The Newest Restaurants In Philadelphia

"There’s an endless amount of dumplings in Chinatown. In walks Luscious Dumplings to add its name to the list. The L.A. based shop comes to Philly with The Michelin Guide on its resume and angus beef buns, noodle soups, and about 11 dumplings on the menu. They’re open from 11am-9:30pm, making it an easy stop for a quick lunch with coworkers or a dumpling-filled dinner.   We checked out Luscious Dumplings. Read our thoughts here. Luscious Dumplings Philly Review - Chinatown - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"A Michelin-starred transplant from California, Luscious Dumplings brings—you guessed it—lots of dumplings, along with meat-packed noodle soups and vegetable-forward snacks to Chinatown. The clean, modern space is comfortable for groups of all sizes, and at lunchtime it’s busy with multi-gen families and co-workers. Unfortunately, we think they left their seasonings in Anaheim: both the steamed soup dumplings and their pan-fried siblings lack any flavor and are light on filling. Steer clear of the bok choy and broccoli sides, which are similarly bland and boring. The highlights here are the noodle soups—the one with tender angus beef is our favorite, and the broth is savory and comforting—and the flawless scallion pancakes. It’s serviceable for a quick, noodle-y lunch, but when the craving for soup dumplings hits, head to Dim Sum Garden instead." - Alison B. Kessler

The Best Places to Eat Chinese Food in Philly | Eater Philly

"Carol Wong, the owner and director of Chinatown Learning Center, comes to this spot inside Chinatown Square for a satisfying meal with a few of her favorite things: pork fish dumplings, salt and pepper wings, and peanut sesame noodles. She also enjoys Philly Poke, a neighboring food stall, for their salmon sashimi poke bowl with brown rice, edamame, avocado, seaweed, crab, toasted onions, cucumbers, and sesame dressing." - Diana Lu

Walked past this place a couple of times while in China Town so had to make the stop. The name of the place was what caughy my attention. Inside it was very spacey and lots of tables to sit at. We got greeted and seated right away. We got the scallion pancakes, steamed snow crabs and pork soup dumplings and the cutie piggy buns. All comes out to be total of $25 and some change which is AWESOME! -Scallion pancakes is delicioua, it is crispy and thin and flavoring is just right (it’s deff not like scallion pancakes anywhere that i have had before) - Snow crabs and pork soup dumplings: thin and chewy outside and flavorful and soupy on the inside. Real hot when it first came out which is perfect but not my fav soup dumplings i have had. - Piggy custard bun is delicious and my fav. Buns outside was very soft and moist and inside the custard is not too sweet and in a way creamy. Deff would come back here to get this again.

Google
This is going to be our new spot in Chinatown. Great prices. Fast service. The Kallien pancakes were so thin and crispy. One of the best I’ve ever had. Additionally the beef bowl with rice was delicious. Soup dumplings were just OK, not too much soup in it and thick dough. The noodles also were a little bit too doughy. Our favorite items were the ones without dumplings or noodles. We really like the woodier mushrooms, bean curd dish. I will definitely go again.

Google
Luscious Dumplings is one of the best new restaurants in Chinatown. They offer more than a variety of boutique handmade dumplings. There are many delicious dishes to order, from soup dumplings to very generous bowls of soup noodles. The servers are friendly and always willing to give suggestions, if you're not sure of what to get. I've never been disappointed and I have always left the place with a full stomach! Also, they offer gluten-free and vegan dishes!

Google
Luscious Dumplings was amazing! My absolute favorite was the soup dumplings and the Angus beef bun—OMG, the steak was so tender and flavorful. I’d come back just for that bun alone. The pork belly bun was a bit too fatty for my taste, but overall, everything was delicious. Definitely worth a visit!

Katherine

Google
Overall a great experience and I would go back. Strengths: The pork belly is SO tender, the broth of the noodle soup is superb and the flavor of the beef is incredible. Lotus root salad is crispy and refreshing. The prices!!!!!! We’re so reasonable we ordered a TON of food and paid only 90$ for two apps and four mains. Weaknesses: soup dumplings had little soup and the pan fried dumplings were underfilled. Food came out very fast!

Google
Very big inside. We ordered soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and scallion pancakes— we were stuffed! Such great proportions of food for the prices. I absolutely loved the pan fried dumplings as it had a more unique breading style. They were also very juicy, super good! Also, the sauces they pre prepare are very flavorful and delicious. Our server was very fast, efficient, and attentive to us! Loved this place.

Google
I was visiting Philadelphia and walking around China town looking for a place to eat. We were greeted immediately and sat at a table. The menu is laid out nicely with great descriptions so you know what you are ordering. We got scallion pancakes, which were the star. They were light and crispy and not greasy. The dipping sauce was slightly sweet and paired nicely. We also got soup dumplings, and I was a little disappointed because there was very little liquid or should I say soup in it. They were just ok. I would go back again just for the scallion pancakes. They service was ok, and there was chili oil and other sauces on the table. The restroom was very clean.

Google
The food was really good and despite the lack of variety, what it had was extremely fulfilling and high in quality. I especially enjoyed the steamed soup dumplings which were very hot and great. I suggest coming here: I think you'll have a pleasing experience.

Yelp
The best soup dumplings in Chinatown. Bar none. Get the pork potstickers too. Amazing, fast, and affordable. A perfect Chinatown combo.

Yelp
I came here on my trip to Philadelphia. It was welcoming and the staff there was friendly and nice. I got the Pickled vegetable with pork noodle, Angus stew beef noodle, pork soup dumplings, and hot and sour soup. Honestly, both of the noodles lacked flavor. The broth tasted the same and did not seem that special. The noodles were kind of hard to eat because it felt unappetizing in my mouth. The pork soup dumplings were very tiny. There was not enough soup inside the dumpling. The best part was the hot and sour soup. It was a bit spicy but still really good. I would've just come to drink this. The total came of about $36 which was a good deal, but still wished for a better experience.

Yelp
Finally had the opportunity to try out Luscious Dumpling in Chinatown, Philadelphia and I was pleasantly surprised by many the different dumpling options they had to offer! We decided to split the chicken dumplings, pork fried dumplings, piggy custard buns, the stewed beef rice bowl and the angus beef bun! Personally wasn't a huge fan of the piggy buns because they were sweet when I was expecting savory but so fun to get! But everything else was very tasty especially the garlic dumpling dipping sauce they let us try with the different dumplings! Perfect for sharing and definitely a spot I would go to again in the future! Try it out & let me know your thoughts! Service and ambiance was great! Very casual vibes!

Just visiting Philly on a layover and I must say it did not disappoint at all. Very good food! I Loved everything I had and they are friendly. Great service as well.

Yelp
Was looking forward to checking out Luscious Dumplings for some time now. There are very few Asian restaurants specializing in Taiwanese cuisine in Philly, and we were hoping Luscious Dumplings could be the one that can satisfy our Taiwanese food needs now and in the future. My husband and I ordered a few of theirs dishes online including the pan-fried pork dumplings, the scallion pancake, the mushroom meat sauce rice bowl, and their signature dish - the Angus Stewed Beef Noodle. Everything tasted just okay to us. Not terrible, but not great either. Everything tasted very homely, in fact, too homely for our tastes. One thing that I did like though, was their scallion pancake is a lot thinner than other Chinese restaurants. The food items here are also priced very reasonably, and perfectly portioned for one meal. The California location might have been awarded the Bib Gourmand award in 2021, but the Philly location definitely does not taste like Bib Gourmand award level. Unfortunately, Luscious Dumplings did not satisfy our Taiwanese food cravings.

Yelp
Was pretty excited about trying this place out. I walked in with a friend and as soon as we walked in we weren't greeted which I didn't think anything of it being in the city. But then no one sat us either, which we assumed it was a seat yourself place and just sat down. A few moments later, the couple that came behind us was greeted and the waiters rushed to seat them and take their order, ignoring us. I don't like to assume things but sometimes when you look different than people, there's a prejudice that takes place. There was one man in particular that was rolling his eyes when we were talking to him which made me uncomfortable. Luckily another waiter came along who was much nicer and engaged in conversation with us. I ordered a pork bun and custard buns and my friend ordered pan fried pork dumplings. I enjoyed what I had but it's not the best I've had. I wish my experience could've been better because that may have even biased my insight on the food quality.

Yelp
The sweet egg custard dumplings are now one of my favorite desserts in Chinatown! So freaking cute and delicious! They are filled with yummy egg custard and the filling is just the right proportion, not less or more. Service was quick and no nonsense - typical of Chinatown. Will be back just for these cuties!

Yelp
A pretty solid place for some classic bites! The place itself is pretty welcoming but as a heads up, if you get seated in the back with other people, that back room does echo. It gets a little hard to hear especially if there's a group. Wait staff is pretty friendly and very attentive. My water was always filled. Oh and speaking of water, I believe it's filtered water and not straight from the tap which I appreciate~ My partner and I went with the pork knuckles, pork ears, beef stew rice bowl, custard buns, and of course the soup dumplings. The pork knuckles and ears were pretty good cold appetizers. They had the classic cold oil flavors you would expect. Oh quick tip, I really liked the chili oil that came with the pork knuckles. I actually used it to flavor some of my soup dumpling bites and other dishes! The beef stew rice bowl was actually my favorite! The beef was slow cooked, pretty tender and flavorful. Pair that with some fluffy rice and sauerkraut to cut the fattiness alone you have yourself a savory and homey bite. Great job! The custard buns are pretty cute and Instagramable, but at the end of the day, a standard custard bun. Lastly, the dumplings. I had pretty high expectations seeing that it was featured in Michelin in California. What fell short for me was, well for one, the size and texture. Not saying this is a make or break, but when I think soup dumplings, I think soupy, I think of that dumpling with a "dress" look, I think kind of a thin dough, I think umami. This didn't hit the spot, for me. To put things in perspective, after my first dumpling, I didn't do the ritual of taking a nimble, sucking the juice, and filling it with the vinegar, soy sauce, and ginger mix. The dumpling was a bit small to hold any soup and the meat was a bit bland. That "bite" you expect wasn't there, at least for me at this visit and actually my previous visit. Overall, a pretty solid place for a casual dining experience. I would recommend this as a quick grab and go bite like maybe lunch. This place reminds me of Nan Xiao Long Bao in Cherry Hill, small plates with soup dumplings. Oh I remember the fried dumplings were pretty good last time I visited. Take your friends for a quick bite as you continue to tour around Chinatown!

Yelp
This Michelin guided LA restaurant is finally here in Philly! It's getting quickly recognized for cute piggie custard dumplings. Which surprisingly were vegan! Anyway a friend and I stopped by and ordered the chicken dumplings, scallion pancakes , crispy beef pancakes, the noodle soup and the soup dumplings. These are pretty solid dumplings! Flavorful and filling, service is quick and the menu is both in English and mandarin? Ambiance is simple and clean and not cluttered unlike a lot of places in Chinatown !

Yelp
Luscious Dumplings is relatively new addition to Race St. In Chinatown. It was recommended to us by AM Hair Salon. Luscious is very nice inside ans modern. Their menu is compact which is good. We had the soup dumplings and they were good. The broth and pork were tasty and rhe dumpling wrapper was not too thick. It wasn't the best soup dumpling I ever had but it was up there. We also had the beef brisket noodle soup, and that was very good. The beef was tender and flavorful. Would like to return and try the pan fried dumplings. Service was very friendly and the food came out fast. I would definitely go back when in Chinatown. The only problem is there are so many new places in Chinatown, it's getting hard to try them all!

Yelp
We got take away of four orders of pork and crab soup dumplings. They were honestly just so so they all looked exactly the same meaning they were machine made and/or packaged/frozen. They lacked any oomph in flavor. They were ready on time from phone order and packaged nicely. Wouldn't rush back

Yelp
Luscious dumplings definitely lives up to it's name and reputation. A well deserved Michelin-starred restaurant. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Considering the amount of food we got, $70 before tip is a steal. Great service as well.

Yelp
Spontaneously stumbled upon the newest soup dumpling place in Chinatown after getting bubble tea from my favorite place - chi San. I read an inquirer article saying how this was a Michelin recommended restaurant and would be open soon! I think it's been opened only a couple weeks when we stopped in! No wait when we got there, no reservations needed but it filled up quickly. Ambience is nice, clean and spacious. Waitstaff were super friendly and spoke English. We ended up at a table where the HVAC had water condensation dripping on us but they were quick to offer us a different table, we declined and just kept the food away from the water drops lol. Since it was just 2 of us, couldn't order as much as we would have me wanted but we tried! The piggy custard buns were delish - maybe a little more custard and it would have been perfect. The scallion pancakes were meh. Interesting they tasted like a mix between scallion pancakes and naan - I prefer the super crispy version and this one was softer. The soup dumplings were the star of the show! We sadly only got one order and chose the snow crab and pork ones, sooooooo good! The dough is lighter, the broth and filling were well seasoned and tasty - would have liked just a bit more broth and it would also have been perfect. I am a soup dumpling aficionado, from dim sum garden all the way to cherry hill's nan Xiang and a whole bunch in between - luscious dumplings has the BEST overall pork soup dumpling.

Yelp
Had a very satisfying meal here. The dumplings were delicious. I tried the boiled and pan-fried dumplings, and I like the boiled ones better. The pan-fried ones looked smaller than in the picture, and the filling was a bit too salty for me. The boiled dumplings were perfect though. The dumpling skin was just the right thickness (not too thick, but also not wonton-wrapper-thin), and the filling was flavorful and juicy. There were probably 1-2 shrimp pieces in each filling. The scallion pancake was also so good. It was flaky (like a roti) and really not too greasy, which I appreciate because scallion pancakes usually are really greasy. They were very fragrant and just made perfectly. The beef tendon was also good. It had a good chew, and wasn't cooked down too much, which is how I like it. It was on the saltier side though. The mushroom meat noodles weren't bad, but probably my least favorite thing out of everything we ordered. Everything else was just really good. The mushroom mix was a bit sour (and not from the picked mustard). The noodles were a bit overcooked and a little bit too thick for my liking. The clear broth it came with was fragrant, light, and comforting though. Would love to return. Food was delicious and satisfying. Out of everything, my favorites were the boiled dumplings and scallion pancakes. Service was great, and atmosphere was clean and calm (they were playing some jazz music surprisingly). I did find it odd though that the servers rushed to give us the check and made us sign when we were still eating, even though the store was 90% empty (we came in at 11am Saturday). I wasn't sure what that was about, but the service leading to that point had all been fine.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance were all fine. The restaurant has the main dining room and another off to the side. The main dining room has a better vibe, as the side dining room has a view of the bathrooms and the water station. Overall, we wished the pan-fried dumplings had been browned a little longer. That said, our favorite dumpling was the pan-fried pork dumplings. The pan-fried chicken dumplings lacked seasoning and had a strange flavor that made us wonder if we'd received an order of the fish dumplings. The pan-fried beef-n-cheese dumplings tasted like a cheeseburger inside a dumpling--didn't work for us. Between the pork belly bun and the beef bun, I was surprised to enjoy the beef bun more--it had more flavor than the pork belly. Service was relatively quick and you pay table-side.

Yelp
Seaweed Salad, Pork Bun, Xiao Long Baos . Ooooh this place was good. We stepped in for a little snack. The inside is clean and simple. The seaweed salad was delicious and flavorful. The pork bun was a delightful surprise--I was so worried the pork would be dried out, but it was so tender and just the right amount of fatty. Delicious. The XLBs were fantastic! Solid, good stuff. Decently priced

Yelp
Vibes: casual, relatively spacious eatery; bring a friend or a few Tasting notes: - Bok Choy: individual leaves steamed to a perfect crisp with light oyster sauce drizzle - Scallion pancake: lightly salty, a very light garnish of scallions; served hot, thin and crispy; pairs nicely with the sweet sauce - Beef noodle: tender beef cubes; best part is the qq noodles; broth did not have a lot of depth - Pan-fried pork dumplings: excellent wrapper to filling ratio with a lovely uniform bottom crisp - Pork and snow crab soup buns: comes with julienned ginger; umami but light broth; love that the filling is a perfect texture and takes up most of the interior! - Piggy bun: fluffy and airy with a uniform egg yolk filling; good ratio of dough to filling Other notes: - Very fast service - Dishes come sequentially as they are made - Above selection was filling for three moderately hungry adults Impression: a very solid dumpling spot with a beginner-friendly, short menu!

Yelp
I was so excited to hear about a new dumpling spot opening in Chinatown! The pan fried dumplings and soup dumplings are spot-on!juicy and delicious! The steamed dumplings were just okay, but we definitely preferred the pan fried ones. I think the key to great dumplings lies in the sauce. All you need is a good mix of hot chili oil, soy sauce, and a bit of vinegar to bring out more flavor in the dumplings. I also had the beef noodle soup. The broth was light and refreshing, and the noodles were perfectly chewy. If you prefer a stronger flavor, you can add hot chili oil and soy sauce. I do wish their chili oil was spicier, but I did like the addition of sesame seeds. The service was excellent, very attentive and the food came out quickly. The restaurant is clean and cozy. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Yelp
The pan-fried dumplings taste better than steamed That pan-fried chives pocket was great Stewed beef tendon noodles lacked in flavor (broth) but overall the noodles had a nice chew and the tendons were nicely seasoned Service was quick with plenty of seatings.

Yelp
Mm brand new dumpling spot so had to try it. There is a paper menu and you can order with QR code on the table. Interior is brand new inside, so very clean. Many different choices for buns, dumplings, noodles, and appetizers. Dumplings with meat, fish, veggies, or vegan option. Soup dumplings were extraordinarily tasty, for dough, soup, and the filling. Pan fried dumplings also very generous with the meat filling, crisped just the right amount. And on top of that, very good price for this quality. All around top marks from me. Need to try some more of their offerings. Thanks

Yelp
Close to 3.5 stars. We went to Luscious Dumplings over the weekend. We ordered a few appetizers like marinated lotus root, wood ear mushrooms, and broccoli salad. All of them are pretty good. For the main dish, we had the stewed beef rice bowl which is excellent, the beef is tender and well seasoned. However, the pan-fried chicken dumplings are kind of soggy, and steamed snow crab and pork soup buns taste a little stale. It is a little disappointing that as a dumplings house, their dumplings are not that good, probably the same level as the frozen dumplings you get at the super market. The service is good and the store is clean.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
A great new dumpling spot to add to your list in Chinatown! Service was quick and efficient. They're known for their handmade dumplings, particularly soup dumplings. The skin was not too thick or chewy, and the soup inside was not too salty either. The pan-fried dumplings were pretty good too with a few different varieties. Lastly, scallion pancakes were super thin and not too oily. There's more to the menu than dumplings, so try out their soups and other dishes too.
google avatar

Kenneth M.

Yelp
the beef tendon rice bowl was tasty. The mala seaweed was good as well. The soup dumplings weren't good at all. They only had little amount of soup in them. Pretty bad quality considering they are supposed to be known for their dumplings. We added a beef bun to the order but it never arrived. Not sure what happened to it, we didn't get charged for it, so it wasn't a big deal. The interior was clean. Most likely not coming back again.
google avatar

Yelp
We went twice over the past week. Service is very random, one is hot another is cold. I could go into the details but overall it's opening week so they're figuring it out. I'd posit they have too many workers. The beef and onion is the best dumpling for sure. Would order that again. Everything else is OK, nothing special.

Yelp
Rewally enjoyed all the buns i got. which was basically all of them. Even my boyfriend who is not a fan of asian flavors at all enjoyed the beef bau buns and beef dumplings i got. He doesn't eat pork so i got the eat the soup dumplings for my self. Good prices too. hope it stays that way! It's also BYO but i was actually taking it to go

Nate H.

Yelp
Staff was super attentive and food was delicious. We ordered the piggy custard buns, crab and pork soup dumplings, bok choy, pan and fried buns and everything was great.
google avatar

Paula Jean K.

Yelp
Boutique handmade dumplings served here! We concentrated our meal choices on the appetizer/vegetable section of the menu. We ate wood ear mushrooms, seaweed salad in chili and garlic sauce, and piggy custard bun. All were served cold and all were delicious! Sure I thought the ratio of custard to bun was off on the piggy, but to be fair, he is the cutest custard! We also had a bowl of Angus stewed beef noodle soup with bologna choy. The meal was especially tender and we loved it dearly. Of course, since it is a dumpling house, we choose the Pan fried dumpling which was no better or worst than any dumpling I've had the pleasure of meeting. We picked up the food so I can't comment on the ambiance, but the food was ready at the time they said it would. 4 Piggy buns!!!
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
New spot that just opened up in Chinatown. Everything we got was great, beef/cheese/onion dumplings were a highlight as they kind of reminded me of a Philly cheesesteak in dumpling form. Piggy custard buns were adorable. Cucumber salad was fresh and the fish dumplings were different but still tasty. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
This is a great dumpling spot in heart of Chinatown. It's becoming very popular after seeing the dumplings that look like little piggies on Instagram. They have a fair amount of seating though. All the food was good including the soup noodles, fried dumplings, seaweed salad (a bit spicy but tasty), and soup dumplings. Service was very quick and restaurant is clean. The prices were reasonable and the portions are decent. Overall, I'd recommend this place for some good dumplings and noodles!
google avatar

Ana S.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting, and I tried their boiled beef dumplings with onions and cheese. They tasted just like a cheeseburger! The beef tendon noodle soup was absolutely delicious. The service is excellent, and the place is clean and welcoming. Honestly, I'm glad I don't live nearby, or I'd be here every day!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday shortly after opening time and we were able to be quickly seated and served. The place did fill up quickly afterwards, so make sure to come early to have a spot! The menu was an excellent selection of Chinese options and we ended up settling on some XLB, scallion pancakes and the pork belly bun- which I was surprised was only a singular bun but decently sized. I thoroughly enjoyed the scallion pancakes as they're such a staple feel good food for Chinese people and the bun was delicious (not sure if I would order it again though). The XLB were good although truthfully, nothing to write home about. They were filled with soup with a chewy skin and tender flavorful filling, but there was nothing standout about them. However, if you're looking for a place that is dependable with good Chinese food, this is definitely the place to go.

Yelp
Decent food! We tried the fried pork pan pockets and the pork and crab meat soup dumplings. Clean establishment. Friendly staff.

Yelp
I think the space is well lit and super clean. The food portion was a bit small but reasonably priced. I didn't get to tried the dumpling but will next time. Service was okay.

Yelp
Tried out this new spot in Chinatown because we heard it Michelin-approved. The atmosphere was lively, and it was very spacious. The service was good and fast as well. I was looking forward to trying the soup dumplings the most. We got the crab and pork ones. It was good soup. However, my favorite dish unexpectedly end up being the beef noodle soup (not pictured). The broth was clear and light; the beef was tender; and I liked the pickled vegetables that they had in it. Lastly, the pork and chive pockets were also good, but just a tad oily for my preference. Overall a solid place with well-priced/portioned food.

Yelp
Was super pumped that this Michelin-guide transplant from CA was now available in Philadelphia. However, this particular spot has a ton of growing pains to overcome. To start with the positives: The space itself is really quite nice. It's larger than I was expecting even after being inside. The bathrooms have a weird amount of tech (smart mirror, smart trash can, smart soap dispenser, but still a paper towel dispenser which I found strange). Probably because it had just opened they were very over-staffed, to a ratio of maybe 1 waiter per 2 customers. The prices are super reasonable for all the dishes (maybe I'm cynical but I doubt this will last). And I am a huge fan of the exorbitant branding that they put into every single piece of dishware- I'm honestly surprised the napkins didn't say Luscious Dumplings. But then there is the food. Our favorite dish was the angus stewed beef noodle. Throw some chili oil in there and it is a nice dish! But not a strong start for a dumpling-forward restaurant for your best to be a noodle dish. The major feedback I wanted to give about the dumplings is that they all should be cooked for maybe 2 more minutes. The steamed fish dumplings were fine but felt a skosh undercooked. As did the pan fried chive pockets. This latter dish really disappointed me, as I can understand not having a crisp on something advertised as steamed, but to have no crisp on what is essentially a pan fried chive pancake with filling does not sit well. We also got the steamed snow crab and pork "soup" buns. I put soup in quotes because there was no soup anywhere near the vicinity of these dumplings (feedback I now see is common in some of the other reviews). They were nice dumplings and had they been listed as normal dumplings I would say they were fine. But selling them as soup dumplings does a disservice to soup dumplings. Our final dish was the piggy custard bun. I call this our final dish but it actually came out second (of the five things we ordered), which is a strange move for a dessert. They're adorable. I wish they were a little more custardy/liquidy and less bun, but in the end you'll order this for the adorable picture and find that they are perfectly fine ends (or beginnings) to the meal. Would probably let this place declare itself in the next few months before trying it as there are so many options in the are for comparable/better options.

Yelp
Definitely lives up to its name! The food is delicious! We had the snow crab with pork broth soup dumplings, angus beef/ pork belly buns, pan fried chive pockets, wood ear mushrooms and the piggy custard buns. Everything was fresh and the service was excellent. We will return!

Yelp
California-based chain in Chinatown. Three of us, stopped in. Eager to eat here. Sampled a cross section of items: appetizers, sides, soups, dumplings. Staff didn't know menu ingredient/types of dietary restrictions. Dumplings shaped differently to tell them apart. Staff incorrectly named all 4 dumpling types placed on table. Had to tear open to see inside contents. Pork dumpling was mixed in vegetable dumplings basket. Vegan almost ate pork dumpling. Soup good broth for beef soup good, unsure of pork belly. Dumplings were just okay. Cucumbers not bad. Scallion pancakes good, really liked sauce. No one from Chinatown eating at restaurant in Chinatown? Neighborhood not impressed. Only tourist eating.

Yelp
Delicious, interesting dishes that I never tried before, and perfect soup dumplings. Ambiance's fresh, clean and bright. Service was excellent. I had the pickle and pork soup and the mushroom and meat bowl and an order of pork soup dumplings. They were finger licking, eyes closed to savor, delicious, gostosa

Yelp
Food was pretty good, service was attentive. BYOB is a nice touch. Not many options though

Yelp
Great atmosphere! The best chili oil I've had. Extremely flavorful and not very spicy.

Yelp
The pan-fried dumplings were exceptional--crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor. The soup dumplings were a standout, offering an explosion of rich, savory goodness in every bite. The scallion pancakes stole the show, perfectly cooked and elevated by a slightly sweet dipping sauce that was absolutely delicious (though I'm not sure what exactly was in it). While the seaweed salad was fresh, it leaned on the bland side and could use a bit more seasoning. Service was impressively quick and efficient. The Custard Piggy buns were visually delightful and adorable but fell short on taste, landing as just "okay." Overall, a satisfying meal with a few minor misses.

Yelp
Holiday Weekend Dumpling Hunt!!! We finally made it to Luscious Dumplings and it lived up to the hype. We walked in and were greeted right away and directed to a table. The space was brightly lit, with warm inviting furniture and decor. Our server provided us with menus and water right away. We decided to give several items a try. Hubby and I went with the Pan Fried Pork and Chicken Dumplings, Stewed Beef Rice Bowl, and Pork Dumpling Soup. The Beef rice bowl was delicious. The beef was tender and the sauce very tasty. It was the best of the items we tried. Next best was the Pork Dumpling Soup- the broth was very tasty. Of the two types of dumplings the pork were better than the chicken. The chicken lacked some spices that would have made it more flavorful. Overall I think the filling of the dumplings could use a bit more flavor but it was still a good experience. When I come back to Philly and in the mood for dumplings. Luscious is on my list.

Yelp
I ain't even gonna lie. I was not expecting the food here to be this good. I was expecting it to be like any other restaurants with different cooks in the back at any given time. But to my surprise, this place was pleasantly delicious! So authentic. Not over powering with flavors but just the right amount! 9.5 out of ten for sure!

Yelp
We arrived at Luscious Dumplings in Chinatown right before the dinner rush (I suggest you do the same, especially on the weekends) for a lovely family dinner. The soup dumplings were flavorful, although they could have had more soup inside. The restaurant was clean, and the staff members were friendly. They made a couple of mistakes with our orders, but were quick to fix them. The menu is straightforward and not too extensive, which I appreciated. The pricing is very reasonable. Overall, I'd recommend trying it out.

Yelp
The cold dishes are so flavorful and fresh! And the DUMPLINGS OMG so juicy and the skin is the perfect thinnest for dumplings! The servers are very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is modern, clean and very cozy! I definitely will be back!!

Yelp
Good service overall! We were from out of town and it was a great place to refuge from the unfamiliar heat. As for the food -- Chicken dumplings 9/10: good flavor and texture Cucumbers 8/10: refreshing, very garlic-y Xiao long bao 4/10: not a lot of flavor, meat wasn't super seasoned, not a lot of soup in it. Cold pork appetizer 6/10: wish it had more seasoning as well Beef plate 4/10: small portion, pickled veggies were very bitter

Yelp
FINALLY some good dumplings in Philly!! After being hurt by Philly dumpling spots many many times, I was elated after trying these. My favorite was the classic soup dumpling - perfectly thin skin with juicy and tasty filling. The chicken pan fried had great filling, but I do with the dumplings were crispier and more overall fried as they look in the menu photo. The service was quick and friendly, and the general ambiance inside was clean and well designed.
