"Every pizzeria claims to have a secret sauce or a secret recipe, but Luisa’s secret-not-so-secret ingredient is its brick oven brought over from Milan in the late 1980s. The restaurant boasts that the oven has cooked over a million pizzas. The lunchtime pizza buffet is a must-do as is ordering appetizers of meatballs and calamari. The signature pizza is the Luisa pizza with sliced tomatoes, pesto, ricotta cheese, and garlic. Other house specialties include the muffuletta (with ham, Genoa salami, provolone, and a muffuletta pesto of chopped green olives and pepperoncini)." - Nikki Miller-Ka

Super disappointed. I didn’t ever think i would say that about Luisa’s but, the pizza was subpar. Heavy on the mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. Very slack on the Italian sausage. I didn’t order a vegetarian pizza for $33. We’ve been coming here for over 20 years. Hopefully it was an off night.

Google
We ordered a medium pizza, with pepperoni on half. It arrived with pepperoni on the whole pizza. No worries, can just pick it off. However the middle of the pizza was very undercooked while the edge was burnt. Also ordered an antipasto salad. I thought the meats and cheese would be cut up, instead it was just whole slices of meat and cheese. Not a problem, I can just cut them up. Except they didn't include utensils or napkins as requested. The meat looked off and smelled weird. Just didn't seem appealing. We ordered two fountain drinks. Instead of a diet Coke and regular Coke, it was two diet cokes. Finally the tiramisu looked like it was in a car accident, just smeared all around the box it arrived it. It tasted worse than it looks. All of this for $60? Absolutely awful in every respect.

They have a lunch buffet! Went in to pick up a large pizza to go. It was a great pizza and the employees were super nice. FYI If you pay cash you get a small discount and the food is reasonably priced.

My family has been coming back to Luisa’s over and over for a decade now!! It is a humble, cozy, sweet place to come and eat with your family. The big stone oven is right there for you to see the pizzas being baked. People baking pizza been working there for ever! Same guys! We love the owner - Jeff, he is the heart of the place, so welcoming! You you are into thin crust pizza this is your little heaven.

Google
Stopped in for a pizza to go. Looked like they had a good buffet. Service was very quick, friendly and the pizza was good!

Google
Our waitress was incredibly nice, cannot remember her name, but super welcoming and helpful. We got the pesto pizza. Highly recommend that and coming here. It's a very cozy place.

Google
Just a little constructive criticism. I ordered a large pizza with pepperoni for dinner and my family was disappointed. Now that I know what one order of added pepperoni looks like. Is it possible to add pictures and adjustments to your restaurant on postmates? We spent approximately $24.25 for what essentially is a cheese pizza with some pepperoni. Would gladly add two to three orders of pepperoni for more coverage on the next order. Thank you!

Google
Love Luisa's. I've been going since the 80s. But the pizza is often burnt. This latest order is supposed to have olives on half, not just two slices. And I don't know who was ironing their shirt in the kitchen, but they ran into my pizza!

Yelp
It's a good neighborhood pizza spot Nothing out of this world but solid pizza Service was good Build your own and fried ravioli were good

Yelp
I stumbled upon Luisa's by mere chance. We had plans to go to another restaurant and it was packed. We had to pivot and spotted Luisa's that is situated off of Montford in a shopping centre on the second level. Boy am I happy we found it. It was refreshing to see that they did have a brick oven and that the pizza would have that brick oven taste. Sat down and ordered a muffuletta pizza that is inspired by the New Orleans sandwich. The pie packed a flavour punch and had a crispy crust. We also ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich with fries. The sandwich was incredible and flavourful and the bread was fluffy, however the fries were bland and didn't have any seasoning at all. Also, the food portions are generous and will need a box to take lunch for the next day.One thing I noticed is that the restaurant felt super outdated but the food compensated for it and the server was great too.

Yelp
Luisa isn't some sexy pizza joint with any shtick. They make some delicious pizza on the second floor of this shopping complex in Montford. I was honestly shocked as I looked down and saw the whole pie was gone. Their house pie's were a bit odd in my opinion, so I decided to make my own. Our server gave us a great experience with how quickly everything came out. A great experience for sure! Can't wait till we meet again Luisa!

Yelp
We had two pizzas and salads. All of it was very good and being from New York, New Jersey. That's pretty good compliment.

Michael M.

Yelp
I'll start with service which I would give them a 5 star considering what they are forced to serve. The rest gets a -1 They lack experience in the pizza department. The owner is very fortunate that the patrons eat at this pizza shop are very inexperienced and quite honestly lack good qualities in the food sector. The oven is absolutely dirty and disgusting . Ambiance reminds me of Pizza Hut from 1990 and a bowling alley merged together and opened up a pizza shop in "The Hills Have Eyes" Wake up people, pizza is horrible.

Jessica J.

Yelp
We ordered take out tonight. I read the reviews and being from out of town thought we would this place a chance. Well it started off with our pizza arriving cold. I do mean cold no warmth at all, we had to heat it in the microwave to even eat it and I like Cold Pizza next day but not when I first get it. I was not thrilled with that but I was still going to give them a chance. It was not the worst pizza I save that for little Cesar's but this is right above that. For $25 for one large pepperoni pizza save your money and go elsewhere. With fees and taxes all together it was $40

Yelp
I have lived in Charlotte for almost 10 years, and I can't believe that I haven't discovered Luisa's sooner. It is hands down my family's new favorite pizza spot. Our servers are always so friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. No other pizza in Charlotte compares. We have made it our new Sunday night tradition, and I look forward to it all week!!

John H.

Yelp
Ordered Luisas through Postmates and had a great experience. First order we tried a little bit of everything: Luisa Pizza with salad and in house muffuletta dressing, the garlic breadsticks and chicken parm pasta. Everything was delicious and the standout was the pizza- wood fired with a perfect thin base body and crunchy crust. Been trying to find a go-to pizza spot with the new house so Luisas is a top contender! I think next time I'll try to pick up myself and see how it goes minus the Postmates. Nothing wrong with the Postmates experience but I would hate that the restaurant is paying fees for another service when I am more than able to pick up myself.

Yelp
We got a pepperoni pizza and another build your own, and they were both fantastic. Great crust and fresh toppings. The homemade marinara and ranch are AMAZING. Great service, all the staff were super friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Ordered a large pizza and wings for pickup on a Saturday night. They were busy but I think it took a reasonable amount of time to be ready. The wings were crispy and tasty. The pizza was delicious thin crust, super flavorful. It was good as take out so we can't wait to try dine-in sometime soon. Took off one star because we thought prices were a little high.

Pablo S.

Yelp
As a native I can't believe it took me 50+ years to visit Luisa's! I took my pizza loving young daughter and my pops for the lunch buffet and it was so delicious. We had limited time so this pick was perfect. On the way out I said hello and thank you to the maker who gave me some background history about the place which I loved. Can't wait to return.

Hannah K.

Yelp
Had a large group of 10 people for a goodbye party and Luisa's delivered! Got amazing pizza, calzone was to die for!! Our server was hilarious and attentive and everything came out piping hot! Great environment for groups and families galore!

Scott C.

Yelp
I stopped in for the the pizza lunch Buffet. Kind of crowded today. But they kept up with everyone. Still some of the best pizza in Charlotte. If you like fennel in your sausage, you need to go here. And the salad dressing is unbelievable. Check them out if you're in the area.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Moved to Charlotte area in 2006, tried many pizza joints, and this by far is the best in my humble opinion. The pizza crust is awesome thanks to the brick oven, had many variations of their pizza and never have been disappointed. Highly recommend.

Nick R.

Yelp
Was in the mood for beer and pizza tonight and Luisa's did not disappoint. Service was great and sat at a little bar "taproom" and ate dinner. Service was perfect and could not do any better.

Caroline W.

Yelp
I've never seen so many people getting takeout from somewhere on a Friday night, so I immediately knew it was good before even opening the box. We got 4 pizzas for the group and each one we tried was better than the last. Really good pizza and will def be going back!

Chris T.

Yelp
I don't know what I was expecting, having just eaten at Modern and Pepe's in New Haven CT (didn't get to Sally's this trip) ..... The gentleman at the register was very nice and the pie was ready on time. Unfortunately, the pie was just substandard. Too much flop - underdone / too soft and thick for brick oven without much char; the sauce leaning towards "sweet". Maybe a good pie for NC ...... but doesn't hold a candle to the NH pizza I grew up with. A good try ......... CT

Deborah N.

Yelp
So far, the pizza here is my favorite. I like hand tossed, thin crust pizza and this was delicious. Husband and I ordered large pizza and side salad for lunch takeout. The order was ready quickly and we were on our way back to son and daughter-in-law's home. They liked it, too. We probably should have ordered 2 pizzas. Definitely, remembering to return here next time we are in Charlotte.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Can't believe I've waited so long to try this absolutely delicious pizza! The fontina/mozzarella cheese blend is to die for!! Thank you... I will be a frequent customer! I wish you would open in Fort Mill!!

Angela O.

Yelp
We've had two negative experiences at Luisa's, both times we got takeout. First - we ordered a bowl of the minestrone soup. Upon opening the soup, it was clear to me that it was canned soup. I recognized the Progresso Minestrone soup. I called Luisa's to confirm that it was canned soup, and the person at the front confirmed it was. Secondly, there was a long piece of hair in our pizza. I called again to inform Luisa's. Their response was a lackluster apology and "I'll make sure everyone in the back has a hair net on". There was no offer to make up for the situation. I do like their pizza, but I will not be buying from them again.

Roy O.

Yelp
Great place to stop and grab lunch. Every time I've been here I've ordered the pizza buffet so that's all I have experience with. I will say that I have always gotten quick and friendly service. As soon as I sit down the waiter usually approaches, takes my drink order, and I tell them I'm going to the buffet. Another reason why I really like this place, is the fact that the buffet ends at 2:30 and there have been times that I have gotten there at 2:15 and fresh pizza continues to come out. I would say on average, they have about 10 different types of pizza in rotation.

Zakyus C.

Yelp
Luisa has done it again, we returned to Charlotte after months of planning to visit. our entire trip centered around attending dinner at this restaurant. once again the food was outstanding and the deserts were to die for.

Madison C.

Yelp
Great pizza with even better customer service. On our first visit they made us feel like regulars, and multiple people checked in on us during our dinner. We will definitely be back!

Nick S.

Yelp
Genuinely good, unique to this place flavor, pizza. Expensive, but worth the money. Delicious.

Sherri W.

Yelp
I'm giving 2 stars because our server was really nice and did a great job. As far as the pizza, not pleased. It tasted old and was not hot whatsoever. The fried mushrooms were very watery, the jalapeño poppers were all breading, and the meatballs were pretty good. Overall, I wouldn't recommend eating here or go back. Could have been an off day for them, but there are so many pizza places to chose from, so on that note, gotta shape up these days!

Steve C.

Yelp
Their pizza crust is great, light & crispy. However, their pizza prices are steep. $25 for a 16" 4 cheese pizza when you can go around the corner and get an 18" with as many toppings as you want for $20. Pizza is good but there is as good if not better pizza a stones throw away for much less.

Erin W.

Yelp
BEWARE !!!! I wish I could give it LESS than one star. My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday dinner. When the server finally came over to us (restaurant was NOT busy enough for the wait). We only ordered a pizza with a few toppings on it. The pizza came out raw. Dough was raw, veggies were raw, and it was lacking cheese! We were given excuses about everything; it was so disappointing. I took one bite and spit it out. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. That was the first and last time we will ever go here. Restaurant needs a good clean.

Jenita M.

Yelp
Finally dropped in to try this place after driving through some months ago from that popular bakery. The staircase caught my eye and gave me a 80s vibe. Looked cozy. I got a medium deluxe pizza with veggie toppings, sausage, pepperoni, and bacon. I figured it would be about $18. It was $23. Seems if you have a great taste palette you pizza will almost be $25. Luckily, it was a delicious pizza and great service. The guy who waited on me knew what kind of pizza I had in mind and suggested adding garlic which I had no idea was topping (rare thing to get a suggestion). Friendly crew. So far its my favorite Italian pizza in town. I would definitely say this a good date spot and a spot to unwhine if you're alone too.

Robin O.

Yelp
We have gotten food to go 2 times recently. Pizza the first time and spinach lasagna the second time. We also got the fried mushrooms both times. The food was fabulous. I have to say the spinach lasagna was the best I have ever had. The mushrooms and pizza were great. I think we have found our new place for Italian food.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Charlotte is not typically synonymous with decent pizza but this place is a happy exception. Ordered a large cheese pizza and an order of garlic bread for takeout and was not disappointed. I appreciated that they don't chince out on the sauce and my roommate said he really enjoyed the crust. A little grease but not sopping, just the way I like it. Service was also pleasant. We'll be back!

Lori L.

Yelp
I have mixed reviews about this place. It's more of a 3.5. When we first walked in, we were waiting by the sign where it said to wait to be seated. Right across from us was the oven station where they had three people making pizzas. They didn't say anything to us but I did notice when some people walked behind us, they greeted them like crazy. They must of been regulars. We waited a few minutes before anyone even greeted us. Someone walked by briskly asking how many people were in our party and we told him 2. He said he would be right back. We waited a few more minutes and finally got seated. We got sat at a table and as soon as I sat down, my whole dress was wet from the seat being cleaned and not dry. Not a huge issue, but annoying. We got greeted by our server. She was ok. We ordered a pizza that was similar to a supreme (pepperoni, peppers, onions, mushrooms, ham and beef). We waited about 30 minutes for our pizza which is normal for a oven pizza. When we got it, we couldn't tell where the beef was. But when she dropped the pizza off, she pretty much just walked away. We ate a few slices and asked her if there was any beef on the pizza. She looked at our pizza then asked us if we tasted any beef. What? That's why we are asking. We didn't see any nor did we taste any. She then said she asked them to put beef on the pizza. And then said sorry and walked off. What? That's kind of rude especially since we asked for it. I will admit the pizza was good. But the whole service in general was just ok.

Sarah S.

Yelp
We got the Luisa pizza and toasted ravioli. Toasted ravioli was good but our pizza was cold and undercooked (did a pick up order and we live 2 minutes away). Half the pizza stuck to the box and was not edible. Wanted to like it! Maybe we just got it on an off night

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
We placed an order for pickup last night and it was fantastic! I saw on facebook that they were filling up growlers. My hubby brought his growler and got it filled up for a decent price. Not sure if this is something typical or just being offered during these crazy Covid 19 times. Family owned and run business. My hubby said that he spent some time chatting with the guy who filled up his growler and he was the soon to be son in law of the owner. We got a half and half pizza. Half milano for my husband and half pepperoni and pineapple (dont judge) for me. Pizza was delish. Thought the sauce, cheese and dough was spot on. Great spot for a good pizza!

Hannah S.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place almost 5 years ago - for my now fiancé and I's first date! We instantly fell in love with the feel of the place and for the pizza - the Luisa is our favorite but there are so many options! Most recently, we went back this week and tried the wings for the first time (we are big wing people) and we were so impressed!!! It's officially a staple for u when we go there now. Last month, the owner, Jeff, was kind enough to let us take some engagement photos in the restaurant. Since it's such a special place for us, we wanted to some pics to celebrate our engagement! The team was so accommodating, down to earth and friendly with our requests. Such a great spot for REAL, genuine, brick oven pizza. We love it here!

Nathalie P.

Yelp
I ordered the lasagna and it came out COLD , not warm, or room temperature‍ The sauce of the pizza and the lasagna tasted straight out of tomato can. The frozen lasagna from Costco tastes way better than this one. The place is too cramped and overall experience was not the best. Worst money spent

Bruce K.

Yelp
Stopped by Luisa's for their lunch pizza deal and was pleased. While it's not great pizza, it is absolutely very good pizza. Brick oven baked, rather than the usual gas oven stuff, it is a bit more charred around the edges and this adds a different flavor - a good one - to the pie. The buffet has a salad which is nice and tasty, but don't decieve yourself into thinking that's a healthier choice than the pizza. It's got a good amaount of dressing on it. And really, you're at a pizza place. Have the pizza! And for the pizza choices, it was a nice variety though not spectacular. The focus here is on the tasty crust and not the creative toppings. What are you expecting for $9? Pepperoni and sausage and peppers and mushrooms and the like. The pesto-topped pizza was tasty. A very nice lunch option at a great lunch price for very tasty brick-oven pizza. I can see why Luisa's is so popular!

Beatriz D.

Yelp
It was such a great pizza place! The food and service were awesome!! They were all so friendly! Go here for awesome pizza and other food!

Kevin L.

Yelp
I've only ever ordered a cheese pizza from here. Pretty good pie. very thin, which I like, but wish it was a little crispier. I think it's just the style. Good flavor and convenient. Apparently they have a pizza buffet. I'm going to have to try and figure out how to get there to try it out. 100% guarantee though based on the cheese pizza I've had, it will be 10000x better than CiCi's. I'm looking forward to it.

Reggie P.

Yelp
The pizza was fresh and hot! It really didn't have a lot of flavor. I can tell they make their dough fresh. Next time I think I will get more toppings.

Caitlin D.

Yelp
Lovely little family spot! Very friendly service. We got the Milano pizza and a build your own with pepperoni, Italian sausage, and roasted red peppers. I highly recommend the Milano! Both were mild and flavorful at the same time. Perfectly sauced and perfectly cooked!! Can't wait to come back!

Verna B.

Yelp
Delicious thin crust pizza! The seasoning is perfect As well as the cheese and tomato sauce. I have been patronizing this restaurant for around 7 years and highly recommend it!

Tasha W.

Yelp
We had lunch here for the first time today. I work with clients with disabilities, and I'm always looking for affordable restaurants where we can get our monies worth. This place didn't disappoint. For $8.50 you can get the " all you can eat pizza & salad buffet " Unheard of right? They had several pizza options, pasta and the salad was fresh. The $8.50 doesn't include a drink. A drink is included for $9.50 .....I think we just found a new weekly spot...

Michael W.

Yelp
Went for the lunch buffet and was underwhelmed by the quality of the pizza. The salad had iceberg lettuce and green peppers and tomatoes. Restaurants need to do better than iceberg lettuce! I WILL say that the price for the buffet was $8 and very reasonable. I don't eat pizza often because of the carbs and calories. When I do, I want pizza that is so good that it makes me want to dance around the block. I was not dancing after I ate this pizza. Additionally, the service was mediocre at best. I asked twice for some sweetener for my tea. The server never brought it and we had to go fetch it for ourselves. I wish them no ill will, but there are better places to go when you want a pizza splurge!

Adam B.

Yelp
Went for lunch for the buffet. The pizza on the buffet was nothing to write home about. Very bland and no frills. Buffet is a good price and value. The pizza all did come out nice and hot and fresh. It's just not quality pizza. Hopefully when you order a whole pizza the quality is better. Buffet also had salad which already had dressing on it(I liked the dressing) and pasta salad. Glad I tried it, but would not rush back

Latonya B.

Yelp
This was a disappointing end to an otherwise beautiful day. The apparent change in staff and management has resulted in a serious decline in customer service and customer appreciation. Order of arrival does not seem to matter - it's whether the owner Jeff knows you - are you a regular, a friend, you can have a table first... After we were seated our waitress brought our drinks to the table and took our order (2 large 3 topping pizzas). We waited over an hour, watched others around us eat, pay, and leave, and we still had not received our food. So we decided to leave, I have been a customer of Luisa's, I have recommended Luisa's, I won't be returning.

Rachael L.

Yelp
The manager made me slightly uncomfortable when I came to pick up my food having their mask under their chin. could practice covid regulations better! but the food is great. highly recommend the spinach lasagna. it's our favorite thing to order.

Sowmya P.

Yelp
So so good. Love their pizza. They are floppy and a great size highly recommend getting food from this little spot

Jay R.

Yelp
One of charlottes best pizza spots - hands down. Pie came out very quickly (7 minutes) and was cooked perfectly. Their secret sauce is amazing and the service is top notch.

Raphael S.

Yelp
My kids grew up on this place. Super family friendly, with the same people greeting us at the door for 15 years. Pizza is perfectly thin. And we love the house dressing on the salad. A Montford gem.

Jessica O.

Yelp
Consistently great pizza, we typically order online and pick up which is an easy process and right now with this crisis, it's even more important to continue getting take out from the places we would normally go. Love that you can get a half and half BYO, makes it easy when you can't decide. And their pizza sauce is SO good. We always get an extra side of sauce just for dipping.
