I swear it took ten years to complete the Luna Cocina building - so what's the scoop? Honestly, it was mostly amazing.
Luna Cocina sits on busy Perkins Rd, but even during rush hour, it felt laid back, restful, not noisy at all. We sat in the rooftop area, which is adequately shady and breezy - genuinely delightful on a March evening. I started with a house margarita and it was delicious, perfectly tangy and sweet and salty. The queso which followed was genuinely the best I've EVER had - smooth, spicy, with a lovely smoky flavor that complemented the crisp, fresh-tasting chips.
My husband and I split two entrees - the Pick3 Taco Plate and the Blue Crab Enchiladas. The mushroom taco was the top of the three tacos. The crispy fish taco was indeed crispy and tender, but a little too salty and it just...needed something. The barbacoa taco was good, but again, too salty.
But oh, the blue crab enchiladas made up for everything. Under a creamy red sauce, they were everything enchiladas should be - soft, cheesy, bursting with flavor. Please get them. I promise you won't regret it.
Both dishes were served with Spanish rice and refried beans. The beans were great, but the rice, dotted with capers and faintly smoky, was exceptional.
We went to Luna Cocina quite early in the evening, so service was initially a bit spotty, but when our lovely waitress arrived, service went from medium to perfect. All in all, a lovely evening. Highly recommend.
