Modern Mexican with rooftop views and late hours in the Overpass corridor. Introduced by 225 Magazine, Luna pairs fajitas and tacos with playful touches like margarita jello shots—great for sunset drinks before a night out.

DONT DO IT!! If you are truly a foodie, go ahead and skip this place. El paso serves more authentic food than this. We just spent WAY too much on the worst meal I've had in forever. It had decent reviews and we were working nearby so we decided to give it a try. The pineapple mango salsa was lame, literally cut up fruit (about $2 worth for way too much) salsa tastes like beans. Food is cooked in what tastes like soybean oil. Shrimp in fajitas tasted like twice frozen seafood. The chili rellno had rice and corn, barely a spec of cheese. Lamb was covered in tendons, making it difficult to eat and broccoli had NO FLAVOR. Gaucomole was average...I guess maybe if you're drinking margaritas all day, this food may taste good, but I am so disappointed and now still hungry. Tea tastes like it just came out of the soda machine. If you like fresh food, drive right by this... to anywhere else. Staff was nice- quick and friendly. Restaurant looked clean and inviting.

Lots have posted on the vibe and I agree that’s it’s stellar. Especially sitting upstairs outside in the bar area. Not too many days left of this weather. The menu is varied with several authentic items you won’t find at Superior grill. Service is great. The lamb chops are OMG worthy. Will definitely be back and encourage you to do so as well.

First off, the place was trifling. I chairs were gross & table cloths were stained as well. I didn’t mind it because i’m like they close at 10 and we are pulling up at 8. i’d be stained too. But yall, the food is so mid. That 3 cheese dip is basic. The pollo verse was so horrible to me omg😩. I had to mix everything to drown out the taste of idk what that was ! We also got cowboy caviar and it tasted like exactly what it said. no vinaigrette in sight 😂. straight onions and bell peppers chile. Even told them that i did not like it, then told me that my only option was to replace (no refund) so i asked for a menu, & the male server told me that its only two options that i can replace it with. I’m like ok, so why they charge me for the replacement which was a limited option, as if they were all the same price? All in all it wasn’t that bad but it’s an acquired taste. we did not enjoy ourselves at all 😂. But other way, sweet servers ! ♥️

Best Mexican food around, fajitas were so good. My friend and I ordered chicken fajita and combo chicken and steak fajitas. Appetizers mango salads, white queso and these were extremely delicious no one can do better than this. And man the tortillas made in the house are out of the world

Google
Cool vibe, good drinks, mediocre Mexican food. I really liked the decor and the vibe in this place, and our server was great. I had the mole fashioned, which was very very good, the frozen top-shelf margarita with mango was good, not great. The chips were disappointing, similar to chips I would buy in the grocery store. The highlight of our appetizers was the cowboy caviar, I would absolutely eat a giant vat of it (with different chips)! We ordered several appetizers to share, and did not finish them. I will definitely go back to go to the upstairs bar area, but not for dinner.

This place is BEAUTIFUL, came here for a midday meal with my mother and fiancé and the outdoor seating area was immaculate; everyone came to the conclusion that this place is, “a slice of the beach in Baton Rouge.”! The server was clean cut and dashing. Definitely will be returning for any occasion I have in the future!🙌🏽 ANYONE GIVING LESS THAN A 4 STAR IS CONTROLLED OPPOSITION BC THERE AINT NO WAY!

Google
First time here and I left pretty happy thanks to the chocolate chip and toffee cookie with the horchata ice cream!! That was the best ice cream I've ever had. I would buy a gallon IMMEDIATELY. We did have their restaurant week menu so I'm not sure if that is a usual menu item but it should be! I also had the chicken tinga flautas and I personally wanted more punch of chipotle/adobo sauce flavor but it had a lot of potential. The bartender was wonderful and took the feedback with grace and asked exactly what we thought or expected so we appreciated that. The fajitas and tacos al carbon had familiar flavors we were looking for and we had no notes there at all besides being stuffed. I also personally love a spicier salsa but I devoured it nonetheless. I'll be back for that dessert if it's an option for sure! They're a newer establishment and definitely hearing their customers out, from what I could tell, and to me that means a lot. Thanks Luna for the good time!

Google
Fantastic atmosphere! My favorite place to sit and have a margarita in town. Great for Friday and Saturday nights with friends. The food being great is just an added plus truly to an already awesome experience. Would recommend to any out of towners coming in for games during the fall.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and drinks! We came on a Monday, and we were sat immediately at a table upstairs on the rooftop. This was such a vibe and an amazing view! The hostess stand is outside in front, so we didn't see the inside of the restaurant, but the rooftop upstairs was so cool. There were tons of tables, a bar, and a great view. When it got dark, they brought out little lamps for each table to add to the awesome ambiance. For drinks, I got the house margarita which the waitress said already came skinny. It was so good that I got two. Chips and salsa were free and they were average. I got the chicken quesadilla, and again, just average. So were the chicken tacos... wish more meat was on these. But the service was great and she did a really good job checking on us throughout the night. I will be back for the ambiance and drinks for sure.

Yelp
Womp womp... I was super excited for this place, but I think most of the resources were spent on design and marketing, versus the food. I got the Caesar salad and it was incredible! Although I wouldn't call it a Caesar salad. Not sure what it was but maybe change the name so it causes less confusion. For my meal I ordered the fish tacos. First of all, it didn't even come with all of the ingredients it said on the menu seems like they're trying to copy Barracudas fish tacos because it was almost the same ingredients... if only they actually put those ingredients on the tacos! (Pomegranate seeds) see photo attached... that is exactly how the tacos came (except for the bites taken obviously). Driest tacos I've ever had. I didn't eat anymore than this. I thought it would be a safe option but boy was I wrong. [I was informed by my friend that they changed the menu, so the photos of the menu here have different ingredients on the fish tacos than what was on my menu - I didn't take a photo of it... but someone else posted a photo of their "off menu fish tacos" and I think that's what it was supposed to look like] The rice was spicy and disappointing. The beans were like bland mush. Best thing I ate at this Mexican restaurant was the non Caesar, Caesar salad Why didn't I tell the server you ask? Well, no one came back until it was time to pay. Took an hour to order our food too. We were in a large group, but still... we should be able to order at least and no it wasn't busy, it was a Wednesday night so pretty chill. Margarita was good, but those are hard to mess up. Great vibes, unfortunately that's all they got lol. I think they need to hire more staff and train their staff. I won't blame the staff cause they're just college kids, but they definitely need more training.

Yelp
Awesome food and service! Environment is one of the coolest in Baton Rouge. Recommend it to anyone traveling to BR for a game.

Yelp
This place has great vibes, good service, and is beautifully decorated inside and outside. The chips and salsa are great and so is the triple dip combo. We got queso, guac, and cowboy caviar and loved all of them. Guac tasted fresh. The enchiladas I probably wouldn't get again, but enjoyed the side of beans and rice. The chicken empanadas were pretty good too. This place is great for drinks and some appetizers!

Yelp
I loved the food it was full of flavor, had a nice presentation, and came in great portions. I wanted to try more dishes, but I felt full after just two. I tried the chicken fajitas, and the chicken was delicious and cooked perfectly. They offered me off-menu fish tacos, and they were amazing! The flautas were crunchy and absolutely delicious as well. The place is well decorated, and the staff and service are amazing!

Yelp
LOVE this new restaurant. 5/5 stars on atmosphere, service, food, & drinks. Our waitress was so nice and quick and the food was absolutely delicious. My sister got The tequila shrimp tacos and they were my favorite thing I tried. I had the carne asada tacos which were also delicious. The salsa was the perfect amount of spicy & the queso was soooo good! we will be back!

Makenzie D.

Yelp
AMAZING food and atmosphere! This place is exactly what Baton Rouge needed, a nice rooftop bar, amazing staff, and even better food. This will definitely be my new go to spot! The shrimp tequila tacos are a must!! 10/10!

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place due to advertisement and something being new by the overpass Unfortunately our experience here was very lack luster. The food was under seasoned and just not good. Our drinks took forever; actually came after the appetizers we ordered. My food had missing ingredients and after making the server aware, it was dismissed as if it was no big deal. Weird atmosphere to say the least for such a new place. I don't wish ill on a business, but hopefully they turn things around and actually take heed to these reviews.

Yelp
Went for lunch in the middle of the week. The place was dead so the food came out quick. I was provided chips and salsa, and I ordered a platter with three tacos, rice, and beans. The chips and salsa were fine. While I waited for my food I did my best to tune out the aggressively white yacht rock playlist. The taco platter was very, very mid. The "crispy" fish taco was soggy. The chicken taco and carne asada taco tasted fine, but they weren't very hot and they were both mayonnaisey, like they just squirted something straight out of a Herdez bottle on them or something. The rice was your standard "Mexican rice" that's a lovely autumnal orange-brown for some reason but doesn't taste like anything. The refried beans were vegetarian, unfortunately, which means they tasted like pureed pinto beans with nothing much else happening. The plate itself was room temperature to cold, so Luna Cocina apparently isn't abiding by the age-old Mexican restaurant tradition of heating plates to keep the food hot. No bold flavors, no signature dishes, nothing exciting about it. I'm not really sure what Luna Cocina is going for here - maybe I need to try some other dishes, or maybe it's designed to be a rooftop tequila bar with an accidental restaurant attached and my expectations for good food are foolish. Unless they step up their game, I give them 4-6 months, considering Zippy's is literally a stone's throw away, Barracuda is within driving distance, and both offer better value and flavor.

Yelp
Worst dinner experience I've had in 25 years of life. Made a birthday reservation for 7:45 they said we didn't have room for our table on the rooftop after requesting. We didnt get out of dinner until 10:45. server came to our table 1 time. had chips with no salsa for over an hour. They "comped" 1 round of margs, and called it a night. Will never come back, too many good Mexican around for service like this. especially for that price.

Yelp
Great new place on Perkins Road. Parking in the back under I-10. Rooftop too! All the staff were friendly and nice.

Samuel W.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our time here! A beautiful mix of modern and pueblo-style influences, with warm lighting and a sleek rooftop that adds to the ambiance. The tuna tartare was easily the highlight of our meal!

Yelp
I swear it took ten years to complete the Luna Cocina building - so what's the scoop? Honestly, it was mostly amazing. Luna Cocina sits on busy Perkins Rd, but even during rush hour, it felt laid back, restful, not noisy at all. We sat in the rooftop area, which is adequately shady and breezy - genuinely delightful on a March evening. I started with a house margarita and it was delicious, perfectly tangy and sweet and salty. The queso which followed was genuinely the best I've EVER had - smooth, spicy, with a lovely smoky flavor that complemented the crisp, fresh-tasting chips. My husband and I split two entrees - the Pick3 Taco Plate and the Blue Crab Enchiladas. The mushroom taco was the top of the three tacos. The crispy fish taco was indeed crispy and tender, but a little too salty and it just...needed something. The barbacoa taco was good, but again, too salty. But oh, the blue crab enchiladas made up for everything. Under a creamy red sauce, they were everything enchiladas should be - soft, cheesy, bursting with flavor. Please get them. I promise you won't regret it. Both dishes were served with Spanish rice and refried beans. The beans were great, but the rice, dotted with capers and faintly smoky, was exceptional. We went to Luna Cocina quite early in the evening, so service was initially a bit spotty, but when our lovely waitress arrived, service went from medium to perfect. All in all, a lovely evening. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Fantastic place for fresh food and amazing drinks. Love the outdoor seating upstairs, or quiet lower level dining. The waiters were attentive and helpful with the menu.

Yelp
The food!! The atmosphere!! The service. All was AMAZING!!! This will definitely be our new spot. They have an awesome bar upstairs that stays open once the downstairs closes. Highly recommend -- a MUST in BR

Cooper C.

Yelp
Arrived without a reservation and waited an hour, which was fine. Once seated, it took 30 minutes to get appetizers, and no utensils were provided to eat them. One guest was served a Coke in the can, unlike the rest who received glasses with ice. Service was sparse, relying on other waiters to complete orders. While waiting for our orders to arrive, a clear view into the unclean kitchen showed chaos. Unfortunately, red sauce ended up on my back, likely due to the unclean furniture or the clumsy staff. While the experience was VERY disappointing, it's understandable that imperfections are being addressed as the place is new.

Mandy B.

Yelp
The Breakfast Burrito sub chicken and the Cali Burrito 5 stars. Carne Asada to much cilantro. Queso was great. As for the "white yacht music" (someone else's complaint), we loved it! Food seemed a little slow for being the only table on a Saturday afternoon. This was our first try and we will be back.

ScottandLisa V.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere, food was great, salsa was thick and flavorful! The upstairs bar area was fabulous!

Kristy K.

Yelp
I got the carne asada tacos and they were phenomenal! We also got some tasty margaritas! The rooftop is so pretty.

Paige O.

Yelp
Old ass stale fries. McDonald's is better. Waited 20 minutes for a margarita that I stared at on the bar. There was 4 tables. FOUR TABLES. THREE WAITRESSES. LET ME GIVE THE RATIO ONE MORE TIME 4:3. RIDICULOUS. waste of money. Never come here. Ruined my bestfriends bday.

Jill O.

Yelp
Atmosphere is strange. The design just doesn't work. Margs taste like Jose Cuervo mix. Food was way too salty (barbacoa). Service is amazing though. Bartender was super nice. Food came out quickly.

Justin T.

Yelp
Chips and salsa on Point ! Top shelf margaritas are on pointe.as well. Come visit - when weather allows sir upstairs in the open air bar. They are in their way to being a local regular .

Janet T.

Yelp
Food and service were amazing! We will definitely return. Atmosphere is relaxing and tasteful.

Macy M.

Yelp
I came here this Tuesday for dinner. The margaritas were great and the food was okay. But, our server was very rude (short read headed girl, obviously her first serving job). I've been severing for 2 plus years so I hold a lot of empathy for servers and mistakes. But, this server mixed up 2 cards between a 90$ bill and a 46$ bill. She continued to try and convince us this was our fault and a refund would be difficult and time consuming on her end (it's not difficult, you swipe a managers card to refund and re enter the food to charge the cards, 2 minutes max). She was very dismissive and told us to just venmo each other. I heard this place was unprofessional but wanted to give it a try. Disappointed

Hunter O.

Yelp
Consistently great food and fun every time. Such a great place to go for casual lunch or dinner out on the town with friends.

Jonathan O.

Yelp
Good atmosphere but food is seriously lacking. Was hoping this place would provide a much needed establishment in Baton Rouge. Unfortunately, Luna Cocina barely makes three stars. Made a reservation for four people and the table was only set for two and said they had to find two additional chairs. Found this odd, as the restaurant was half empty the entire time we were there. The food came out extremely fast which is likely why it didn't seem fresh at all. The quality of the food and taste was not very good. Couldn't give it more than three stars and that was solely based on the atmosphere and service. Hopefully they can get the food sorted and then maybe they'll last longer than every other business that's been haunted by what seems to be a cursed building.

Angelina J.

Yelp
The ambience was great, especially the upstairs seating! I loved the open air while still having a roof over our heads. However, the food was lacking flavor, and the portions were generally small. The margs were good and the dips were okay, so it could be a fun drinks + apps place, but I would not do dinner there again.

Jose V.

Yelp
Garrett the bartender was very knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. Always a pleasure when he serves us

Jon L.

Yelp
Poor service. On a Saturday afternoon at 3pm my wife son and I walked over to check out this new restaurant. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted. Once sat we looked around and there place was half empty with mostly dirty tables. We waited another 15 minutes. At that point we flagged a staff member down and asked if they could let our server know we are ready to order. Another 15 minutes passed with no service. We got up and left. We tired to find someone to let them know but no one was around at the host desk. We will not be returning and will not recommend this restaurant to our friends.

Marcy M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! So happy to see a rooftop in Baton Rouge! The staff was super friendly and the food is very good! Highly recommend

Shawn C.

Yelp
Terrible service. Came on a Friday night and didn't get our waters for 45 minutes. Ordered a queso as well right as we sat and she didn't put it in the whole time as well. Waiter forgot three queso's and several drinks at our table. Barely checked in throughout our meal and forgot several things. Waiters and bartenders were very untrained and complacent. I understand it is a new opening but expected a lot more especially for the price of the place.

Sarah D.

Yelp
The vibes are amazing and the staff was super nice. The tuna tartar was the best thing I had and the tequila espresso martini was pretty good too! Overall would recommend for a date night or girls night out

Claire M.

Yelp
Really really bad food and service. Extremely overpriced drinks for a glass that is barely 1/4 full.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Garrett served us the best drinks. He was the best for our Saturday funday. Also highly recommend the fresh pineapple and mango salsa.

Marlo B.

Yelp
This place was a disappointment. Queso wasn't great which I find hard to mess up, my elote was cooked to death and mushy, drinks weren't that good either, and their prices are high. I was hoping it would be great but I wasn't impressed.

Jason P.

Yelp
TERRIBLE. sat down at 9 o clock. Didn't get my drinks until 9:55. Olives with my Tito's sota we're not drink olives. Everyone at my table (10 people) said their drinks were terrible.the waiter looked at me and ignored me several times when I tried to asked where our drinks are. Tried to order drinks from the bar. The bartender told me to wait for my drinks at the table.

Reese B.

Yelp
Atmosphere is top notch, but the food does not match the atmosphere. Not to mention the house margarita was the absolute worst margarita I've ever had. Tasted like extremely cheap tequila. Service was good but won't be going back.

Dylan A.

Yelp
Luna is exactly what Baton Rouge was missing! Can't wait to come back again and again!!

Melissa T.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this restaurant, but as previous reviewers have stated, it just is not up to par with food or drinks. Not having a happy hour is really going to hurt them in my opinion, especially when there are many other places within a stones throw where groups can meet for less expensive options for drinks. The chips and salsa were not good at all and that is just a benchmark in my opinion, at the very least. Salsa was almost like ketchup and chips are obviously not made in house. The food was just average- pretty bland and frankly overpriced. The guacamole was the best thing we tried. Won't be returning as there are much better Mexican restaurants in the city. Would like to point out wait staff and hostesses were very nice!

Brady S.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 8 people and they stuck upstairs at a table facing the wall. So essentially it was the time out corner with only 6 chairs. Luckily the hostess and waitstaff pivoted and got us to an area that could hold our party. Drinks and food were ok, it was slightly overpriced. I don't feel the need to return to this restaurant. there was nothing novelty or worth going for. I'd sooner go to zippys with better vibes, bigger drinks, and not break the bank.

Erin S.

Yelp
We wanted to like this new restaurant, but we were very disappointed. To start, the chips had zero salt on them and the salsa had the consistency of ketchup with not much flavor. I ordered the chicken enchiladas which came smothered in queso that turned very gelatinous after a few minutes. The rice did not have much flavor at all and the refried beans are very basic refried beans. My husband's tacos were also underwhelming. With a tab of over $100 before tax and tip, which included 2 cocktails, we would rather spend that amount of money at plenty of other local restaurants in town. Also, we were charged more for the tacos than the price indicated on the menu.

Tam L.

Yelp
went here on a saturday night when it was absolutely dead inside. my group sat down and we did not get water or our drink for 45 mins. the waiter said they had ran out of cups, therefore she didn't give us water? our waiter did not check in on us for 45 mins and she is obviously not trained enough to be waiter. the staff was rude and the atmosphere was dead. will not be returning. staff needs to be trained better !
