo this week, I got one. It turned out to be just a wonderful decision. The pan con minuta here is lovely, with a juicy piece of fried fish, a good ratio of potato sticks, and that essential Cuban bun." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

"This longstanding Cuban diner is known for serving inexpensive, generous portions of Cuban favorites. The place is constantly bustling with regulars who know a good value and an authentic meal. The bistec empanizado is so large it doesn’t fit on the plate, while the grilled chicken and the cortadito are some of the best in the city." - Mary Jo Almeida Shore

Typically, when I come here the food is quite good, though the last time I picked up food to bring home. A Miami sub and a cuban sandwich. I was disappointed. The bacon on the Miami sub was mostly raw. I had to remove most of it and it was just plain sloppy. My parents who had the Cuban complained that the meat was dry. Update--another inconsistent Miami restaurant. A few days ago, we picked up an order, they forgot the black beans, tonight ( 3-11-25) they got the order wrong, so we had to go back and the same dish I had a few days ago-the filetillo de pollo salteado--which was soo good, tonight was fair at best. I don't get it. I'm obviously aware that different chefs are going to have some variation in their cooking but night and day difference? This pic was very recent--the chicken felt like and tasted like wood.

The Cuban coffee I had here is one of the best. I had great expectations on the tostones. They weren't up to the level I expected. The shrimp, fish and grilled chicken are good. The chicken dish had a lot of oil. Overall definitely worth a try. The service was fast too.

This is my staple! I have lived in this neighborhood since 1979! No better place to go for Cuban food! Yes even better than Versailles. My favorite is Bistec empanizado (breaded steak). And when I'm away, this is exactly what I crave! The steak is thin, the breading is Cuban cracker meal, it's fabulous! The steak is also HUGE they usually have to fold it over on the plate. I get it with maduros (sweet plantains) and white rice. Their white rice is bomb! BTW nothing here is diet (or vegetarian), so throw that out the window! I got take out the other day and the portion of rice was enough for days! I also love the tortilla (omelette) with onions, peppers, and tomatoes. The tortilla (yes that's what Cubans call omelettes) with fries (these are meh, could be good or not, ask for them fresh) and Cuban coffee for breakfast/brunch is delicious. I bring all my friends to this, it's so good. Ropa vieja (shredded beef in a **light** tomato sauce) is divine. My friend from North Florida insists I take her every time she visits. Oh and the Cuban sandwich. Best in Miami, hands down. HIGHLY recommended! This photo is after my mother and I ate our portion! We each had a three inch strip of steak and a ball of rice!

The extensive variety of authentic Cuban dishes including my favorite palomilla steak, makes it a delightful destination for those seeking a true taste of Latin American cuisine. A flavorful experience that won't break the bank.

I never thought I would pay $11.50 for a Cuban sandwich. However, the bread was pretty good, fresh and crunchy. It reminded me of how good Cuban bread can be.

Great little Cuban diner in Coral Gables. We were seen right away. The staff was friendly and the food was great. We really enjoyed the cafe con leche and the guava and cheese pastries.
