Staple of Chicago Style, great food, great service, witty owner, sport memorabilia spot. Fresh, hot delicious food. Plenty of free parking, large dining room. Hands down best Italian beef in town. DON’T miss out.

Italian beef was small for the price. Not a lot of flavor to the meat. It wasn't bad it was decent, probably won't order again. Everyone was friendly, lots of parking room, nice mural on building.

They were friendly and the prices were really good. It was also great that they were open so late. I kinda expected a little more from the hot dogs, but hey they hit the spot. Most of all, the owner was so friendly that I want to continue supporting his business. Come and bring your family to this fun local spot.

Went for Chicago Dogs & Chili Cheese Dog w/ chopped onions. The bun was stale on the Chicago dog. The ingredients were less than fresh. I got a piece of a pickle. I didn’t even try the chili cheese dog in which they didn’t add the chopped onions I requested. Service was good and the place is clean. But I won’t recommend or return. The fries were good though!!! 8.5/10!!

I’ve been so many times in the 90s with my father. It’s been quite a while I haven’t been there. I love their chili dog and their double cheeseburgers are the best in the city. I always love their decorations of sports. Since I’m White Sox fan.

Before I moved to Chicago when I would come to town, this was a must! It's got free parking, classic Chicago memorabilia, cool murals, and affordable and tasty classic burger spot food. My favorite thing about Lulu's beside the prices is the wide variety of food from bbq to dogs. Only thing I can say bad is that the food isn't spectacular, but it's fairly customizable to your preferences.

What up Yelpers. It's the fat boy back again. Well here's a review I hate to leave but I have to be straight up. I see LuLu's EVERYDAY heading to work and since I've been trying hot dogs around the city I couldn't wait to try this place. It's very clean inside. You can choose to eat indoors or outdoors. The Service was good. The gentlemen were very nice. But I came for the hot dogs. They have a daily hot dog special 2 hot dogs w/ fries $6.98 not bad so I got 2 Chicago hotdogs & a chili cheese dog w/ chopped onions. You would think that a hotdog spot wouldn't drop the ball on a Chicago dog. I mean how can you screw up Vienna Beef Hot Dogs? But these guys did. The bun was stale to start with. The ingredients weren't too good. The tomato wasn't fresh & the pickle spear??? Well it was a piece of pickle. They need to work on what they're putting out as their product. The chili cheese dog.... SMH the thing looked pitiful and to mention they didn't add the chopped onions I requested. The Chicago dog was so bad that I didn't even bother tasting the chili cheese dog (it didn't look appetizing) the fries however were great! Nicely salted, hot & fresh. All in all I wouldn't return or recommend. 8.5/10 service 1/10 Chicago Dog 0/10 Chili Cheese Dog 8/10 Fries I was very disappointed to say the least. I didn't even bother to take a photo of the signage. (Remember all reviews are subjective)

Exactly what I want from a traditional old school hot dog stand. I ordered the Chicago Style Hot dog and there is very few places where you can get a dog with all the trimmings, fries and a drink for under $8. The service was quick and friendly. They had my order ready in less than 2 minutes. A call-out to the fun murals outside the building. A nice added touch.

Chili had beans.... Which is a death sentence in the world of chili dogs and it tasted like canned Hormels...How do you mess up a Vienna hot dog?....Dog tasted like it's been sitting in water all day...no snap, nothing...and the bun was stale as get out...Fries we're undercooked and limp....and it's empty here....0h how he mighty have fallen..,,

Had a chili dog, fries and mozzarella sticks from here. It was good but they forgot to add my cheese to chili cheese dog. Prices are good too compare to other places.

Grabbed a bite at Lulu's with a friend after class and it was pretty good. The prices were cheap and I didn't expect much at first, but the food was actually really good. The place is filled with Chicago canon events and is fast-paced. Would go back again to try a burger for sure :)

I've been here twice and haven't been disappointed. The guys behind the counter make you feel like family. Or at least like you're a regular customer who's been coming there for years. This time I ordered the Black Bean veggie burger. The picture is not an exaggeration, it's almost as big as my head. I plan on going back and trying out all of their vegetarian and seafood options.

I was in Chicago with several friends for Riot Fest, and Lulu's just so happened to be right in between our Airbnb and the festival grounds at Douglass park. We passed Lulu's many times, with their bright, beguiling signs -- promises of fully loaded dogs and lunch special bargains. It was not long before two of our party fell prey to the hunger surges that follow a full day of music and beer (and when your food options are limited due to no re-entry!) Two of my friends managed to grab Lulu's while walking back from Riot Fest right when the gates weee being closed. In the first of many indications of Lulu's hospitality, they sated my two friends' desperate hunger with dogs and sodas on a lovely weekend night. I, upon the next morning hearing of their escapade, was immediately consumed with envy. I determined I would persue Lulu's posthaste, and indeed after confirming their hours with a phone call (Google said they were closed but they weren't) shortly henceforth found myself also darkening the doorstep of that fine establishment, Lulu's. I ordered the two dog lunch special with curly fries and a medium pop. Can I mention, full lunch and bev for pennies over $11 including all charges? That's a deal. I had my dogs fully loaded as per the Windy City style. The two men working behind the counter that day were both very kind and polite. They made me feel welcome at Lulu's. The only other thing I saw that day was that this place isn't as packed as it deserves to be!! Grab it before the secret's out. Lulu's: it's for the dogs.

First time coming here. Wanted a place to grab something to eat before heading to the Hawks game downtown. This place was absolutely a perfect spot. Located at a busy intersection, this place has tons of great hot dog options as well as burgers and so much more. I stuck with a veggie dog with fries, as well as a black bean burger. The price I paid was not bad at all! Made in reasonable time too. Decent bathrooms and dining area. Great food and staff.

Weak dog, but the chili was nice and hearty on an unseasonably cold Chicago afternoon. Full of meat and thick. Would return for the "Home Made Chili" as advertised on the building. Not sure they are following through on the Vienna Beef dogs, though. Fun very neighborhood vibe. Southside all the way.

I bookmarked this restaurant sometime ago after seeing its character that looked similar to 1930's character Lulu featured on 'The Little Lulu Show' pictured on its building. Now living on the west-side of Chicago; prior to this visit I contemplated visiting Lulu's Hot Dogs for months since discovering how close I lived from it. In the area at the time of this visit, I researched restaurants only to find that Lulu's was within a mile which made it an option I chose for lunch. Lulu's has that takeout restaurant feel, yet there are an ample amount of tables & seats for dine-in which I didn't expect prior to visiting. During my visit I had no intentions on dining-in, but I did love that college football was being showcased on their televisions which was a plus, as I'am a die-hard college football fan. The menu at Lulu's consists of a range of hot-dogs & polish; burgers & sandwiches, fish, ribs, and even a small portion of veggie selections for vegans. Out of all featured on their menu I ordered the Catfish sandwich w/ fries despite the 2-Piece Perch Platter initially catching my eye. As for the food, the fries were decent! Eatable and also didn't make it out of the parking lot with me which is all I can ask for, hehe. And as for the Catfish sandwich, other than the sub-sandwich style bread being thick, the catfish was tasty. It probably would have been better with regular bread versus that sub-sandwich style bread, but that is my recommendation to Lulu's. As for the service, I have no complaints; it was smooth and I received my order in a timely manner, even though there weren't many customers ahead of me. I love Lulu's restaurant hours because it is open late enough for you to pick up late night takeout at a time when other restaurants are closed. Do I recommend, Lulu's Hot Dogs? Yes, indeed! Their combo meal prices are affordable, sizes are filling, and parking is plentiful. Thomas G

**NOTE: This review is for my visit on October 28th, 2019, at which time Lulu's was transformed into the Nike's "Sport Changes Everything" pop-up** I came here to support my friend Monyett, who was teaching some beginner dance classes as part of the Nike "Sport Changes Everything" campaign. Nike installed a "Chicago Style" pop-up at Lulu's and featured several athletes at the pop-up. I've never been to Lulu's prior to the pop-up, so again, keep in mind that I have no idea what it looks like without the pop-up decorations. But man, Nike really did a number on this restaurant and TRULY made it Chicago style. Everywhere you could go was covered from ceiling to floor in Nike and Chicago memorabilia. It made me super warm and fuzzy inside; as a pure-bred Chicagoan that's lived in the same house at Belmont and Western all 26 years of my existence, the pop-up really encapsulated everything I love about this city. The parking lot was also transformed into a basketball court. There's a fantastic, colorful mural on the back wall that you can see in the photos I've attached. The basketball court itself is super colorful as well, and that's where the dance classes were held. Everyone attending the class got a free voucher for a meal, so I did get to try some of Lulu's food. I got the Chicago style hot dog, fries, and a drink: classic Chicago diner meal. It was great. Obviously you don't go to a spot like this in Chicago for gourmet hot dogs, so I wasn't expecting too much. Despite being so busy from the pop-up, service was quick and the hot dog itself was just Chicago hot dog perfection. Can't complain in that regard! If I'm in the area, I'll definitely make sure to check Lulu's out again even after the pop-up. But if you are reading this, the Nike pop-up is open at Lulu's until 11/4: go check it out and see everything for yourself!

I haven't been back to Lulu's in years. First, started eating here in the mid-1980's when I was a student. I loved it back then, and I love it still. The gents behind the counter are fun and friendly and really liven up the joint! So glad familiar neighborhood places like Lulu's keep it going!

Can't decide if I loved their witty service or the yummy hot dogs! Either way, loved this place!! From start to finish! Must try!!

Super good stuff. Lookin for a classic? Sure, come on down. Although their hot doesnt have snap to it- it does have all the right ingredients and they got the classic lemonade for a complete and solid meal. PS their fries are so nice! Eat while their hot within five minutez dont wait, so u can get the best experience

The food is average. I tend to go to this place once every 6 months. That's about how long it takes for me to forget why I don't go there often. The staff is nice but they have this sarcastic way about themselves it's pretty annoying. I ordered a hot dog with fries. I walk 1 block back to my office and my food was cold and so was my workers. So they more than likely gave me warm food to begin with. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I stopped in "Lulu's" before my interview at the nearby neighborhood. Well, you know "Lulu's" sounds like a nice name for pets, or I should say, a Chicago-style dog that's tasty. I went for their "2 hot dog combo," which came with fries. For $5.25 plus tax (as of 02/21/2017), it was as good as I could get in the city. The only negative for me was the fries were a bit dry. However, with two (2) dogs in my belly, I was good to go. Apparently, "Lulu's" accepts credit cards, but there's an ATM in the dining room available just in case you like to keep some green bucks on hand. The service was super quick. I barely put my change away as the gentleman at the pick-up station called me and handed me the brown bag. Parking is also beyond plenty. "Lulu's" is located on the corner of Taylor and Ogden as part of the Illinois Medical District. It's further west from the popular Taylor St. "Little Italy" area. Looking for an affordable meal? This may be what you've been searching for.

This was the perfect place to go after a Blackhawk's game. Easy parking, plenty of space inside, and a large menu. Between two people we got an italian beef, 2 hot dogs with everything, and two orders of fries with cheese. Came out to $18 with a drink, so very reasonable priced!! Service was quick and the guy at the counter was very nice. Food wasn't the best I ever had, but there wasn't really anything to complain about. It was still delicious. I'd definitely come again the next time I'm in the area.

I love their beef polishes and cheese burgers plus the men that work there are so nice & give good customer service Portillos have nothing on Lulu's

I ordered a catfish dinner...OMG why it's so disgusting & I just wasted almost $8.00 of this crap. It's fried so hard and dark. My garlic bread is even burnt I'm so upset. I gave a 2 because I've eaten other items that were so much better but this is the first today & I'm disappointed & hungry......I tried adding lemon pepper & hot sauce but it's still terrible.

Chicago dogs were good and at a very reasonable price. However, the dogs and fries were a bit soggy. The dog started to fall apart the longer it took to eat. Fries were plain. Overall this is a decent option/value, but probably not something I'd go out of my way to try

Garbage! I knew this was a grease spot but most grease spots are decent if not good. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with fries and drink. I paid $7 and some change. I get into my car and drive off. As I get home, I see it's a grilled, non seasoned dry chicken patty. No flavor and it's quite disgusting. The lettuce looked like it was 2 days over it's expiration. The fries were bland with zero salt. The pop tasted like seltzer water. The people working their are more focused in making stupid, not so funny jokes with each other. This place serves crappy, cheap food. I think they buy the cheapest crap food around because they know most people around this area, and the employees at the juvenile detention center across the street, will buy and eat it. Disgusting. You might as well eat McDonald's. ShitFood.

I've been a customer since 1997, the owners and staff are my extended family. The only Italian beef and sausage is the very best in Chicago. I highly recommend you try the food......... Love them to the Moon and back.

The guys that work there are great but they messed up my order twice. This place also has great shakes that are similar to a Frosty from Wendy's. The large s HUGE! So don't go there with high expectations & it's fine for what it is.

Got my first Italian beef sandwich here. It was absolutely incredible. I wasn't really sure how to order it but they explained it pretty well (and in an expeditious manner because people were waiting) the gravy from it being dipped and the hot peppers on top took me to a different world! If you're in the area again I'd give them a try.

Burger was fantastic! It was gigantic and had great flavor. Fries were amazing as well, will definitely be ordering from Lulu's again!

Love the guys behind the counter. Very nice first visit. Chocolate shake is nice and think and very chocolately......will definitely have to come back and try their beefs. But, the hot dog is awesome!

Get their hotdog special! Can't go wrong with that value. The guys behind the counter are hilarious too. It's quite the entertainment as you wait in line. Just sit back and listen and you'll be entertained. Definitely a local gem.

Hot dogs and fries were good. The cheeseburger was terrible, thought the patty was going to be fresh it was frozen and it was probably the worst I've ever had and I've had some bad burgers

They are falling off... Simply because the new crew. Italian beef isn't the same Fries aren't either It's like the passion is gone, the love and the Responsibility to hold the torch isn't present. It's just a job the new crew

Why cant I find a beef in the city to satisfy my beef craving??? Something was off or I was hungry before when I originally rated the place. The fries tasted redropped and weird today. The beef was ok, made as requested and hot temp wise, but it wasn't good. Wasn't what my previous review rated as a 4. Oh well back to my fave Johnnies!!!

We love this neighbourhood joint we frequent it quite often and the shrimp basket is amazing. Highly recommend if you're craving this type of food to check it out if you're in the area.

You gotta be kidding me. A grilled barbecued turkey leg with a mountain of fries (and garlic bread) and a drink for less than $4.89. This is 2010, Baby, what's the catch? There is no catch! Ya' just gotta boogie down to Ogden Avenue. One of my jobs has me down in that neighborhood for long stretches on Saturdays. Today's breakfast was their 2 hot dogs (trimmings and fries) for $4.00. Perfect way to start the day. Dinner was this turkey leg dinner. Now I will try anything at a restaurant - anything. But the idea of a turkey leg meal for 4 bucks seemed too good to be true... or was it... I sat and waited for just a few minutes and was pleasantly surprised when I was handed my white Styrofoam container of heaven. This leg was succulent and delicious - not gamy and dry like a turkey can be. I - uncharacteristically - savored each bite (as opposed to wolfing it down like starving urchin). It was culinary highlight of 2010 (so far). The guys that run LULU'S are old-school guys from the neighborhood. They are polite and friendly - in a gruff kind of way. Everyone knows everyone and asks about the family. It is rare - these days - to be treated so well in a hot dog joint (except Donald Duk's on Ashland - but that is a different story) . These guys were like old buddies who were cooking your dinner. I have only one complaint is the seating areas has tables with affixed chairs - they do swivel out - but they are not built for tubby diners like myself. I had to do a little shimmy-shake to get into the comfort zone to enjoy my meal. They have regular specials - price busting deals - great service - awesome Chicago-centric art/photos on the wall. If you haven't been there yet - yo ureally gotta get in there. I'll see you there...

Decent frozen fries. Ordered the Polish special, OMG, worst piece of meat I've ever had. It was like eating air. No flavor, no taste, not even bland. And the onions were even worse. Grilled translucent air. I will never go back. Did love the city memorabilia!

Hungry and looking for a place with all the gritty feel of a Chicago detective story? Lulu's is pure Chicago - hot dogs ('everything' does not include ketchup which every Chicagoan knows!), Polish sausage, Italian beef, and meatball sandwiches - served up fast and hot. There's plenty of parking and a large dining area that's kept clean and tidy. Everyone from cops on the beat, docs from nearby County Hospital, neighborhood locals, and university students file in and out of Lulu's for good, inexpensive, authentic Chicago west-side dining. Hours: Monday - Thursday 10A - 11P Friday and Saturday 10A - 1A Sunday 10A - 10P.

I come to this area often and was looking for a local hot dog/polish spot I can visit regularly. Been here a couple times and I have had great food and service each time I went. There is parking, which is a number 1 in my book! We will definitely be be returning :)

I love Lulu's cause this had been my go to place for hot dogs. I recently went in here and ordered their Hotdogs with fries and trimmings. I was disappointed because it was all lukewarm. The hot dogs still taste good even if it is not hot but the fries are soggy. I hope it would be better next time. The prices are cheap and affordable and the food tastes good that even if my previous experience is not entirely nice I would still love to go in here.

This place... WOW. The quality of food for the price is great. Their hot dogs are pretty standard. Can't really mess up a hot dog. Their special is pretty good - 2dogs chicago style and fries for $5. What sets this place apart is their Italian Beef. It's the best I've had. Better than Al's beef in my opinion! The beef is perfectly cooked, tender, warm, and is paired perfectly with the jous. Add some pepper and celery salt... perfection. Oddly enough this place makes good gyros, ribs, and milkshakes also! Great hole in the wall place. The service is friendly. Every time I walk in the man behind the counter takes the time to talk to me while he's making my food. Great place!

You're in for a treat! I live in the neighborhood and for the first time, and most certainly not the last, I had a chance to familiarize myself with this great establishment! I've came in a couple times shortly after my first visit and I'm very happy Lulu's is so close to home! I should mention that I'm a vegetarian and I do have a ton of Food Restrictions, shout-out to Lulu's for catering to vegetarians! I'm a very happy returning customer! Let me start off with the staff. These guys are great, very welcoming, and full of conversation! They totally add great character to the place and they know what they're doing. The lunch hour can get really busy but the long line is no match for these guys, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes! Even if you are a meat eater I would totally recommend trying their Black Bean Burger! Again, these guys know what they are doing... This burger is amazing! I've been around Chicago's Veggie Burger Block and Lulu's has pushed it's way to the top of my list! This patty is packed full of flavor, it's huge, and always made to perfection! Oh and you gotta order a Slushee, takes me back to my childhood every time! My Boyfriend raves about the Cheese Beef & The Italian Beef, there are never any leftovers! Check this place out for yourself and dine in at least once and see why people keep coming back! Leave the stuffy expectations at home! And lastly Lulu's truly "gives you more for your money"!

What can I say about Lu Lu's? The hot dogs? Delicious. The milkshakes? So thick you'll feel like you'll pop an eye out of place trying to suck it through a straw. Word to the wise...get a spoon. When I was there, it was only one other person ahead of me. I thought the service was friendly and inviting and I like when my food is made to order. It's never a bad time to pop in and grab a bite.

The best Italian beef sandwich and iconic place to get authentic dogs. The guys working the counter are witty and you'd better know how to order! And for God's sake don't order ketchup with your fries! Seriously though the food was fantastic!
