The 22 Best Bars In Lisbon 2024

"Thanks to this famous Lisbon nightclub, “luxing” has become a verb. Getting past the doorman is a rite of passage for teenagers and young adults throughout the city—the key to success, no matter how old you are, is to arrive “early,” which means around 11pm. Once you pass through the doors into this massive cement block on the banks of the river, you'll discover three floors. The top has a terrace overlooking the Tagus River, and the middle is the disco-themed floor with high ceilings, large windows, and four separate bar spaces, one of which is dedicated exclusively to wine. The basement is where you'll dance until dawn to some of Europe’s best electronic DJs." - rita geraldes

"You have to be in a certain mindset to enter Lux, a mega club with Studio 54 vibes that’s partially owned by John Malkovich. We recommend going with a group and dancing with abandon to house music, then watching the sun rise on the rooftop at the end of the night."

One star is to much to give. Once we were the next in line to scan our tickets we were addressed very rude. The tickets were scanned but they said the ticket denied immediately. The door host (female) said with all the 12 tickets, you’ll get a refund on monday. We were denied access to the club. If you want to go out and have a good time and spend your money do it elsewhere!!!!!

Best club in Lisbon! Great music and great vibes. Good service overall, and bathrooms always in good condition. Great to mix up between the floors and different DJs, and the balcony offers a good break with river views.

We read reviews of this nightclub where people said that people were denied their entrance, even though they paid. We tried to think positively and bought the tickets, but it was true. We bought tickets for 16€ and they refused to let in us in. Worst club in lissabon!

Google
Genuinely the emptiest and lamest club I have ever been to. My friends and I visited at 1am on a Friday. I’ve lived in multiple countries and go out Wednesdays-Saturdays on a weekly basis, so this is saying a lot. Not even my drunk friend group had fun. Save your money (14 euro cover) and don’t visit — LuxFragil is a waste of time and sobering experience.

Google
Great night out in Lisbon. Visited for first time being recommended by a friend last Saturday, very fair entry price (14 euros per person) and drinks prices as well. Overall beautiful venue with three rooms with different music and vibes. Bartenders and security very friendly and professional. Can’t wait to be back!

After reading reviews about tourists not getting in we were apprehensive. Take it with a pinch of salt however because we got in no problem whatsoever as non Portuguese speakers but I did hear and see other people getting rejected that night. Helped to go early and buy tickets on the door I think. Spacious club with good music, cool lights and friendly, respectful people. Only drawback is overpriced drinks given a €14 entry ticket price.

Google
Was hesitant to go after seeing the 2.4 rating but did go anyway. We were a group of two Irish and a Russian and we were let in no problem around 4am on a Friday night. The bouncers at the door were serious but polite, we were dressed casually just like the majority of people inside the club. The place was full. Overall a nice concept, a huge space with 2 dance floors and a great rooftop terrace to chill, it’s just that the music wasn’t exactly to my taste. I didn’t buy any drinks so can’t comment on price or quality.

Google
Last time I was here was 2008. New Years Eve brought us back to what was an amazing night of DJ’s, art installations and hot sexy people dancing and getting sweaty on the dance floor. The years have passed but this place is still a great way to spend the night until dawn.

Yelp
Could not have had a worse experience at this club. Bouncers could not have been more of an absolute asshole. The staff was extremely disrespectful to me and my fiends. If you are a tourist and looking for a fun time in Lisbon please DO NOT GO to this club.
google avatar

Louis S.

Yelp
Don't bother coming here as a tourist, they won't let you in. Instead, since they already don't like you, use your tourist powers and book an Airbnb near the club. This way you can make it unaffordable for the pretentious bouncers to live anywhere near the club. Your welcome!!

Madelyn M.

Yelp
Wow, this club couldn't suck more. Most boring people. Girl bouncer doesn't let any fun pretty girl in. Maybe has personal issues... It's barley okay, we're good, but wow, couldn't have gone to a worse place, kind of embarrassing for Lisbon. Thought more of this place.

Brenna H.

Yelp
Worst place I've ever been. Bouncers are the WORST. Incredibly disrespectful and rude. Making fun of us and pretending they didn't know English PLUS flipped us off. NOT the place to be. Do NOT go here. 2.0 ratings for a reason. On top of all of this the club is entirely dead, yet they're still not letting people in. Yikes. If I could put zero stars I would.
google avatar

Jasmine H.

Yelp
They're simply racist. If you're not Portuguese you'll be told there's a membership requirement, which doesn't exist or coerced into paying for a table which is not worth it given the low quality they let in and the horrible music. Not worth the trip.
google avatar

Karina Z.

Yelp
This is this worst club I have ever been to. The music was absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! Not worth a penny !!!!!
google avatar

Ila R.

Yelp
I didn't know such racism still existed. We were a group of white and black people. All the white people in front of our group were let in no problem. We on the other had were required to pay 300 euro per person because we were not "members". We watched as they let every other white group of people after us go in for free - no problem. We then asked people in line if they were familiar with the "membership" and they had no idea. Later, the white guys in our group got in without any issues. This club is racist and charged a separate fee for our group just simply based on skin color. I'm appalled that this club has gotten away with it for so long. My recommendation is to avoid at all costs and do not support a racist business such as Lux.

Yelp
Walking up to the club, it seemed kind of swanky with all the lights, multiple floors, and decor inside. There wasn't much of a line, which was great, but coat check and cover were a bit more expensive than I'm used to, though I can't remember exactly how much. The people at the front of the house seemed rude and abrupt, and gave me the impression that they were too cool for us. Where we were, there was some hard techno music playing, which I could be okay with, and we got a drink or two just to be social because they weren't super affordable, but the amount of smoking was insane and it killed the vibe for an asthmatic like myself. At home in Canada, we no longer have bars and enclosed spaces you can smoke in, so this was really overwhelming for me. A couple of other people we were with aren't usually bothered by smoke but were also feeling lightheaded and uncomfortable with all of the cigarettes in our faces. We tried to go outside for some fresh air, but surprise, more smokers everywhere. The other two people we were with didn't have any issues, so they seemed to have a great time dancing away. We ended up splitting up and a few of us were basically in and out in less than an hour, maybe even half an hour. I guess it all depends on what you're into!

Yelp
Best club in Lisbon. Fantastic music and atmosphere on the lowest floor. I am an American visiting, but was not charged the high fee as i was no overtly drunk or rude. Just make friends in line, blend in, and have a good time. I think i paid 12 euros and it is given back to you in form of comp drink tickets. Debated not coming here due to so many bad reviews by tourists about the fee, but very happy the drunk local we shared a cab with from the city center persuaded us otherwise.

Heather P.

Yelp
Bourgeois in all the wrong ways. The people who work the front door are incredibly rude to foreigners. We dressed to impress, like we were headed to a Hollywood red-carpet event. They wanted us to pay 100€ apiece, so we thought we'd try it out. It must be worth the hype, right? It was terribly disappointing. The venue wasn't up to par with its competitors. The DJ was out of touch, hardly playing anything relevant, and the place stayed nearly empty the entire night because the doormen kept turning everyone away. Save your money and time, and try superior clubs like Lust in Rio and Music Box.

Yelp
Just can't get enough of this place . Vodka tonic , dance music on the upper floor , and after hours trans downstairs , crowd super cool !

Yelp
It was our last night of seven in Portugal so we decided to head out to Lux Fragil as a night club. Our week till then had been nothing but amazing. Portuguese people are very welcoming and inviting. The food, restaurants, well priced bars and just overall vibe had been nothing but amazing. We arrived at Lux Fragil at 2 am and there was no issues with dress code or difficulty getting in but a demand of €300 per person to get in. I have partied all over the world such as Vegas, Ibiza, Mykonos, LA, etc, etc and the concept of minimum spend on tables is not a foreign concept. I suggested that we will pay for five people on table. We were happy to pay upto €3000 for booth/table. This however didn't exist. Following a lot of discussion they printed us a total €1500 in drink coupons for the €1500 that they charged us. This took a good 10 minutes but also meant we had to carry these bundles of coupons for the night. I was giving them away at the end of the night including to the Uber driver that took me back. The main issues I have with this is: 1. Blatant double standards not expected in a western country. I understand door entry policy to ensure proper crowd at the club which this is not. 2. Portuguese culture and people so welcoming and friendly. This experience unfortunately ruins this notion specially if it is your last night experience. 3. Place has a monopoly so probably no means of being regulated. All great clubs and bars do eventually come to its knees if this type of culture is propagated. 4. At least provide a table service concept and then any price gouging could be better defended. 5. Not a great club to justify such attitude. I am on the way to the airport and still upset at the blatant rip off. Don't do it to yourself!

Yelp
I just want to let everyone know what happened tonight. There was a group of six of us celebrating my friends 21st birthday (we are from the united states). Two of our friends got in paying 15 euros. About 15 minutes later my other friends tried to get in. A number of things happened to make this night go from amazing to horrific in a number of minutes. 1) The friends who arrived a couple minutes after us were told that they were going to be charged 240 euros. This new "price" that went up in a matter of minutes is at least a 16 times the original price. 2) The bouncers did not give my friends a reason for the mark up in price and the answer for the reason was "we can do what we want". 3) My friends were also touched inappropriately after not being given a reason and were "man handled" with their hands on their backs and being shoved away. After spending 15 euros to get into a club which would have been a lot of fun and wonderful this night has become a nightmare. There was only one nice bouncer who tried his best to help us however no one else was helpful and everyone was extremely rude. This entire situation has made me very uncomfortable and I will never return to this club. There was no reason that my friends where unable to enter a few minutes later in addition to being charged an outrageous amount of money. What l have learned from this experience is that no American is welcome in this club do the lack of explanation for reasoning for up charge and rudeness. DO NOT GO HERE! They will psychically push you out, and to your friends that wasted their money for two minutes in a club, they will not refund your money. THIS HAS BEEN AN AWFUL EVENING! If I could give this review "0" stars I would.

Yelp
this is a terrible club. do not go here!!!! please it's so bad and they'll make you pay hundreds of euros to get in for bad music. Just trying to save everyone looking for a place to go! do. not. go here.

Billy N.

Yelp
Very bad experience here. I've been fortunate enough to go to many clubs all over the world (Miami, New York City, Tokyo, Ibiza, etc.), and this one was an awful experience. The worst part is that they have the audacity to charge 240 euros when it is a mediocre establishment. I would strongly recommend that folks not waste their time here.

Siddhi L.

Yelp
Overpriced, rude bouncers, music can be extremely hit or miss-- so many people say that this is the coolest place to be in Lisbon, but I haven't been impressed so far. I don't really appreciate door screenings at clubs based on appearance, and while I haven't been subject to this sort of treatment, I have seen many people turned away. Notably, they rarely turn away a Portuguese person and often overcharge foreigners. All that being said, the architecture and layout of the venue is pretty amazing. If there is live music going on that you know you will be good, I recommend it. Otherwise...not so much.

Yelp
Don't come to this place. Came in a small group all partnered up. The place was still pretty empty with no one in line. They tried to charge us 300euro a piece. What the Fuck is that? Fuxk this place.
google avatar

Solamon E.

Yelp
RACIST ESTABLISHMENT - UTTER GARBAGE. This place decided to arbitrarily charge my friends, four mixed-raced guys, and me, a Black Brazilian, 300 EUR cover while charging everyone else in line--who were mostly white Americans and European women and men--12 to 15 EUR. (We were dressed according to dress code, and acting politely and calmly in line.) Then they did the same to a group of Arab-looking men behind us. When I questioned the staff about it and insisted on a logical explanation, they cited the "official" pricing on their rules board of 300 EUR. But of course that pricing was just a cover-up, something that was being inconsistently applied to their guests at whim on the basis of race. This whimsical application of pricing based on social appearance is a practice which, in nearly all of the near 50 countries I've visited, would be considered illegal and unacceptable. The bouncers then proceeded to insult me for my language competencies (I spoke to them in both my native Portuguese and English), raise their voice at me, put their hands on my arms vigorously, and push me out of the entrance forcefully. Shame on you, Lux Club, for maintaining the very worst of the intolerant Portuguese social reputation. You are a disgrace.

Yelp
This place is so average it's got me thinking about median vs mean. Line was long but moved along and we were inside after 30 mins at 4am on a Saturday. Price was 15/pp. Drinks were watered down but reasonably priced. Crowd was average. They ignored us. They were a bit drunk, but not outstandingly so. The music was EDM. Not good enough to dance to but not so horrible that we left right away. The view from the balcony outside was nice. I'd say this was a bit below the mean for dance clubs, but above the median.

Yelp
Probably one of the best clubs of Lisboa so I had to go there before I leave this beautiful city. I was lucky because the week I wanted to go there they had Digitalism coming. I like the music and really it was the best party ever. Lux is a big club partly owned by John Malkovich (you might know him, if not google him ;) ) and is really nice. It's well decorated, the people are nice and it's not super expensive (same prices as in Belgium anyway). If you have some time left in Lisboa, make sure you visit this club for a great evening out!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing club. Went with remote year kublai and we all had so much fun. 3 story club with a rooftop of Lisbon. Definitely a must go to might club! Casual attire but some girls wore dresses and skirts with flats and wedges.

Marc G.

Yelp
Great job trying to scam a bridal party that wanted to celebrate there after their reception. Some of our party got in for 12 Euros but decide to charge the rest of the party 800 Euros. Fix yourself!
google avatar

William I.

Yelp
Probably one of the worst places in town. Not worth the commute. We read some good reviews, so we decided to check out what all the hype was all about. We waited in line for a brief moment before the door boy stated 240 euros to get in. Ha! Ya, right! I might have gave him the money to put a sock in his mouth. We told him no thank you and absolutely not. Then we turned around and walked away.

Robert B.

Yelp
This place is absolutely a sham. If you are a tourist they will charge you $300 euro. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE NOT FROM PORTUGAL

Patty W.

Yelp
These guys let 10 people go on in front of me and then asked us to pay 300 euro to get in. We payed 10 euro and got in the night before. Almost hilarious. Has nothing to do with race. Went solo and tried to get in again, and they shoved me out without any explanation. Basically speechless with what just happened. Cheers
google avatar

Taylor C.

Yelp
For foreigners I would beware. Waited in line hour and a half, then they would only allow us (myself and 5-6 girls) in with a 240 euro minimum spend each, pretty ridiculous given Lisbon prices. Roll the dice if you want.

Tara D.

Yelp
This place is probably the first spot everyone recommends checking out in Lisbon for night life, BUT... Be very aware, the bouncers are extremely rude, and on a power trip! If you speak English ( regardless of group size or gender), you will be mistreated and asked to pay 240€ while all the locals (guys and girls) get in with at most €15 in front of you. Avoid the bouncers, go in with locals or you will be subject to major discrimination by the rude bouncers!
google avatar

tania s.

Yelp
I read that the bouncers charge english speaking patrons 140+ euros to enter this club. When I got there, the line was fairly long and a girl approached the line asking if 240 euros was the appropriate charge which the bouncer apparently quoted to her. I avoided talking in line and got in no problem for 15 euro. The club was pretty nice on the inside and the staff was polite and professional. Did not think this was The 'It' club for Europe, but definitely a great place to check out and worth the trip.

Qype User (mmdrod…)

Yelp
The only real club in Lisbon

Qype User (el_por…)

Yelp
The coolest hippest club in Lisbon. Great music, weird-but-cool decoration, beautiful posh people. Sometimes, kind of dificult to get in (the giant amazon-like doorwoman sometimes may have an unfriendly look, but it's her job to select people to get inside, so). Dress up, casual smart, and maybe you get a chance to try it out!

Craig G.

Yelp
If you are a native English speaker don't go. My friend and I thought people were kidding when the other reviews said they were charging 240€. Guess what? They weren't. While waiting in line we struck up a conversation with someone who had been there the week before and said it was 15€. As soon as the bouncer, realized we spoke English he said 240, we said yesterday it was 15. He said that was yesterday, but he's speaking about today (basically for us to fuck off). Don't waste your time or money.

Marc B.

Yelp
After having checked several recommendations online me and my girlfriend decided to go to Lux Club on our last day in Lisbon. We had to wait in line for more than 30 minutes, which would have been acceptable for a good party. Waiting for getting in we talked to the people that were standing in front of us who surprisingly were also from Denmark (the same as us). One of them was obviously pretty drunk. They got rejected at the entrance (understandable) and when it was our turn the bouncer told us that the entrance was about 140 euros and we wouldn't be able to afford it anyways. As we told him straight away that would not really be a problem for us, but that didn't make any difference. We didn't get in which pretty much ruined our last evening of our vacation. I do not recommend to go there as it is absolutely not worth it and can ruin your entire stay in this otherwise awesome city.

Yelp
i personally really loved lux and did not have a bad experience there. getting in was easy and i was not charged any ridiculous entry fee. i went once with a male friend and several times alone. queue starts around 2 am so i would recommend heading out earlier to avoid it. super down to earth as far as clubs go and the music is on point. drinks are affordable for sure and it's a chill place, no grimy seedy club vibe and no elitist vibe. places to sit and smoke for anyone. the third floor is kind of a lounge-y place, second is disco/house, third is where shows are (i think...not sure but thats where i saw all the shows).

Claus R.

Yelp
Bouncers were very rude and wanted to know first whether you are a tourist or not. Then they decided what you pay admission. For 20 EUR you get EUR 10 drinks voucher. Normal for Spain and Portugal without having to write on the guest list. The store was nearly empty by 1 clock, so we have only been drinking there was, especially since the store is filled with tourists then. Fortunately, we have ended up in a much better club. To drink it is a fine location, beacause it is very gentle on the roof with music. And otherwise the nightclub is very nice designed. Conclusion: Only good to drink before going to party.

Gusto N.

Yelp
Tried to charge €250 to walk into an empty club, door guy was a snob...highly not recommended.
