My friend and I went over here for her birthday. The food was delicious. The burrito that we got so was great atmosphere was also really good and welcoming a lot of outdoor space with clean area highly recommend this place.

Google
This place surprised me with how good it was, I'm in love with the street style Brussel sprouts. The hibiscus margarita was delightful, and my husbands cocktail was yummy, too, lol. My husband and I both got al pastor wet burritos with Mole, and they did not disappoint. Half off burritos on Thursdays? Yas, please!!!

Google
Wow! I don't dine out often but I will definitely be coming back here. Such fresh, beautifully presented food and drink. All the staff were so on point and personable. Thank you Jorge for the flan! So classy. And my blackened fish taco was loaded with meat. We plan to come back for live music on the patio soon.

Ron F.

Google
Been here twice- and they did not disappoint- the staff is friendly and accommodating. The chips were crisp and salted lightly, the salsa was flavorful and not too spicy. The food was great, had flavor and everyone at our table was satisfied with what they ordered, no complaints.

Shelley F.

Google
Great service. Very attentive. We had the cantina rolls, Arroz con pollo, mahi mahi amd gacho pasta. Everything was full of flavor and delicious.

Google
My wife and I discovered this restaurant recently and were very pleased. From the art decor and design the restaurant is hands down a great spot to eat at and feel the elevated experience. The pricing is literally perfect. The food is great and the staff really really makes this spot a five star. We’ve eaten here twice since and each time we tried a new item and each time the waters/tresses have been top notch. Give it a try!

Google
Madero is amazing!! Super cool to find out the building has been around since 1899 - and this spot for over 15 years!! We loved their chips and salsa, queso fundido (cheese pull to the max!) and skinny margs to kick off our meal. We wound up getting the chicken fajitas and Birria taco, blackened fish taco, and fried avocado taco for our main. And WOAHH were we blown away!! These tacos were absolutely stuffed - highly recommend all 3, but it was great that the Birria taco came with a little cup of consome for dipping (or drenching, LOL). They have daily specials which you can check out on their website. Can't wait to come back for Brunch next time!

Google
I used to come here back when it was a bar club, but now it's a whole different vibe. Turns out, it's actually a great spot for Mexican food. We came here for Father’s Day, and honestly, everything was on point. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere—it all just worked. We had margaritas (of course), a gin cocktail, and a salad that really surprised me. It wasn’t spicy, but it had great flavor. Simple, fresh, and tasty. The place feels relaxed but still has that bit of energy that makes you want to stay awhile. If you get the chance, you should definitely check it out.

Yelp
Seriously had the BEST experience here on Saturday! It was my first time in and we came with a group of 7. They had lots of private-ish spaces that were perfect for friend groups like this. I have to give the biggest shout out to our waitress, Siena and the kitchen staff! One of my friends has a couple of severe food allergies and instead of saying there was nothing they could do- they found a way! Siena was so patient and so helpful and navigated this with so much professionalism while also being super sweet and fun with our group. All of our meals and drinks were DELICIOUS and we will for sure be back and refer it to others!

Yelp
Another stellar visit Madero! This place never disappoints. Fresh food and great service every time we visit. This time we ordered 3 tacos, the Asada we great as usual, but the star of the show was definitely the El pastor with tasty onions and pineapple inside...WOW! I ordered the Papa Loca, which is a giant baked potato loaded with all the fixings and also topped with layers of cheese and a heaping of deliciously seasoned beef Birra. And I would also like to note our server gave us some top notch,A+ customer service. I am so sorry but we forgot her name, but she was a tall pretty redhead. Extremely professional and attentive. Lastly, I would put their pre meal chips and salsa up against any restaurant in the area. Thank you again, we will be back.

Yelp
awesome vegan / veg options and drinks Server was attentive And it wasn't too packed for early evening on a Sunday.

Yelp
Ok I came here for the Brazil F1 race and oh my god 10/10 experience. We sat outside in their super cute decorated patio. They had some really good drinks and on top of that I think I transcended after taking a bite of their salsa. I got their breakfast bowl situation (sorryyyy don't remember the exact name) and i was so excited to find out they had soyrizo!!! a win for the vegetarians. The bowl was great and our server was so sweet and attentive too considering how busy it was from the f1 event. Can't wait to come back here if they hold another one!!

Yelp
It wasn't my plan to go clubbing this Saturday night but with the music blasting and the no cover charge I said why not and went in. It was early in the night, around 1030pm when I arrived. There are two entrances. One in the back ally which is the main one and one in the back which is off the main road. The back entrance which is by the main road (or at least it feels like it gives more main road energy) is closed after midnight I believe the bouncer said. He said it's the secret entrance as most people go to the alleyway. There's a dance floor surrounded by couches, an outdoor patio with a bar and picnic style benches, and the largest area which has a full length bar and multiple bartenders, booths, and a narrow path where people dance and mingle. Drinks were super affordable and strong. I paid 25 bucks for a tequila soda and whiskey meat. Prices had me feeling like it was 2003 again. The music for the two hours I was there was a mix of Pitbull, Lil Jon, reggaeton, and Karol G. It got about halfway packed by time I left. It was a good time. During the day it converts into a bar and brunch spot.

Yelp
Just came across this place by accident. I'm so happy I did. My husband and I wanted to try something new. Everything was so good. The service was excellent. We even got to watch some football in the patio area. The food is delicious, the serving sizes were enough to share and the prices were reasonable. Even though I don't live in the area I will be coming back. Maybe to try happy hour. Thanks to Jose our amazing waiter that gave us recommendations.
google avatar

Carissa H.

Yelp
Came back for happy hour with my dad and got some house margaritas for $8, great deal, great tasting margaritas! Their chips and salsa is great, flavorful and not too spicy at all, it's the best way to start the meal. Obviously I had to order the Enchiladas de mariscos with green sauce because they are THAT GOOD! Thanks for attentive service! Our waiter was great and very kind.
google avatar

Nick J.

Yelp
I had a wonderful time here food was good. Service was good. The only thing that I could point out was at some point I felt like we were alone like I ran out of chips and we had to ask for chips. We wanted salsa cause we ran out we asked for more other than that. Everything went well.
google avatar

Sofia A.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and had such a great experience! The food + drink quality is fantastic and the prices are very fair. The seasonal agua fresca was horchata (with free refills!) and the ceviche was super fresh!! The staff were also super friendly and lovely :)) Thank you for the great experience!

Yelp
We found ourselves back in Fullerton over the weekend to hit up the cigar lounge a few blocks away for the UFC fight and my boy's bday. We decided to grab dinner at Madero 1899 since the reviews were on point and also because it was so close that if anyone drank too much, no one had to drive to the cigar spot. *Also note that it took a while to park since there are a bunch of bars around. They have paid parking meter signs but the machines weren't working so you should be fine unless things change by the time you read this review* As we arrived, we let the host know that our reservation was at 7:30p but we were an hour early, however, it wasn't a problem. The host had the busboys clean a table and got us a seat right away, and it was cracking from there. The cantina is nice with an old school Mexico vibe and about four or five TVs above the bar area showing fights and sports. There was another section to the side that looked like they were hosting a private party (so the place is good for private events). Our server arrived (he was super cool) and took our order for drinks and food . Went with an al pastor, fish and steak taco. While my boys got enchiladas with rice and beans. I also ordered an orchata with D'usse cognac and they ordered an El Capitan. I'm not going to lie, my drink was good but I should have rocked with that El Capitan because them tropical flavors of pineapple, orange and rum was magic to my tastebuds. Every taco was on point and their guacamole was probably some of the best guac in my life! The reason for this was because I think they squeezed an extra few lemons in the mix making it juicyyyyyy! Anyway, we'll for sure be back since we are planning on hitting the cigar lounge a lot more often. Madero is the real deal! Shout out to our waiter! I wish I caught his name. I'll get it next time! If you're looking for some authentic Mexican cuisines and strong drinks with a dope vibe, check this spot out! OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

Yelp
What a great little find this restaurant is! Located in downtown Fullerton it's on the smaller side so having a reservation might be helpful. This particular day we got there so early so there was plenty of seating. Lucky for us it was also happy hour! I must say their happy hour is quite fantastic. Tonight I went with the lemon drop martini and then we split the happy hour nachos with added grilled chicken...It was plenty of food for two. My friend had one of their happy hour tacos, and I had a fish taco off the regular menu which still was only $8.00. I thought it was perfect. Both tacos were so big you didn't need two! If you're in Fullerton, I would say this is a great spot to stop!

Yelp
Went back and the food and drinks were so good. Sunday through Friday happy hour 2-6pm. Got the carnitas and kids quesadilla it was so good. The house margarita and Moscow mule was good.

Yelp
My boyfriend suggested coming here for happy hour, and we had a lovely time. The ambiance was amazing and very welcoming. Our bartender, Amber, was incredibly friendly and really completed the experience. We ordered the Cantina Rolls, Madero Burger, and Tres Street Tacos. Everything was fresh and packed with flavor. The prices were reasonable too. We'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
friend made reservation for her birthday dinner. Ambiance: this place is awesome for larger gatherings. I was in a party of 12, and there were a few other graduation dinner celebrations going on. Service: our waitress was incredibly nice and so friendly! She was so helpful and brought out flan for the bday girl. Food: The shrimp tacos were mind blowing. Like almost best I've ever had. The cabbage on it gives it such a nice refreshing crunch and the sweet mango salsa paired so well. They don't skimp. The shrimp ceviche was almost as delicious and sooo refreshing too with a lime kick! Mmmm. The carne asada fries don't disappoint but definitely hefty. Again, they don't skimp on portions. It was prettyyyy salty. They give complimentary chips and salsa which was nice! I definitely recommend this place if you want to celebrate something or just want a yummy bite before heading out for the night.

Yelp
We were in Fullerton (we rarely go out there) and my husband's friend recommended this place to us... We got there just in time; shortly before 2pm (they have lunch specials that end at 2pm). And bonus: Happy Hour started at 2pm. Gotta love a good "double dip"! ;-) I got the 2 taco plate and he got the chilaquiles. Both were excellent! It's been a while since we've tried a different Mexican restaurant that we really enjoyed. The lunch prices were pretty reasonable too. We would definitely go back!

Yelp
My 5 girlfriends and I had bunched the other day. Two of us had the bloody Mary, which were delicious. Then we each ordered our own dish. I ordered their steak and eggs. The eggs were perfect, the potatoes were very salty but I ate them anyway, and the steak, which was ordered medium rare, had a portion of it that was very rare, so I didn't eat it that part. One of my friends ordered the French toast. She said it was delicious. The other gals informed me that their dish was good. I think overall, this place offers tasty food. I was the anomaly with my brunch dish. I'm okay with it. I want to come back to try the French toast. Oh, by the way, the service was wonderful. Our server was very nice and very attentive. He made sure our water bottles were constantly renewed. I appreciated him so much. I'm going to check out the dinner menu to see what they have. I like their vibe and their food seem pretty good.

Yelp
Hosted a baby shower here and everything was great! Amber was our bartender and took great care of us! All the staff were very friendly and we had zero complaints! The food was great and outdoor patio area was a great place for our party.

Yelp
Have not been back in quite awhile. The food. The atmosphere is so cool and relaxing..makes for. Nice taco Tuesday and the bartender and service is excellent. Very attentive. Friendly and busy.. love watching the drinks being mixed. Love to try them all. But at least old age. Have to keep it mellow like sangria..and of course I always take food to go. Hate to cook..and take out like from modero taste 500 per cent better than my cooking..can't wait to go back

Yelp
A very cool Mexican restaurant with brick walls and long full bar. There's a large covered patio area where they'll have live entertainment on Sundays during brunch, and they have some big tables by the parking lot entrance for the large parties. The food and service is amazing. The manager even offered us a free appetizer for our group. On the weekend nights, this place comes alive with DJ's playing hip hop and reggaeton. And they always have a New Year's Eve party. It gets mad packed when the DJ's are spin'n. I love all of their Mexican fusion dishes with some including plantains. The enchiladas are made with a mole style sauce and my absolute favorite outside my own kitchen, but probably the best meal was the chorizo ravioli. In addition, the savory Birria tacos were amazing, but the filet mignon taco was just ok. They will have a rotating agua fresca flavor. This time it was horchata and it was superb! There's also a dragonfruit mojito in the non-alcoholic drink menu that was really good too. We were all pretty stuffed to get dessert, but definitely gotta make room for that next time!

Bhavna J.

Yelp
We had a birthday party for a friend there. We had delicious drinks (no alcohol) - enjoyed it. I like their enchiladas and Nachos with guacamole and jalapeño that's yummy The service was great!

Yelp
We decided to try this spot out in DTF which is close to where I live. Theres so many restaurants in DTF that I haven't tried. The ambiance felt a bit different to us & maybe it was more so the layout of the space. However, I will say that the booth was a nice size and it was comfortable in that sense. The menu has some great options and I went with the burrito bowl. It wasn't the best burrito bowl I've ever had but I will say the carne asada was flavorful and my food came out hot with heat! That's great! Everything was fresh. The pineapple Agua Fresca was super refreshing and delicious. The service was great - it appeared that all the staff were attentive and work as a team. That was quite evident in how our table was serviced. I would return to try some of their tacos.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Haven't been to this place for almost a year and wondered if the food was still good. The variety of appetizers as well as the seafood enchiladas with the accompanying black beans and rice were great! I happened to visit the restaurant during " Happy Hour" & was not disappointed with the choices of drinks available. As luck would have it, our server was Jillian, who accommodated us the last time here. She is fun but professional & attentive so you won't require anything during your meal. The atmosphere is dim and relaxing which is a plus when you converse during dinner. If you have never been , go ahead and enjoy yourselves & it won't empty your wallet.

Yelp
Great Food. You need a reservation unless you are getting take out. The kitchen and restrooms are spotless and the staff is top tier. Great with suggestions and the service has always been great. The mixed drinks are strong and yummy. Take a look at the dessert menu, not a bad choice there. On the main menu, you can get mushroom sub for any protein if you have a vegetarian in the group. My favorite is the Mole Chicken enchiladas, they are to die for! You will be happy with anything on the menu though. Love the dark interior and the art. a little loud, but great for a group of 4. an intent date night... Maybe, but maybe not. It depends of your date and how much talking you want to do. The parking sorry of sucks, especially on weekends. Large lot in the rear of the building, but you may still have to walk a ways.

Johnny G.

Yelp
Matt was fantastic and he's really good looking wow!! Good service and great hair but I did see some balding other then that really great
google avatar

Erica T.

Yelp
Amazing amazing street tacos and ambiance! Totally worth going during taco Tuesday, side orders will fill you up! Also amazing service and totally accommodating to allergies.
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Tacos were delicious. Especially the birria taco Service was impeccable! Our waitress, Seanna G, was legit. Made sure our waters were filled and that we were having a great time. She always checked in on us.

Yelp
Another great meal at Madero 1899! We got seated fast and sat out on the patio. The weather was awesome and the service was great! We started off with the shrimp ceviche. It was spectacular! I could have happily had just that! It was clean and fresh tasting. I followed it up with a fried shrimp taco. It was bursting with flavor, the batter was light and crisp. I can't wait to get back! Great food, great drinks, great service!
google avatar

Steven O.

Yelp
I wanted to take my girlfriend out for Happy Hour so I did just that and I landed up finding this restaurant on Yelp. It has strong reviews and I understand why, this restaurant slapped. It started with Amber the bartender, she was amazing at her job making us feel at home. I always appreciate that, we ordered some beers and some of their happy hour specials. We ordered the cantina rolls, the madero burger and the tres street tacos. Everything was so damn delicious and the prices were great. The restaurant itself is very roomy and welcoming. We will most definitely be going back.
google avatar

Daniele F.

Yelp
Went here with my friends tonight to celebrate my birthday and we had a blast. Sienna welcomed us in quickly and got our table started. We enjoyed fruity margaritas, chips and salsa, tacos, garlic fries, enchiladas, ceviche, and of course donuts and ice cream for dessert. Thank you Madero 1899.
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
The food was just ehhh The drinks took forever to come out and the place was empty... They ran out of margarita? And then subbed it for a mimosa flight? Which was eckk... The vibe is okay... nice private areas... would be cute for group get togethers.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Food here is very flavorful! We came for brunch and the food menu is simple but they have plenty of drink options. Margarita flight is enough to split between two and three people. Service was friendly but the attention to detail is a bit off (hopefully it was an off day) but we will be back to try again!
google avatar

Liz C.

Yelp
Great drinks, good food, and amazing service! We went on a Saturday evening and waited for a booth and had a drink at the bar. Skinny margaritas were good and our server, Jose, was great! I enjoyed green sauce chicken enchiladas and my husband had carne asada and would definitely recommend! Big restaurant with inside and outside patio and will definitely be back!
google avatar

Robyn B.

Yelp
Excellent service, beautiful ambiance. Our first time as we live in Long Beach and we're having an "adventure day" seeing where the day would take us. Found this restaurant on yelp and so happy we did! Hubby had the carnitas plate. The serving was huge. More carnitas than we have ever got in any other Mexican restaurant and the flavor was excellent. I got the carnitas wet burrito with green sauce which was equally delish. Chips and salsa were on point! Crispy warm chips. We will make the drive back for sure! Thank you Jorge for the cookie dessert which was amazing!
google avatar

Javier V.

Yelp
Amber and Clarissa took care of our party of 17. Great service and delicious food. Thank you everyone!
google avatar

Ivy H.

Yelp
So I initially did not know this is now Madero. I knew this location as Matador. But they really have reinvented the location. The food is delicious and it's family friendly. Very good margaritas and delicious food. The staff were friendly and attentive. Inside is spacious enough for large parties and they have a nice patio area with ample space to host large groups.
google avatar

Yelp
2015 tips - drinks here aren't very good - chips, salsa, and beans were pretty tasty.

Yelp
First time here & already obsessed Came for a girls night out and Madero 1899 really delivered! The food and drinks? Chef's kiss everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The vibes were on point too super cute ambiance with friendly staff that made us feel so welcome What really sealed it for me? They start dancing around 9:30 and it turns into a whole vibe! Like dinner + mini club? Yes please. Perfect for date night, birthdays, or chisme with your girls. Definitely coming back for more tacos, margaritas, and dancing !!!

Suzy F.

Yelp
I went here Tuesday for Taco Tuesday with my daughter. The restaurant has a very fun, upbeat vibe. The manager Jorge greeted us, hostess Cristal sat us and our server Stephanie was very nice and professional. Friendly smiles all around made us feel like family. The tacos were a great deal and very delicious. I recommend the taco Tuesday here.

Yelp
Came here in a Sunday and this place had live music in the bar area. It was fairly busy. We were seated right away and the service was great. Food was a good portion but it was just ok. The place is good to hangout and listen to live music. Will certainly return.

Yelp
Went in today to celebrate a family member birthday and the location is in a popular area in downtown Fullerton. Very nice inside and fast service. Food has always been pretty decent Mexican food. Been coming here for years!

Yelp
My husband and I had our wedding reception here, about 8 years ago. At the time, there was no option to book a private event. We asked that our party be seated at their patio. They couldn't guarantee to keep other customers from being seated at the patio, but surprisingly, the entire night no other customer outside of our party, was seated out on the patio. In the end, it really was a private event for our wedding party. The food was really good and the staff was attentive throughout the entire night. We had a large wedding party, and I just remember the staff treating everyone like VIP. The food was brought out right away and there were no issues with the orders. Everyone really had a great time, and being seated out in the patio made the event more intimate. The patio was lovely and had outdoor heaters. They did charge a corkage fee for the champagne my dad had purchased for everyone in our party. The staff knew exactly when to start pouring everyone's champagne for our wedding toast. It really was such a magical night and everyone had such a great time. Again, this was 8 years ago and so much has changed since then. My husband and I will definitely have to take a trip out to have dinner here again.

Yelp
First and foremost, the customer service here is AMAZING. From start to finish, everyone was so attentive and wonderful. We were celebrating my mom's birthday and none of us had never been here before, but I've been wanting to try it. It was SO hard to decide what to order, everything looked and sounded so delicious. And to top it all off, all of the food TASTED delicious as well. All of the dishes were plentiful and authentic tasting, fresh, and felt everything was made to order. The dragonslayer cocktail was perfectly made and also consisted of fresh ingredients. The mural on the entry wall was beautiful and inviting. We loved the entire meal and overall experience. Madero won us over and we will definitely be back again soon.

Yelp
A friend told me about this place. It was a little out of our way to go for tacos but we decided to go for happy hour On Sunday night. We sat outside When we found out they had a Live flamico band. The service was excellent and the street tacos were were very good. The nachos were huge. But what really made the night was the band. These guys were GOOD. The base player was amazing and I am pretty sure he was white. Most fun date my wife and I have had in a year.

Yelp
Went here for Sunday morning brunch to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic! The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. We started with the brussel sprouts which were seasoned and cooked perfectly. My wife and I both had the breakfast bowl, one with shredded beef and one with carne asada. Both were great portions for the price and the flavors of the peppers, guac, meat, eggs and potatoes meshed wonderfully. My daughter had the enchilladas, which she thoroughly enjoyed. My wife and daughter shared the mimosa flight with four different juices. Our server's name was Kayla, and she was friendly, attentive and gave suggestions as it was our first time there. The icing on the cake, was when they brought our daughter a churro/ice cream dessert with a candle for her birthday. What a great experience!!!

Yelp
Go for happy hour! Haven't seen well drinks for $5 in forever so excited to be back for that!! Chicken wings were the bomb!! You need to order those. Surprisingly those are better than their tacos Tacos were okay but chicken wings were truly amazing!

Yelp
Food has good flavors. Salsa was tasty with a spicy kick. Shrimp ceviche was yummy and only $12. Steak fajita was delicious but quite chewy. Portion size was good and very filling - it had a large amount of steak and also beans, rice and tortillas. Keep in mind that it was only $24, a very good price in today's inflated economy. Overall, food quality might not be the best but it makes sense for the price. You do get what you pay for, and there's nothing wrong with that. Service was great. Our waitress was super nice, friendly and very attentive. Ambiance has a fun and hip Mexican vibe with Dia De Los Muertos wall art. It's one of those restaurants that's part sports bar and part regular casual dining. I would come back. For the very reasonable price, it's totally worth going here.
