The 26 Best Restaurants In Mumbai - Mumbai - The Infatuation

"Maaslli’s barely adorned dining room in central Mumbai focuses on serving traditional Gaud Saraswat Brahmin classics off beaten metal dishes and flatware sometimes lined with banana leaves. For a city exposed to plenty of Malvani, Goan, and Maharashtrian food, the menu at its first proper GSB eatery feels familiar, yet novel. It helps that there’s a set of framed art prints of the cuisine’s foundational ingredients: triphal, turmeric, kokum, coconut, curry leaves, coriander, chillies, and asafoetida. Informed servers arrive with tasting bowls of a few base curries before guiding diners through the seafood-centric menu. Our favorites: crunchy stuffed bombil fry, spiced clam cutlets, surmai Karwari phanna curry, and unarguably the best ghee roast prawns (and mutton) in the city." - roshni bajaj sanghvi

The 38 Best Restaurants in Mumbai, India | Eater

"Maaslli is a great place to try classic dishes of the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin, a Maharashtrian community that really knows their way around fish. Try the mori ghee roast (shark in a hot and sweet roasted masala paste), bangda tirfal curry (mackerel and teppal curry), and some prawn biryani. Ask for the GSB specials on the menu, and check out the kharvas (pudding the consistency of panna cotta made from colostrum) for dessert. Maaslli heralds a wave of change in family-friendly dining in Mumbai, as more restaurateurs focus within the cuisine of a single community rather than serving pan-Indian menus." - Sumedh Natu

Whenever we have craving for seafood we land here. This place serves one of the best seafood. Located centrally at kemps corner this place is newly opened but has exactly the same taste as the erstwhile worli restaurant. We had fried prawns, fried bombil, kubbe wadi, Bombil thali, Prawns thali and Tirfal Clams Saar. All the dishes were lip smacking and super tasty. Ambience was welcoming as always and so was the staff, very polite and friendly. All stars to this gem place and highly recommended.

Authentic GSB Seafood Experience! Visited Maaslli for the first time yesterday, and it was an absolute delight! As a GSB myself, it was heartwarming to experience our community’s rich culinary heritage in such an authentic and high-quality setting. The seafood was incredibly fresh, prepared to perfection, and bursting with flavor. Every dish reflected the essence of home-cooked GSB cuisine with a touch of finesse. A big shoutout to Prasad and the team for their warm hospitality - made the experience even more special. Looking forward to many more visits!

Walked in here to soothe my seafood palate..Food was great. The service personnel should be more informed about their menus and how to explain them to the guest though . ONE BIG TURNOFF WAS THE NON AVAILABILITY OF WASHROOMS ...PLEASE NOTE BEFORE WALKING IN ,THERE IS NO WASHROOMS HERE SO IF YOU HAVE A FULL BLADDER , YOU WILL HAVE TO SKIP OR ELSE WALK DOWN THE ROAD TO A NEARBY BUILDING ENTRANCE WHICH HAS A COMMON STINKY WASHROOM.. REST LETS TALK ABOUT THE FOOD, WE TRIED THE STUFFED BOMBIL, PRAWN GHEE ROAST, CRAB LOLLYPOP, SQUID FRY, RAWA THALI ...WAS EXCELLENT!! ITS A SMALL AND DECENT RESTAURANT.. THE THALI FISHES IS COATED IN RAWA so incase you don't like a rawa coating you can ask them to just fry in their normal inhouse fish masala... Nothing much to offer in beverages and deserts though!!! HAD THE GULAB JAMUN WHICH I FEEL IS NOT MADE INHOUSE .. ALL IN ALL A GOOD EXPERIENCE BUT PLEASE WORK ON SETTING UP A WASHROOM...

Masali at gowalia tank is small but neatly done up. We ordered Karvari fish curry and prawn sukke. The Karvari fish curry was a bit watery, and the prawn sukke had more grease than we anticipated. The crab soup was quite spicy, and unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to adjust the spice level. I didn’t try the fish thali, but a friend did. It comes with a small portion of solkadhi, which seemed sweeter than usual. This might be due to the sugar added in the premix or perhaps a sweeter kokum syrup. For dessert, we had steamed modak, which was a bit disappointing. The outer rice coating was too thick, and the modak itself was soggy. All in all I’d say the experience was average and I would probably not visit again.

We had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! From the moment we arrived, Anthony took incredible care of us — attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful. The ambience was lovely, the space was clean and inviting, and the overall vibe made for a really enjoyable meal. Every single dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It’s rare to say this, but there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t love. The drinks were just as impressive — refreshing, well-balanced, and delicious. Service was quick, the team was efficient without rushing us, and we left feeling very, very happy. If you’re a seafood lover (or even just curious to try), this place is an absolute must. Highly recommend!

This 3 year old restaurant is a small restaurant with a seating of about 20 to 24 people. We had to wait for 10 minutes to grab a table. Decently decorated. But cramped for space. Service was professional and prompt. We ordered a Prawn Thali and a Chicken Sukka, which is the not the best I have eaten. I have tasted better Sukka in Mangalore and Udupi. The dish had more bony pieces of chicken, which was devoid of the taste of Sukka. The chicken was not marinated properly or boiled chicken was added to the sukka masala. The thali was good. The prawns fresh. But I would have preferred a veg dish like sukke to complete the thali. Overall a good place to have Konkani food. Hope to see some improvement in the quality of dishes!

Service is poor. The food is spicy. The person in white shirt is not polite and lacks customer service. They charge a bill of 5k but could refill a small bowl of 50ml kokum curry which shows lack of customer interest
