"Ovest Pizzoteca, Da Mikele, Luzzo’s and Luzzo’s BK: you can’t throw a stone without hitting one of the talented Michele Iuliano’s restaurants these days, and for good reason. Nestled in the East Village, this original outpost of Luzzo’s boasts a colorful exterior, treasured, century-old coal-burning oven that pushes out not only ace pizzas, but also Neapolitan classics like frusta, la quadrata and pizza fritta. The term pizzeria just doesn’t do this lovely spot justice. And judging by the patient crowds lined up outside, the neighborhood knows a good thing when they see it. Once inside, guests are treated to a charming interior of exposed brick, mismatched chairs and kitschy knickknacks. Randomly went for pizza 20 mins before closing. The gentleman at the counter was very kind. Pizzas are delicious, brick oven style. We also asked if they could use a clean pizza cutter for our dietary restriction and they were happy to accommodate. Would definitely recommend and will be returning myself.

I’ve come to New York on vacation. Me and my family stumbled upon Luzzo’s Pizza and decided to give it a try. I really mean it when i say that Luzzo’s Pizza offered the best service and pizza that I have ever had in my life. The staff and manager were fantastic and the pizza was phenomenal. The manager even took our family picture!! I will never forget Luzzo’s and will definitely come back the next time I find myself in New York!!

Pizza was delicious! All the ingredients where fresh and pizza was made in the moment! The guy who served us was so kind with all of us, highly recommended! Also try the lemonade is from Italy and taste so good!

Luzzos moved to Avenue B, recently. new space is airy, lots of light, and catches a great breeze when the are windows open on cool sunny days. modern casual pizza restaurant vibes with warm friendly aesthetic. i believe they do table service—not sure as i always grabbed takeout. open from lunch to dinner daily. the pizza served here is Neapolitan. pizza is sold by the slice, 12” pie and 16” pie. i like the simplicity of ingredients of a Margherita pizza —cheese, sauce, crust and fresh basil leaves. the quality of Luzzo’s Margherita speaks for itself in a slice. quality ingredients come together for a tasty slice of thin crust with some chew, the balance of a fresh tomato sauce, smooth blobs of mozzarella, and the aroma of basil on top. last time, I walked out with a slice and it was just the right amount of snack that i wanted in carbs, $3 + tax + tip staff is pretty informal and it seems like it is very much family run.

So my daughter has a list of places to eat and this little gem was one of them. From the minute we walked in we fell in love with the decore and the wine bottles hanging on the walls. The staff made you feel welcoming which is a plus. The calamari were perfect and my daughter used there dressing with the hot pepper flakes as a sauce, it was perfect since we love spice. We will definitely be going back to try other dishes. Great way to celebrate a 15th birthday dinner. Ladies night at in NYC :)

Google
Still a great place for Neopolitan pizza in NYC. I could just eat their pizza crust as its that good by itself. Eggplant Parmigana was excellent starter, highly recommend

Google
One of my favorite pizzerias in the city. Their wood-fired crust is to die for, and the different varieties have something for everyone. The pasta is fresh and delicious as well.

Google
The margarita pizza here was decent. However, the place was overrun with flies. You don’t notice it at first, but sitting down, you can count at least 8 of them in just one spot.

Yelp
REALLY delicious pizza- I would rate an 8.5/10!!! We ordered the burrata and prosciutto appetizer and the aglietta pizza (cheese, sauce, roasted garlic). The burrata and prosciutto were fresh, but didn't wow me (cheese was a little too firm). The pizza on the other hand may be some of, if not THE, best pizza I've had in NY. The crust was both fluffy and light, and extremely soft and chewy on the inside, the ratio of cheese and sauce was perfect, and the roasted garlic was not overpowering; instead was a great addition to each bite. I loved how the inside of the restaurant was decorated, and it was cool to sit in front of the wood fire oven and watch all the pizzas being made. Highly recommend trying this pizza spot!!!

Yelp
We went to Luzzos after seeing it ranked SECOND(!!!) on http://www.varasanos.com/PizzaRecipe.htm. I mean, c'mon, that's a must-try. I have to say, I was a little disappointed. The sauce was on the fresh side, not as sweet. Which isn't a bad thing, just sayin'. The dough could have been a little more crispy on the outside and airy on the inside. And some more flavor to the dough. The basil was solid. Overall it just wasn't as flavorful as I'd hope or good enough to justify being so insanely high on the Varasanos ranking. But it was still very very good. I'm nitpicking here. It was very fresh and very good pizza. Well worth the $18 or whatever it costs, and pretty high on the list of best pizza I've ever had. It was interesting that there was no one at the restaurant. Completely empty when we got there. I found that to be pleasant though. Compare that to a place like Johns where you have to wait, it is packed and crowded and noisy. I prefer the peacefulness.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food. We ordered via grubhub and the food came piping hot and service was fantastic- awesome delivery driver. We got Italian Alfredo, cheese sticks, and a variety of slices. You must try the vodka pizza slice it's absolutely to die for. Can't wait to visit nyc again and have some more dishes from here.

Yelp
Pizza at 1st Avenue location was delicious but never got around to trying this location...marshalls repo'd 1st Ave...now they shut down Ave B before we could try it!

Chrissy M.

Yelp
Was looking to get a quick slice. The second I walked in- before I even looked at the menu and pizza- the counter lady says "what would you like?" ...... I picked the sausage slice. She picked it up with a spatula, dropped a few toppings.... Scooped it up with her hand and threw it back on.... Then proceeded to balance the slice of pizza on the spatula, all the way to the oven. It was in the oven for about 20 seconds and given to me. I paid $5.50 for warm sausage pizza which toppings were plopped on top with bare hands..... Yummy but yucky.

Yelp
i ordered this restaurant through uber eats, they had a bogo special deal going on. i was skeptical to order under special promo and offers because of possibility that restaurants won't go as hard as making something with love. unfortunately my assumption became true when i received my order. The uber Eats service guy delivered it with care however i was disappointed in the taste. i posted picture to show that i ordered "Cheesy" bread in fact it was an ultra thin cheese nothing cheesy about it. the taste wasnt there, it was unfortunately tasteless. i didn't taste garlic or any spices but thats okay - but come on!!! a thin slice of cheese? yikes. lol

Yelp
Walked by this place real quick as I was about to grab an empanada for lunch. I smelt the fresh slices from outside and turned around to take a peak! I walked inside to see FRESH SLICES galore!!!! I didn't know where to start first, but I quickly grabbed a Buffalo mozz slice that was massive and did not disappoint. It was about $5 or so but certainly a great treat to have for lunch! Service wasn't as friendly as I expected to be, but the food certainly was fantastic!!! Next time I'll take a pic before inhaling it

Yelp
A great family restaurant. We got the Neapolitan pizza, of course. The owners are very friendly and had a crowd in to watch Italy in the World Cup finals. Good times!

Dave C.

Yelp
Cozy atmosphere in the evening and airy in the daytime. Ordered a mushroom square and plain cheese slice. Pizza dough was very fresh/soft and crispy on the bottom. The pizza sauce was very good. Good place for a quick bite. The ladies that worked there were friendly.

Chris B.

Yelp
Stopped in here on a Monday night for a few slices to go. Really impressed with the quality of their pizza. It's hard to find a slice spot that sells napoletana style pizza and this place delivers. Mozzerela was so fresh, sauce was a beautiful mix of savory and sweet, and the pieces were perfectly foldable. Diavola square slice was also really tasty even tho it wasn't the traditional napoletana style. Nice little area where you can sit and enjoy your slices too.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night at about 8:30 in a party of 4. This restaurant is highly recommended by my cousin and he has been a regular for many years, safe to say it did not disappoint. For appetizers we ordered the parmigiana de melanzane, bruschetta, and burratta with prosciutto. Since the majority of our party is vegetarian, we asked for the prosciutto to come on a separate plate and the restaurant was very accommodating. I absolutely loved the bruschetta. The tomato's seemed very fresh, the bread was crispy, and there was a nice balance of basil and garlic. Maybe because I don't eat meat I couldn't appreciate the burrata, but it was nothing special and I would probably not get it again. The parmegiana was also delicious and definitely a table favorite. Now to the exciting part: the pizzas. We got 2 pizzas for the table: Ortolana pizza and Pizza Fritta. Unfortunately we had asked for the pizza fritta without ham and they forgot to do that so most of us did not eat it. However, I tried the outside bread part and that at least tasted like fried bread and deliciousness. The Ortolana pizza, however, was great! We got a 12 inch amongst 3 people, and it was extremely filling. The different toppings went together great and I especially loved the mushrooms! Overall, would come again for some delicious pizza.

Yelp
I don't think I have had a more dreadful pizza in my life. This is how we received the pizza through Uber Eats today. Undercooked, tasteless, a complete mess. Totally disgusting. I gave it one star for at least the effort. Never again.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Between 4 people we shared two 16" pizzas, the tartufata (mozzarella and truffle oil) and the ripiera (has ricotta cheese, ham, and salami). If you come here get the Tartufata pizza! I don't think I've had anything like it, but it's essentially an elevated Margherita pizza. These pizzas are truly thin with a doughy crust. It was a slow day so it was easy to walk in without a reservation, but I'd imagine that this place is normally super packed.

Yelp
Not bad but nothing special. Walked in for dinner Thanksgiving Eve around 6:30pm. We almost didn't go in because the restaurant appeared completely empty. However it filled up when we were leaving around 8:30 and became a bit more lively. SETTING: Booths line one side of the wall, regular tables on the other which lead into a slightly bigger room with more tables for larger parties. It's nice and comfortable- nothing really stands out but nothing to complain about. This would be a good setting for a family dinner with your grandparents or a "let's stay really close to the apt" date night. FOOD: we ordered the burrata and arugula as an appetizer and for mains had the Norma (rigatoni with eggplant + tomato sauce) as well as the Parpadelle with speck and porcini mushrooms in a truffle cream sauce. I guess we missed the memo on the pizza here being the best bc the pasta was not that great. The parpadelle was perfectly cooked but lacked any flavor and barely had any cream sauce. It glumped up together as time passed and required quite a bit of salt / hot oil to give it any flavor. I wouldn't recommend. The Norma was okay- more sauce than the other pasta (though still not that much) with a nice acidity that cut through the heavier porcini pasta dish. Still not enough flavor for me. VERDICT: I don't know if I'd ever come here again but if someone else suggested it, wouldn't say no. It was OK. If you're in the area and have nowhere else, why not.

Yelp
Came here to get one pizza since we wanted to pizza hop. Got the bufala pizza. Wow, the dough here really stood out. I tend to think what takes a pizza from good to amazing is it's dough. The dough here you could tell was cooked differently. The bottom of the pizza had more air pockets, clearly getting cooked more at a higher temperature. The top is a bit more smooth with the sauce seeping into the dough. And then the middle was not fully cooked, giving it a much mushier texture. Combining all of those....omg so good. Loved eating every piece of the pizza, from the tip to the crust. The bufala pizza is kind of just a margarita pizza with very fresh and high quality ingredients. Really helps you focus on the quality of the dough. Probably my favorite napoletana pizza in the city, and right up there with Roberta's as my favorite pizza in the city.

Yelp
Big, fresh salads Wonderful service Great handmade pizza Open ambiance - lots of windows

Chris P.

Yelp
I think this place must have changed owners or moved in the last few years or something like that-- they don't sell a lot of what's in the reviewers' photos any more-- no pasta, no wine, no gnocchi, now it's more of a regular by the slice kind of place. The slices are ok but I was still disappointed since I was hoping to have more of a restaurant experience with some gnocchi and wine.

Shanna L.

Yelp
This was my first time trying it their foods as a delivery order. The portions were big and the food was delicious. I had the lobster ravioli and the buffalo mozzarella salad. It was delicious and the pasta was so good re-heated. I am excited to visit them in person!

Hal R.

Yelp
Luzzo's has a lofty reputation to maintain based on their Yelp reviews. I was satisfied with their service and pizza, but I wouldn't rank it as the best Neopolitan pizza in the East Village. I have had better pies from Motorino and Lil Frankie's on First Street remains my favorite pizza option in all of New York. With that said, nothing about Luzzo's was particularly bad, I just found the pizza to be slightly above average. Nothing about their menu or the flavor of the pizza made their experience stand out. Their service was very fast and friendly. 4 Formaggi (3.5/5): As a fan of White Pizza I was immediately drawn to this option, which is just one of two white pizzas they offer. Though the texture and crust were great, I think they had several problems with their selection of cheeses. I found the parmesan flavor to be very overwhelming. I wish they had used more mozzarella in their mixture. This may be a matter of preference, but after having sampled hundreds of White pizzas, I was surprised by how pronounced the parmesan flavor was. Next time, I will opt for one of their tomato-based pizzas to determine if their more traditional options like the Napoletana or Bufala are better. Until then, Luzzo's is a good option, but not worth a special trip based on my experience.

Alejandra C.

Yelp
Great pizza, great service. The place is super nice, open doors, you can get slice or a hole pizza.

Andrea W.

Yelp
I came here on a weekday night with a friend around 5:30PM and it was completely empty. We were asked for our vaccination proof as usual and picked where we wanted to sit, then given menus. We went with the bufala 12" and pesto gnocchi coni, and the food came out promptly. The pizza crust was delightfully chewy and the sauce was light; the spicy oil was a great complement to the edges. The gnocchi was soft and chewy, I could tell it was freshly made, and I've never had a cono before and it was deliciously stuffed with cheese and gnocchi and pesto sauce, chewy as well. Food overall was great, portions were big too; this could've fed 3 people probably. The bill came out to around $44 post-tax, not bad at all for the amount of food we got!

Irene L.

Yelp
Went here for dinner the other night and spent about $40 for a pie and a glass of red wine. The wine was not even half way full. The napoletana was very basic. It was not bad but very average. It has anchovies, basil, and ricotta. Sauce was on the sweet side but even though it came out hot, the slices were still very soggy. Not worth it. Disappointed.

Prashant M.

Yelp
Don't do reviews too often. But This place is the best!!! After 11 years back again and didn't miss a beat!!!! Had the bufala, the diavola plus sausage (this was to die for). We ordered a Caesar which was on point. We then ordered the tiramisu which we tore into forgot to take a pic but was so good. Also there playlist of 80's music on point.

Andrea K.

Yelp
Another great Italian restaurant in NYC! I saw a food blogger from Miami go to this restaurant and immediately added it to my list of places I needed to visit. I liked that it wasn't in a touristy section of the city and had more of a neighborhood feel to it. My mom and I split the pesto gnocchi sandwich. It is home gnocchi and pesto stuffed inside bread that is filled with melted cheese. It is heaven and we ate it all. You should probably try it. Loved our waiter! He made suggestion for a red wine and it was spot on and a great pairing with the gnocchi. Great place to hang out and catch up with friends while enjoying good wine and amazing food.

Anna S.

Yelp
I ordered a pie with extra sauce and parmesan cheese. It was dry. I only tasted the "bread". The only cheese that was on the pizza was the parmesan, and very little of it. Very stingy with the ingredients, considering that the cost was over $36.00.

Anitha K.

Yelp
Great pizza and no wait!!! My roommate and I have been on a search for the best pizza in nyc and so far this makes the list! We tried one of the pizzas and the homemade gnocchi. Personally preferred the pizza but both were good! Will be back

Ashley B.

Yelp
Yes. Yes yes!!! This is the BEST gnocchi I've ever had. It is a bit pricey but wow is it actually delicious. I got the gnocchi with the red sauce and cheese and I loved every bite. The sauce was so delicious I wanted to drink it with a straw. My only issue with it was the cheese wasn't really melted on to the gnocchi, it was kinda a weird blob of soft cheese on the top. The atmosphere was very relaxed and casual, it's be great for a date or lunch with friends.

Heather A.

Yelp
What happened?! I guess they lost the First Avenue location, it moved to Ave B and now it's just a disappointing regular pizza place. The waitress looked at us like we had three heads when we asked for a table. No charm, no service and no comparison to the way the piece of used to taste. We also ordered the burrata and prosciutto antipasti and it was pretty much inedible. No glasses or ice. No liquor license. But a $53 bill for a 18 inch pie and a terrible antipasti dish. Btw they have no liquor license. It went from a great place, to a regular corner pizza joint (for a $60+ RT taxi ride). Sigh

Jason E.

Yelp
They did a good job here. I came for dinner right before everything closed and was happy. Some highlights -pizza is excellent. They have a coal / brick oven in the back. -pasta very flavorful -wine inexpensive and big pours Will hope to come back when things reopen.

Jainoir R.

Yelp
This spot was very good. My partner and I were quite hungry and only were able to find bars in the neighborhood. We went here for a quick bite and boy were we pleasantly surprised. The pizza was excellent. I ordered a small pie with prosciutto and arugula. Absolutely fantastic. The restaurant was a very cozy hole in the wall. Lots of old classics were playing as well. it was dark so it felt very intimate. There is also a brick oven in the kitchen. Our seats were situated so that by back was to the oven. On a cold day the heat felt amazing. The service was fantastic as well.

Timothy J.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but every time I go in for a slice I walk out with a like warm piece of pizza. I have asked them to keep it in the oven longer but that unfortunately that hasn't help. Pizza is good overall but the execution could be improved.

C D.

Yelp
Randomly went to this restaurant before we celebrate my friend's birthday. The owner was the one who served us. He gave us 2 free glasses champagne. Great service and great food

Joy M.

Yelp
This was our first pizza on our NYC trip and it was exactly what we were looking for. We tried a couple different pies - one tomato-based sauce and one white sauce. The toppings were all fresh and bursting with flavor and the crust was perfectly cooked. Loved the eclectic decor. Like every place we visited this trip, they are short-staffed but the staff there were really working hard to make sure every table was satisfied. All around great experience.

Supriem R.

Yelp
I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it's basically all bread. Definitely not worth the money

Cindy C.

Yelp
We went there for an early weekday dinner. There was only one other couple there and they were speaking Italian. Based on the Yelp reviews, we went for the Est pizza and also ordered a couple beers. I was pleasantly surprised that the beer glasses were frosty cool - a nice touch that we appreciated on a hot summer night. The crust was too soft to do a fold so I used utensils (sorry Jon Stewart). The toppings were good and the crust edge had an enjoyable bready texture. We had a 20% Crave app discount but would go back again regardless as was tasty and chill.

Doug W.

Yelp
Despite recieving poor service our fist time, Walking back through Luzzo's, passing each incredible looking pie at each and every table, towards the great big coal and wood burning oven, made my mouth water for the Neapolitan experience I was about to have. Sitting in plain sight of the flickering oven wasn't helping my ever expanding appetite as they slid a pie in, turned it, and whisked it off to another table; I just wanted mine. Soon enough, it was sliced and on my plate, even faster in my hands and chomped into. Dripping with excellence I could say this was some of the tastiest Neapolitan pizza I have ever had. Only downfall was it wasn't too crispy because of the Neapolitan rules of flour use... but, who cares when the flavors of the cheese and tomato are so mind-numbingly good. Thanks to my group for explaining the type of cheese and tomato, I will never feel the same about my pizza ingredients. Knowing now that these San Marzano tomatoes are straight from the soil of Mount Vesuvius, in Naples, Italy; I simply cannot live without them any longer. The cheese made from the milk of a water buffalo is supremely more creamy and delicious than any regular Mozzarella I have ever tasted, giving Luzzo's masterpiece more than a stamp of approval, it moves into a new spot of favorites in NYC. Pay no attention to the fact this place is so new, (I originally dined in 2009-2010 but accidentally hit delete on this review) relative to the history of some other great pizza restaurants; walk in, try it, experience a slice of heaven. Don't expect the classic NY style, expect exceptional Neapolitan pies. I've been back a few times over the years and always have a great pie, can't order slices, and that's just fine. The only problem is being able to make up your mind. I'd be at this place weekly if I wasn't all the way out on the island. I love variety and I love every pie I've tried, but the basic is calling me back constantly, I get there stare at the menu, and never order the pie I fell in love with before, but next time, I'm getting two pies for sure!!

Eugene C.

Yelp
I finally tried Luzzos' famous pizza yesterday. WOW, the pizza was AMAZING!!!!!!! Everything was fresh and full of flavors. They even gave us a complimentary salad, which came up with savory balsamic vinegar & olive oil (Loved it!) I could sense that they were using good ingredients. Nothing like overly sauced at all. Just a few of high-quality ingredients, just simple like good Italian foods. Oh, I also would like to mention it's very friendly customer service :) 'll definitely come back. * One of the best pizza places in NYC. I've tried many NY pizzas but I guess my favorites are always Neapolitan pizza places, like Luzzos, Keste, and San matteo.

Andie K.

Yelp
The pizza at their old location was spectacular. Don't know what happened if the staff changed with the new location, but the pizza is now a disappointment.

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
All the pizzas at Luzzo's have one thing in common - a thin bread-like crust that's crispy on the outside and airy on the inside, and I'm a fan! It seems like this restaurant is pretty packed on weekend nights so my friends and I came here in the afternoon on a Sunday. It was surprisingly empty and the eight of us were able to snatch the long table at the back. Bufala E Proscuitto is an excellent starter. It's a classic dish with delicious and creamy mozzarella paired with proscuitto and a rocket salad with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. We ordered three pies to share. The #1 Bufala is a must. It uses mozzarella di bufala which is one of the most delicious types of mozaarella you can find from Italy. We had some meat lovers in the group and they were pretty satisfied with the #6 Salsiccia and #12 Martha. The Salsiccia comes with sausage and the Martha comes with mushrooms and proscuitto. I enjoyed all three pieces and I really liked the pizza crusts as much as the toppings. The crust is chewy but light and crispy and a great flavor. Pro tip: If you're table doesn't have one make sure you ask for some chili infused olive oil. It's so good to dip with the crust edges! We also tried of the pastas - Pappardelle with speck, porcini and truffle oil. I recommend getting this to share. The pappardelle is cooked al dented and the sauce is super rich and creamy. The truffle oil isn't overpowering and the mushroom flavor is so strong, yum! Overall, a really solid and quality place for casual Italian food, not just pizzas. I'll be back for more.

Andrea S.

Yelp
So good! I went with my bestie from high school and my 8 year old and we were all very happy! The crust was perfectly done! My son doesn't love cheese but was able to remove the dollops of cheese no problem, I ordered the prosciutto and arugula pie which was spectacular. Thin, crisp, chewy deliciousness!!

Thomas K.

Yelp
Came here to quench a hankering of neo style pizza and was definitely satisfied. I had the ripeno and my girl had the white pizza with the sausage and broccoli rabe, we also shared the arugula salad with goat cheese and artichoke. Everything was prepared beautifully and more importantly tasted excellent. In particular the broccoli rabe was cooked perfectly without a hint of bitterness. My spicy salami pieces were crisp and but not overtly burnt and the sauce on my pizza was divine. If there was one problematic point it was the middle of the pizza which most neo style pizzas have. Some are turned off by the soggy middle which is understandable but I see it as an acceptable trade off for the texture of the toppings and crust on the outside. Service was great, water was never lacking and our waiter gave my girl a tasting of wine she was on the fence on (she ended up passing and getting a different one). After the salad, two 12" pies and 3 glasses of wine the damage was about $96. A little high for a pizza and wine but we both were craving neo pizza and they were on the money in execution

Yelp
Yupper skadidaleedoo. This is the real deal. Top notch, 5 star, no bones about it, authentic, mama can't make that pie. Straight outa Italy with NYC backbone. They took an ancient N.Y. bread oven and converted it to coal/ wood fired pizza perfunctionary pleasnetness So fine. So expensive. Never seem to get out of here less than a C- Note .. But it is worth it. Dough, sauce, cheese, cooking process, all of it is as I respect. Cheers to my piasanos on 1st Ave. You have nailed it. I've been eating your pie for 10 years without a strike against your product. Take that to the bank

Yelp
The only things to remember about this place are: 1) how good the pizza is rumored to be 2) the cool table and chair on the ceiling 3) how uncomfortably hot the empty dining area was 4) the FULL BLAST Kenny G soundtrack blasting The music alone was too much. I felt like I was in a bad Indie film where all the places you love are colonized by excessively boring people. We didn't stay, and likely won't ever return

Yelp
Pizza tastes like true Italian pizza, however will not be returning because of the rude lady taking my order.

Yelp
The restaurant was hard to find at night since there was no lighted sign. It's nice and warm inside in December. The buffa pizza is Napoletana style, is not as good as those in Napoli in terms of the quality of the mozzarella and the tomato sauce. Only 3 pieces of basil. The arugula and prosciutto pizza was better thanks to these two ingredients.

Yelp
Spectacular food in a cozy, unpretentious setting - the Bolognese was perfect. My husband who had eaten Bolognese in Italy said it was just as good. And the pizza!! That was beyond anything either of us had anyplace ever. The service was terrific and we look forward to returning.

Yelp
I don't know which publicists they're paying for reviews but they are completely incompetent and lack morale. I walked in at night, pizza was out so I asked about it, the lady behind the counter gave me a nasty glare and told me that they only had SCRAPS available for me and proceeded to lift open a random pizza box filled with scraps behind the counter. I asked why I couldn't just have a pizza made like the gentleman ahead of me or a slice that was not scraps, heated up, she told me it couldn't be done and crossed her arms. I'm a 27 year old black queer fem who has been living in the East Village with my family whom have been here for 4 generations. I'm appalled, I've never seen such rudeness in ANY neighborhood restaurant/establishment. She served the white gentleman ahead of me a full pizza, no problem. Do I believe this was racially motivated and micro-aggressive? Definitely. Will I ever walk in there again or tell any of my friends about the place, no I will not. It will probably last as long as waffles and dinges did if they get so lucky with that rent their paying, then luzzos will turn into yet another establishment. :)

Yelp
One of my favorite pizzas ever, however, not be as good as it once was. It's been over a year since I've been back. The tartufata lacked truffle taste & crust a bit soggy. Sausage pizza was better, yet soggy as well. Not sure what going on w/ventilation, but my eyes were burning the whole dinner & we smelled of smoke after we left. Vegetable soup was overly salty. Arugula salad was decent. Will still go back, just hope this was off nite. Friendly server.

Yelp
Amazing food and service, the quadratta is my favorite in the city and I've tried them all. Crust is unbelievable pairs perfectly with the spicy olive oil . Can't miss!!
