Celebrated my birthday here and Ingrid made sure we had the best time. The atmosphere is great, music is good, and drinks are amazing. There’s also a dance floor in the back which is a lot of fun.

Best dance club around, no cover charge and the cocktails/drinks are perfect and served by an amazing staff. You can always count on great vinyl disco hits being spun here with a non pretentious group of people dancing in the back. Truly a gem amidst an ever growing scene of head bobber venues wishing they could really let loose. This is the place to let loose.

I cannot speak more highly of Mad Tropical. I hosted my 28th birthday party here and the whole staff was SO accommodating, and excited, and kind about everything from the planning, to the execution, to the clean up! Ingrid, is truly the best person to work with and treated my party as if it were her own. I have never felt more supported by a staff when planning a party in my life. Everyone had the best time and I will absolutely be planning more events and coming to dance at Mad Tropical again and again!

My fiancee and I brought 30 of our friends on the day of our engagement to celebrate at Mad Tropical. Ingrid and the team there were incredible and went above and beyond to make us feel special. We had a champagne toast, jello shots, pizza, empanadas, chips, and salsa. Not to mention INCREDIBLE cocktails. The service was impeccable. As the night went on, the back room opened up, and we moved the party back there dancing to great music until the bar closed around 4 AM. This place has it all, one of my favorite spots for daytime drinks or late night vibes. Thanks again to the team at Mad tropical for making the day of our engagement unforgettable!

This place is AMAZING! Three rooms to choose from, front room including bar meet greet mingle, middle room quiet small space for intimate convo, and the back room with tonz of space to dance. They hire the best DJ's fun cool vibes with good jams. Also I went for brunch and it was a 5 star brunch made by two amazing female chefs. Go there and have some fun!

This is a cool bar and food spot. The decor is tropical and uplifting. The staff was really nice and personable. I had the porky fig pizza and it was bomb. The drinks were delicious. They had djs that played cool music. All in all a solid time with chill vibes.

The vibe of this place is next level!!! What a great atmosphere!! Came here on a Saturday night after midnight and we were so enthralled with the energy of this place. Three rooms: one room had the bar, another room was quieter for a conversation/chilling and then the third room had the DJ/dance floor. While the music was not what we were expecting it was so FUNKY and they played disco so we had to stay. Such a different vibe than most other places... everyone was just dancing freely and not judging one another. I loved that the DJ was actually mixing real records and NO ONE WAS REALLY ON THEIR PHONES?? Felt like we entered a time-warp and it was so refreshing to experience!! People weren't pushy, the bartender made us great drinks and even the bouncer was the friendliest on our way out. No complaints!!!! We'll most definitely be back :)

Best place for dancing. Vinyl only djs bring the artform back to what is should be. Refreshing.

Let me start by saying I've only been once so it may have been an off night. But I went on a Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We read some reviews and were happy to know there's a dance floor in the back that's separate from the bar area - gives some variety. They were playing house music in the back with a fog machine. The dance floor would sometimes fill up and then empty out. Overall the vibes were just not it for me. After we entered and walked to the back, a friend said, "It feels like we just walked into a frat party, right?" It was just not the crowd I would expect for Bushwick. But I'm usually in queer spaces so maybe this is normal and I didn't realize. People weren't unkind or anything but it wasn't a space I'd wanna go back to. We all got some fruity cocktail which was fine. Nothing to write home about and pretty sweet.

Lives up to its name in both decor and drink offerings. Perhaps on the younger side of the crowd but I'd come by again.

A group of us were there on Saturday night for a friend's bday. In one word, meh. The lowlights: Cold as F inside that I kept my wool hat on. Emptyish No food, as we were expecting, and the group ordered from an outside establishment. The positives - the cool fat lava like tile wall next to the hanging plants. The semi-private back room was very cool - I'm sure it would be a very cool place to hang in. I got bored and left on the early side. I was a little peeved that I trekked out from south Brooklyn for an underwhelming evening.

Great little spot with awesome ambiance and really good entertainment. DJ's weekly and good food when available. Make sure to come by when Candy is bartending she's the best!

Beautiful tropical atmosphere and delicious cream pie frozen drink suggested by lovely bartender during happy hour, she even offered to change music to our liking. Nice intimate room in back for private conversations.

Really like this place. No cover and it's large. Front area to talk and hang and back area to dance the DJs are always good playing fun music that feels like a disco. Probably the best place in Bushwick to dance consistently. The crowd isn't too annoying hipster nor young, it's pretty mixed. The cocktails are really good. Only note is they should have a couple cool mocktails. Me and my other friend weren't drinking alcohol and would have gladly paid full price for some tropical fruity drink. A lost opportunity, since so many people are going in and out of sobriety. I love the bartenders. They're actually nice and respectful which is rare for Brooklyn bars, especially in Bushwick. I noticed it's the same two dudes often, so that tells me it must be a good place to work. Whoever owns this place and manages it did a really good job in constructing the ambiance, theme and procuring the DJs. Well done! It can get packed on the weekends, but people don't start actually coming in until midnight or 1am, so if you get before then you'll the place for yourself.

Mad Tropical is the best tiki bar I've been too in a very long time. The bartenders are the best and the food is amazing! They have food pop-ups almost every week which aligns with guest DJs. Great for dancing and a night out with your loved ones.

Really enjoyed the drinks! Very strong and reasonably priced. Its also a very cute bar, indoor and outdoor seating.

Comfy space. Great tacos and cocktails. Low key place to hear music and just be yourself. Great neighborhood joint. Keep up the good work!

This is a cute spot in Brooklyn! The furniture inside is nice with velvet plush chairs and a jungle like wall aesthetic but when I had drinks indoor the outside door was open and it was freezing! (Please close these doors until the temp outside is 65 and up) overall drinks were good and the bartender was friendly. The layout is a bit weird with a very narrow hallway towards a back seating space (doesn't feel very open) but aside from that I will try it again for drinks especially once they start serving food.

I came here on my birthday and reserved Zeus's Paradise. The place was super busy and the reservation had gone over their time and into mine and I had a A LOT of people showing up with very little room to navigate. Finally the room was made available and because of the mishap, the establishment gave us a free bottle of champagne. We had an amazing time! I wish the the music selection was a little more current and there was a little less fog on the dance floor but the night was epic nonetheless. My friends still talk about it being one of the best parties thrown and it's thanks to Mad Tropical!!

My favorite place to go out in Brooklyn! Also hosted my birthday party in their private room and it was truly the best experience ever!!!

Ended Saturday night at Mad Tropical. With fantastic music, quality drinks, and reasonable prices, it is hard not to like what this bar is doing. Quality: Mad Tropical is an awesome little tiki bar found in Brooklyn. They have lots of exotic drinks and as soon as I arrived I knew I needed a beach drink. I went with their Frozen Pina Colada, which completely hit the spot. Sweet and fruity, yet still strong, it was perfect for a warm dance floor. But if that isn't your style, they had plenty of other cocktails, and beers available. Quantity: Stronger than your average Frozen Pina Colada. Value: $10 for a Frozen Pina Colada. Ambiance: Mad Tropical is a tiki dance bar located in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. The surrounding street is residential so it is pretty easy to miss this spot. Inside they basically have three rooms. A bar area towards the front with a few tables to relax at. A club area in the back room, complete with dance room, DJ, and disco lights. And a private room in the middle, which worked as a nice cool down spot after being on the dance floor. The decor is tropical with lots of bright colorful lots, neon, and greenery. And the music is fantastic. Some mix of house, disco, funk, and jazz. It had the whole crowd on their feet. Crowd: The bar was packed with folks in Halloween gear, even though it was not an official Halloween party. But the costume selection felt right for the awesome funky foreign music selections. Service: Excellent bartenders and a great DJ. Parking: Street parking can be found easily a few blocks away.

One of the best clubs in NYC. Some of the best NYC DJ's that spin some of the most unique disco, funk, and soul around. Extremely LGBTQ+ friendly. While you might hear one of your favorite 70's or 80's anthems once in awhile, the DJ's are really constantly setting out to bring you grooves you haven't heard before but will have you entranced and dancing. Catch Dirty Finger the DJ who also DJ's frequently at House of Yes. Bartenders are super nice. Bouncer is the nicest bouncer in Bushwick. If you're set on having a night reminiscent of NYC 70's/80's dance culture with modern drinks, this is your spot. Back room to get down. Zeus room and front booths to take a breather and meet cuties. Front room to get your drinks. Even if your nights tend to veer more towards deep house or EDM, this is definitely a club worth checking out. It certainly is my favorite club.

Wow. Just wow. If you want empanadas PLEASE get them here and while you're at it, have Benny be your waiter. The food here is soooo good, the music the vibes, everything is so good but wow- the food

If you think you left your credit card there and you don't live in the immediate neighborhood, you're assed out. They have no phone number listed and their website says "If you left an item behind including a credit card please come in the following day that we are open and please check with the bar tender who can go through lost and found and help you find your lost item. *Note Emails are answered in a remote location and unfortunately we would not be able to assist you in retrieving your item. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items." So take a train 75 minutes each way to see if they maybe have the card when a two minute phone call could tell me for sure? This is yet another "new Brooklyn" establishment that doesn't understand what being in the HOSPITALITY business means.

Was on the hunt last night to check out a new bar instead of the usual 3/4 places we frequent. This bar is close by and offers frozen drinks, I figured why not. It was around 7:30, the place had few patrons. The bartender was in a deep convo wh someone at the bar, we were never acknowledged or greeted. After what felt like 5 minutes and still no service we walked out, never to return. Not sure if this place has an "ideal" crowd they would rather serve, but this isn't the place for anyone.

Only went here for drinks but this is my new neighborhood spot! The drinks were both strong and delicious. The bartenders were kind and and engaging in conversation. I really felt like it was a neighborhood spot. Will for sure be back soon to try the food and other drinks :)

Sign outside said $7 cocktails and $2 tacos. Realized after our second order that we were being charged $8 for cocktails (we had been tipping her for every drink/item). I asked the bartender and she said she was too busy to change the sign for the new price. She made it out like it was my problem because I still paid for it, and she got pretty aggravated and drew a lot of attention from everyone at the bar, which was really uncomfortable. She did eventually give me back the money because I held my ground that I was paying for her mistake, but she suggested I was stealing her tips. I don't feel like I can go back now. On the good side - music was pretty decent and the 2 dollar tacos (Tuesdays) are good if you're on a budget but kind of dry and not anything special.

Two different occasions that I've tried to go now they were closed both times even though their hours said they would be open.

I went here with some friends because they said this place was fun. Initially, it seemed geared toward more of a younger crowd which made me apprehensive to want to go inside. That opinion quickly changed as I made my way to the back where I was met with people from all age groups but on this particular Friday night it seemed like it was 25 and up. I was a bit surprised for this place to be playing 80's music on a Friday night. It def wasn't what I came there for. Overall, I had a pretty good time. The space is quite cramped in the front but has more room in the back where you can actually dance.

It's kinda like a tiki bar. It would be if they had little umbrellas for fruity drinks and tacky decor, which basically defines a tiki bar. They got pina coladas tho! Cute spot to meet up with friends. They got a dance floor in the back too! I'm a big fan of tiki bars so I was a bit disappointed when I found out this place was tastefully put together. I need a big ass menu of colorful drinks, a lonely old man sitting at the bar, and an umbrella for Christ's sakes. Giving it a 5 anyway cuz it was a good time.

This place was super cute. He ambience was perfection definitely felt like I walked into an island bar but as soon as we walked in, the stench of bathroom hit us. It was almost unbearable. I got a orange cream pie colada and it was really yummy! We ordered tacos which were $2 for happy hour and they were decent (I had the chicken Tinga), the nachos were okay too, my friend mentioned they smelled funny almost as if the sour cream was spoiled but they tasted fine. It was a nice spot to go to for a little bit but the bathroom smell really ruined it.

Almost everything about this bar is perfect. The orange colada made me feel like I was on a beach somewhere. The decor is all very well-done. Butttttttt the music in the back for dancing was a major letdown!! I don't think the DJ played anything from the last 3 decades. So much potential for a room dedicated to dancing. I guess this is a matter of taste, but a lot of people in the room seemed to agree with me.

Super covid safe, great margaritas and super good chicken tingas. Our bartender/server Juan Carlos was really amazing and made us feel at home. Really cute outdoor seating. Will be back !!

I was in Mad Tropical for brunch, and the service was excellent, the waitress very attentive all the time, always answering my questions in a pleasant way and the food was delicious. I ordered the Eggs Beneduck. I would definitely go back here. ;)

mad tropical lives up to it's name with fun cocktails, and a fantastic selection of music with a great back-room dancefloor to boot (try to go during one of their afro / dancehall nights!) I haven't tried the food here yet, though I hear it's banging. Overall the place has a really lovely vibe. it's DIVERSE which is much needed in these parts, and definitely earns it's place in the neighborhood circuit.

The good: The bartender was overwhelmed but as long as you were patient with her she was wonderfully friendly and made a great drink! Drink prices could have been worse. The back dance room was a LOT of fun The bad: HUGE bathroom line, holy crap. The back dance room was way too hot and needed better ventilation So overall a fun place but I'm not sure I would trek here again as it's a LONG walk from the L.

Mad Tropical is very different from it's sister, Tender Trap. The vibe here is tropical and disco! The cocktails here are well-made with a fair amount of alcohol. The front room has a chill vibe with ample bar stools to chill with friends - and the back room is for dancing. I also noticed some people order food here, so if you get the drunk munchies.. seamless away! Pros: does not get too hot on the dance floor, location, vibes, cocktails Cons: only disco music

EVERYONE misses Tandem... BUT, holy shit I loved the guacamole and the cauliflower and the chicken tacos. Bartender Lindsey is also awesome -- go there now and thank me later!!!! BOOM!

Went here for a friend's birthday. It was very crowded and was a hassle to get to the bar to order. The bar tenders were obviously working very hard but not enough of them. The space was large with multiple rooms. At the back is a dance floor. It was pretty small but equipped with decent lighting, fog machine, and a good sound system. The DJ was playing the same playlist over and over. The drinks were very average and decently priced for the neighborhood. Saw some people ordering tacos but did not get any myself.

RIP Tandem. Go for happy hour. If you are paying happy hour prices its worth it. Chips n Guac- delicious! Freshly made tortilla chips, this was the winner. Pickles Veggies- ridiculous at $5. A small bowl of pickled jalapeños and carrots, same kind you get in a big old family size jar for $4. Wings- tasty but what a mess!! They are NOT at all crispy. Cooked nicely and them doused in a spicy sauce that get everywhere bc wings are crispy and sauce has nothing to stick too. Tasty tho. Mexican Pizza- good value but soggy, base was mush. Go for happy hour drinks and chips n guac.

This bar keeps the block awake until 4am Wednesday-Saturday because they are unable to keep their customers under control. They need to hire a doorman and respect their neighbors. 0 stars.

The beer shot combo ofc is the wave. Good atmosphere and i watched some comedy too. First girl was kinda shy and awk but the second guy was funny its usually like that with stand up. Went with some friends and boyfriend. Bartender gave me a free shot and made my night! Im definitely coming back its a must stop. Bartender was mad chill and even let us get food from somewhere else and chill. Good vibes in here def loved it!! Zuzuka is lit hopefully you come here and get her to bartend for you!

Fantastic place to dance, with pretty good drinks too! Some friends and I went dancing here recently, and we really enjoyed the mix of disco and house dance music. Great vibes, and everyone around us was also have a fun time dancing the night away. Not too crowded either, so everyone had good room to really dance around.

Delicious brunch! Unique and mouth watering flavors. The Billionaire bacon was worth the visit alone. Everything was so good! Duck hash...yum!!The homemade bread and buttery biscuit... I'm ready to go back!

I went to Mad Tropical and thought it was just okay. The food was okay and the drinks were okay. Nothing jumped out to me. However, the waitress was really nice. And I am interested in finding out how their backroom dance parties are so I will probably go back to check that out.

Love mad tropical specially the bartenders Lindsay my number 1 she's the best as well as the others they just make u feel right at home the drinks delicious specially the piña colada omg the best I've ever had prices I will def be going more often also they have a back yard three rooms is just so amazing love it two dumbs up ....

The name alone is horrendous. That aside, I just want this place to be Tandem, the bar it was before and never will be again. It's a weird, horrifying hybrid of that. Such is life. But seriously, I'm not down with it.

please manage your drunk customers. hire doorman so they keep the area quite especially after 11pm. i will keep on calling police until i sleep peacefully without waking up on 2am because your drunk customers. thank you!

This bar has a very cool tropical layout with a decent selections of cocktails. The food options are ok, but can get pricey, as well as the drinks. Definitely a place to check out for a relaxing happy hour, but on weekends, it is very busy, and a bit more expensive than the surrounding bars.

Came here because they advertised happy hour and a taco special on their website got there sat at the bar only to find out they serve no food

I have to give extra special love to Mad Tropical for being some of the warmest most accommodating people in the business. I host a taco meet up and not only did they have us, they rolled out the red carpet. The carnitas tacos, talayuda and guacamole are everything, thank you Tristan. Juan Carlos makes some of the best cocktails around and he's just all around the nicest and the best. Ingrid warmly greeted us. These guys are awesome. The space is also great, music is cool and there's dancing. A must do in Bushwick Come for the food, stay for the people. Win win
