The 19 Best Cuban Restaurants In Miami

"Here’s our Luis Galindo rule: you come here on Thursdays, sit down at the long counter by the sandwich station, and order the ajiaco a la criolla. It’s a hearty Cuban soup with pork, yuca, malanga, platanos, and chunks of corn still on the cob. This ajiaco is a little thick, and unlike Colombian ajiaco, it doesn’t have any potatoes. We know this sounds counterintuitive, but it’s the perfect food to get you sweating and cooled down on a hot summer day. If it's not Thursday (the only day ajiaco is available), there’s no need to fiddle through their big laminated menu complete with jewelry exchange ads. You’re ordering the tamal en cazuela—a thick corn stew with braised pork." - virginia otazo

The Best Things We Ate This Week

"Pan Con Minuta The pan con minuta is a great Miami sandwich that I don’t order enough. This is simply unacceptable. So, when I found myself having lunch at Luis Galindo this week, I got one. It turned out to be just a wonderful decision. The pan con minuta here is lovely, with a juicy piece of fried fish, a good ratio of potato sticks, and that essential Cuban bun." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

Miami’s 12 Essential Cuban Restaurants | Eater Miami

"This longstanding Cuban diner is known for serving inexpensive, generous portions of Cuban favorites. The place is constantly bustling with regulars who know a good value and an authentic meal. The bistec empanizado is so large it doesn’t fit on the plate, while the grilled chicken and the cortadito are some of the best in the city."

I would have put the atmosphere was better but waitresses were throwing the chairs around stacking them up after we had just gotten there and started eating. We got there at 11:30 when the maps app says it closes at 1:00 a.m. I asked our waitress and she didn't apologize and said the place actually closes at 11:00 and that it hasn't been fixed. We heard her talking to another waitress using profanity talking about another customer that she had a problem with. The place charges you $0.25 per box for takeout or leftovers. They charge $1.45 for not paying cash. She never informed me of any of this. I found out because I looked at the receipt so hopefully you look at it. Thankfully they did not include the tip but suggest at least 15%. She forgot to bring my Coke and when I mentioned it at the end, with an attitude she said if I would have remembered and told her she would have brought it to me. Incredible! It's pretty obvious the reason that the waitresses treat the customers the way they do is because THEY KNOW No one is looking at these reviews because notice how no one responds to them. I recommend if anyone has a complaint that you talk to the manager at the moment or call the restaurant because no one looks at these reviews.

Typically, when I come here the food is quite good, though the last time I picked up food to bring home. A Miami sub and a cuban sandwich. I was disappointed. The bacon on the Miami sub was mostly raw. I had to remove most of it and it was just plain sloppy. My parents who had the Cuban complained that the meat was dry. Update--another inconsistent Miami restaurant. A few days ago, we picked up an order, they forgot the black beans, tonight ( 3-11-25) they got the order wrong, so we had to go back and the same dish I had a few days ago-the filetillo de pollo salteado--which was soo good, tonight was fair at best. I don't get it. I'm obviously aware that different chefs are going to have some variation in their cooking but night and day difference? This pic was very recent--the chicken felt like and tasted like wood.

The Cuban coffee I had here is one of the best. I had great expectations on the tostones. They weren't up to the level I expected. The shrimp, fish and grilled chicken are good. The chicken dish had a lot of oil. Overall definitely worth a try. The service was fast too.

Google
This is my staple! I have lived in this neighborhood since 1979! No better place to go for Cuban food! Yes even better than Versailles. My favorite is Bistec empanizado (breaded steak). And when I'm away, this is exactly what I crave! The steak is thin, the breading is Cuban cracker meal, it's fabulous! The steak is also HUGE they usually have to fold it over on the plate. I get it with maduros (sweet plantains) and white rice. Their white rice is bomb! BTW nothing here is diet (or vegetarian), so throw that out the window! I got take out the other day and the portion of rice was enough for days! I also love the tortilla (omelette) with onions, peppers, and tomatoes. The tortilla (yes that's what Cubans call omelettes) with fries (these are meh, could be good or not, ask for them fresh) and Cuban coffee for breakfast/brunch is delicious. I bring all my friends to this, it's so good. Ropa vieja (shredded beef in a **light** tomato sauce) is divine. My friend from North Florida insists I take her every time she visits. Oh and the Cuban sandwich. Best in Miami, hands down. HIGHLY recommended! This photo is after my mother and I ate our portion! We each had a three inch strip of steak and a ball of rice!

Google
Luis Galindo Latin American Restaurant in Miami is a culinary gem, boasting expertly cooked Cuban dishes at remarkably reasonable prices. The extensive variety of authentic Cuban dishes including my favorite palomilla steak, makes it a delightful destination for those seeking a true taste of Latin American cuisine. A flavorful experience that won't break the bank.

Yelp
Luis Galindo's is the kind of spot you go to when you just want solid, no-nonsense Cuban food. I stopped in for a pan con bistec, and it was exactly what it should be--thin, well-seasoned steak, grilled just right, on fresh Cuban bread with crispy papitas and onions. No shortcuts, no gimmicks, just a proper sandwich done right. Service was quick, and the place has that classic Miami cafeteria feel--nothing fancy, but comfortable and familiar. If you know, you know. If you don't, you should.

Yelp
Items recieved through door dash but poorly packaged and put together. Ordered hash browns and received tater tots. They also were hot enough to burn a hole through the box. The media noche was very dry and lacked flavor. Hoping this was a one off but will give them some time before we try again.

Yelp
This place is so close that is why in emergencies we stop to get food here. The chicken soup the chicken was hard and so was the tamal we ordered and could not eat. The batido de Fruta Bomba was warm and had no ice. The bocadito de jamon y queso was good but would have been better with perhaps less ham (that is why its called a bocadito). Their free buttered bread is always good.

Yelp
I wanted to come here because I heard is a family business that has been through generations in Miami. I am a big fan of supporting local businesses. It is a casual restaurant with a bakery attached. In the restaurant side, it can be a bit confusing for a first time customer that doesn't speak Spanish. I speak the language so I was able to navigate the seating situation. The lady taking care of me was nice but I didn't get the typical home latin feeling. I was surprised with the food prices. The specials of the day start at $15. It is not what I expected it from a casual Latin restaurant but nowadays everything is different. Sandwiches were also a bit pricey. Food was good. The ropa vieja was tasty and the yuca was also good. Overall, it was an unexpected pricey lunch but the restaurant was clean and food came out hot.

Yelp
The Cordero on Saturday special is absolutely sumptuous. The portion is huge. The service is second to none. Pan con bistec, yuca frita and their fries are a work of art! Hard to see from the front that it's a restaurant. Around back they have many outdoor tables. Inside is cool, clean and cheerful. Don't miss it, in my opinion it's the best Cuban Restaurant in Miami!

Yelp
Good Cuban restaurant in West Miami. I've been coming here for years, the staff is always friendly and they keep it clean. They have all the traditional Cuban meals, all of them tasty. Next door is the bakery where you can get all your sweet tooth cravings. I will admit they have gone up in prices over the years, but with inflation and rising costs I understand. They're not as well known as the other Cuban restaurants on Calle Ocho, but you should definitely give them a try.

Yelp
We saw Luis Galindos featured on Netflix and decided we needed to experience the OG Cubano Sandwich. Found out later we went to the wrong location, but oh well, it shouldn't matter right? Guess I'll never know. If it wasn't for the amazing kindness of our waitress I probably would have made this a three star review. She didn't speak a lot of English and we tried with our terrible Spanish and met somewhere in the middle. She was really friendly, welcoming, and extremely patient with us. I enjoyed my small cortadito but not as much as I enjoyed those yucca fries! Super crispy and had great flavor, not at all bland like most other yucca fries. Ok let's talk about the Cubano. Unfortunately it was incredibly average. Bread was dry and kind of crumbly. The roast pork was dry as well. The sandwich meat inside was barely warm, tepid at best. The sandwich was missing some serious salt and crunch with the very very minimal amount of pickles and mustard inside. The only good thing about this sandwich was the thick globs of slightly melted Swiss cheese inside. But that's all there really is to report here. I would recommend this sandwich if you want a baseline experience to compare other Cubano sandwiches with.

Yelp
This is our go to Latin restaurant when we want a good homemade meal. We often come here and you can't go wrong with whatever you order. It is always fresh and so deliciously made , just as special as your mom cooked it. I usually order the mahi-mahi and it is very good! My hubby has the salmon and it beats any expensive fish restaurant out there!! They always serve you plenty of toasty buttered bread as soon as you sit down and not to mention their service is impecable! These ladies are very attentive and you never have to ask to refill your water! Always so sweet too! Their meatballs on Wednesdays are not to be missed! It's their special dish for Wednesdays among other plates. It is one of my favorites also, but you better come early because they usually run out by 5pm. All in all we truly enjoy coming here! Ambiance is great too many locals come often as we do too! Overall you can't go wrong coming here, you will love many of their dishes!

Yelp
You can get Cuban sandwiches everywhere in Miami, however at "this" Latin American Cafe" it is an art. The Chef preparing the sandwiches with his knives captivated me. From how he slices the port and crusts the bread with his knives is worth noting. Ok, maybe it's dramatic for a sandwich but the end result is worth it. I and Hispanic and have had Cuban Sandwiches up and down the east coast. In 30 years, NO one has made a better Cuban sandwich. If I am within 50 miles of Miami or if I have a layover in Miami or FT Lauderdale Airport, I make this a must go to. You absolutely will not be disappointed!!!

Yelp
We have been visiting this location for years since 2014 We have seen the employees who know us well those who have been with location for many of years. Our last visit was last night after 8pm March 27th, 2023 Our server was - Odalis a wonderful waitress who knows us as frequent customers. Unfortunately the food has dropped in quality the Tamal En Cazuela was always lean on our last two visits, we have found FAT! I have felt totally disgusted during this meal. The kitchen does not understand either lite onions a fist full is not light onions. Classic tortilla ham and onion Note to management: the kitchen has difficulty understanding lite onion. THE TIP MATTER CONTINUES TO A MATTER THAT HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED ADDID THE TOTAL WITH TAX TO THE TIP. THE TIP IS NOT TAXABLE!

Yelp
The sexton at my church eats lunch here every day so that was a good recommendation. The grilled fish was huge, a lovely snapper. Perfectly prepared. Black beans and sweet plantains on the side. Husband got incredibly yummy roast pork with onions. Flan and coffee for dessert. Tasty complimentary toasted Cuban bread. Service quick and friendly. Happy to eat outside. Very reasonable. All our food was $38.

Yelp
My husband placed an order for pick up, he got home with our dinners and discovered that they neglected to give him the rice that comes with the meal. My meal was bland ( Palomilla Steak, rice and beans) and the bread is crunchy and has little to no butter after he asked for soft bread with lots of butter. Also discovered was that they charged $4 for the to-go containers (1 of which he didn't even get). This place has gone downhill, only 3 people dining in.

Eduardo P.

Yelp
Horrible experiencia.

Yelp
It's sad to leave this review. We come to this location all the time and the past two times the sweets are old. Not sure if it is the cooler or if they just are not selling. We drove from Brickell to this location again tonight for a sweet. We got three. They are OLD!! A week ago, we got two sweets. They were old. Called and told them. They made it right with replacing. Tonight, why do we have to keep calling in. Until they get the cooler fixed or get the sweets baked fresh. We won't be back. So sad. Once okay, I understand. Twice. We have an issue. So if your planning for a sweet you will want to eat them there to make sure they are fresh. We take them to go and they are OLD and when we get home we can't eat them. Horrible!

Yelp
Galindos Latin America never disappoints. Food is always good. Great service and good prices. The croquetas are awesome and the sandwiches are amazing!

Yelp
Walked in to buy a cake and there are no prices on the cakes. I asked for the prices and she says they are all different. Yeah obviously I know they are all different. So I ask about a certain cake and she asks the other girl and it seems like she just made up a price for non- Cuban customers. Ok great. No thanks. I'll take my business else where!

Lourdes S.

Yelp
the waitresses in the takeout section are rude. i was waiting but there was no one there, so she takes out a lipstick andirror and puts her lipstick on. I'm still waiting to be acknowledged. then she begins a conversation about a religious sect. then it was the homeless. Finally she asked " what do you want?" No use complaining to Mr Galindo bcause he was taking and order and witnessed most of it. Lastly my order was wrong. Stay away.

M V.

Yelp
I frequently eat at this restaurant when I'm in Miami ( which is pretty often). The Mamey shake was the best I've had . The Cuban sandwich was good - needs more pork and cheese . The tostones Pepe were good but not hot . The palomilla was good . What I am finding DISGUSTING is the tv with the ads. One of the ads is for an exterminator and shows roaches and other bugs. Why would you show that in an eating establishment??? Do you have roaches ??? Please take the ad out . Are you that desperate for money from them ?? Would love to hear from the owner regarding this matter . Has the owner changed ?? My rating is because of the ad .

Yelp
It seems that there's a Cuban restaurant in every (305) corner but this restaurant is not only a staple in the community but its food and service is consistently good. This no frills and no reservations required restaurant sometimes has lines of people waiting for a "first come first serve" table and the patrons don't mind the wait because they know that their bellies will be satisfied and their wallets will not be left empty after the bill comes. Their menu is extensive and it offers a bit for everyone's palate even the vegetarian ones. Their food is fresh and plentiful; so plentiful, that it is shareable if you want it to be. Their variety of sandwiches are hearty, filling and better than abuela's (sorry grandma..!). They also have beer and wine selections that are not your finest but a good table wine never the less; the best part is that a very plentiful and water-glass size glass of wine will cost you about $4.50. I've never really said no to several glasses of wine but one of these is pretty much all I need to enjoy the dinner outing. The female servers are incredibly nice, helpful and very professional. I don't believe that they speak any other language besides Spanish but they're so attentive and the food so good that you can overlook the language barrier. Besides, everybody understands the language of food. The place has been remodeled and now offers outside dining as well as inside. The inside tables are acceptably distant from each other and the staff adheres to face coverings. If you haven't checked them out, try them and hope you enjoy this place as much as I do. The place is not fancy in comparison to others but it does offer good Cuban charm, good food, and service with a smile; and as the adage goes, "simple is more"...!...Bon Appétit...!

Evans G.

Yelp
very bad service. i went there for breakfast. they only brought me the toast and the milk with coffee. they never brouhte the rest of the breafast. I tried to speak with the manager and it was impossible. they manage not to let you speak with someone encharge. do not recomend this place.

Maribel R.

Yelp
Not the same as when Galindo owned and ran this place. The palomilla isn't really palomilla. The steak sandwich has a hard piece of meat in it. I've been going there since I was a kid. It's changed and not as nice as it was. Even the "batido de Mamey" (mamey shake) is blah.... It used to be creamy and smooth and was made with real fruit but now it's watery. Cubans don't want to drink "Mamey smoothies" at all Cuban restaurant. They also charge for takeout containers which is ridiculous and petty since Cuban food is cheap to make and they already overcharge for it. Plus they charge your debit card a transaction fee as if it were a credit card! What greedy management is running this place now? I won't return. I found a place in Orlando called Zaza that has real palomilla steaks. My new favorite Cuban food restaurant. For some reason I can't find a good Cuban restaurant that serves real palomilla in Miami anymore. I miss the old Latin America and Lila's steak and fries!

Chez B.

Yelp
This restaurant sucks ! My family & were in the mood for Cuban & the front desk guy @ the hotel nearby recommended it - but he must get kickbacks because this place was horrible ! 5 out of my 7 family members ( including 3 young children) came down with food poisoning. Our entire Memorial weekend got ruined ! But the food was tasteless, one of my daughters ordered a palomilla steak that smelled bad, the service was terrible, there was flies all over the dining area & our table & when I complained to the fat non English speaking halfwit "manager" -he responded by saying : "the flies are not a big deal & that where he comes from they're served as a delicious desert" WTH !?! Obviously we're never going back & seeking legal action !! ((( For some reason I couldn't give this place 0 stars or the negative stars it deserves so I was forced into giving this place 1 star )))

Yelp
Come here from time to time for take-out. Its convenient and pretty good. Basic Cuban food and kinda comfort food as well for some of us. Their white rice is pretty good actually. And the portions are big! One main course order easily serves 2 adults. Their "mariquitas" are really good too. Do get as a side order for sure. Definite comfort food with those! The clientele is mainly if not totally for locals. The tourists go to the Versailles on 8th street which ain't that good...sorry....
google avatar

Gloria A.

Yelp
Place doesnt say much from the outside, its pretty spacious, good for families or small groups, typical latin america feel, the croquetas were good even tho Im not a fan of this type of breading, coffee and sangria were good and cheap, eggs were a bit burnt and too much for my taste, the hash browns are actually tater tots BUT very yummy, the papa a la casa are boiled w a garlic type sauce, tasted good but maybe for lunch to heavy for bfast. Service was welcoming and friendly

Yelp
BEST cuban sandwich in Miami. Look no further for consistently delicious Cuban food. Try the croquetas de jamon. Breakfast is bueno, bonito y barato.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Cuban restaurant the food was excellent create rice and beans great Maduros plenty of food the only complaint I have is I ordered the pork chunks and I brought Jess three big pieces and two very small pieces I mean for the price that they charge besides the fact that they charge $.30 per container I mean they should be giving you more especially during times of pandemic. But the food is very good and I do enjoy the service the girls are very nice I would say probably one of the best Cuban food restaurants in our neighborhood .

Ana G.

Yelp
Really solid. They know how to toast Cuban sandwiches correctly - no soggy bread here!
google avatar

Nelson Gerardo S.

Yelp
Prices way too high for the value, quality went down even the plasticware for takeout order are low low quality like the type you will use for kids party. And you can not eat there because it stinks. To answer you,I go there because it's one block away from my place. Shame on you.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
The food and service are great. The prices are affordable. BUT the music is so loud that you cant have a conversation. So sad that this place doesnt have sense to make the place enjoyable.

Yelp
Good food!!! Quick service!!! I grew up in this neighborhood ... nice to see one thing that has not changed for the worse!?&$@

Yelp
After eating breakfast here, I was a little surprised that they had a 4 star rating. I must be missing something. It was a group of 8 of us and we were attended immediately. When it comes to my Cuban breakfast, if I'm going to have Cuban toast, I'm a little porky and need extra butter. I asked when I ordered for extra and it came very bare. I sent it back and asked for extra again and it came back bare again. We were not off to a great start my friends. The food was hot and cheap. Can't beat the prices. They also forgot one persons food and when we were almost done, he finally asked when his was coming out. They never noticed he was the only one without a plate. If I ever needed anything, I had to ask my waitress 3-4 times before she finally brought it to me.

Steven C.

Yelp
A staple Cuban restaurant in Miami where the locals go. The second I walked in I could tell it was my type of place when I saw the wrap around bar, no frills just traditional. I got the Cuban sandwich it was very good, they're always better when cut diagonally. I also got the Moro, Maduro's and Croquetas. They definitely don't skimp on portions so be prepared to eat. Don't forget to stop by their bakery next door and have a Guava Pastelito and a piece of flan.

Charles R.

Yelp
HORRIBLE! Seven employees with one customer and myself and one recognizes me for about five minutes. Then once I place a to go order an older male employee says something to the other two employee's about me and all began to laugh. I am a white American and I speak Spanish. I canceled my order and left because of racial discriminatio.

Meredyth S.

Yelp
Been going to Galindos for years and it's always consistent. Good food, people and centrally located.

Yelp
Stopped in here while in Miami for an appointment. Due to covid there is only outdoor seating. Super noisy and flies everywhere as they have set up in what used to be the parking lot and this is right on the corner of a super busy intersection. Also, the table we sat on was right where the rain water collected in the canopy and it kept falling on us soaking us. My girls ordered steaks medium well. They were so bloody they couldn't finish them. When the girl came and asked us if we wanted a to go box I said we did not want to take the steak as it was practically raw. She said "well you ordered it medium well" and I said "exactly!!! THIS is not medium well. Also, I am sure it was one of the owners that stood behind us the entire time discussing that they wanted to build a permanent structure to replace the temporary one we were in. It's a conversation you should try and have away from customers. I cannot imagine we will be back

Yelp

Yelp
It's basically a boutique version of Palacio De Los Jugos without the twenty counters and multiple checkout transactions. Calle Ocho and Red road is prime location for an authentic Cuban cafeteria where the espuma always is on point. I got a Medianoche and a Jupina and was mind boggled by the amount of meat in that sanguish. That'll feed ya, alright. The food is hearty, inexpensive, and pretty darn authentically delicioso. The empanizado will literally feed you and a friend with enough for leftovers. I like the whole Cuban counter dining experience to balance my inner hungry chonga. It's open until midnight so you can enjoy Cuban food all day long. They also do call ahead orders when you're in un corre corre. Parking is all around the building even though at certain times it's tremendo tranque to find un puesto. Pero, whatever-That's Miami, bro.

Yelp
If you want amazing home style Cuban cooking look no further. Everything is delicious! Today I had the Bistec Empanisado (breaded flank steak) with Congri (rice cooked with red beans), and fried sweet plantains. Try the Carne con Papa (Beef and potato's), and the Chicken steak covered in cooked onions too. Consistently delicious.

Yelp
On my quest for the best Cuban sandwich in kendall, I realize that I did not have enough places to try so I decided to venture far and wide: Calle 8 and 57. Here I asked for the same : un cubano, extra mustard, extra pickles, not too much cheese and pressed. They hit all the right points. This one is in the top 3 best one's I have had. The 3 ladies there (I only remember Maggy's name, sorry) where really attentive. Thank you for working with such great attitude. Will be back soon.

Yelp
Amazing cafe and bakery (for the price). Very authentic - don't expect English speaking staff - just enjoy the Miami flare. We had eaten dinner already - but the FLAN and CHOCOLATE MOUSSE were incredible. Wow. Parking right outside. Open for breakfast and until midnight during the week. Winner.

Yelp
This place is DEEEELICIOUS! The food here is authentic and really really good. Every time I return home to Miami I am always craving good Cuban Food and this is the first place I go. They have amazing food, the service is great and the prices are really reasonable. Also, they try to accommodate diet restrictions where possible, which is unheard of in a Cuban Restaurant. When I come here I usually come with my father who is on a very strict sodium restricted diet and they go out of their way to make meals that he can eat. They are super kind to him when he goes there to eat as well. Overall an great place to eat, oh and they are open 24 hours! Can't beat that!

Yelp
Loved this place when I was living in the Gables! It was our go to Cuban place anytime! Love that they are open late and the food seldom disappoints! Delicious home style cooking and flavors. The Vaca frita and the ropa vieja are among my favorite dishes.. had almost everything on the menu and I must admit that they were all yummy!

Yelp
If you want a place to eat that has modest prices and rocking typical Cuban food this is the place to be. It's my mom's favorite. Whenever you ask her where she wants to go this always her answer. They know her by name. Fan favorites are definitely la Crema de Malanga, Pan Con Bistec & Frita Cubana.

Yelp
When I want delicious Cuban food that reminds me of my grandma's cooking when I was a kid, this is where I go. I've been here several times and the food never ever disappoints. Aside from boasting with authentic flavor, the prices are low and the portions are huge. A basket of warm Cuban bread smothered in butter is served before your food and it's so hard to not ruin your appetite, and resist the bread! Some of my favorite things to get here are chicken soup, palomilla steak, and grilled chicken. Also, not only is this spot a great place for lunch and dinner, they also serve breakfast. And, they have a bakery on the opposite side of the restaurant, too! Parking is a bit limited though and service may not be the warmest, but it is quick. I'll end this review with one last recommendation -- find room for dessert. Whether it's a batido or mamey flan, you won't regret it.
