The Best Fish and Chips on the Oregon Coast | Eater Portland

"With two locations in Yachats — north of Newport — and Seal Rock just south of it, Luna Sea is a tiny fisherman-owned bistro and fish market. Try wild-caught fish-and-chips choices like beer-battered king salmon or albacore that might be from owner Robert Anthony’s own boat. (You’ll recognize him by the wooden cutout of the gentleman in sunglasses on the Seal Rock location’s building, made by a local artist.) Halibut and lingcod sustainably sourced from ports in Alaska and elsewhere are also succulent. Plates come with hefty fries and a pleasant coleslaw, sweet with fresh apple. You’ll find pet-friendly seating in Yachats’s outdoor garden room dining area and live music at both locations for an extra helping of that coastal vibe." - Emily Teel

15 Fish and Chips Spots Worth Their Salt on the Oregon Coast

"With the expansion of Yachats fave Luna Sea — a tiny fisherman-owned bistro and fish market — into a second location in Seal Rock, the Central Coast has more to celebrate. Try wild-caught fish-and-chips choices like beer-battered king salmon, halibut, or albacore and chips (or all three in the Luna Sea Combo). Plates come with chubby fries and a pleasant coleslaw, sweet with fresh apple. Luna Sea’s owner, fisherman Robert Anthony, offers pet-friendly seating in Yachats’ outdoor garden room dining area and live music at both locations for an extra helping of that coastal vibe." - Jennifer Burns Bright

A local told me to eat here! BEST CHOICE. Excellent food. Exceptional price. Owned by a fisherman. I met an octogenarian who works there. He's just amazing. The young lady working there was great, Roll Tide! She gave great advice on food. Halibut and chips -delicious! I think if I lived in the area, I'd be a regular. Threw out my healthy habits and ate this delicious meal. The hot raspberry tea was nice. Love the environment and culture! Thank you!

Google
Tried this place out based on all the reviews, and I don't understand how this place has such great ratings on the food, TBH.... the ONLY thing I can say was phenomenal was the staff (until the end) We ordered the clam chowder, very watery and FULL of potatoes, not so many clams, but the flavor was good. My wife had the fish and chips, and the food came out looking like it was great, but the fish was very bland and tasteless. I myself had the 3 fish tacos, and they were not what I expected. There was a generous amount of fish on each taco. However, there was a gigantic helping of guacamole on the top (guac does not belong on fish tacos) and some not so good tasting coleslaw. My son had the cheese burger, and I've never in 16 years not seen him finish his burger... today was a first. Now, the staff were on point with their service, very friendly and quick. But, when I asked our waitress to take the fish and chips off of our bill because my wife literally only choked down one piece of the fish and set it aside, she was friendly about it, but then walked away and started taking to another waitress about us wanting it taken off and gave us the side eye, and it was obvious that she was not talking so nicely about us. My wife and I travel from state to state on our vacation to try seafood specifically and I hate the to be the guy that goes against all the other reviews here, but I call em like I see them, and this place is faking the seafood they serve the customers that eat there. I'm sorry to have to leave a review like this for such a well rated place.

Google
The food at Luna Seafood House was fantastic! It was so fresh and came to our table steaming hot. I had a half order of fish and chips ( 3 smallish pieces ) and it was still more than enough for me and was served with delicious, creamy tarter sauce with just the right amount of pickle. My husband has a bowl of slumgullian (clamp chowder with cheese and lots of small shrimp ) that was also more than he could finish. We ate outside in a covered patio that sheltered us nicely from the wind. There is also patio seating as well as indoor seating. The servers were friendly and helpful and the food came out quickly. We would definitely go back to this one over and over again!

Google
Service is great. Love the local sweet people. Parking is hard, they share parking with another 2 businesses. You may need to find other parking. Food is …. A little hard to wire a review. The kitchen is also kinda small. Bring your sunglasses all the time if you wanna sit outside

Google
We had been hiking the OCT and stopped for lunch at Luna’s. We had the fried salmon and chips and fried halibut and chips. Both were outstanding but the salmon was particularly fresh with flavor. Top it off with super friendly staff and quick service made it a win for us. The price is reasonable for the quality you get. Next time we pass through Yachts, we’ll be making a stop at Luna’s.

Google
Was really good! Servers are really friendly! I had the Luna Sea Platter. The Scallops were so good..not gritty at all like you get at some places. I’ll be back for sure 💗

Google
This place has good seafood! The scallops and Clam Chowder were really good. Salmon was also tasty. Service was pretty descent but it is kind of a free for all to get a seat and enjoy the meal.

Google
Absolutely the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Super fresh, perfectly crispy batter, and the fish was so tender and flavorful. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Great little spot! I've only come for the fresher than fresh seafood to go and take home, but always great! Got some amazing tiger prawns and scallops (biggest I've ever seen scallops). I love their local vibe and great service. Take a look at what I got! Prices are what they are, not crazy, but not cheap. ;)

Yelp
I had the combo platter with my choice of seafood. I chose salmon, halibut and cod, deep fried, with French fries and cole slaw. The clam chowder had nice chunks of clams but too many diced potatoes for my taste. The grilled fish platter was not as good as the fried version. Service was ok. Ambiance was ok.

Yelp
Luna has been our goto for years! The food was always wonderful and the staff were always kind and accommodating. Today ,however, things changed! We got there ordered and waited and waited and waited.. everyone around us got their food before us, and we were the first ones there. But no big deal, we finally got our food. My husband ordered the slumgolian. It's not the same! It's thin and a lot less than they used to give you. And the price for a bowl of soup was 19.00! I ordered the Halibut and chips( same thing I always get) it was awful! I even asked if they had cleaned their oil lately, because it had a chemical smell and taste. Oh, 24.00 for that. Which I couldn't eat. It was so bad. The girl was rude and told me there was nothing wrong with the fish and fries. No sorry, no let me ask the cook, no ,hey let me get you something else. Just "too bad! " I then thought, ok maybe she is right. Maybe it's just me. So I took the fish with me and tries to feed it to my dog. NOPE! NEITHER ONE OF MY DOGS WOULD TOUCH IT! My dogs eat anything, seriously anything. So now I know something was not right! Unfortunately, now we have to find a new place to get fish. I would suggest everyone find a new place! If they are willing to make people sick with their food and not care about that. That tells me they have no standards. I'd be very afraid of what that kitchen might look like!

Yelp
This is a must. The charming everything in this small fish shack in this sleepy seaside town is something you see/feel in a movie. Service was quick. The clam chowder was best I've ever had w HEARTY amounts of clam. The halibut fish and chips was otherworldly. My son had the cod and demolished it. Fair pricing for the quality. This probably has ruined fish and chips for me for the rest of my life. lol.
google avatar

Yelp
On our drive up the Oregon Coast, we stayed in a little town called Yachats (ya-hawts" cute sleepy little town. We came by Luna Sea Fish House 30 min before closing. Everyone was super nice there!! The clam chowder had pretty good flavor and not too salty like some places. But don't expect a lot of clams. The garlic bread was there for dipping up all the goodness. The show stealer was the Fried Giant Prawns and Chips!! A must!! So so good! They pretty much have any condiment you usually eat with your seafood meal to choose from.
google avatar

Ilona S.

Yelp
Halibut (fried) is super good. Fries it comes with are not fried enough and served as steak fries, very starchy and not appetizing. Service is appalling, seriously one of the worst in the coast. But their halibut is just soooo good, it deserves some stars
google avatar

Frank C.

Yelp
My Albacore and chips was perfect. Small cubes with a light batter, crisp chips, and fast service. The staff are attentive and helpful. The menu has all fresh seafood and enough variety for everyone.
google avatar

Liliana G.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect fried Halibut! The batter is light, crispy, and flavorful! You can can get grilled fish instead, but this stuff is worth the calories.
google avatar

Carly H.

Yelp
Are you out of your mind?! The full Luna Sea Platter with Fries is $27. I ordered the half order (which is half the price plus $3...you do the math). I got one scallop, one shrimp, and two bites of halibut. It wasn't even a meal. This was my second visit here. A year ago I had the slumgullion and it was great but I had no idea anything else on their menu would be a straight up over priced disaster. Do better. I won't be back.

Yelp
My family used to live up here and always bragged about how amazing it was so we made a detour for a quick lunch before heading home. They were absolutely right! Everything so was flavorful and i had never had fried wild king salmon. We tried the new England clam chowder, and we both would have preferred it to be a little thicker but that is just a personal preference. Nothing to do with the flavor or quality. For an entree, we tried the Luna sea combo and chips. All the fish was moist, and flaky. Absolutely perfect. The fries were ok, nothing to brag about but really.. I'm not coming for the fries. The service was meh. I'm not sure if the server was overwhelmed or maybe something else was going on. We had to ask for a several things more than once (diet soda, ranch).
google avatar

Arlene L.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch, had clam chowder, cod fish n chips, fish taco. Everything was delicious! The fish & chips were light and crispy, light salt gave it a good flavor with the malt vinegar condiment, fries equally good, the clam chowder was tasty (and even had a piece of crab in it) although there was way too much potatoes, more like potatoe chowder with little bits of clam, and the fish taco was yummy.

Yelp
We've been eating at the Luna fish trip on our annual road trip up the oregon coast for the past 6 or 7 years. I have tried a LOT of fish and chips in my life. This is consistently the best fish and chips I have ever had. I have tried fish and chips up and down the west coast and, while I have found some good ones, none have ever topped Luna's. They used to use Lingcod. Don't know if they still do but it is still absolutely delicious. Every year I start thinking that maybe my memory will be better than the food turns out to be when I actually get there but I have been pleasantly surprised that the fish and chips is always as good as I remember. W and Little both feel the same way. Little always gets the albacore. She loves it. I don't usually order albacore if I have a choice as I prefer other fish fried but, tasting hers, Luna nails it as well. Their fires are not terrible but I wish they would get better ones. Or maybe the fries just pale in comparison to the amazing fish. The coleslaw is really good. Contains apple. It is a great accompaniments to the fish and chips. We stayed in Yachats 2 days on this trip and ate a Luna both nights. We planned on getting something other than the fish and chips the second night to expand our horizons but, we just couldn't not order the fish and chips the second night. I'm sure their other stuff is pretty good (it looks good) but I can't tear myself away from the fish and chips.

Yelp
Went here for a group lunch with my colleagues. We sat outside under the covered patio area. The area was heated. The staff were friendly and most of the food was good. We ordered a shrimp cocktail which consisted of a bowl of tiny shrimp and some cocktail sauce. It definitely wasn't what I'm used to when I see shrimp cocktail. The staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered the Luna Sea Combo and everything was delicious except for the coleslaw. The coleslaw had apples in it, which may have been fine if the coleslaw itself didn't seem like it was rotten. I took one bite of it and spit it out. The fish and chips were really good and I enjoyed the Salmon the best. I'd return and forego the coleslaw.

Yelp
I always love stopping in Yachats when I am passing through. It is such a quaint little beach town with a lot to offer. This was my third visit to Luna but it has been a little over 2 years since my last. It was a beautiful day at the coast so we decided to sit outside. They have open seating around the building as well as a covered outside area or, if you prefer, there is seating inside. The service is always great and this time was no exception. I decided on the halibut and chips grilled and my daughter got the sea platter. Our plates were $25 and $28. I am sad to say that since I was here last the portion size has decreased and the price has increased. I was a little underwhelmed when they brought it out. Fortunately the quality is still on point though. I love that when you ask for tartar sauce they bring out the large squeeze bottle instead of a little cup. The bathroom facility could use some serious cleaning attention. The total for the meal with tip was $71 for the two dishes and one soda. They have a city tax on meal service as well. My personal opinion is that it was much more expensive than I have paid at other similar coast establishments with equal quality food including the restaurants awarded best fish and chips like Luna has been. Unfortunately this may be my last time here because of this. The food was great but not worth $71 especially in this economy.

Yelp
20 min wait outside, no staff to see what we wanted but hey we got water so that's something I guess. Beware anyplace you intend to eat in Waldport it seems to be a trend
google avatar

Nieshelle J.

Yelp
We ordered fried salmon and shrimp. Everything was as bland as the service. Clam chowder was super bland. Our waiter was super odd. We felt like we were bothering him when asking for anything.
google avatar

Lynette C.

Yelp
Outdoor seating area is completely wind proof and has great outdoor heating and large center gas fire attraction. Food was fresh and tasty. Our Rottweiler was welcomed which was really nice!
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
Tasty fish and chips! Nice crunchy batter for the fish, chips are wide-cut "steak fries" style. I got the Luna sea platter with chips (halibut, scallops, and prawns). The halibut was on the small size, but the scallops and prawn were good sized. I wished I would have eaten there though, because by the time I got home with my takeout order, my scallops and the fries had lost their crispiness. The scallops were perfectly cooked (not overcooked, which can make them rubbery). Good coleslaw too (not too creamy), with the perfect amount of small chunks of apple to add crispness and sweetness. Overall, it was tasty!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Amazing cod and chips! Had to ask for tartar sauce, but when they brought it, it was a giant squeeze bottle! Sat outside at picnic table area with live cello music. I loved it. My companion was underwhelmed by his teriyaki albacore sandwich and did not care for the music, but I'm writing this review and it was a great experience.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Good fish and chips in a nice outdoor setting. We walked into Luna's on a Thursday night and sat right down. They have a good selection of Oregon craft beers. My wife ordered the fried cod and chips, which was a good sized order with 4 pieces of nicely fried fish. She said it was good. I had an order of two fish tacos. These were overflowing with filling and very tasty. Chips were nice and crispy. Staff was friendly. Worth a stop when you're in Yachats.

Yelp
Parking is almost hidden, just drop over the edge and there it is, 5 slots. Be careful you don't take out the picnic tables while you're trying to maneuver into one of the parking slots. The establishment has that gritty, rugged feel but the tables are clean. The staff are jovial and friendly enough.. there was one though, .....the brusqueness was almost comical, 'would you like a straw hon?' ....turns around and walks away! Hahahaa!! So, here we are, sitting inside a very sturdy well built but open shack. No frills here, wooden picnic benches with plastic table cloths stapled down to prevent the wind from blowing them away. Partially enclosed, we did have a view of the dishwasher station and condiments bottle refill station while the staff in crab-ship deckhand attire moved back and forth with plastic trays of food. The Mrs has a thing against flies... There are some oily feeling plastic folders being held down by a condiment tray. Inside the folder you find some laminated well worn menu pages as well as a couple of coloring book pages for kids to play on. They serve both types of clam chowder here, Manhattan and New England. We both opted for the New England chowder. I got a cup of chowder, she got a bowl. She received a full bowl of chowder, I received the same size bowl but it was only half full. Both had a sprinkling of what appeared to be paprika . The chowder is heavy in potato Not a lot of clam but the pieces that are there are large. The flavor is almost there. Added salt and pepper to wake it up a bit. The clam and chips were Also seasoned with a sprinkling of paprika. The clam strips definitely made up for the lack of flavor in the chowder. The strips are large and battered with a nicely seasoned batter. Clams are usually always a bit chewy but these are close to being tender. Homemade coleslaw is pretty good. They went light on the sauce but it came out moist and refreshing.

Yelp
This place is the busiest place in town, it usually gives decent enough service. The food is okay. Nothing over the top. The prices are high because you are eating seafood at the busiest place in a small town on the Oregon Coast. We have had quite a few meals here as well as purchased seafood from the counter. Our last visit was a complete bust. We watched 3 different parties get up and leave due to ZERO service. It was a busy day, but after waiting 25 minutes, we were the 4th party to leave unattended. They had music which was nice, lots of outdoor seating, just so one serving the area. Better luck next time. Luna Sea you later.
google avatar

Jenna M.

Yelp
Hands down the best seafood house on the Oregon coast. You can get raw seafood to go, or order from the restaurant. This place has been around for some time and been on my mind for at least 10 years. I haven't had it in a few, but was so excited to bring my dear friend to Yachats and give her a taste of Luna Sea! And now, they have a bigger sea house location up the road in Seal Rock. I believe the owner is a captain of a large fishing boat and sells everything they catch. The place is very very small inside. Seating is outside at picnic style tables. I believe there is a covered area as well. The (deep fried) tiger prawns are probably my number one favorite food. We've also tried the scallops and they were good. I wish there was a different side option, or just more shrimp would be fine! Side note, One time I had called to order tiger prawns and they were out, but they told me to come back tomorrow as the captain was going out, and it was worth the wait. The best fresh shrimp ever.
google avatar

Meagan C.

Yelp
We loved this quaint fish house. My husband and I split the combo and a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was just okay, but we welcomed the warmth in the brisk evening air. The fish seemed to perfectly cooked, and it was a good way for us to try different kinds. They were all good. My favorite was the albacore. Don't expect much by way of service, seemed like a Skelton crew but we didn't mind.
google avatar

Amelia R.

Yelp
Unfortunately the breakfast here was a miss. We had lunch and their fish and chips were to die for so we wanted to try the breakfast. The potatoes were so oily all I was tasting was oil and the same could be said for the French toast. The service was quick and friendly and we loved the coastal decor. We will definitely be back, just not for breakfast.
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
We stopped here while on a day trip to Yahats with family. Our large group was seated right away for lunch. Most of us ordered the fish and chips which were absolutely delicious. My daughter got the fried prawns - the serving was enough for her lunch and then a takeout container to save for dinner that night. My son and I got the fish tacos. Overflowing with fish, guacamole, slaw and pico. Chips are hot and salty.
google avatar

Marshall G.

Yelp
This was a superior lunch stop. The owners brings in fish on his boat. I did the big platter and it was halibut fish n chips n scallops and jumbo shrimp. IPA beer to top it off. I would love to work my way thru the menu. All offered fried or grilled. We had it both ways. Excellent.

Sunny S.

Yelp
All I can say is YUM! Their fish and chips are outstanding! It is always fresh and hot. No fishy smell here. The tartar sauce is very tasty. I did add some salt but that is my preference. The service is friendly and best of all, FAST! We love this place!
google avatar

Soumya A.

Yelp
We were in Yachats for one night and saw that this place had an insane amount of reviews. Naturally, we had to try it ourselves :-) The place has limited seating indoors, but they have a very cute setup outside with a wooden tent-like structure. My boyfriend got the fish and chips, while I got the fish tacos. Fish tacos - each taco had a combination of three kinds of fish, which I thought was pretty unique. The fish itself was marinated, and the taco came with pico and coleslaw. I would give this a 3/5, as the taco was filled generously with fish but lacked other flavor and was a bit dry. Cod and chips - the cod seemed to be coated very nicely and tasted crispy. It didn't come with tartar sauce, so we had to ask our server who was able to bring us some. This was also a 3/5, tasted like fish and chips, but not out of this world. I'll also note that vegetarian options are limited to a burrito or a veggie burger. Overall, this is still a good establishment to check out if in Yachats and will be a good meal if you like fish / seafood.
google avatar

Alicia B.

Yelp
Best clam strips EVER! They were meaty and light breading with a squirt of lemon and salt, mmmm I am literally craving them again. The chips, fries also perfectly hot, crisp and delicious. For this basket bring fried it didn't feel as heavy due to the light breading and meaty clam pieces. The steamer clams were cooked to goodness with a yummy buttery broth to dip the garlic crisp bread they serve with if, perfect match! Service wasn't anything great nor was it bad, I could tell the team were all very busy but worked together to get the food out and make the customers happy, they did their best . The grilled basket was a hit as well. Either way you won't be disappointed They had some live music as well. There is no indoor seating just as an FYI
google avatar

Jannalyn F.

Yelp
Just as amazing as last time. The covered and heated outdoor seating is a nice addition. Makes the atmosphere cozy and relaxing. Service is wonderful - attentive and prompt.

Big John 2.

Yelp
The absolute worst service at a restaurant I have ever had, apparently customers are just in the way - I think the wait staff would prefer to have no customers and no tips we will never go this location again, maybe try the one in seal rock next time, I will also never recommend this to anyone going to Yachats ever again we couldn't wait to get to the coast this time and eat at our favorite place plus the food was soggy and anything we asked for was ignored I hope the owner or manager reads these reviews
google avatar

Mich T.

Yelp
Great spot- ample outdoor sits. Ordered the clam chowder and cod fish and chips. Both were delicious and fish was fantastic.

Eric P.

Yelp
My wife commented, maybe the manager is on vacation! Clam strips were blobs of dough(see picture below) and under cooked at that. My Luna seafood plate platter (scallops, fish, prawns) came with only one prawn....and the batter was so undercooked it was dripping off my fish. On the other hand my Scallops were big and perfectly cooked. So 1 of three for the platter. The wait staff was having an off night. One server delivered my cash change to the wrong table, another one insisted that the cloudy beer was a pilsner ( it was an IPA). We laughed until we cried, then we got appetizers at the hotel.
google avatar

Kayiona G.

Yelp
I was looking for a seafood place because I was driving along the coast. This place looked promising because of the many reviews and the fresh food. The menu had a bunch of fish options. The workers were the sweetest and I love how the restaurant is a house. There is a ton of seating on both sides. I got the clam chowder with garlic bread and it was filled with clams and potatoes. The cod fish and chips was super crispy and the fries were amazing. I like the paprika seasoning that they add on top. There was a decent amount of people at the restaurant, so I knew this place was a local favorite. I would recommend coming here for fresh food and amazing service.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
This is a decent little restaurant. Wheelchair access was a bit awkward in this older space. The food was good and the servers were nice.

lily d.

Yelp
it is very yummy!!!! if you like fish!!!! yummy yummy oh in my tummy yummy yummy oh in my tummy

Mary G.

Yelp
Service was good, ambiance was casual and relaxed. Parking sucked but location was next to everything and near the water. Onto the food- the fried halibut was good and fresh. Thin batter which i appreciated and they do grilled instead if you want which is nice. But the clam chowder just tasted like water. The tartar sauce was mostly mayo, not much seasoning. The fries were bad. Stale hot styrofoam with a seasoning that wasnt bad but only touched a couple fries. The cole slaw had no flavor at all, just vaguely sweet wet cabbage. Not worth the parking hassle but i would take my grandma here because she would appreciate the blandness and the cute name.

Susie G.

Yelp
Biggest fried prawns and scallops I have ever had in a deep fried basket. Very fresh. Sitting outside and live music was fun. Service was ok. We got served fairly fast.
google avatar

Chandra R.

Yelp
3 stars for the fish in the fish n chips, that was really tasty with good tartar sauce (that no one brought us with the order, had to hunt it down), if I just had the clam chowder and fries it would be 2 stars. Chowder is very thin and lacking in flavor and clams. More of a potato soup. Fries were cold and not crispy and lacking in seasoning too. Service was not good. We never saw the same person twice. No one checked in to see if we wanted more drinks or how our food was. Had to track someone down for our check after waiting awhile.
google avatar

Tami W.

Yelp
We've tried this place twice. Food is tasty and other diners raved about the fish & chips, but I would not recommend for celiacs. They have a separate dryer for fries and will grill fish, but no guarantees on GF. Seafood mix on tacos tasted a little off, but it may be the sauce used. All that said I would definitely recommend the clam chowder. Although not GF, the clams were plentiful and the most tender I've had. (Perhaps they'll make it GF in the future?) Servers were friendly and the ambiance matches a seafood diner.
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
Great food. Friendly servers and reasonable prices. Some of the freshest seafood on the coast
google avatar

Winter B.

Yelp
Such a good spot for a quick bite to eat while visiting the Oregon coast. The fish and chips were definitely a standout. Would recommend getting that if you come here. Food comes fast and great seating-indoor and outdoor. Servers were very friendly. Reasonable prices.
google avatar

Paul N.

Yelp
Great clam chowder, Good fish & chips, The steamed clams were very bland. easy atmosphere, funny wait staff. I would go back.

Yelp
4.5* Ug always stop here when in town after day in nature. Ug like portion and especially love the quality of what is served to Ug. Ug like battered and fried but grill good too. Ug usually have good to great experience even with lil cave demons travel with Ug and Cavemate. (Pro tip) if full and take home, reheat steak fries in air fryer at 360 for 8 min (5 min if you don't want to pre heat). Add fish at turn point (at start beep after preheating 5m if lazy) and enjoy. Ug longs for his next visit.
google avatar

Tracy D.

Yelp
This place DEFINITELY lives up to the expectations of what you read about. It is an absolute MUST try if you are in the area and craving delicious fried fish and chips. I had a combo platter of three fish: had the halibut and albacore fried but the salmon baked. Mmmmmmmm good. Their tartar sauce is also AMAZING. Staff are really kind and welcoming. The seating areas are divided up from coastal cottage feel to dicey.
google avatar

nancy O.

Yelp
Good food and great menu choices. But please consider omitting the apples in the fish tacos! A spicy salsa and jalapeños on the side would be great!

Stellar E.

Yelp
Hands down the best fish & chips on the Oregon coast. It's a sweet casual spot (think picnic tables, paper napkins) where you can bring your dog and eat outside with friends. We go out of our way to make a trip when traveling anywhere within an hour or two of this location. Some items we've tried have been pretty good: chowder, fish tacos, fried clams, etc. But the standout is always the halibut fish and chips. It's a little pricier, at $25 a plate, but it's absolutely worth getting. The fries are good, the coleslaw is great - not swimming in mayo, a little lighter and fresher with apple to sweeten it up - and the halibut is absolutely excellent. It's fried without being greasy, perfectly done every time, and the portion includes 5 or 6 large pieces. The halibut is consistently buttery and not-too-fishy, very nice with lemon to brighten it up. Tartar sauce is always on the table but you won't want it - the fish speaks for itself. Service here ranges and there can be a wait for food on busy summer weekends, but you'll forgive all once you get your halibut fish & chips. We like this location on a day where you can sit outside, and kids will love to walk next door to Toppers for ice cream and candy, and don't miss checking out the insane rock museum/shop behind the restaurant, as well, if you'er into rocks. I had never before in my life bought any type of restaurant merch until Luna Sea, and on our last visit I had to pick up a t-shirt, because the halibut fish & chips is just that good.

Yelp
Excellent fresh fish, cool beer, and fine service. Can't be beat. The atmosphere is all beach and there are option for indoor or outdoor seating.
