"There’s something about curry in the comforts of home that just never gets old. Luckily, the dishes at Thai standby Luv2Eat stand up to takeout, and the portions are often large enough to have leftovers. Start with pad see ew, or pad Thai, before adding in curry, tom kha, and other Thai classics. Make sure to add the jade noodles topped with barbecue pork, crispy pork, and roasted duck. If looking for another takeout option from Luv2Eat, head next door to Thai Street Food by Luv2Eat Express, where the same team is dishing up Southern Thai curries, braised beef noodles, and more. Order pick-up or delivery on Uber Eats." - Rebecca Roland
"As one of Los Angeles’s most popular trails, Runyon Canyon is always a scene. For a post-hike lunch with chill vibes, head to the laid-back Luv2Eat Thai Bistro just down the street. Diners in the know order the Hat Yai fried chicken first, since it can take up to 30 minutes to prepare, before perusing the menu of curries, noodles, and more. The spice levels here are no joke, so many cool down with Thai iced tea while braving the menu’s spice-laden heat." - Rebecca Roland
"Luv2eat looks like any other strip mall restaurant in the city, but the Thai food and the warm service make this one of our favorite restaurants in all of LA. Its greatness lies in the Chef’s Special section of the menu, a mixed bag of dishes that showcases the two chefs’ family recipes from Phuket. Get the Phuket-style crab curry. When combined with the fatty crab meat bathing at the bottom, it takes sweet, salty, and sour to euphoric levels. Even the moo-ping, a simple grilled pork skewer appetizer, is marinated and charred so perfectly that it should be rebranded as candy on a stick." - brant cox
"Aside from its breadth, spice, and always busy dining room, the best part of Los Angeles icon Luv2Eat’s menu would be its clearly labeled (and plentiful) gluten-free offerings. Dishes like the pad ka prao noodles, sour Issan sausage, and spicy-sour tom kha soup are all gluten-free-friendly and kicked up considerably by the restaurant’s storied chile content. Its sister restaurant Luv2Eat Express, located just steps away from the OG shop, has equally good options presented in a mix-and-match steam table format." - Nicole Adlman
"We wouldn’t fault you for assuming Luv2Eat Express was just a takeout version of its famous sibling. We kind of did. But once you’re inside this tiny Hollywood spot, you’ll realize it’s a different concept altogether: a steam table setup serving Southern Thai curries and stir-fries. Ordering is done cafeteria-style: pick a combo plate ($18 for three dishes with jasmine rice is a perfect lunch) then choose from a dozen options like Phuket braised pork belly and sour yellow curry with bamboo. Every dish is incredibly flavorful, and often, incredibly spicy. So much so there’s a “caution of spiciness” sign taped on the wall. Proceed accordingly, and grab a Thai iced tea from the cooler in case of emergency." - brant cox, arden shore, garrett snyder, sylvio martins
