Luna Fargo

We’ve always heard great things about this place, but when we saw the menu, we were a bit lost…We finally decided to try it on my birthday, and WOWwwWW it was pretty good! It was really good, even though I was a bit hesitant until I actually got my food. I don’t like to put 5stars for review but I think i should… The building is quite old, which adds a certain charm, but it is what it is! I loved it and I’m definitely going back soon!!!

My wife and I had a fantastic dinner at Luna's. I admittedly started out sceptical of the location. However that quickly subsided when I walked inside. The unique selections of meat and cheese options at the entrance intrigued me right away. The food was simply amazing. The pairing of flavors was a culinary masterclass. Even the dessert was eye rollingly good. The friendly, attentive, non overbearing service was also amazing. This place is a must try.

Tonight was the second time we have dined at Luna. Both times we have had excellent service, great wine, and creative delicious dishes that utilize simple local ingredients in a way that intrigues the palate! If we lived closer we would eat here all the time. Lorna thank you for serving us!

EVERYTHING PERFECTION! We're just driving by on a road trip, and making a stop just so we can say we've been to Fargo (we loved both the movie and the tv series)! We got the winter squash lasagna and Knoephla, and rhubarb crisp for dessert. Everything was just a little different than what you would normally get in other places, so you're very pleasantly surprised in every bite.

Okay so a friend of mine gave me the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Secret of the Ooze collectors figures the other day. It was such a satisfying day. However!!!.....Not as satisfying as tonight was after eating out at Luna. I do want to apologize for not showing some love sooner because I do stop out there often for a cocktail. The cheese plate? Amazing. However, today I did not have that. We went with the mushroom salad and the Wagyu New York Beef and I had to make awkward eye contact with the chef for how good it was. Thanks Evan *slow blink* Honestly though this place is awesome I love coming out here. Austin was great, the service always is! Food is always phenomenal and the drinks always match! A very cool Loki quiet setting, so if you're looking for something a little bit more intimate this will definitely fit what you're looking for. Great cheese selection if you're looking to take something for your own personal needs! Just highly recommended overall. Thank you for the effort!

My wife and I enjoyed our meal very much. My Chilean sea bass tasted so fresh and savory. For dessert, we had the best strawberry and blood orange sorbet. We will be back to try as many other dishes and possible.

Not your average Fargo spot. Luna is precise, seasonal, and intentional. Portions are smaller, flavors are smarter. If you want fresh, chef-level food that respects your palate (and doesn’t leave you bloated), this is your place. Not for the basic or buffet-minded for people who eat with purpose.

First off, I love this place. The food is outstanding. Most of the service is great. The gals waiting the tables are just gems. Only qualms for service were ahem, not them. And maybe it was an off night, but they were out of an awful lot of things behind the bar. That team didn’t seem on the same page. And the bedside manner in light of all this didn’t give me the warm and fuzzies. It happens, I understand, didn’t ruin my experience, but I hope they read this and use it as motivation to be as professional as they are gifted. Because you will be out of stuff and there will be other things working against you outside your control. But consider if that happens over and over, lean into the opportunity to delight someone. When done right can make a wonderfully positive customer experience. Especially if that customer might frequent the establishment. Unfortunately, I only took a photo of the popovers, but good news for you – these are the reasons to come. There are no other stronger reason than these popovers. They are the most delicious that you’ve had. Unless you’re like the craziest pop over connoisseur in the world then I can assure you they’re in your top 10%. Besides this, we had a simple salad, tomato bisque, and Chilean sea bass. All the dishes were superb. My only qualm was the smoked mussels w/ the Seabass were a bit shriveled and dry. But they no doubt added important flavor to the dish. I’ll be back to Luna!

I've been fortunate to travel and go to some really great restaurants. Stand outs have been in Italy, Paris, best Indian ever was in Ireland, the most beautiful in Vienna, freshest and amazing Ohuahu. My favorites though are the surprises. Hole in the wall places where abeulitas are making the best molé ever with 37 ingredients, Pho with the perfect balance of fish sauce, lime and ginger without too much salt... You get it. When my daughter described this restaurant and cheese shop... formerly a bread and coffee shop, I thought it probably would be good but I was WoWeD. Now I've been there 4-5 times, mostly for dinner with family but also with a friends for lunch. Have always been pleased and proud of and for Fargo. The food has always been good and often exquisite! We usually start with their delicious mocktails and appetizers for the table. Yes, the popovers are wonderful as is the cheeseboard. The menu changes fairly often with some mainstays. The guys in our family often go for the Wagyu steak. Duck and various pasta dishes have also been favorites. I think there's always been a vegetarian option too. I've loved several. The staff is knowledgeable and servers excellent. The atmosphere is unassuming casual and cozy. Save room for desert! They do that well too.

Back for a second time. Pimento Cheese Dip and crackers as a started. Very good. But the star was the main dish. The Seared Lamb Noisette. This dish plays in your mouth. It's like explosions of flavor. Strong flavored dish with many components that work well. The polenta. The lamb, that it's really good, the lamb bacon. The cauliflower. Definitely w middle eastern flavors. Really, really good

My sister and I went there yesterday. She had the squash lasagna and I had the Wagyu burger. My sister gave me a taste of the lasagna and it was an epiphany. The first few bites were an absolute delicious. The Wagyu burger was OK, but I wouldn't order it again. The portion size was just right for me, but some people may say it's on the small side. I would recommend that you give this place a try. They have a nice selection of cheeses. You can buy by the front entrance. Highly recommend the rogue smoked blue cheese.

Traveling through and found this on Yelp. We stopped for lunch and had vegetable lasagna and a Summer Panzanella salad. Make sure you don't miss ordering the Chive & Cheddar Popovers....delicious! 5 Stars for service, atmosphere and wonderful food. All ingredients were so fresh and flavorful makes my mouth water as I write this review!

Honestly, it was hard to pick a favorite plate because every item we got was so well balanced, flavorful, and outstanding. Other than the knoephla being on the strong side of salt, everything was perfect! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this hidden gem inside an unassuming strip mall. The servers were excellent as well.

I go there constantly for their cheeseboard! they are very consistent on how they exceed expectations every time

Such a delicious meal! Our favorite was the Kohlrabi Leek Soup, but their soup changes daily so we may never get to enjoy it again :( All of the other food we got was delicious too. Service was great, it was pretty chill there on a Tuesday night. Really enjoyed their music and also appreciated the pretty floral wallpaper wall.

Delicious food, wonderful service, great atmosphere, knowledgeable bar manager. Beyond expectation. New favorite in Fargo.

Shockingly upscale food with reasonable prices on complex and delicious dishes. The popover hype is true. The beet salad was flavorful and showcasing the fresh cheese. Perfectly cooked pork tucked into savory apple butter and served with a layered potato cake and a delicate slaw. Service is simple and efficient and the dining room is cozy. The passion for good food is really evident throughout. Portions are not huge, so be aware if you're hungry. All together a really pleasant surprise when passing through Fargo.

Listen: Luna usually produces an excellent meal. I expect a lot out of them. When my wife and I brought my mother there to celebrate her birthday we were very disappointed. My mom was able to enjoy her meal, and I'm grateful for that but my wife and I ordered the chicken, hence the low score above. The chicken was dreadfully overcooked. It had been cooked so hard that the meat had lost all texture and was dried out and had lost any flavor. Dried out mush? Yes that's what they served us. Dessert was good but unremarkable. When we go to Luna we expect five stars or maybe four on an off day not inedible entrees. We will return but will expect a much better meal next time

Luna, a a hidden gem in Fargo right on University Ave. I wouldn't pass on an opportunity to have a very good meal here. The service is spot on and friendly. The food is worth the trip. The atmosphere is very pleasant and very casual. A great 1st date choice.

My husband was excited to take me to this resturant. It's adorable inside, and the wait staff is exceptional. I guess I ordered the wrong thing; they returned it and brought me a second entree. So I say choose wisely, ask questions about the food. I am not a picky eater!

The food was creative and delicious. We didn't have to wait long. The decor is simple but the food is worth going for.

The popovers are so delicious, decadent, and the sharp cheese grated over them is perfect. I enjoyed them with the house made knoephla soup. Scrumptious. Always distinct and unique offerings. You order at the counter and they serve you. The restaurant is such a fun bistro style with chalkboard specials and an entire case of fun cheese selections.

Oh my, it always helps being with locals!! This place is neighborhood, right next to an iconic liquor store. Healthy very different choices that were excellent. The only downside was that we were so full from our selections that I didn't have room for the rhubarb crisp!

Our night at Luna was one of those rare occasions where you thoroughly enjoy every single thing you try. Well, I wasn't inclined to the beet salad because I knew I didn't like beets before and gave it a whirl anyways, but the rest of my party demolished it quite quickly. So besides that- it was all a hit. This is definitely more of a fancy restaurant than I realized looking at it from the outside. I think they prefer you make a reservation, but we didn't and with 4 of us were still able to be seated almost right away mid dinner rush. If you aren't into trying some unique flavor combinations, then Luna probably isn't for you. They definitely have a more advanced culinary chef who knows how to work with interesting flavor profiles, and I'm totally willing to branch out. I got a duck dish, and it was marvelous. The surf and turf was the dish I'd get if I went again, but wow every single thing I tried was good. You know the food is good when each person at your table tries a bite of everyone else's dishes- we all shared with each other because we all NEEDED to experience the taste bud sensations. Oh, and if you do go here, please pop in the first bathroom to check out the gnarly dog "painting" that's in there... trust me, you'll get a good laugh.

We were looking for a unique and tasty dining experience while visiting family in Fargo. Looking at the menu online, Luna seemed to check all the boxes but we left pretty underwhelmed. Popovers were good, octopus was tinned with bread and crackers (which should have been better described on the menu). Salmon was a bit overcooked and the duck was a little tough (although the flavor was good). Service left a lot to be desired: she ignored us for long stretches, forgot to put in some of our order, and just didn't seem very into it. Cheese was great tho. Maybe it was just an off night? Probably would not go again for dinner.

Honestly I haven't been this blown away in a long time. Can we give more than 5 stars? I had heard good things from others, but was surprised when I saw what looked like a small cafe in a strip mall. Never judge a book by its cover they say...and not that I was judging ...but my expectations were different. We made a reservation & were seated promptly. I got a mocktail which was $5. It was called the garden wagon. It was really yummy & definitely worth the $5. The three of us decided to share 2 apps and a side. We got the Roasted Beets, pickle plate, and the chive and cheddar popovers. Everything was so good! So good! I mean it. My favorite was the roasted beets. I grabbed the wild acres chicken for my meal which was made with wild mushrooms, corn, shishitos, pickled jalapenos, & cotija. The mushrooms were so uniquely cooked. The chicken was juicy and fell off the bone, and all the flavors were so great together. It was an adventure for your mouth! When asked for dessert we all decided to get our own sideof the roasted beets. Seriously, that's how good they were. We were like banana cream pie or beets? Beets it is. I'm sure the dessert was amazing too, but I could leave Fargo without having as many as these beets as possible. Our server was 10/10 and so kind and helpful! I want to say that when we come back to Fargo we will adventure more restaurants, but honestly I'm already planning to come right back to Luna!the prices and portions are extremely fair.

I was in town for work. The service here was good even if the server was a bit of hoverer. The cheese plate and popovers were good. We all ordered steak and it was very tough and unevenly cooked. It was a nice quiet place and a good location for wine and appetizers.

Excellent food! Smaller portions but top notch quality! Definitely get the popovers. We will be back!

I've been going to Luna every year when I visit family in my hometown (Moorhead). I've lived in many major cities across the country and look forward to going to Luna where I know the food is on par if not better than some of my favorite "big city" restaurants. We always order the popovers and enjoy trying new items on the seasonal menus. This time I tried the roasted beet salad (delicious) and the rhubarb tart (topped with their rhubarb sorbet -- amazing). Just a wonderful little restaurant with amazing food and people. I can hardly wait to go again next time!!! Awesome place!

This place is just cool. It's a neighborhood gem. Additionally, we use the small but amazingly sourced meat and cheese counter when we need to find "the good stuff", those unique items that you won't find anywhere else in the neighborhood. Again, a neighborhood gem. Please frequent it!

What a gem! Deserves a better location but I suppose that's part of the charm. I mean to go back soon.

Luna is known for its unique choices from an award winning chef. One of my favorites is their Beet salad with goose eggs. Another is their savory pasties. Their cheese trays and cheese selections to buy to go are favorful. We have become regulars.

I went to Luna for lunch and was quite impressed by the food, service, and presentation. The Korean Pork Groat soup was tasty, but the real star was the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. It was fantastic. The breading was crispy and light, and the pairing of manchego cheese with lemon sweet and sour sauce was excellent. Definitely recommend coming here. I will be back for dinner in the future.

Just lovely. The food outclasses the atmosphere. But some of the best finds are in strip malls. I wish their crab and Kale Caesar was available as an entree. The anchovy sauce was amazing. But then I would have missed their chorizo and peppers pasty. All excellent. Needs a bigger location.

The service was ok - but when I asked for extra salad dressing (since it tasted watered down) she said it would cost extra. The chicken was a glorified chix strip that were over priced - My husbands red potatoes tasted very burnt and left an absolute horrible aftertaste in your mouth. Disappointed & way over priced!!!

Luna - you've been my go to cheese place for quite a while but the bathroom hullabaloo was the motivation I needed to stop in for dinner. A great decision! We had a delicious meal and a wonderful server (Katie). I had the bison strip steak and my dining companion had the halibut. Both were outstanding in flavor, quality of ingredients, and presentation. I had a glass of the house red, which was a generous pour and very modestly priced - and most importantly, tasty. The only thing missing from the meal was the offer for some fresh ground pepper. Don't let the location fool you - no matter where you live in the FM area or if you're visiting Luna is worth a stop! Next up for us is to check out the lunch menu.

The food is very good but the portions are small and the prices are big. I will only go here if someone else insists because the portions and ambience do not match the prices.

Having never been here, we opted for the dinner service. Vibe is more casual than expected, and that translated into a more relaxed feeling. Service was friendly, no complaints there. I got the NY Strip, which comes as a 5oz cut, and opted for rare. The steak was very flavorful and the seared edges made for welcomed crunchy bites. Being that I'm not generally a fan of Brussels sprouts for sake of them being mushy much of the time, I was glad to find that these were crunchy and flavorful. The dessert was wonderful as well, and a take-home cheese tray at the end was also a great addition. For anyone considering trying out Luna for the first time, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go, and I know personally I'll be back soon.

My wife and I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and I ordered the BLT, fantastic, I mean really fantastic. My wife ordered the broccoli soup and green salad and was very impressed as well. We are going to buy some cheese to go from their excellent selection. Can't wait to try this evening with a nice bottle of wine. We will be back love the food and service.

I love Luna for their charcuterie boards for 2. They really know how to pair cheeses with breads, flatbreads, or crackers. I go there when I just have to feed myself or to bring a friend a nice treat!

Tucked away in an unpretentious little strip mall in south Fargo, you can get the best popovers you'll ever eat, a beet salad that will make you cry it's so good, and some of the nicest wines (by the glass!) that you'll ever want. Ryan, the chef and co-owner, rolls out some of the tastiest, most inspired meals you can imagine. The black garlic ice cream is not to be missed when it's on the menu! Nikki, co-owner and force of nature, has shown such an incredible investment in our communities of Fargo and Moorhead (check out Sol Ave. Kitchen across the River, too!) Love this place!!

We made a reservation for dinner and it's was busy when we got there on a Friday at 7pm. The popovers are a must to order and they were excellent. We liked our meat plate and cocktails. The steelhead trout in red curry had crispy skin and tasted great. We finished off with dessert. I had the black garlic chocolate ice cream and my wife had the peanut butter cheesecake which we both enjoyed. Staff is very friendly and they have a huge assortment of cheese in the front display case.

We stopped in on a Friday night. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was very good. I had Braised Beef Lasagna - flavorful and filling. great meal. 3 people had steak with root vegetable and beef marmalade . These were good choices. Another table member had Chicken leg/thigh with mole sauce, black beans. this meal was the best so far. Then we has desert. The peanut butter cheese cake is a down right winner. That should get anyone in the door. three table members got a loaded brownie sunday. this is another winner choice. the fifth table member got Black Garlic & dark chocolate icecream. this was not good. It tasted like a sugerbeet plant smells. skip this choice at all costs. Will definitly go back some time.

The food was absolutely delicious! Alot of people ordered pizza so we did as well and it was really good. I liked the interior, gave me book store/library vibes.

My takeout tomato red wine soup and chicken skin wrapped monkfish with summer vegetables was absolutely delicious. The convenient location is in a strip mall. If you're in Fargo and want to try local eatery..... this is the place.

Omg can we talk about Luna. If you're looking for a legit place to impress yourself, especially some one Special WHO LOVES FOOD and nothing else in a restaurant this place is hands down thee place to execute such plan. Having traveled all over Europe and experience different cuisine and atmosphere- I def always feel like I'm in some legit restaurant in the country side of France or Italy who count on show casing the quality of their food and nothing else. But, besides the quality of the food, the place is intimate and classy. I haven't seen any riffraffs in the restaurant - only people who appreciate good food and quality time with whomever their dining with. THANK YOU LUNA for making Fargo diverse and exuding open-mindedness through your very unique creations.

First time I have been to Luna. I love the cheese and meat deli in the entry. We both had the Skake wing and it was delicious! I'll be back ( all the way from Arizona)!

I have enjoyed every experience that I have had a Luna so far. The shop is a cheese counter, coffee shop, and restaurant all in one. The staff is always very helpful when picking out cheeses. They have an extensive selection and they assist you in building a cheese plate that will work well together. The items that I have brought home have been a hit at parties! I always stock up on local butter and farm fresh eggs while in in as well. I'm looking forward to walking over there for dinner as well.

I stopped by one afternoon for lunch with a friend and their season selections are just exquisite. We enjoyed a delicious meal curated from locally available produce and a wine pairing suggested by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. I can't wait for the next time I get to visit Luna!

The food, drinks, and service here were spectacular. I had the braised lamb neck and it was superior to any meal I've had in NYC or Boston. Thanks for a wonderful meal and an awesome atmosphere in which to enjoy it!
