"Once called Rosalu Diner, this Clinton Hill spot recently rebranded as Lulu & Po. Under the new name, the modern luncheonette decor remains, and dinner has been added. But the main draw continues to be the pancakes — easily a contender for some of the fluffiest on this list. Oh, and fans can rejoice in the fact that they’re now served on real plates versus paper ones, as they had been throughout the pandemic." - Eater Staff

Wish I didn’t put off visiting this place for so long - it was incredible. Great staff and super helpful recommendations. Even on a Sunday busy brunch time we were able to get seated quickly and the food came out in less than 10 minutes. The Pane Frattau was the star of the show, perfect combination of flavors. The pancakes were some of the best I’ve had, and definitely the best in all of NYC so far. The cheddar biscuits, while overwhelmingly creamy, were exactly what I needed. Would highly recommend!! Can’t wait to come back.

I’ve only been here midweek and it’s never been too busy. There’s always tables available and they have the best pancakes I’ve ever ever had. All the other food I’ve had has been great too like their Turkish eggs (not sure if they’re still on the menu) and the Reuben. Makes it the perfect place to go with someone to get breakfast and share a plate of the pancakes.

Google
Cool neighborhood spot that dishes out impressive pancakes! I live in the neighborhood and frequent this place somewhat often and they are consistent. I got a good laugh reading the reviews and the responses from the owner. I personally never had any issues with service (even the times I came alone during a busy brunch service), but it’s clear there is a flow of service the restaurant tries to maintain to maintain quality service for its diners and staff. Food 4.5/5 Service 3/5 (staff are always surprisingly calm despite the hustle and bustle of weekend brunch service) Atmosphere 3.5/5

Nothing more you could want from diner-style restaurant (for brunch)! Arriving at like noon on a Saturday, we got in easily with no wait. The staff is quite attentive and easy to grab despite not having a specific server for the table. And the food! Yum! It was all delicious but the Turkish eggs takes the (pan)cake! The Turkish eggs was such a flavorful dish with perfectly poached eggs and oiled spices. Chef’s kiss. The avo toast was also really well balanced with chunky avo and firm bread. And the pancakes are the fluffiest!

Google
Overall rating: 4.9 As everyone else says the pancakes were littttt. I will definitely be coming back to try their other items. Hours mention 9am - 2pm, but they def start wrapping up at 1:45pm. I def felt a bit rushed coming around 1:15pm, so won’t be making that mistake again. Highly recommend! Worth having only you or a friend get an order of pancakes, and another person getting something else.

Disclaimer: My experience was during breakfast/brunch on a Saturday morning. First in for most. The outside of this place appears more elevated/elegant than the inside of this place. I’ve lived in the neighborhood for a couple of years now and always passed by this place daily. On this day a couple of us wanted to grab some breakfast at mikes coffee shop across the street but there was a 30 min wait and I was starving. So I decided to make a quick change and decided to go lulu&po. Dining was cafeteria style and inside decor reflected that. You go up to a counter to place your order and pay, then take a number to where ever you decide sit. It appears to be a typical diner but super over priced without the justification. I ordered the pancakes because I was told and also read it is a popular item. I was shocked to see it was $19 dollars for 3 plain pancakes so I was assuming there was something very special about it. I order it with some sliced banana which was $8 ( yes 8 bucks for an overly ripe banana). The pancakes were undercooked in the center with wet flour in every bite. Super overrated and the price isn’t worth the quality of the food or the experience You can get the same quality of breakfast if not better at Mikes for a fraction of the cost and feels like more of a real diner experience

Google
Nice little diner-style place. Order at the register and food is delivered to your table or seat at the counter. Stack of 3 pancakes order was huge, but they do offer stacks of 2 or just 1. Food came out really quick. Quality breakfast all around.

Google
Overall. Outstanding. Excellent ingredients balance and presentation. SUPER tasty stuff. Only downside was that the server had very poor manners and was basically throwing things down on the table and snatching things away, even though it was not hectic. She would even say a word or respond to anything I said. That was a bummer. Everyone and everything else in the restaurant was perfect. :)

Yelp
This review is for the brunch. This place has the best pancakes in Brooklyn, hands down. The service here is phenomenal; the staff is so kind and friendly. If you come there often enough AND happen to be kind, they will remember your name and talk with you. I feel like I found my "Cheers" spot. Now the pancakes. They are perfectly toasted on the outside, with crisp edges. They are buttery flavored and simultaneously dense + moist. They hold syrup well, so the pancake doesn't get soggy with syrup. It's really one of my favorite things to eat. I also really like the ambiance of the restaurant; it's very warm and cheery with tons of plants and I really like the natural light that comes in through the windows. Also, if you have the chance, you should order the sgrappiano. It's 1oz of vodka, some champagne, and lemon sorbetto. The sorbetto acts as a chaser and ice. one of my favorite drinks I've had this year.

Yelp
From the outside (and the name), you would think Lulu and Po was another below average brunch spot- but you would be wrong! The pancakes here may be the best I've ever had. They're huge, they're incredibly soft and fluffy, and they come with the biggest shmear of butter I've ever seen. (We also tried the chilaquiles which were delicious! The tortilla chips stayed crispy until the end of our meal. But really I'm here for the pancakes). The waiting system is surprisingly seamless too. They have you wait online outside and order/pay right when you walk in. So all you have to do is enjoy your delicious breakfast at your own pace and roll right out the front door to get back in bed. 10/10!

Yelp
Breakfast sandwiches are great. Will not be dining in here ever again, though. Service and attitude is trash. And you only realize it after tipping 18% on the iPad. All 2-guest parties are crammed by the wall when there is a whole half of the restaurant wide open empty. I was asked to move from the 3-seater table I was at (party of 2, not 3) to a bar stool crammed with other people. While there were 5 whole 3 seater tables free the entire time. I was asked to move "in case they got busy" "In case they got busy" what is your problem? Sure I understand if some of the 3 seaters were taken. I'll happily move if they start getting filled up. But there was 5 whole tables open still. They got people crammed shoulder to shoulder by the walls with a whole restaurant wide open. I don't know what kinda crazy lunch rush they were expecting at 1:30 while I finish my breakfast sandwich and coffee, but what an unbelievable nuisance. 8 people left while I ate. Not a single person came in. Rearrange your seating so it's comfortable for customers or remove your ridiculous seating rules. 2 stars for good breakfast. But you guys aren't Michelin. Go for takeout. Horrible dining experience.

Yelp
See I wasn't confused, they were expensive, pretentious, didn't do Togo for breakfast and now CLOSED PERMANENTLY The staff was nice but, they had comments about management... bye y'all

Yelp
My bf has been talking about Rosalu's breakfast sandwich nonstop since he first tried it a few months ago. We finally made time to go for a late lunch (fyi they close at 2pm!) and snagged the bar spot since most tables were full. It's not a huge place, but they also have a bench outside if you want to get takeout. I love how simple their menu is. I wanted to try something else, but he really insisted on the sandwich, so we got 1 with chorizo and 1 with bacon. They've recently raised prices though, so it's now at $11. Let me tell you. Both sandwiches were amazing. From the incredibly soft orwasher's potato bun, to the crispy hashbrown, and not tooo salty meats. This breakfast sandwich was perfection. Don't let its simple appearance fool you. One bite, and you'll be impressed. I did like the chorizo patty better than the bacon, but I'm also willing to try the regular sausage patty next time! I'd skip on the iced coffee, it tasted pretty burnt. But run, don't walk, for the sandwich!!

Yelp
Came here at 9 on a Saturday morning and it was a perfect start to the day. We ordered at the counter and then we got to pick our seats. The food (pancakes and chilaquiles) came out pretty quickly and the portions were a good size. Like everyone said, the pancakes were amazing - we got 2 instead of 3 and we thought that was enough for two. An odd comment but we thought the textures of the food all around were done really well. I would definitely come back here for a quiet, peaceful breakfast!

Victor M.

Yelp
Surprisingly un-pretentious but sophisticated. This is a great low-key romantic date spot. Did I say interesting cocktails and a matching playlist? It's a tricky balance that few places get right. They get it right. Well done. Like Arnold says, we'll be back

Katrina M.

Yelp
All I have to say is hands-up to the Chilaquilles!!!! So so so good!!! Ambience is cozy for a lazy Saturday hazy brunch.

Steve A.

Yelp
Better than average diner. It's not a greasy spoon. Rosalu Diner actually has some healthy things. Of course you can find plenty of fattening and unhealthy things like bacon and eggs. They however have a few items that are vegan. I had a drip coffee. It's $3 for a regular. They have non dairy milk including almond, oat, and soy. Also they have good food. Lots of healthy stuff. I had the Avocado Toast. It's about $10 for a couple of pieces. This comes with cherry tomatoes, chili flakes, olive oil, pickled red onions, and sea salt. For avocado toast, this has a generous amount of stuff they put on. There's many places where they have just mostly avocado with a few sprinkles of stuff. Good diner. I would stop by again for breakfast if there were more vegan options. The Avocado Toast hits the spot for a good brunch or lunch though.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had. Honestly from every angle you can think of, this restaurant has surpassed my expectations. The flavors, the creativity, ambiance and presentation, it was all fabulous. Service top notch, super friendly staff that's very attentive. Very excited to go back!

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Food is excellent and the staff are very relaxed and friendly. It's a nice local place to enjoy a cozy ambiance, run into some neighbors, and share delicious food.

Yelp
The best restaurant in the neighborhood. I am so excited Lulu & Po is back. The burger, lamb tartare, lentils, and Cesar salad are all incredible - but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Excellent date night and drinks.

Eugene G.

Yelp
Lulu & Po are no strangers to quality service and knowing how to make patrons feel their warm welcome, which boosts their cozy, wood centric atmosphere. I came here with some close friends last week on Wednesday and we ordered pancakes, eggs, sausage, and coffee. Everything was amazing, minus the pancakes I ordered. My friends got a 3 stack and I got a 2 stack. My friend's pancakes were a perfect golden brown and dense (they looked like something out of a Disney cartoon, that's how perfect they were). Mine on the other hand were significantly different due to the burn marks around the circular edge of the pancakes. I stuck to eating the middle of them as a way to make it work but it was hard to swallow; no pun intended; after seeing how perfect my friend's pancakes were. I plan to go back this Wednesday and order the pancakes again for a chance to get that golden brown goodness.

Marcella G.

Yelp
The pancakes are so good here! Only thing that's tricky is there are no substitutions allowed so it's a limited menu. There was a line when we arrived on a Sunday around 12pm we waited for about 20 minutes and then waited an extra 5 minutes because we wanted a table not seats at the counter

Kat S.

Yelp
This has been my favorite breakfast sandwich spot in Brooklyn, and since they've opened for dinner, it's also become my favorite dinner spot. For breakfast - sausage egg and cheese is a must. The chorizo is great too. For dinner - We enjoyed EVERYTHING on the menu - no bite left uneaten. Highlights include the lamb belly, scallion fish, utica greens, and the pot de creme. Amazing ambiance and service. I will be returning!!!!

Jordyn W.

Yelp
I have been to brunch at this restaurant multiple times. Typically, it's a 5 star experience -- good service and good food (especially the pancakes). Today, my partner and I showed up for brunch and it looks like the restaurant has closed (maybe permanently??). Another group showed up and seemed equally surprised that the place was closed. No warning, no update on either the website or the instagram page. We went back home hungry. My partner said he recently went with a friend for brunch & the employees were locking up the doors more than 30 min prior to closing time. Please communicate with your patrons!

Yelp
Portions were great pancakes were phenomenal service was subpar I get it. It is not Burger King so you can't have it your way as they have plastered all over their point of sale at the end of the day you were still in a customer service position where we give you money you give us food as long as both parties are respectful that should be the end of it. They are super entitled New York transplants working in the cafe espresso was subpar their chai was most likely just a concentrate. The only thing this place has going for itself is the pancakes. The ambience was OK. It's decorated like a secondhand IKEA sale I honestly almost never would do a review like this however, the treatment from the staff was asinine they spoke to us as if we were a burden and I am in the service industry as well I own two coffee shops and simply put their customer service was not up to standard I get treated better at a McDonalds by the projects

Mackenzie A.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at Rosalu today. The restaurant follows all COVID protocols, including proof of vaccination and full masking. They were consistent, which I really appreciate. The place is smaller (maybe room for 20 guests total?) and has a inviting diner feel. It was rainy outside so the outdoor dining was unavailable (although it is under a tent.) I ordered the Classic Breakfast sandwich which was SOOO crispy and delicious. The eggs were absolutely perfect and omg that hash brown. Yes. Then yes again. My iced mocha latte was more coffee than sweet which I appreciate. My friend ordered a burger which came with fries. This place has it all. A modest menu AND they make their own sodas?! Also, just FYI they have two single stall bathrooms. Woo! I can't wait to be a regular here.

Meredith A.

Yelp
I'm a little conflicted here. I came here Easter Day and wanted take out. They told me they were not doing take out that day, only Monday-Friday. So I had decided to have my mom who by the way has a lot pain and trouble walking to dine in. When we ordered they told me that there was one stack of pancakes per table. Ooooook, I did see a table with two people and they both had pancakes, but ok. Anyway, I said to myself the next time I will order the pancakes during the week to go for them. Well today was the day. Coming home from my night shift I figured I would surprise my mom and dad with some gooooood pancakes.. I ordered two stacks and two orders of bacon to go. After paying the lady comes out to tell me that she knows I just ordered pancakes but they are no longer doing take out for pancakes. She did inform me it is because it had been in such high demand that they are just doing it in-house. Now I would of preferred her to say well the cashier made a mistake and I will grant you the pancakes this time, but in the future we don't do the take out with the pancakes, but instead she did as if i wanted to replace it with something else. No because I really wanted to get them for my parents who are elderly and it is hard to get them to out. While I understand if you do it for one, you have to do it for all but, I was a little disappointed. I don't understand that if you know that you have great pancakes, and they are in high demand why not buy more flour and make more pancakes? and problem solved. Worse, I tried to call and nobody picked up just to see I I could have ordered ahead of time, but there was no answer. So now I came out my way and still got no pancakes. I hope in the future they decided to change this. Especially knowing that they are known for their pancakes. I have to admit they are soo soo good.

Brandon T.

Yelp
My experience here really felt like having breakfast at an airport Chili's. Food was ok, but being served on disposable plates with plastic silverware really just brought the airport feeling home. Not sure why this place has such a good rating. Plenty of better spots 5 minutes in any direction. PS. Make sure to check the laundry list of rules out front before sitting down or ordering.

Isa P.

Yelp
Lulu & Po is delicious, efficient, cozy and welcoming. I especially love the chilaquiles and steel cut oats!

Shana S.

Yelp
I love this place. I'm about to go here for my 5th out seven date nights with my husband, this time bringing friends. The food is fantastic, I personally think that the pricing is great (12-14 bucks for a cocktail at dinner?), the staff are really friendly and unpretentious, as is the place. I haven't been here for lunch yet, but as a mom of two babies right now, reading some of the reviews about the strollers is a bit annoying, as is about ignoring a restaurants' written and communicated rules, and then yelping about it. I almost never write reviews, and I don't cavalierly write them when I have a bad experience because it just to me means you're ready to put out your singular experience with your singular context, and get pissed if someone (the owner) adds their own. Reading them actually help me decide to write this. When a new restaurant comes in it doesn't mean it's going to turn into whatever you want it to be. If you can't deal with some reasonable rules, then you probably shouldn't go out or do but nobody's going to really want you. This is just being entitled.

Kristina S.

Yelp
I really love this restaurant from the bottom of my heart, especially the dinner service which is WAY less busy than brunch and truly some of the best food in BK. Every dish is always outstanding.

Marissa S.

Yelp
I have to be honest - I live super close and have always just walked on by, thinking there couldn't have been anything thaaaaat special about this place. But today... today, I tried a classic egg breakfast sandwich and was absolutely delighted. The bun was fluffy and perfect, the fried egg looked like it would leak all over after one bite and yet it was perfectly unmessy without being dry or overcooked. And the hashbrown... so crispy and delicious. Why don't all breakfast sandwiches have a hashbrown on them???? Thanks, Rosalu! Great breakfast.

Rhonda A.

Yelp
Had the pancakes & frittata.. soooo good. The pancakes were phenomenal. Also great atmosphere. A new local favorite! Highly recommend

Starlove S.

Yelp
Amazing foods and superb services! We pick this restaurant to celebrate my milestone life event and aren't wrong!! We loved creative dishes (+ great cocktails). We will certainly return!

Yelp
Came in for lunch with some friends about a month ago around 1:15 and we were told we couldn't dine in because they closed at 2. That was fine even though lunch doesn't have table service and our food came out about 10 minutes after we ordered, so we definitely would've been done before they started closing. But no big deal. I was planning on ordering the chilaquiles because I have a wheat allergy and it was one of the only things on the menu I could eat. When I ordered, I was told I could not get the chilaquiles to go because they didn't have the proper to go containers for chilaquiles. So instead, I ordered the breakfast platter which was 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, a hash brown, and toast. This came in a to-go container which would've been completely acceptable for chilaquiles, in my opinion, but I understand that's their policy for some reason. I could not eat the toast because of my allergy so I ended up paying $15 + tax and tip for a meal that left me unsatisfied. I went back today for lunch, an hour and a half before they closed, excited to finally try the chilaquiles. Realized right away that the menu changed and they were no longer serving chilaquiles. That's fine, I decided to get the Turkish eggs. On the menu they're listed as "poached eggs, allepo oil, dill yogurt," which are all ingredients that I can eat. As I was ordering, my friend told me it comes with bread (even though it does not have that as a listed ingredient on the printed menu) so I asked if I could just not get the bread. I was told no, I said I have an allergy. I was told no again, so I asked if I could just get the bread on the side. They went to the kitchen to ask the owner if I could do that and came back and said no again, no substitutions. Even though I wasn't asking for a substitution. Also, on the bottom of the menu it says to talk to servers about any food allergies. But why????? If you're literally going to make it impossible for me to eat any of your food. They suggested that I just "eat around" the bread, which is just a non-suggestion. So now the only options were the breakfast plate that I got last time that wasn't worth my money, a mushroom omelette (I don't like mushrooms or I would've happily gone with an omelette), and a Caesar salad. The salad was listed as "little gem, parm, anchovies, lemon, garlic." Caesar salads usually have croutons or breadcrumbs so I asked to make sure it didn't since that wasn't listed on the menu. The server went to the kitchen again to ask the owner and came back saying "he'll make an exception and not include breadcrumbs just this one time but it won't happen again." For a restaurant SO unwilling to accommodate food allergies, you should remove that clause on your menu and have every ingredient listed on your menu. At MINIMUM there should be a key to tell you which foods are gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, etc. I'm very low-maintenance when it comes to ordering at restaurants with my allergy. I always stick to dishes that I know won't have wheat in them instead of being difficult and asking for substitutions. Reading through other reviews I can see that many other people have issues with the ridiculous rules as well. The owner is extremely defensive and stubborn in all of his replies. Will never be coming back, and I'm sure he'll be happy about that.

Doug H.

Yelp
The menu is precious and twee, as if they were trying too hard to be innovative. Not likely to return.

Sabrina C.

Yelp
Family and I visited for weekday brunch. We ordered the Classic Breakfast, Monte Cristo sandwiches, coffee and genmai cha tea. All delicious and satisfying-- but the Monte Cristo is where it's at!! It had the texture of a donut with the substance of a savory ham sandwich, and the raspberry jam is not to be skipped. A head-to-head match between Rosalu's Monte Cristo and Cousin John's eggs benedict would be the brunch smackdown of the century. Service is welcoming and the vibe is chill. Love walking by at night when the fairy lights are on.

Kingston B.

Yelp
Good brunch spot in Brooklyn. Very busy. This is definitely a popular spot. We needed to wait about 20 mins for a table but it was worth it. I had the Mushroom Hash. Side of grits. The hash was very good. It came with 2 poached eggs. I will say the eggs were closer to hard boiled than what I want with a poached egg. Other than that, no complaints.

Emmett G.

Yelp
The diner is one of a handful to be set up in this spot across the street from Pratt Institute. I stopped in for a late breakfast, and immediately thought the prices were a little on the high side (which would be understandable if this place is just starting). I ordered a Classic Breakfast, switching out the bacon/sausage for avocado. The eggs were excellently prepared, and the whole grain toast not overdone. The food so far is good, but I feel underwhelmed so far. They are also raising the safety protocol, checking vaccination cards and serving in disposable plates. Since I'm at Pratt every week, I will give Rosalu a second shot.

Desiree M.

Yelp
I went for proximity and star rating. The guy behind the counter was kind, quick and friendly. The place was very clean. The food was just below mediocre. Eggs tasted like they had come from a carton and the home fries was a Deep fried hash brown. My wife had a club sandwich and the French fries were really good. We dined in. I was thrown off by the amount of waste. All the plates, eating utensils and cups were plastic/paper disposable. Even for those dining in. Cups came with plastic lids and a straw. Seemed excessive for an iced tea. I can understand if I was taking the food to go, but dining in and seeing everyone in the restaurant receiving all plastic and throwing it out just seemed unnecessarily wasteful. I personally will not be returning to this spot.

John M.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now and, although the food is solid, my experiences are always ruined by the angry owner/manager man who stands in the corner pretending to read a newspaper while he watches over you. He has a strange set of rules for the place that you will inevitably break by simply existing and then be subsequently scolded. There's a cold tension spread across the restaurant as people try desperately to eat their food without somehow breaking one of the mean man's rules. When I finally summon the courage to leave my seat to get some maple syrup, I feel immediate regret as he watches my every step, just waiting for a rule to be broken. I'm done with Rosalu, or Lulu and Po, or whatever this place is. Mike's across the street is all you need.

Kasia T.

Yelp
Excellent food - want to come back. Sauces and flavors were intriguing, portion size was good. Very nice and down to earth

Emma L.

Yelp
THE BALD MANAGER IS SO UNWELCOMING, WITH NO IDEA HOW TO TREAT BOTH PAYING CUSTOMERS, AND PEOPLE IN GENERAL. the food is genuinely good which makes me upset because I do not like supporting this place specifically because of the rude manager/ man who works there. I'm so serious I've been there countless times and he is always rude, not only to my group/ people I'm with but to other groups. Additionally, he yelled at me a few weeks ago for sitting outside of the diner. I saw other reviews complaining about the same thing. Great food, terrible terrible few workers (the younger kids that work there are very sweet I'm not coming for them)

Jesse H.

Yelp
Perhaps the only good thing to come out of quarantine was finding this gem of a diner. Their breakfast sandwiches are absolute dynamite. Melted cheese, crispy hash brown and the perfect runny egg - you really can't crave anything else on a Saturday morning.

Chris W.

Yelp
We just grabbed a really great lunch here. The restaurant was packed at noon on a Saturday. We grabbed two excellent glasses of cold brew from the counter while we waited ten minutes for a table. I ordered the impossible burger and my boyfriend ordered the monte cristo sandwich. I asked the waiter to add cheese to my burger, but instead I received avocado which ended up being a happy accident. The avo was perfectly ripe and it was a huge portion (half of a decent sized avocado). The impossible burger patty was well cooked (still juicy inside--I've cooked impossible burgers before and they're easy to overcook) and the special sauce was delightful. Burgers come with a side of excellent hand cut fries--crispy, hot and salty. My bf enjoyed the monte cristo. I don't eat meat so I didn't get to try it. He said the sandwich ranked up there with his favorite monte cristo (from Disneyland in California! Ha!). There was a small mishap with the order (the waiter initially brought out a cheeseburger before realizing he put in the wrong order). He was very apologetic and took the monte cristo off the bill--which was totally unnecessary but appreciated. 5 stars for the delicious food and coffee. Other reviewers seem to have issue with the prices. Definitely a bit on the higher end for "diner" food but I think the quality matches the price. The restaurant is new and still finding its sea legs so I'm sure the small service issues will work themselves out in time.

The Q.

Yelp
Food is very freaking good. The pancakes are so yummy with crispy edges.. But there have been so many times I left Bushwick to come here and it was closed. Literally the worst hours ever. During the week they close at 2pm.

Sophie Z.

Yelp
Rosalu Diner is a gem in the Clinton Hill/Fort Greene area. It is so cute, with vintage touches in the decor and furniture. I go every few days before work for a coffee, or hot apple cider. The pre-made breakfast is phenomenal- I believe it's an egg and cheese on a cheddar biscuit. They sell out fast. The baristas are always lovely and they have a punch card for those who frequent for coffee. Love Rosalu!!

Grace K.

Yelp
Does anyone know why the staff is so mean? LOL. I've been here 3 times and am flabbergasted by how it seems like they hate every customer. Food is great though that's for sure

Food Jerk X.

Yelp
Great spot across from Pratt--I believe it was previously Clermont Park Cafe, which was a little more diner-like. While it remains a diner, they've definitely kicked the food up a notch or two. The pancakes are huge, and there's three of them. Fluffy and tasty, it's a man-sized portion. The egg bacon and cheese sandwich is really good too. Egg over medium was nice and runny, while the patty-style hash brown was nice and crispy. We also ordered the Classic Breakfast with two eggs and sausage. Also comes with a tasty hash brown. They offer covered outdoor seating. Coffee was good and service extra friendly. We'll be back!

Yelp
Sweet little coffee shop now turning into a more upscale dinner place. I love to stop in for a drip coffee and pastry (not house made) before work, looking forward to trying the dinner menu as well. Friendly staff.

Yelp
The food itself is lovely. I've had some of their sandwiches and many of their entrees. Sometimes they rotate and they have good coffee too. In fact, I've been coming here for nearly 2 years. I was a loyal customer until my recent visit. The manager who runs the place has gotten progressively ruder and hostile to the customers who are coming in intending to pay. There are kinder and more serviceable ways to go about informing guests that seating is no longer available than screaming at a customer and shooing them out the door. They don't do take out, either. Instead of politely informing the guests that they are either closing or at max capacity, he rudely ushers them out. I've seen this happen multiple times to other customers as well over the past several months, but being on the receiving end of it was enough for me to abandon my patronage. I will say, the rest of the young staff are lovely and even apologize on his behalf. Sad!

Yelp
Breakfast sandwiches! Avo toast! It's all killer. The team is friendly and quick, the menu is clearly led by a capable chef. Space is very comfortable to grab a quick bite or for a longer brunch. We love to see it.

Yelp
A great little diner. The menu is centered on classic diner dishes, but it's not your traditional greasy spoon fare (they have Impossible Burgers and oat milk). Refreshingly, they haven't gone in for Norman Rockwell nostalgia trip decor, nor have they done the punishing minimalism thing either. Just a sweet, sharp-looking little spot with lots of nice details, serving well-executed versions of diner classics. I'm very happy it's here.

Yelp
So this is breakfast like my great grandmother would have made. Call it 'upscale' if you want, but it's not frou frou. Chef Mike is a big burly cook shelling out pancakes made with organic butter and eggs. Yeah, butter that came from a cow that ate grass. Eggs that someone gathered from hens that saw sunlight. Maple syrup from an actual maple tree, not leftover corn with a little flavoring. Remember farm food? The ham is ham, like from a pig someone raised and gave a name. Sad but delicious. And the coffee is Irving Farms, roasted right here in New York, and for my money, the best there is. When I eat at Rosalu's, which is every damned day, I feel a little tougher, stronger, and more alive. I feel like someone cared when they loaded my plate, like my great grandfather got up at 5am for those eggs, churned that butter, slaughtered that ham, and brewed that coffee to keep him alert, which it did 'til he died at a cantankerous old age of nearly 90 with an axe in his hand at the woodpile on his own land, just the way he wanted. Eating here is badass good. It's jump up and slap your momma good. This is New York food, from New York farms, and a New York treat. Some tips: try everything. Little nuances are everywhere, from the lavender soda, to the pecan sticky buns, to the texture of the hashbrowns, to the rye of the Reuben. Try a flat white, and tell me that isn't the best damned cup of coffee you've had in a while. Say hullo when you're there. You'll probably see me shoving forkfuls into my face at the counter.

Yelp
The Rosalu Diner is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and highly recommended. We were all a bit perplexed when the Clinton Park Cafe shut seemingly overnight with no explanation. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the chicken souvlaki platter I ordered almost every time there.  Rosalu has a nice vibe, a spruced up and more modern diner. It's got a nice airy feel to it and it's pleasant enough. Nothing too special. Will be great to see some Pratt strident art or photos over time (I believe they were soliciting before opening). The service was great, but we were there at a slower time.  The house coffee is legit - Irving Farm. Bottomless and perfect. The wife had a matcha latte and was very pleased.  The food was pretty darn good. We got the shrimp and grits and vege (impossible) burger. Both were very yummy. Portions tend to the smaller side. Side of bacon was very perfect.  We'd love to see the menu expand a bit over time.  It's a bit pricey for what it is - the only real gripe we had.  A great first visit and we will certainly be back.

Yelp
I'll confess that, before the pandemic, I was ambivalent about raving about this place bc it's such a perfect neighborhood diner and it was starting to get really busy. Now that they've had to scale down a bit I've decided to finally write a review bc I really want them to succeed. It's a real privilege to have this place nearby. They do everything great.
