6 Standout Smoked Fish Dips on Florida's Forgotten Coast

"Run by Lynn C. Martina, who learned to shuck oysters at age nine and took over the business in 1997, this raw bar and market sells Gulf oysters, crab, shrimp, fish, Florida lobster, and whole blue crabs for seafood boils. The market is known for its perfectly brined and smoked mullet and also sells a smoked mahi dip; the writer notes a habit of scooping it straight out of the container onto buttery Ritz crackers in the parking lot, the Ritz acting as the perfect foil for the spiced-up dip." - Carrie Honaker

My wife and I have been visiting the Forgotten Coast area since 2017. Lynn’s is one of our favorite places to stop in for a bite, beer and view. We’ve eaten most everything on the menu including pie. Today we stopped in, along with our German Shepherd. While we ate a pound of steamed shrimp, she had a corn dog. The staff gave our girl the same attention that we received. The owners, Lynn and Greg sat down and chatted with us. This is truly a family owned and operated business. Lynn explained the business was first started by her grandfather, then mother and now her and her family. Please, if you’re passing through Eastpoint, FL, stop in for a bite, beverage and the view.

Extremely popular with locals and tourists alike. You will not find a more authentic place in Franklin County. What was once an "oyster house", turned seafood market, and now featuring a steam bar, has been in the same local family for generations. Great food, great staff....and can we just talk about the views? As a local, I never grow tired of our beautiful bay. You won't find a much better view than from the deck of Lynn's! The menu is simple and not overwhelming with too many options. A visit to Franklin County is not complete without a stop here!

My husband looked this place in the map, and he said that we will eat here. We were not disappointed at all! The oysters are shucked right in front of us and they were so good. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly. We shared a dozen fresh oysters, I had the shrimp pasta salad and my husband had the gumbo. We will be back when we travel here again!

Google
We were traveling along the scenic hwy and came across this gem of a restaurant. This place, by far, had the freshest oysters we have had at any restaurant. They were absolutely delicious. And after you eat your oyster you can throw the oyster right over the rail. We sat outside, so we can enjoy the view of the water. It was perfect. There were some kids out fishing on the docks. It was awesome. Everything about this place was perfect. If you are looking for a casual place to eat with the best oysters ever, definitely stop in here. Plus the staff is amazing as well. This place is a seafood market as well. We can't wait to go back.

Google
Oysters were Salty and shucked fresh (also $5 cheaper per dozen than another local oyster bar) I ate 3 dozen then had a bowl of their Creole Style Gumbo. I'm not a big fan of having corn, tomato, and okra in something called Gumbo because I'm originally from Houma, Louisiana and use to Cajun Gumbo😋! But it was the best seafood stew I've had 😂🤣

Google
Don’t let the appearance fool you. This is the real deal with real Apalach “farmed” oysters. As I understand they are raised in floating containers off the bottom. They do have that delicious briny flavor of old. I’ve been coming to Apalach since 1999 and remember the days when you could get a 30lb sack for $20. Not anymore. But at least you can experience the flavor plus at Lynn’s they have quick and super friendly service. They also use my favorite horseradish, Extra Hot Beaver! Just what everyone needs. Be sure and try the shrimp dip too, awesome with a little tiger sauce. If you’re out on SGI or in Apalach don’t pass this jewel up. UrbanCowgill June 2025

Ordered the gumbo and steamed shrimp (1/2 pound) as well as key lime pie. Love their classy plates… Lol the place was pretty crowded at 2 PM on off-season. The food was outstanding. Prices were a little high. Plenty of parking. Sat at the bar. Def a must visit! The pie was ok….smallest piece I’ve ever had!

Google
Amazing oysters!!! The gumbo was to die for( I am biased and try gumbo everywhere I go)!!! The service was absolutely great!! The lobster special today was also very delicious and presentable!! And even got some things to go!!!

Yelp
November 2024 I have no idea how the food is, because the nasty waitress( looks like it was Lynn herself) asked me to leave with my service dog..he is registered, number and everything..I'm writing this review to let others know that this is not the place for you if you depend on a service dog to alert you to your medical problems. The waitress needs to be fired she literally jumped us about my service dog, told me to go out and go around to outside setting, never once asked me how she could be of assistance..nope started Maman me, I did try to educate her, a service dog has so many rights and she disregarded them, treated me and my life line like we were chit. I'd give her 0 stars, but it's not offered, but I am filing a federal complaint against this eating establishment Locals Laws and the ADA There are federal and state laws that apply to disabled handlers and their service dogs. Rights laid out by the ADA trump local laws in every case. Many states and counties have their own rules about animals in public places and businesses, but these do not apply to recognized service dogs. Regardless of where you are in the USA, no local laws can override the rights laid out in the ADA. Service dogs and handlers may have additional rights granted by local laws, but they may not be discriminated against based on the disability or the presence of a service animal. Next I am filing a complaint with our federal government..you have no right to discriminate against a disabled person and her life line.

Yelp
Nice little hole in the wall! You walk through the front where they sell fish and seafood and if you sit outside you'll get a beautiful view (we got a rainbow that day)! The shrimp was delicious and it was my first time trying oysters! The mahi mahi dip was my favorite. The waitresses are friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Just got offf the boat after a long day of fishing, and Lynn's touched me like no other food I've eaten this week. I had a couple mangroves from OCB and the fish dip and steamed oysters. Delicious every single one. It was fantastic and would eat here again and again and again.

Yelp
****UPDATE**** Still ALLLLLL THE WAY!!! Came back for some of that shrimp and ended up taking some home too! This time I came prepared with my own wet wipes. Coke prepared to get messy and order a pound, MAYBE two of shrimp. Funny, I'm a true fat kid moment, I also got the baked oysters again. They didn't disappoint and once again, could have crushed another dozen when I was finished. It's a dive, so come as you are. This could be the best food in the Eastpoint, St George, Apalacihicola area!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and service! We tried the baked oysters (only got them cooked because I'm pregnant - fresh looked great, too), peel & eat shrimp with the garlic butter (!!) and fish dip. All excellent and enjoyed on their quaint patio overlooking the water. Definitely worth a stop!

Yelp
Our favorite place when here on vacation! Arrived shortly before closing, ate fresh oysters, Granny's Gumbo, Garlic Shrimp and the can't forget Key Lime Pie! No wait, no crowds, it was great catching up with all the happenings in the area. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is Shrimp and Grits day, we will be back for some of that!

Beth K.

Yelp
The best oysters we've ever had served by very lovely people. The shrimp and gumbo were fantastic, as well. Highly recommend!!

Anna W.

Yelp
Another great lunch today at Lynn's. I went for the steam shrimp but also ended up getting the oysters too...AND the key lime pie. Delicious! I had planned on sitting on the deck since I had my dog with me, but the staff insisted I sit at the bar where it was warmer. So kind of them! I had a great time hanging out with them. Thanks and Loki and I will be back.

Jillian S.

Yelp
BEST OYSTERS IN TOWN FOR THE BEST PRICE. Love this place and will come back every time I'm down here Fresh Cheap Clean Great atmosphere
google avatar

Karen R.

Yelp
This is a fresh fish market that happens to be a restaurant too. Very limited menu. What they make is good enough... Peel & eat shrimp, oysters raw or roasted with stuff on them, gumbo, and random stuff like corn dogs. Would be a good place to stop by to pick up fresh seafood to cook at home. BUT BE FOREWARNED At least half the staff were wearing shirts with the biz name on the back & LET'S GO BRANDON! on the front. I like my food without a dash of treason and spend my money with people who don't want to overthrow our democracy. Just saying......
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
The steamed oysters here were the largest and the best we have had in the area! Inside and outside seating, friendly waitstaff and knowledgeable shuckers willing to share their wisdom. We will be back.
google avatar

Krista R.

Yelp
Great prices, great views. After chowing down on oysters and dip, we picked up hot sauce, fish fry batter, hush puppies and fresh shrimp from the retail side.
google avatar

Andy J.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the fresh oysters at Lynn's. I'm an open-minded person with a diverse group of friends and family. The "Let's Go Brandon" shirt worn by the employee shucking oysters and other decor and signage in the restaurant made it clear they were catering to a specific audience. Upon entering, I made my way to the raw bar and quickly received a dozen fresh, raw oysters. They were delicious. My bill was $32 for a dozen oysters and two bottled, domestic beers. I feel like I may have paid a "tax" for not looking like the typical local patron. I do wish they were more focused on the awesome local seafood and less on political ideology.

Kip S.

Yelp
Best oysters and shrimp dip - ever. Casual dining with friendly staff- waitresses and food runners extremely nice, work so hard and stay nice!

Lisa R.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall with the best seafood - my kind of place. The waitress was so fun and loved sitting outside
google avatar

Christy K.

Yelp
My hubby and I stopped by and sat at the oyster bar and watched an expert shucker at work. He was amazing! We had some raw and some steamed and they were so fresh and delicious. Also met Granny who is in her 80's and had such wonderful stories to tell. Will definitely stop here every time we visit Apalachicola!
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
Great view on the bay. Terrific oysters and service! We were very pleased and would eat here again.

Debbie W.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Food is delicious. Everybody that works. There is super nice atmosphere and location is perfect on the water. Can't wait to go back.

Cathy G.

Yelp
Best oysters in the area! Wait staff was very attentive! The seafood market also had great looking fish, shrimp, etc. at a reasonable price. So glad we found this place and look forward to our next visit.
google avatar

Minnie L.

Yelp
Didn't try anything but the oysters but they were amazing! Got the Rockefeller, butter Parmesan, and jalapeño popper flavors, and they all tasted great Kia the oysters themselves were super fresh and delicious. Service was fast and friendly, really enjoyed the view by the bar on the water. Great experience in spite of the hot and humid weather, oysters around Apalachicola Bay are a must and Lynn's in Eastpoint does not disappoint.

Loren B.

Yelp
THE best, no doubt. We always plan on a stop at Lynn's. Service is good, sitting out is nice, food is great. Small cozy.

Jay P.

Yelp
Great atmosphere great food and good raw oysters will definitely be back and the steamed shrimp to go were great also

Yelp
Hit a hard Uturn after passing this place to go back and check it out. Was not disappointed! Do not miss this spot! We sat at the bar and watched them hand schuck cook and steam oysters, crab legs and shrimp. Did 12 rockafellar oysters, 6 margarite oysters and 12 raw! Finished with an epic mahi mahi dip and key lime pie. We tried 6 key lime pies in the area. Beach Pit, blue parrot, pirate island, paddys, and lynn's was the best.

Felicia S.

Yelp
Always a place I wanted to feast on!!!! Love me some hole in wall places!!! This place is the bomb! Started out with a waitress that needs a day off and attitude adjustment. BTW she is a gen Z kiddo. I think she took a smoke break so we got real customer service! Gumbo outstanding and oysters were perfection. Did not buy a T-shirt but better shrimp and shrimp dip for take home after a lovely lunch... Highly recommended but ask for a baby boomer waitress.

Dennis M.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch and started off with a dozen raw oysters. Now I know we are in oyster country, but at $20 a dozen they were pretty small. They were very fresh and clean tasting but I eat at my local Bimini's every Tuesday and they are $16a Dz and half price on Tuesdays. We split a bowl of Gumbo for $14.95. It was good, had a few shrimp & scallops but would not order again. We got a pound of steamed shrimp all the way with butter, garlic & old bay and they were very good.

Yelp
We stopped in for a late lunch on the way to St. George Island. We shared a table with our traveling companions on the covered deck with ocean view. Therese H. and I shared an oyster combo (raw, Rockefeller, and Margarita) and an order of shrimp with butter. There was bottled beer for me and canned wine for her. Everyone liked the seafood so much we made return trips for a.) seafood-boil ingredients, and b.) seafood dip. There's nothing fancy about LQO, even the bathrooms look like a gas station version out of my early childhood. Still, if I think in terms of the category "seafood shack," the experience had everything I was looking for: excellent, fresh seafood prepared properly, a friendly and efficient server (introduced to us as "Ginger"), a good variety of basic drinks, pricing that represented a very good value, and a parking area rather than on the shoulder somewhere down the road. Thanks LQO, we enjoyed being there.

Yelp
I love this place! Right on the water it is one of the best places to get seafood in Eastpoint FL. it has a great view as you can sit in the shade or sun and enjoy amazing oysters, shrimp, crab everything you can think of! even corn dogos for the kididiots ahha. The smoked fish dip is one of my favorite as well as the gumbo but the real reason i keep coming back is because all the ladies that work there are so nice you feel right at home
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped and ate oysters on three occasions. Always good! I went there recently and bought 10 pounds of grouper to take home to Tennessee. Didn't realize it at the point of sale, but this fish turned out to be the fishiest smelling fish I have ever bought. We washed it really well, prepared it and it was enjoyable, but I realize we did the sellers a favor cause this was next to having been thrown out. Not throwing Lynn's under the bus because I enjoy their food and will definitely go back when we are in the area. I'll just be sure to ask to take a good complimentary test smell of any fish I buy next time. Update....upon cooking and trying to like this mess a second time. I decided to throw it out. Discouraging to lose $250 on something that should have been much better. I'll not go back to Lynn's...
google avatar

Kara W.

Yelp
Loved this spot! The friendliest staff and excellent food. The oysters were clean and delicious. We even had key lime pie to finish the meal off and no regrets! Excellent choice for fresh oysters!
google avatar

Allen P.

Yelp
We're staying in an RV park right down the street for three months and we get all of our seafood from Lynn's. Of course the shrimp is the freshest and the fish always looks great but the also have frozen crab cakes and scallops. We have eaten there yet but we will.
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
I go here to get my in shell raw oysters to take home. Super fresh and best value around!

mike k.

Yelp
My favorite place on the water for the best oysters or shrimp at fair prices. Love the food.
google avatar

Lisa Jim H.

Yelp
Dirty falling apart menu's, over cooked shrimp, food not delivered at the same time. Overall dirty condiments and seating areas..Not the place for a germaphobe...
google avatar

Tim G.

Yelp
Fresh!!!!!!!!! Love chilling with cold ones and smoked mahi-mahi dip It's laid back bayside.

Angie M.

Yelp
Fresh, delicious oysters and good service. We also enjoyed the Mahi dip and took a container home.
google avatar

Kenelm W.

Yelp
If you like raw oysters you'll probably give it a five. We thought there might be other options. Gumbo was nothing special. The none seafood option, hot dogs were ok.

S P.

Yelp
Great oysters! No frills shop with service that is ok, but they do carry several options for seasonings and other odds and ends for cooking/serving fresh seafood.
google avatar

Shell O.

Yelp
We always eat at Lynn's anytime we're in the area. The food is fabulous and the service is exceptional.

Paul D.

Yelp
I am a Soldier on active duty and traveled to Eastpoint, FL on military leave with my spouse. I have never had oysters like this. Fantastic experience! The service was just as awesome as the food. In particular, Ms. June was such a warm and accommodating server. She provided the best advice and the food that she recommended was top notch. This is the first time I have made a online recommendation for a restaurant, ever. If you want authentic, come to this place. Thank you Lynn's!
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Such a great spot! Views of the Gulf, an outdoor seating area right on the shoreline that looks out to St. George Island, quaint and homey decor. We were greeted warmly both times we've visited. Our servers were courteous, quick, and efficient. The menu is simple and the food is great. Although the local oysters aren't currently available, they're serving good substitutes. Perfect size for the half shell, and the horseradish is amazing. So fresh and...vigorous? The shrimp is boiled but cooked just right, perfectly tender. Served piping hot. Among the best we've had anywhere. We also had the gumbo, which is extremely tasty. Lots of shrimp and scallops, not too thick. Excellent flavors. And finally, the key lime pie! It's got a meringue on top instead of whipped cream, a perfect finish for a great meal! It was an all around great experience.
google avatar

Chuck C.

Yelp
Yesterday was our first visit to Lynn's, which came highly recommended by some friends. The people very very friendly and the snow crab legs we bought were very good. However, the next day we discovered snow crab legs at the Piggly Wiggly on the island were $10 lb cheaper. My recommendation is to make a few calls and price check before you buy.
google avatar

Deb T.

Yelp
Got the shrimp salad, mostly mayo and pasta, wouldn't order it again. They are known for oysters. Should have had those. They have some offensive signs that I guess they think are amusing, I was not amused.
google avatar

Alan K.

Yelp
This is a fantastic and local raw bar and fish market- and they had local oysters from the lagoon today. Great fresh shrimp - steamed and seasoned to perfection! This is what I seek no matter where in the world I go- not fancy, authentic and local. Do not miss this place. This is real Florida.

Karin D.

Yelp
We ate here yesterday and had a fantastic experience! June was an incredible waitress, and the food was superb. Highly recommend this laid place, with a great view and delicious seafood!
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
If you are ever in the Eastpoint, Apalachicola or St. Georgia island area you have to stop at Lynn's and try the Gumbo. Simply the best!
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
We enjoyed a late lunch of raw oysters on the half shell and gumbo here today. The oysters were tasty although kind of small (I understand the Apalachicola oyster beds are closed so maybe that can't be helped). Our waitress was friendly and efficient-- really enjoyed her humor. Limited menu, but our food was good. This is also a seafood market. Outside seating views are nice. I am glad none of the wait staff were wearing "Let's go Brandon" t-shirts as I have just read some earlier reviews that they were, along with "White Knives Matter". That would have been a huge turn off and we five would have likely left before ordering. You want to make money? Then accept the fact that everyone's spends the same Dems, pubs, Muslims, black folks....so why antagonize a significant portion of your patrons with offensive political crap?
google avatar

Jake D.

Yelp
Best oysters I've ever had. And at $16 for a dozen raw I felt it was a good value as well. They were enormous. I plan on stopping by here on my way back north, that's how good they were.

Robert L.

Yelp
Every time we are in the Apalachicola area we make several stops at Lynn's for Oysters and Shrimp. They are the best in the area. It's also very pleasant to sit out on their deck and enjoy the gulf.
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
Only place right now that had fresh oysters . Got raw and baked . Baked we got margarita -baked-rockefeller-capt jacks ! Margarita wasn't my fav but all the rest were more to my taste ! Great as always !
