"Dishing up delights from Delhi and beyond, this large Indian restaurant was once a small in-the-know spot on the northern edge of town. With an emphasis on street food, owner Prateek Reen wanted to present dishes that were hard to find in Munich. After moving to the inner city, the restaurant shifted focus toward more readily available curries, but the kitchen still uses Reen’s old family recipes combined with handmade spice mixes. The snacky options remain the stars, such as the pea and potato samosas and the papri chaat with yogurt, mint, and tamarind chutney." - Kate Mann

The food is a bit on the sweeter side, but quite good. The portions are also decent for the prize and they have quite a good menu. Definitely recommend the street food dishes compared to the more traditional meals, but overall, everything we ordered was good. My only complaint with the place was with the staff. They were a little rude when we asked them to take orders for starters separately from the main dishes, and also when we asked for more time to decide. Then they were a bit forceful in asking for tips at the end. But the bad customer service aside, the food and the atmosphere was great and I would definitely consider revisiting, but maybe I will try their other branch.

Super amazing experience! I loved the interior design, amazing outdoor seating. It felt like home🥹 The food was ready super fast and their Naan was amazing. I had Tawa chicken, I expected to be more spicy but was okish spicy. Mango lassi was really delicious. It was not the most authentic Indian place I‘ve been, but totally worth trying specially for a cozy date😍

Finally made it to Madam Chutney – and it was worth the wait! Ever since we saw the feature on the restaurant, we’d been eager to try the food. Without a reservation, it’s probably impossible to get a table – and even with one, you have a two-hour time slot. The restaurant was larger than expected, though unfortunately, due to the number of guests, it was incredibly noisy – more like a train station than a cozy dining spot. The background music was at a pleasant volume, though I would’ve expected some Bollywood tunes to give it more of an Indian vibe. The staff were extremely attentive and super friendly – huge thanks for the excellent service! The food was fantastic and impressively authentic. I really appreciated the thoughtful and creative menu – finally something beyond the usual standard dishes. The only downside was the spice level: despite our dishes not being marked as spicy in the menue, they were very hot – even hotter than some meals I’ve had in India. It seems chilli powder had been added a bit too generously. While I understand that adds authenticity, for untrained European stomachs it can be a bit too much. Unfortunately, the waiter didn’t ask us about spice preferences, and I forgot to mention it. The Paan ice cream was a lovely surprise – the flavor was incredibly close to the original! Sadly, it was half-melted when served, likely because it was placed on a still-warm plate – probably an oversight. All in all, the meal was a great experience – high-quality, delicious, and well worth the price.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Munich. Have been there twice already, would definitely go again. Though it might be a little more expensive than most Indian restaurants, their food and ambience definitely makes up for it. They also have a really nice cocktail menu.

Visited with my friends yesterday and overall, we had a good experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting. We tried quite a few dishes – Lamb Kheema Pav, Dahi Chaat, Pani Puri, Dal Makhani, Butter Chicken, Tikka Kathi Roll, and the Nawab Special Chicken Biryani – and each one impressed us in terms of flavor and presentation. The Butter Chicken and Kheema Pav were personal favorites! The only downside was the service at the beginning – we were left waiting for quite some time and had to call the waiter multiple times despite the restaurant not being busy. Thankfully, once the food started coming in, the experience picked up and made up for the slow start. Would definitely recommend it for the food and ambiance – just hoping for better attentiveness from the staff next time.

Got a mixed opinion about this place. No tap water available, which is a pretty strange occurrence in the EU. So we ordered bottled water, however once it came we realised we don’t want to pay almost 9€ for it and asked to take it back. Mind you, the bottle was unopened, just brought to our table. The waiter argued that they have a system which does not allow you to remove items once it’s added. Cannot imagine this possibly being true so seems to be a line they use to make an extra buck. I would understand if it was a cheap eats place trying to make a living but this restaurant is definitely on the pricier side. Do you really need to squeeze out 10 bucks for water when we paid 100€ for this dinner ? Samosa chaat and Keema Pav were really good, I recommend ordering them. The chillies on the side don’t do much if you have a spice tolerance, but for most people will probably add a kick. Butter chicken was good, not very sweet, which I appreciated, but not spicy at all. Dal Makhani was super bland, I don’t understand how it’s a star dish whatsoever. Don’t get it. The atmosphere was nice. All together it was alright, but given the price point it’s below average.

We had travelled from City for a day tour and came to Restaurant especially after having watched your documentary on ARD which was inspiring, but unfortunately it was really disappointed after the Visit. Wait time outside- 15 min even when inside lot of free spaces where available. After getting inside, took 10-15 m to take order and post that slow service. We started with Mango lassi which wax full of essence, followed by Paneer lababdar, which was tasteless. Roti and laccha paratha was burnt( photos of second Roti after we returned first as it was not eatable) After this we did not dare to order anything. Not so good experience. The restaurant around my house serves far better food, service and ambience.
