London’s New Restaurant Openings - London - The Infatuation

"You’ll hear a lot about Theo James—actor, man of highly defined cheekbones—being part of the team that’s opening Lupa (alongside the co-founder of Carousel). But the Roman-influenced menu at this Highbury spot is arguably even more exciting. Think supplí, slow-roasted porchetta, polpette al sugo, and fresh pasta dishes. There isn’t a lot of wiggle room in Lupa’s tiny dining room and nor does the restaurant have a phone number. Primetime reservations are at a premium, so it’s unlikely you’re going to get a specific Friday night in mind. Be flexible and set alerts; cancellations tend to happen the day before if you’re willing to move fast. FYI, they operate a strict 90-minute turnover." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Great place with lovely atmosphere. The neighbourhood is in need of more restaurants like this one. I would only say that the portions are a bit small. Otherwise, everything was lovely. Keep it up 👌🏼😊

Had our second visit to this restaurant and I must say that I think its getting better. Staff were friendly and the head chef was also so happy that we had returned, It was such a nice feeling to have such a warm welcome back. I have to say that the Artichoke dish is one that I will always remember. It was amazing. Just adding to the hype as this place is amazing. Such a great vibe from such a small place. Just what London needs. Food is to die for! The only downfall was the Tiramisu which was over rated for the size and the price. I have had better at other hyped up London places. But everything else is remarkable. The courgettes are one of the best things I have tasted

We came for dinner and while the atmosphere was pleasant and the food generally being good, it still didn’t quite live up to the hype. The service in particular, felt a bit cold and could definitely be warmer and more attentive. Between the two of us, we shared the fried courgette flower (very small portion but tasty), carbonara (this was delicious and our favourite), cacio pepe (nice but nothing special), lamb chop (well cooked but the fat could have been rendered more), the asparagus, artichoke, pea side (there wasn't even a full piece of asparagus, no artichoke to be seen and felt really stingy at £7 plus the cream didn't do it for me) and the tiramisu (the sponge was overly soaked and the overall texture was mushy). They brought the bill without asking even though we still had time left in our 1.5 hour allocated seating which already feels like a rushed timeslot.

We just had dinner at Lupa last night and had the best time: the stuff, the food, the atmosphere - everything was perfect.

The food excellent felt like an Italian back street eatery in Rome / Venice what a compliment to the neighbour that they choose highbury , to set up. Had a really lovely night at Lupa for my fiancé and I’s anniversary. Really friendly service, wine was amazing and food was great. Fairly priced too, only thing I would say is the courgette flowers (which are amazing!!) are a little small so you need one each.

Our experience at this restaurant was a bit underwhelming. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table, and no one apologised. For such a small place, there were surprisingly many waitresses, but the service did not feel especially attentive. On the positive side, the focaccia and tomatoes were excellent and flavourful. However, we were disappointed with the carbonaras. The dish lacked flavour overall, with the pepper being too dominant. The guanciale, while tasty, was only present in a few pieces. Overall, we left a bit disappointed and are not sure we would return.
