Madam Chutney

We stopped by Madam Chutney for lunch during our time in Munich after finding it through a Google recommendation. We went through the menu and ordered a few dishes. Here are our personal ratings Vegetable Jalfrezi 4/5 Chana Masala 4.5/5 Chicken Biryani 5/5 Naan 4/5 The food was delicious and the service was very good. Overall, it was a great dining experience and definitely worth a visit.

A definite recommendation for a positive atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food altogether. The food was quite filling, but we enjoyed every part of it - and there was the option to take home the food we couldn't finish! The staff was friendly from start to finish, with some complimentary additions to our meals throughout. They stopped occasionally to check in, a casual chat here and there, but never interrupting the conversation at the table. We made sure to get dessert as well, and each course was satisfactory. A little on the pricier side for a student budget, but a must visit if you are in the area. However I would definitely recommend making a reservation, as the place fills up fast. I saw that it is not possible to make a reservation for the same day, so be sure to plan ahead (or arrive early and hope for the best like we did). Still, a 10/10 experience that I will be talking about for a while :)

The best Indian restaurant in Germany! The food is super tasty and savoury. I came here for the first time in 2023 and now 3 years later I came for the second time. This place impressed me for life and I will always come for dinner when I am in Germany. It is a must go place! I got very good service from Sukhi! Thanks so much

Tried 7-8 Indian restaurants in Munich so far, this one is best. We ordered North Indian Vegetarian dishes, it was perfect, real New Delhi flavors. And Masala Chai after lunch was cherry on top. Super happy experience.. keep it up 👍👍

Its a nice indian restaurant, taste and flavour was good. A small disappointing was the naan which we got wasn’t hot and felt bit hard and mango lassi it had this saffron or cardamom flavour bit overpowering. But chef special or recommend chicken tikka and mutton roganjosh was really good flavour. Chicken tikka had some dips, it was spot on !! Too good ! Overall a good experience and ambience. Better book a reservation, as i felt the place was fully occupied on monday.

Madam Chutney is a pretty fun Indian spot in Munich with a nice casual vibe. The tandoori chicken was absolutely the highlight of the evening – juicy, flavorful, perfectly marinated and grilled. Pav Bhaji was also very nice, good spice balance and comforting street style taste. However, the golgappe were a bit disappointing. Average taste and served without any fillings. Could be better. Not worth the price. To end on a positive note – the chai was excellent. Proper Indian style… aromatic, balanced sweetness, and genuinely satisfying. Overall: really good place especially for tandoori & chai. Some items hit stronger than others, but still worth going.

Visited last week with parents for lunch. Great service, excellent spread, worth every penny. The biryani was hands down the best biryani I tried in Germany, rich, flavor packed, succulent, just melting in the mouth. The portions were huge, ambience was outstanding. Highly recommended, cant wait to visit again.

Awesome food, not a watered down version. Highly recommend the papri chaat. People, please try the Rose lassi. It is actually something that people like in the north of India. Indians never drink mango lassi at a restaurant. Madam Chutney has to sell it otherwise Europeans will think it's not a proper Indian restaurant. Paan ice cream is to die for. It literally has paan in it, not just flavoured.

Excellent restaurant and the staff was very friendly and prompt Naan 4.5/5 Kofta 4/5 Paneer 5/5 I would make a reservation especially for the weekend

This was the last meal of ours in Munich before we returned to the US and it did not disappoint! This menu was so big it was hard to choose what to order , even for us vegetarians! The place was buzzing so we were grateful they were able to seat us after a short wait. We enjoyed lassi and mocktails along with indo Chinese chaat to start. The Gobi manchurian was so good it tasted more Asian. Gol guppa was nice and spicy and refreshing and papdi chaat was delish. All very shareable kind of tapas style. We then shared the paneer khati roll and dal makhani. The khati roll is very big and very shareable, good taste. The dal makhani was also great with garlic naan Because the restaurant was so busy the food did not come out piping hot, almost everything was room temperature but still tasty. I wish we had room for dessert because the gulab jamun and paan ice cream sounded good but we were stuffed. Overall really great experience, authentic Indian street food and beautiful decor!

-Great location -Cool building -Deliciously spicy -Excellent service The food here is so tasty! We try to come here for dinner whenever we're in Munich. The people are lovely. Hopefully we can make it here in a warmer month so we can sit outside in the courtyard. Do your self a favor and make a reservation here.

Found this place randomly while in the area and thought to try our luck getting a table for dinner as most places in the city require reservations. We got lucky to get seated inside within 10min on a Friday night. This place is in a basement level, but surprisingly quite large with a private dining room for large groups and two other areas full of seating. Seems they have an outdoor patio space but too cold that night and may have been closed. We shared a few items and were stuffed! The dal makhani was just right and a hearty choice for a cold night. Pairs well with garlic naan or you can enjoy with rice. The Khati Roll (paneer & peppers) was pretty heavy. Two people could easily share it when sharing other items. Found it to be a bit spicy. The cauliflower manchurian was probably my favorite. Crispy and enough sauce but not spicy. The golguppe & Dahi Puri were pretty basic. Drinks were good too. They offer mocktails and even masala chai. The one thing they need to work on is quicker service. We waited a very long time to place an order and to make payment. The couple next to us appeared to be in the same bind just waiting with their drinks for a long time. The menu is expansive. We ordered classic items we'd find at most Indian restaurants and they were basic but good. The decor is a nice red color with a little classic Bollywood art splashed inside. Restrooms are available. No Wi-Fi. Also remember you'll need to walk down maybe two flights of steps to access the restaurant. Didn't seem to have an elevator.

We did a stop over at Munich on our way back from India. Stayed there for 4 days. On the very first day we went for dinner at this amazing Indian restaurant. Food, ambience, service was top notch. We came back 2 days later and were amazed again. This is as authentic as it gets Indian restaurant. We had the following: Day 1: 1. Samosa Chaat. 2. Chili Chicken 3. Prawns 4. Naan (the best Naan ever) 5. Kali daal (it's better than Bukhara - Maura in India). 6. Butter chicken 7. Tandoori chicken The next visit: 1. Tandoori chicken 2. Samosa chaat 3. Prawns 4. Goat curry (I am still missing it) 5. Kali Daal 6. Naan A must visit and for those who live in / around Munich - you are lucky to have Madam Chutney!!

Missing Indian food on vacation so we stopped in for an early lunch. Quick service and very attentive. The dining area was clean which is the only thing I care about when it comes to decor in a restaurant.

"Indian Street Food" evokes images of authentic, fast, no frills, cheap Indian food. Authentic - sure, those are well known Indian staples, tasty too. Even the wine! Yet the food is not Indian street food, but Indian restaurant fare of the kind that they would have multiple waiters in India for. Fast - definitely: you'll be in and out in under 30minutes if you want. No Frills - somewhat actually; the interior a ragtag collection of furniture, but all with a nice warm welcoming atmosphere. No white table cloth or linen napkin, no complimentary papadam, no digestif on the house that other Indian places offer. Cheap - unfortunately not. It's popular though. 3.5*** I'd say, 4**** if they adjusted the pricing to all the frills they left away.

So delicious!! You walk down the stairs and it's super cool-great decorations. Food was DELICIOUS and fun cocktails. We walked in pretty late and they still sat us and were very nice about it. There is a connected courtyard and a bar. Highly recommend--I would definitely return.

Food is fantastic! Very nice vibe in the restaurant as well. The drink menu was extensive and they were very good.

We love Indian food and passed this place while wandering Munich. We checked Yelp and there were a handful of reviews. We decided to give it a shot on Friday night without reservations. They seated us without delay. We had read the service was slow and food was lukewarm due to delay but that was not our experience. Solid service with English menus and fabulous food and wine. We enjoyed it so much we returned Saturday for dinner too. It was busier and service slower by American standards but typical of German standards. Again good amazing. We had the sesame chicken and Old Delhi Buttered chicken both nights. We had the Lamb Fry Saturday after finding Friday's chicken Biryani good but not worth a repeat. We had buttered naan both nights. Awesome!!

I was on a business visit to Munich from California. Found this restaurant on web and thought to go there. The restaurant is in basement - they have some indoor seating and a better outdoor patio with plants etc. it was around 6 pm, there were two groups eating - one Indian couple with a young kid indoors and one white group outside on the patio. Waiter suggested me to sit indoors, near a speaker and cabinet. I asked if could I sit outside since there were 10 tables and only one was occupied. I was told all tables outdoors have reservations!! - I understood what was happening. I left after a few minutes and realized that it takes time for mental slavery to go away. I was not going to spend my dollars where I am treated in an inferior manner. Told the story to my host - he was shocked since it happened with me in an Indian restaurant.

I was quite surprised that this place did not have any reviews given how popular it was on a weekday. The food is delicious, presentation and service is great and the ambience is quite modern. Not the cliche Indian decor but a fun filled classy atmosphere. Don't go without making a reservation on weekends. We barely found one or two free tables on Monday. Good place if you want to go with your coworkers too. I'll come back again.
