The 17 Best Restaurants In Tampa

"Hidden inside Roast, a weekday deli and bakery, is a bookcase that opens (with the right password) to this dimly-lit speakeasy. Go on a Friday night when you can snack on sweet potato cornbread dripping in hot honey, blackened salmon drenched in a guava glaze, and a not-too-sweet plantain cream pie while a two-piece band plays Charlie Parker covers. Reservations can be tough since the space is small, so if you can’t snag one for dinner, try brunch and order their mimosa tree (which is really just a fancy name for a cocktail sampler of five different bubbly drinks). I found this spot and thought it looked pretty so I invited a few friends to join me for my birthday. The ambiance was stellar! I was absolutely taken with the scenery and attention to detail. It was only rivaled by the amazing service from Jessica. Not only was she lovely in appearance but she was just amazing, she made the experience a ten with her friendly and witty demeanor. Literally she did everything within her power to make this experience the best it could be. She deserves all the accolades.

We visited on Friday for a friend’s birthday while in Tampa and had a phenomenal experience from start to finish. The hostess, Lindsey, set the tone the moment we walked in. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, she went out of her way to find us a table and shared a bit about the restaurant while we waited. The jerk teriyaki salmon was absolutely top-notch, and the Parmesan hot honey Brussels sprouts were delicious. The cocktails were outstanding—especially the rum punch, which quickly became my favorite. To top it all off, there was live entertainment, and the singer was incredible. Highly recommend for great food, drinks, and atmosphere!

We had an incredible experience at Madame Fortune! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and vibrant. The food was absolutely packed with flavor—every dish we tried was expertly crafted and delicious. You can truly taste the care and creativity in each bite. What made our visit even more memorable was our server, Tim. He was friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. Tim’s service took our dining experience to the next level. If you’re looking for bold, flavorful cuisine and top-notch service, Madame Fortune is the place to go. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a really nice time at Madame Fortune — the atmosphere was vibrant, the food and drinks were great, and everything started off perfectly. Our server, Cheyenne, was friendly and attentive at the beginning, making us feel welcome and helping us with recommendations. Toward the end of the evening, though, the service started to taper off a bit. It took longer to get refills and to close out, which was a little disappointing after such a great start. That said, we understand it can get busy, and overall the experience was still positive. We’d definitely come back — hoping for that same great service from start to finish next time!

Google
Tim was amazing! I visited for my birthday and he was the perfect server! Thanks Tim I’m getting back on my flight home happy because of you! I appreciate your service! You were great! Food was amazing aswell! *Although Tim was great when we came in there was a guy sleeping in the lobby upon our arrival they let him in early so I assume he was someone they all knew. It was just unprofessional! Great place and I will definitely be back.

Visited for someone's bday. The atmosphere and location are prefect for solo dining or dates. I ordered Caribbean Lamb Chops which was decent. The lamb chops weren't falling off the bone good because they were pretty tough, but had flavor. The brussel sprouts lacked flavor. Lastly, the mash potatoes were prefect (flavor and texture)!!! The sweet potato cornbread was prefect like cake and tasted amazing. If I ever return, I'll try something else.

Google
Great atmosphere in a speakeasy setting. Small restaurant offering up thoughtful southern meals. Supreme customer service by our waiter. Forget her name but she was outstanding. Even helped us take pictures and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the night. I wanted the fried snapper but they were out! Instead settled with the Sheppard pie. Not enough oxtail in the dish itself should have went with the standard oxtail dish. Small pieces of meat in the pie, more mash potatoes than anything. Seafood fondue with plantain chips hit all the boxes with savory, cheesy and crunchy notes. Everybody else at my table enjoyed their meal, I was the only one who miss ordered. Overall it was a pleasant time with friends, with live music, exceptional customer service and good food. Paid parking lot around the corner. I will be back!

Google
Honestly the food was a let down, but we went for a friends birthday for the atmosphere and ended up being blessed with the absolute best server!!!! Jessica was fantastic, made sure my coconut allergy was addressed, checked on us multiple times, and attempted to address our issues with the food. I would honestly go back just for the atmosphere and to visit with Jessica. Fingers crossed the food elevates for the next time.

Yelp
The good. Place has awesome decor. The staff were all very friendly and interesting. The drinks were very good (tried the South of Harlem and another whose name I can't remember). We ordered the honey lemon pepper turkey wings and they were mind-blowingly good. I'd return just for that. The not so good. I wanted to make reservations. I happened to find them online, made the reservations for two and when I arrived they confirmed they saw my reservation. They then proceeded to ask for my password, to enter the speakeasy. I received no password. I pulled up the email confirmation I got and confirmed there was no password given. They said Open Table always provides it. I explained I'd reserved through their website. They explained they don't take reservations on their website because their website is non-operational. Except it wasn't because they clearly received my reservation. I was very confused. They let us in regardless. Clearly, they need to get their online presence together because there's definitely a way to reserved outside of open table. But just be aware of that little issue. The main issue here for me was that the place was very small (in typical speakeasy-type place fashion. But the rectangle layout and being seated in the very middle made it so that noise was all around us, everywhere. My date and I could not understand each other. We decided to leave after drinks and appetizer because we wanted to actually have a conversation.

Yelp
Overall my experience was nice.. the hostess wasn't the friendliest but we all have our days when we don't want to be at work.. we were told immediately that the kitchen was behind about 30 mins. I do appreciate being told than not being told at all. My table order the tostones, the sweet potato cornbread and the crab cakes. The only thing was a no go were the crab cakes, way too salty. My entree choice was the lamb chops with potatoes and eggs.. phenomenal! The lamb was cooked to perfection, my potatoes were crunchy and fresh. I enjoyed every bite. However the friends both order the shrimp and grits and to return them. The grits were cold and clumpy. If you are a grit person, you know that is not acceptable. The restaurant was kind enough to remake their orders. One decided to switch her meal to the veggie omelet which she said she should have placed that order in first while my other friend was still let disappointed in the second shrimp and grits. The manager came over, apologized and gave them each a complimentary order of the sweet potato cornbread which I believed they both appreciated of. Give them a try.

Yelp
Madame Fortune is a memorable place and experience filled with different flavors and positive vibrations that come together collectively. Jarvis and Cheyenne added to the great experience, with genuine customer service and interaction.

Yelp
The entrance is Hidden behind a bookshelf in a coffee shop. Love the decor inside. Comfortable seats at the car and half booths along the wall. We decided to stop in and luckily they had availability at the bar. Highly recommend reservations. For food we tried the Mac and cheese served in a skillet and the sweet potato cheesecake. Both were decadent. 10/10

Yelp
Sooo, Madame Fortune is a hidden gem in good ol' Ybor. I love a speakeasy with a secret entrance! We were greeted by a friendly hostess and grabbed seats at the bar since it was just me and my friend. The low-lit vibe made it perfect for a cute date night, the art on the walls was amazing, and they had a great music playlist setting the mood. Now, let's talk about the food. Babeee, did you expect anything less? Every bite was on point! I enjoyed everything I ordered and can't wait to go back to try more. What was ordered: Turkey Chicken Wings: Big and full of flavor Fries: Cooked just right

Cher E.

Yelp
This speak easy is nicely tucked away with a great atmosphere. The staff is pleasant and personable. The food....well that you have to try for your self, and come back here to say how you were not disappointed.

Yelp
I saw this speakeasy type restaurant on Instagram and decided to visit while in Tampa. Once you arrive at ROAST bakery a secret password is requested. Then you open and walk through a bookshelf into this secret soulful restaurant. The crab cakes were good with an equal balance of filling and crab meat. The Mac n cheese had a nice cheese pull and flavorful. They were not stingy with the bubbly for the mimosas. The music was mostly R&B and was not overbearing to where you could not have a conversation. Madame Fortune is a vibe and I will visit again !

Yelp
Disclaimer I was with a party of 16. The restaurant is small so we took half the restaurant. We had a great server Jodie. She what on half our party. I have to say water is a rare here. They give us a glass of water 1/3 filled ...it 90 degrees outside why can't I get water. After we finally ordered we waited 1 hours for food. The place has low lighting so trying to get picture for the birthday girl was a struggle. Let's talk food The main dish that was suggested was red snapper...market price 60. No we didn't have that. So at my table there was oxtail sandwich, jerk chicken fried rice, lamb chops, Salmon & oxtail nachos. Every said the meal was good. The lamb chops were tender. The fried rice had lots of flavor.

Yelp
Waiter was awesome, I think he was the only one this day. Food did take a while but drinks and appetizer didn't take long! It's right next to 7th and Grove. Sweet potato cornbread and turkey wings were a hit!

Yelp
We had an awesome time at Madame Fortune celebrating our friends' 29th anniversary. Our server, Cheyanne was a doll. She was very helpful considering it was our first time. We will be back.

Yelp
12/26/24. We were here celebrating the holidays in Tampa and were encouraged by other Yelpers to have dinner here. They were absolutely correct in their recommendations because we loved it! First of all, I loved the Madame Fortune speakeasy ambiance. I had never been to one. This was a treat. We entered the Roast Deli store from the street where we parked and were welcomed by the hostess and then the bookcase started to open and we entered into a wildly decorated and beautifully decorated darkly lit bar and restaurant. I immediately felt excited wondering what was happening next. Was I on a movie set? I was ready, ha ha. We were warmly welcomed by our lovely server, Chanel No.5, aka Shannelle. She gave us some good recommendations. Ti start with, my daughter ordered a drink called Find Your Fortune and found it to be delicious. I wanted cold still water. The food selections all sounded good but I picked Pepper Pot Shepards Pie, which was Really good! It came with the delicious Cornbread and a bean and spinach salad. Great meal! Loved it. My daughter ordered the Lamb Chop entrée and loved it. There was great R & B Rythym and Blues music playing in the background to increase everyone's mood to soothing and relaxed. Chanel checked on us every so often at the right times. She was absolutely the best! For dessert, we picked a slice of 4 layer chocolate cake to share. We didn't know it was the size of half a cake, lol. We had a few bites and took it back to the hotel room for later. If you are a chocoholic, then this cake is for you!! The very fresh and sweet strawberries on it were amazing! We had a fabulous dining experience and will definitely be back next time we are in Tampa! Thank you, Shannelle and MF.

Yelp
First time visiting for half of my party of four. Had a reservation for the first seating on a Saturday night. Took a minute for some of us to find the venue, but once we figured out the speakeasy part it was all good! Cozy atmosphere. Decor and art was spot on. Loved learning the story of Madame Fortune from the website. They have bar seating and tables. Everything we ate was tasty and visually appetizing. We dined on salmon with asparagus and rice pudding, plus grilled shrimp; oxtail pot with greens and cornbread; fried snapper, rice, greens and plantains. The only reason I couldn't give them a five is something was off in the kitchen in terms of timing. Three meals arrived at the same time, although one was missing shrimp. The fourth meal arrived at least ten minutes after the rest. Didn't like the fact that we had to ask about it. When it did arrive it was missing a side of greens which also came late. Our server was also doubling as bartender. Bathroom was nicely decorated and clean. I'd return again. We wanted to support a Black owned business, especially during Black History Month. So glad we gave them a try!

Yelp
Came here for brunch. It's kinda like a speak easy, the entrance is through a book case which was pretty cool. I ordered the pitcher of the sangria and it was very good, I recommend the potato corn bread and Mac and cheese. Everything was supper flavorful and the vibe was there. If you're in the area looking for some good food I would def try this spot!

Yelp
We came in with a reservation for 5 on a Sunday for bunch. The Ambiance: Very cool, aesthetically pleasing. It's smelled like an old and musty building though at 11am. I'm sure it gets better once the kitchen fires up. We were the only table for the first 30 minutes of our visit. The music was so loud we were shouting hear each other. The Menu: Everything looked good. Items with unique twists made choosing difficult. The Meal/Service: The food itself was probably a 4 star rating. The service seemed promising, our server came & took our orders 1st for drinks and again for food and never came back until we were finished to drop off checks. We were missing an ordered item and several in our group would have ordered more drinks. There is an automatic 20% gratuity on each check. My bill for French toast and a part of a champagne tower was just under 38 dollars. Paid in Cash, received no change, so I guess my tip was a non elected 20 plus percent. Overpriced, underwhelming.

Yelp
The ambiance was 5/5. The food was 2.5 for the price. I am so disappointed. The menu descriptions of curry, cajun, and other flavors promises an exciting taste. But everything we tasted fell flat. The cajun mussels was literally a bowl of melted butter, no cajun flavor. Portion size was ridiculously small for $11, maybe 6 mussels?? The non happy hour price was $22! Then the shrimp ceviche was all avocado, again no citrusy flavor. The menu said jerk shrimp, that shrimp was flavorless. Served with Truffle plantains, that had no truffle flavor. The lamb chops were extremely charred and should have been served. I could flake off the burnt crust The pasta literally says: spicy curry alfredo. It was not spicy, and I have a very low spice tolerance! I really wanted to like this place, but I guess you don't come here for the food. They charge an automatic 20% service charge!? For a table of TWO people. I am so disappointed At least the service was good and the music too.

Yelp
Madame Fortune was absolutely amazing. Chyanne served my partner and I and was very pleasant and speedy. If your looking for a great vibe with good music, fast service, and some good ole food, I highly recommend coming here for a spectacular time.

Yelp
the food, the drinks, the service all 10/10! the decor is phenomenal as well as the presentation of everything!
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
Make sure you make a reservation because this place gets busy (yes, even on a weekday). I enjoyed my lamb chops dinner and my drink. The curry chicken empanadas are very dry I would skip. For the quality and quantity of food that you are receiving, I do think it is overpriced. The ambiance is very cute and it is a "speakeasy" hidden behind a deli store. If I return it will likely be for drinks.

Yelp
I waited until I had quite a few meals under my belt before I decided to do my review so now I'm sure Madame Fortune really deserves the 5 stars I want to offer. Madame Fortune is a speakeasy with Caribbean inspired dishes, located behind the "secret" bookcase once u give the passcode for the week. The password changes weekly so you have to make a reservation on open table so they can send it to you ahead of your reservation. It's located inside of Roast Deli which looks like a coffee shop and bakery from the street. It's a pretty small dining room so it gets filled quickly so trying to go as a walk in isn't a great idea on Fridays and Saturdays when they're most busy. Now let's get to the food... Chef Ed really knows what he's doing in that kitchen. Here are the things I've tried, ordered from most to least liked and what I thought of them... Oxtail Pepperpot Snapper Lobster & Shrimp Curry Stew Lobster Macaroni Seafood Rice Cook Up Truffle Mushroom Omelet Beignets Blackened Citrus Salmon & Crabcake Shrimp & Chicken Curry Alfredo My rating of the Alfredo is possibly a bit skewed because I ordered it to go. Alfredo is never good when it's reheated.

Yelp
This was my second time coming to Madam Fortune's and first time for brunch!!! The brunch options were great and I ended up getting the sweet potato pancake entree that came with chicken wings, eggs, and a whole slice of sweet potato pie! I also got a side of grits. Overall, my food and the vibes were amazing! Docking a star because the service was a bit slow. It took over 20 minutes for my iced coffee to arrive after ordering it. But again, can't complain about the food one bit!
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Y'all, when I tell you that I left this place in awe, calling friends and saying we gotta go back - I am not exaggerating one bit. Everything about this place was INCREDIBLE. From the music, the decor (very Florida and classy and moody!!!), to the food, and the drinks?! Plus, phenomenal service. The food was straight fire. The bread board was fine, but that sweet potato cornbread was to die for. Next time, I'm gonna skip the bread board and get double cornbread for a big group. My curry chickpea stew was sooo good. I barely dug in (too full from the breads!), and definitely had enough leftover for two meals. I also got the Brussels sprouts, and they were super yummy. Baked to a crispy perfection, with tons of chili crisp. My friends got some different things and loved them all. We were all silent cause we were eating! Now the piece de resistance to me was the Room 30 Espresso Martini. It's their house espresso martini, made with Hennessy. Y'all, I can hold my liquor, but this thing was STRONG! And DELICIOUS! It threw me for a delightful loop. Cannot recommend it enough. Like I said earlier, I will be returning and introducing tons of friends who weren't familiar to this place. Shoutout to their restaurant group for an excellent addition to the Tampa foodie scene.

Yelp
Cool speakeasy located inside the Roasted deli. There are nice vibes. The bartender and waitress were nice. However the food service was slow even though it was as soon as they opened. I ordered the hash flight which was good. I also tried some of the sweet potato cornbread which was dry in my opinion.

Foodie N.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to finally try this spot after seeing all of the reviews on TikTok. I totally loved the ambiance when we first walked in. The decor is on point. I ordered the Turkey wings, cinnamon rolls, and Gouda grits. The Turkey wings and cinnamon rolls were delish. When I received my grits they were cold, but even after they were delivered got the second time, I did not like the flavor and consistency. Service was a little slow, hence the cold grits. Overall it was a nice experience!

Yelp
This is the sexiest Speakeasy in Ybor City. Disguised as a coffee shop with subtle vibes you enter through an unsuspecting bookcase you're transported to a dimly lit dining room and bar. Now lets get to the food: We had a variety and everything was phenomenal Brown stew chicken-flavor was amazing, chicken was moist Rice and peas were plentiful but just ok The cabbage/greens were SOO GOOD! Mussels were a little salty Oxtail sandwich: flavorful and the plantain chips were a perfect addition Lobster Mac and Cheese- I could eat it everyday!!! Drinks: YES PLEASE. They were out of 1 but their signature drinks were amazing and pretty Service: Chanel N° 1 the bomb! Attentive, great disposition and the right energy

Yelp
It was an early evening when we stopped at Madame Fortune for cocktails and appetizers. We had been in this hidden speakeasy in Ybor City before and were eager to try some of their food offerings this time.Once you find your way through the hidden door, you enter a space with a luxed yesteryear feel. Lighting is soft, and the atmosphere is relaxed but fast-moving. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure guests have a satisfying experience. We were seated at a table for 2 after a brief wait. Reservations are highly recommended! We ordered their Cava Sangria pitcher, which was the most refreshing drink ever! For appetizers, we ordered one dish from their Happy Hour menu, the amazing and highly recommended cornbread; and from A la Carte menu, their Crab Cakes! Delicate, full of crab meat, and delicious! Both dishes were amazing! Madame Fortune is the most stop if you are ever in the Ybor City area! You will love the food and experience!

Yelp
Everything was awesome!! Food-delicious Service- Amazing Ambiance- sooo cool!!! I live the concept

Yelp
This is a Black owned business, a sister business and next to 7th and grove! It is a speakeasy, so you will need a password and reservation. You might can walk in and get a bar seat, just from my observation while I was there. The front is a nice bakery with tasty pastries and sandwiches. It used to be pretty hard to get a reservation but I think a day before NYE, not many people were wanting to go out to eat so I made a resy an hour and a half before we went. The decor is so nice and speakeasy-ish. So kinda dark, maybe a little too dark. Delicious Caribbean Soul food. I've only been for brunch will need to go back fro dinner. They do seem to run out of ingredients, so just a heads up. The food needs no extra seasoning; my only complain would be the long wait for taking our food and drink orders.
google avatar

Candace S.

Yelp
I went to Madam Fortune's with a couple friends on a Thursday evening. We were impressed with how cute the decor and inside is! We shared a few items off the menu to include the wings, empanadas and shrimp along with the Madame Fortune specialty cocktail. The wings were okay and a sauce would have been ideal to dip them in. The empanadas were very good and the shrimp coating was a little too soft but good overall. The cocktail was on the sweet side and good overall too. The best part was dessert. The chocolate cake was SO good! The service was also very good and our server was pleasant. The menu is overpriced but nice for a date night or girls night out.
google avatar

Renelle W.

Yelp
Madame Fortune has potential. It's a speakeasy type restaurant and bar. I wouldn't call it a lounge. It is 21+, so not family friendly. The dishes are Caribbean inspired so "curry" "jerk" "oxtail" are some buzz words you will see on the menu. I went only for drinks at around 10pm. I did order the oxtail nachos (not on the menu), I enjoyed the flavors and it was a good option to share for our table of two. Our table was rocking like the Titanic, which was a little annoying and we told your server but it was never rectified. Keep in mind, 20% service tip is already included in the check.
google avatar

Yelp
Madame Fortune was one of those places that I had been dying to check out because I'm a huge fan of speakeasies and Caribbean food, but I was truly disappointed in my experience. I had a reservation at a specific time and we waited for over an hour to be given a table even though I was there at the time I had my reservation for. When we were seated, we sat down and then were asked to move to another table because they wanted to accommodate a bigger party, even after all the time we had waited and the fact that we were already ready to order. When we moved to the other table, our waitress was very dismissive but we still went ahead and ordered our food. The empanada was good, but really dry. The drinks were okay. But our entrees were not good at all. I ordered the curry and shrimp pasta and I couldn't eat it. The curry flavor was SO strong and salty, and the pasta wasn't cooked through, so all I ate was the shrimp and protein. My espresso martini was also super watery and lacking flavor, so all in all it was an interesting experience. I will probably go back to give it another chance but I was so sad about this disappointing experience at a place I had been wanting to check out for so long.

Yelp
Definitely a vibe! The service was quick, lamb chops were amazing too! The drink was meh-but everything else was great!

Yelp
I don't understand how this place doesn't have a higher rating. This place was AMAZING. The ambiance was incredible. I loved the secret entrance, and the secret password we needed for our reservation. Only down size for me personally was they were very short staffed. Our waitress Chanel was our waitress, and everyone's bartender. So the wait sometimes took a little longer. But she was KILLING it. She was super sweet and very helpful with the menu choices. LETS TALK ABOUT THE FOOD!! Cause BABY! It was absolutely AMAZING. cooked perfectly. Everything was delicious and very flavorful. No complaints at all. The sweet potato corn bread is to die for! This is your sign to order it!! I can't wait to try this place again. The restaurant does add gratuity to your bill, and it was only two of us. Just a little FYI but it's totally worth it. Parking was good. We parked in a parking lot right behind the restaurant. About a 5 minute walk. Maybe even less. It was like 6$ for parking.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for this spot, walking in, the decor and ambiance were really nice. The dining room is small, but the space is laid out well. Once we were seated, the waitress greeted us, and I was excited about the menu. They have a Caribbean based menu with big flavors, and I like that the menu isn't too overwhelming, and they also have a good drink selection. We ordered drinks and the hot honey lemon pepper flats for an appetizer, and things started going downhill. Our drinks (just vodka and mixer) didn't end up coming until after we finished the apps and were starting on our main entrees. Our main entrees took quite a while, and then when they came out, only 3 out of 4 of the people in our party got their food. The last person didn't get her food until 50 minutes later! Though the food looked great, multiple things were overcooked and also missing components of the dish. What made things worse is that the table next to us came in after us with a larger party and had a completely different experience. We watched them sit down, get served their drinks and food, finish their food and leave in the time that it took for us to get our food and drinks. Overall, I was extremely unhappy. The combination of the service delays and the disappointment with the food was only compounded by the lack of attention from the manager after we voiced our displeasure to the server. She did discount our bill as we asked but she didn't visit our table or offer any apologies as I would have expected. Though I wouldn't visit this restaurant again myself, I can see that the components for success are there. With some attention to detail and better leadership this place could really knock it out of the park!

Yelp
New chef changed the recipes to the best tasting items. Sweet potato cornbread was dry. Shrimp and grits undercooked. We sent this dish back twice. The manager actively listened to and understood our concerns. She deserves a raise.

Yelp
This restaurant is a whole vibe. The ambiance reflects dim lighting and puts you in the mindset of a speakeasy. It was noisier than most speakeasies I have been to. My server was kind but did not provide any refills for my soda only the alcohol. We were not told that the lamb chops would not come with 4 as pictured and described. She later told us that she forgot. Overall, it was great for dinner. Be sure to visit 7th and Grove for better music and more of a lounge vibe.

Yelp
I had high expectations for this place after seeing it on TikTok. I love finding different speakeasy's so I was eager to try this place. When my wife and I first got there we weren't sure if we were supposed to go right in or wait for the host to bring us in because there was no one at the hostess station in the waiting area. Numerous staff members walked right by us to go in but nobody said anything to us which I thought was weird. After about 5 minutes the hostess came out and asked us if we had a reservation. We gave her our name and reservation time and she told us she would sit us closer to our reservation time even though we were only 5 minutes early from our reservation time. When we were finally seated to my surprise the place was completely empty. So I was confused as to why we had to wait. The ambience was really nice, however the music was really loud and it was hard to be able to talk to my wife over the music. Now when it comes to the food, I expected a lot more. I was really looking forward to the sweet potato cornbread but it didn't take taste like sweet potato at all and was very dry. My wife got the rasta pasta and I got the seafood fried rice. My wife said her pasta was dry and didn't have much sauce at all. She also said that the only thing seasoned was the chicken. In terms of my seafood fried rice, it tasted like something I could've honestly made myself or something I could've got from the Chinese carryout. For the price of the food, it was definitely underwhelming. I will say the drinks were strong and our server was really good. This place has a lot of potential and can easily be so much better.

Yelp
Went for a second visit and it was even better. We enjoyed several dishes all with included photos. Everything was tasty.

Yelp
Cheyenne was a great server. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the nachos oxtail which was special of the night. The only one who didn't enjoy their food was a vegan Guyanese chow mein. Everyone cleaned their place. Highly recommend. You have to come through the roast bakery to get to this hidden gem. Music vibes are great. Good for a date night but sit close because the music goes to the ambience. Parking is ample around this location. I will be back and next time I'm going to try the turkey wings. My last picture will be of clean turkey wing bones. The collard green cabbage mix really good flavorful. Just know if you go with a group they have a 2 check minimum. So no individual checks Definitely visit if your in Ybor

Yelp
Made reservations for Saturday Brunch. This place is close to another one, similar one, so it's hard to find. There is no obvious sign. They also send you a "password to enter". Interior is pretty nice, modern vibe, not very loud. Unfortunately the bench is super hard to seat on, it's like seating on a concrete. Definitely not comfortable. They need something soft to seat on the benches. Chairs were comfortable. Service is automatic 20% charge and that's common nowadays, however in most places that do that, service is excellent. However, service here was absolutely horrible. We had to flag a guy for everything, literally asked him to fill out our water multiple times. And it wasn't even busy. Not a single time he asked us if everything is ok. Seems like he knows he is getting 20% anyway, so he doesn't care to just do a bad job. We ordered shrimp ceviche and that was pretty good. Too much corn but otherwise pretty decent. They have no healthy options on a menu at all, everything is extremely heavy. Also I didn't see any vegetarian or vegan options. I ordered mushroom spinach omelet, which I thought would be a lighter dish. My husband had chicken Benedict. My eggs were absolutely horrible, was mostly a cheesy mush with few mushrooms. I didn't taste eggs at all. Never I have I ever had an omelet that tasted like pure melted cheese. It came with potatoes that were super oily and heavy. My husband said his food was ok, but not great. They didn't have few options that were on a menu either. They had a deep fried salmon dish, which is ridiculous because salmon is such a great fish, why ruin it by deep frying. So options are pretty limited if you don't want a heart attack or diabetes. Food arrived super slow as well, and my turkey bacon never arrived, and after I was done with my meal a waiter said that "they are starting to cook your bacon", at that point we said we don't want it. How can you take 40 min to bring food and don't bring a side dish with a main food. Overall pretty bad experience. Also it's nearly impossible to find parking, the only available parking was $20 parking, which is crazy. Very disappointing. Price overall was way too expensive for what you get. They definitely overcharge you.

Yelp
One of the best parts of our visit was the service! Alexis was great! She was very cheerful and answered all of our questions. The seating is very tight but the food/drinks makes it all worth it. I would recommend Sweet Potato Cornbread, Oxtail, or Chicken Stew. I definitely will be back with friends to try more on the menu.

Yelp
This place was nice. I think we need to try again at a later time. We came at a very early dinner. We were the only ones in the restaurant which was super intimate and cool. However, we arrived 20 minutes after our reservation time. Our first part of the party was already there and seated, but when we came in late, they told us that we had to be treated as a walk-in, and they couldn't sit us, even though our party was already seated. Once we went through the fight with the host and we walked into the restaurant it was definitely very odd that they told us that we would be treated as a walk-in when there was nobody in the restaurant but our party. No one even came in until we were about to leave after we finish dinner. After we were seated a while, one last friend decided to show up and we walked outside to gather her and when we were walking back inside, the host told us we were out of dress code and can cannot sit inside the restaurant, even though we were already sitting in the restaurant with the same outfit we had on for over an hour. Once our friend came to join us the host made a big deal. They were unable to sit with us because they were not on the original reservation and they would send the manager over to talk to us. I've been the day. The manager never came to talk to us, I think it was because our friend sat comfortably at the table that we were already at. Host was a bit rude in my opinion. However, our server definitely made up for it! Our server was so kind so nice so knowledgeable about the menu. We loved everything that was delivered to us, except the calamari. The drinks were super great as well. The server was able to recommend the perfect drinks to us for our pallet. I would try this place out one more time just to try and renew my experience and try and go in at a time that is a bit more upbeat.

Yelp
Disappointed to say the least. I stumbled across Madame Fortune from a recommendation from a friend. I took my friend and fiancé here to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation for 3:45 but their website didnt mention that they close at 4 to prepare for dinner service. So we were basically seated as they were pre-closing.The restaurant is a speak easy vibe which we loved but everything stopped there. Our order: Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bake with Bacon and Gouda Grits Jerk Chicken Omelette x2 Brown Butter Biscuits (we never received them) The cinnamon toast crunch bake was lackluster to say the least. The food was cold and little to no flavor. The bacon resembled buffet style bacon which was disappointing since it was $5. Our server recommended the gouda grits but it was watery, flavorless, and had a sprinkle of gouda. The jerk chicken omelette wasnt as described. We were under the impression of having the chicken in the omelette not as a side. Also the barbeque sauce on the chicken completely altered the flavor. As mentioned previously, we were celebrating a birthday and reminded our waiter and online while booking. We received nothing special for the birthday but the table next to us had a dessert and sparkler. We were there for about 45 min and the service was extremely slow. I understand that they close to prepare for dinner but they shouldnt take 3:45 reservations then. We ended up spending $128 for 3 people. It is noted that there is an automatic 20% gratuity on all check.

Yelp
Visiting Friends in Tampa and they took us to our 1st speakeasy, Madame Fortune's. As I understand it, speakeasy's came about during Prohibition for those who still wanted a taste or two of the then illegal spirits. The speakeasy was named after, Taylor Fortune , who was a former slave that became a landowner in Tampa. Considering the time, that is a most incredible feat. The restaurant is hidden behind a door in a bakery. You are e-mailed a password which you must give for entry. Once we entered and the doors were closed, the only light is from the the lighting inside. The environment is very cozy and mysterious. It can be romantic or just a fun outing for Friends. We were seated right away as R&B music played in the background. The menu is available using a QRS code on the table. I ordered the 1866 drink which was grape Vodka, plum sake, ginger liqueur and, egg whites and fresh lemon juice. The drink was a little sweet but flavorful and packed a punch. We ordered Sweet Potato Cornbread for the table that was melt in your mouth delicious(you have to know it will be always be the carbs for me!). I ordered the Shrimp and Curry Pasta and my Husband ordered the Braiaed Benny Burger. The waiter was very friendly and he kept checking back to see if we needed anything. The service was amazing. The food was just as good as we heard. The Shrimp and Curry pasta was flavorful and they did not skimp on the shrimp. My Husband is very particular about his meat. He said the Benny Burger was very good. I am intrigued by the hidden speakeasy. As I understand, there a few in the DMV area where I live. So the adventure starts to find more of them.

Yelp
This speakeasy is behind "Roast" in Ybor City. We were on a speakeasy tour, so we had to check this one out! Call ahead to get the password of the day and you'll get let in through a secret bookcase like a Bond villain. Shannelle was running the bar like a pro! She was so fun and helpful, offering recommendations on cocktails and where we should visit next down the strip. We were even given a free treat of a cinnamon roll because they accidentally made extra for a table. (By the way, DELICIOUS). I got the Plaisance Paradise, a rum and aperol cocktail that was equally as yummy as it was interesting. We also watched Shannelle make cocktail that lit on fire, one that came with a whole build-your-own hot cocoa platter, and several featuring unique ingredients like lychee. The vibe of this place is an adorable floral paradise, perfect for Insta-worthy photos. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough, and I hope for your sake you come on a night where Shannelle is behind the bar!

Yelp
Great ambiance and cute for girls get together. I will say service is a bit slow but overall highly recommend.
