The baked goods here are incredible. I got a everything biscuit and it is dynamite. I also ordered a caramel oat milk latte. It's trash. They burnt the coffee. There's almost no foamed milk in it and I cannot taste the caramel for the life of me and I generally don't like my drink. Sweet. So I enjoy when there's not that much caramel and there's no caramel whatsoever.

Based on my experience, this spot is highly overrated. Firstly, the people who work here are unfriendly and rude, like everyone on the other side of their counter annoys them (aka the customer). So that sets an odd tone from the get. Note to mgmt: Please enroll the cashier/order-taker into a customer service course and teach her how to smile. A simple tweak in her attitude may go a long way. But when I pulled my sandwich from the bag, I was shocked - Grade school sandwiches are prepared with more care. What I noticed first was the cut. Not caring enough to cut it in half, the person cut it into 2/3 1/3 shares. Pretty sad. But it's the overall look and taste - not worth the cost whatsoever. And their sesame salad was ALL noodles and nearly nothing else: no carrots, onions, peanuts …nothing. And to add insult to injury- it tastes like bland, cold noodles, not what you’re hoping it’s going to taste like - Asian inspired flavor of some sort. What did I pay over $25 for? I get that locals to this spot may feel a sense of loyalty, but I was not impressed at all. Tossed out my remaining 1/3 sandwich and noodles. 🙄

Pretty cool shop with a variety of things for sale in addition to the food counter. I had a grill cheese sandwich with onion (came with chips) and an americano. About $20. Serving staff were friendly, but service was not very fast. Seating is outside under cover and heated. Clean but primitive.

Wish I had gotten a better picture of the pasties because they were excellent and this picture doesn’t do it Justice.The doughnuts were warm from the oven and delicious. The lemon poppyseed scone was so tasty and light. We had a lemonade and a cortado. I asked the barista how she made the cortado and she explained it to me and was very knowledgeable. Will be back again!

Lovely Saturday and we wanted to walk in Madison. Of course you need coffee right before that and we spontaneously stopped at Madison Kitchen! What a lovely find! I can highly recommend it. Their cookies and coffee are great! Very friendly staff and quick to order! You can even buy more delicious food inside. So everyone will find something here for sure. Great outdoor seating and heaters outside for more chilly days!

Cute neighborhood cafe with a full case of freshly baked goods to greet you when you walk through the door. No indoor seating, but they have a covered seating area with overhead space heaters outside, which was much appreciated on this near-freezing morning I visited. I ordered a 12 oz mocha and was pleased that it was not overly sweet or too piping hot to sip on as I enjoyed my strawberry scone. Unlike many scones I've had elsewhere, this one wasn't dense, but rather airy and moist on the inside. I loved that they used fresh strawberries, and the course sugar on top added a pleasantly sweet crunch to every bite. Prices were a bit steep (almost $10 for coffee and a pastry) but reasonable in light of inflation and the quality and portion size. And I much prefer supporting a local bakery than a large chain coffee shop.

What a cute place!!! Loved the inside and all it had to offer. The staff was super helpful and they have a rotating menu with items behind the glass to take home. They were quick with taking orders and their coffee was delicious. Would definitely come back if the opportunity presented itself.

Terrible service. They have basically taken over the sidewalk and parking spots to create more space for their bakery/store. They don't even allow you to stand inside their store while waiting and expect you to wait outside in the cold- very rude.

I was looking for an Italian Cream Cake - my mom used to make it for special occasions and this was the only place I could find one. But everything looked so good, I threw in a Carrot Cake for good measure. When I picked them up, we grabbed some yummy chocolate chip cookies that were still warm! (Can you see I have an impulse control issue?) Anyway... the cakes were AMAZING. I am sort of a cake connoisseur, I get around the Seattle cake community (ummm, A LOT) and MK's cakes are top tier, every bit as good as any I've had! I'm plotting my next visit, but when you end up buying TWO cakes every time, you sort of need to space out the visits a bit. Breakfast and lunch look amazing, as well as the Kouign Amans I've seen on Instagram. I wish I lived closer... but living further away helps with my impulse control!

I ordered the hot meat loaf sandwich, panini grilled like the good old days before that convection oven came along, garnished with tomato jam, cartelized onions, and provolone cheese, and served with a bag go Tim's Cascade potato chips. Yummy! I can't wait for my next visit. The service was friendly and smiling, the ambiance makes you want to return and explore. I highly recommend Madison Kitchen, in Madison Park, Seattle/U.S.A.

One of the best coffee shops in the area! I've traveled all over the country, this place makes you feel right at home. Very professional and could not ask for better service. First day I was here, Ali and Jess were working. These ladies make an awesome team among with the crew in the back. The one place on my trip I did not mind spending all my money. This place is the best way to start your day, all the food is made to order with fresh ingredients. If I ever win the lottery, I want to purchase this place. I was hooked on the cookies and the deli. My favorite place to grab lunch on a sunny day. Parking is plentiful, there's 6-7 outdoor tables outside to sit / eat and the wait to get your food is fairly quick! I highly suggest grabbing lunch here then making your way to Madison Park to sit and eat! I always get the Madison St. Special sandwich (reminds me of thanksgiving in a sandwich- Turkey, cranberry sauce, cheese, sliced apples and lettuce). When you get the sandwich whole, it will come with a bag of chips. There's also an option to get 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad or sides of your choice. There's a plethora of wonderful sides to choose from: beet salad, broccoli salad (with bacon and raisins), fruit salad, Asian sesame salad, curried chicken salad, roasted cauliflower & gemelli salad (MUST GET) etc. Always a hard choice to choose! Sandwich options are the same- so many options! Then there's soups, mac 'n cheese, quiche, lasagna, meatloaf, green goddess chicken. Am I overwhelming you yet? With so many food options, Madison Kitchen also sells goodies- tote bags, candles, soaps, fragrances, scarves and even little treasures that makes for great gifts! I highly recommend just trying this cafe for lunch! They close at 3pm typically so make sure you keep that in mind if you plan to come for late lunch!

My earlier review is still accurate. With really no competition in Madison Park, the service remains cold, rude, and depending on the day totally incompetent. They also seem to be doing you the customer a giant favor. Pouring a cup of drip coffee is such a chore. Making a latte is a hardship apparently. It's incredibly off-putting. Only a quick grin/intense stare when it's your turn to decide on a tip. The coffee and baked goods are good. Limited real food menu is fine. Still dealing with the folks behind the counter- ugh.

The people working there used to be truly amazing. They were charming and genuinely friendly. Now this place is staffed with condescending politeness. Where nobody knows your name. This place lucked out gaining business over the last several weeks because the local Starbucks was closed for renovations. You'd think they would have worked harder to keep up that business. I went in every.single.day and ordered the.exact.same.thing - never did they learn my name. There are only two people that work the register, neither one bothered to make a connection, give good customer service, nothing. What a shame. I am happy that Starbucks has reopened. They know my name there. Madison Kitchen - take notes from the big store competition you most likely despise, they are doing it better than you.

Used to really enjoy coming here and just don't anymore. Staff is all turned over, which happens. They were cordial but not how the previous team was. Never was crazy about dining all being forced outside. Too many dog owners that think everyone loves their animals as much as they do. Not the restaurant's fault but with no indoor dining, the only option is outside. Always running out of baked goods by 10:00. It's a pass now, I just opt for Starbucks.

I've been here twice so far. I've order the meatball sandwich, vanilla ice cream, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookie. Everything except for the oatmeal raisin was amazing! I've never been a fan of oatmeal raisin, so I can't knock the one they have. The team is also very welcoming, so I'll definitely recommend them whenever you visit the Madison Park area.

Freshly baked pastries every morning, and awesome coffee - Illy Cafe how can you go wrong, and a fantastic selection of salads and menu items that can be prepped like Mac and Cheese, and Meatloaf and so much more. Menu rotates and it never disappoints. Why get a day old pastry that was delivered the night before at that corporate coffee place when you could have fresh baked that morning pastry goodness here? Duh! It's a no brainer decision. There is a daily gluten free muffin option and sometimes a GF cookie option as well. Did I mention the made to order breakfast sandwiches? Awesome Unicorn flavor festival for your taste buds to start your day. 'Nuf said. This place is the real deal.

The food is good, but not great. I've got to tell you customer service is condescending politeness. The superiority complex of the owner and staff is sad. They don't listen. They apologize to get rid of you - but do not truly mean it. I just got off the phone with an employee, and while the conversation wasn't awful, I felt like she didn't have the power to go ahead and just say, I'm so sorry, let us replace those sandwiches the next time you come in. In the end that is what we agreed upon but I decided when I got off the phone I've had too many mistakes with things I've ordered and the lack of caring by whomever I talked with so I called back to talk to a manager. When I asked for a manager the person said, I can help you. That's it, no Hi, I'm the owner and I would love to talk with you. I started to tell her about my experience and about how I thought their customer service was, and she interrupted me, saying well I was listening in on that conversation and my employee did nothing wrong and her customer service was fine. Whether she thought that or not I AM THE CUSTOMER, and isn't the CUSTOMER the one you want to make happy? I already was getting my sandwiches replaced b/c of their mistakes, but I thought it would be the right thing to do to call back and talk to a manager to let them know how I felt after the fact. I was just trying to call back to give them some feedback for a customer who doesn't frequent their establishment daily but does frequent it multiple times a month. They don't know me by name and I do feel that their customer service is lacking. When a customer walks away for whatever reason and doesn't feel great about the experience it's a manager/owner's job to listen. I wasn't yelling, or using bad language at all. I was calmly trying to convey my experience and I just got talked over and interrupted and in the end a false apology. They are overpriced, and there isn't anywhere else in Madison Park so that is where you go. I wish someone else would come in and show them how it's supposed to be done. I will not spend money at this establishment. They just lost me as a customer. But frankly, I don't think they care.

Very disappointing. I ordered online. Got a confirmation. Waited in line 20 minutes to pick up my order and they said they never got my order. I showed them the ticket. Total wait time 45 minutes. They did not have my order and did not care that I had already waited 45 minutes for a breakfast sandwich that I paid for. Asked me if I wanted a pastry instead. The right thing to do would be to fix the sandwich that I ordered and not make me wait another 44. They did not offer to do that. I talked to the owner and he did not care. When I said that they needed to fix their online order system he would not respond. I was told I would be refunded later. But I never got a refund. I went back a second time to tell them I didn't get a refund or a sandwich. I paid for a sandwich that I never got. What a ripoff.

It is located across from Madison Park, the water, and convenient businesses nearby. I brought the kids to the park and decided to grab a few bites from here. Meatloaf Sandwich, Salmon Cake, Madison St Special, and a Carrot Cake were on our list of eats. It was decent, with clearly hardworking employees. 3 stars doesn't mean it's bad or not worth a visit. It's good here, and I'll be coming back.

Best thing I can say is staff was very friendly. I was in a hurry and apparently this place is very busy on the regular. I asked for the quickest meal option possible because I couldn't and didn't want to wait. The gal said a meatloaf sandwich and grabbed one for me. Paid $13 plus $2 tip, $15 total, grabbed my sandwich and quickly hurried out. Went back to the office to eat my "meatloaf" sandwich and opened up a roast beef sandwich. To me this place is overpriced and overrated. Sandwich was so so. Nothing special by any means. The high pricing is due to location in Madison Park. Really don't recommend.

I have been here a number of times and would have given the place a solid 3-stars, before, but given their adaptation to the current pandemic, I would drop the rating to 2-stars. First I want to state that the employees are all wonderful. Every time I have been they are kind, hard working and remember my name. The food is very expensive is a little bit hit and miss. Generally things are decent. I like the Reuben, which comes with a generous amount of meat. They have gluten-free options, which are always a plus. The frittata is decent but needs salt and is generally a little underwhelming. Would have been nice with feta or something to add a little tang and dimension. The quiche is absolutely not for me.... I've had it twice to make sure it wasn't a fluke (and also because of limited options). Both times there were a few bites of ham toward the bottom crust, but overall it was essentially just a heavy cream egg custard pie- almost inedible. I like rich foods but there needs to be some complexity or balance to something so heavy, and this had none. I would say it was the worst quiche I have ever had, which is a shame at their price point. And that brings me to the next subject- the cost. MK is located in an area where their clientele is predominately wealthy folks who don't worry about their checkbooks but it is almost blisteringly expensive for my tastes: a quiche, frittata and small salad was 35 bucks with tip. The salad was ok, impressively MK has managed to keep their bacon crispy even in a wet salad, although the salad itself was extremely sweet. The reason for two stars is due to a lack of ability to manage during the pandemic. We waited outside. Everyone was confused about what to do. Once we were able to go in and order we wound up waiting 30 minutes to get an extremely burned americano. The espresso is usually delicious here, so it was a great disappointment. I wound up throwing it out because I didn't have time to wait for another one. I'm glad they seem to be doing well, during these difficult times, but sadly I don't think I'll be back.

It isn't what it used to be before the pandemic. The wait time is stupid long, and there is no seating inside anymore, despite restaurants are now allowed to resume that feature. It's darn cold to eat outside on one of the bistro tables. The quality of food is dropping bit by bit for the last 18 months. We used to eat here three times a week or more. The breakfast sandwich was predictably the same, and super delicious. Lately, the bread has changed for the worse, and the quality of the cooking is dismal. Sometimes the whites are barely cooked and translucent, other times the egg yolk is so overcooked it doesn't move. We stopped coming for breakfast. After two months passed, we thought we try it again. Stopped for lunch today and got our usual Tri-Salad to share. The quantity is now HALF of what it used to be, but the price is the same. One Tri-salad, one tea, one cookie, one small fruit salad for $35, are you kidding me?? I left hungry. Starbucks is up the block so I'll start going there now.

Sweet little cafe worth dragging yourself out to Madison Park for. Right on the main street, the Madison Kitchen serves as a cozy new breakfast and lunch spot in this out of the way neighborhood. I'm always on the lookout for a weekday breakfast spot, and although simple and tending towards baked goods, it is officially worth a drive across town for their breakfast sandwich w/egg. Their bakers breakfast comes with a baked item of your choice, a enormous bowl of fresh fruit topped with a petite ice cream sized scoop of rich yogurt and a coffee. I went with a group who ordered this up in quantities, either getting it with some fresh baked scones or in one case, settling on a dark, delicious chocolate egg-white meringue. The black sheep always nails it, because that darn chocolate meringue was terrific and fresh, so much so that you might be willing to rewrite your breakfast rules to include it. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a very garlicky aioli and a perfectly cooked oozy medium egg. I almost drove back to get it the following day. It was good. This is a small, popular cafe, and the breakfast here is simple, but respectable and solid: breakfast sandwiches, homemade granola, fresh baked items and oatmeal. Seating is limited and service is not particularly speedy. When we first arrived, the lone server seemed overwhelmed by the influx of customers, but soon after the owner (or chef?) arrived and the hospitality was taken up a notch and proved attentive. Later visits for dessert sampling proved exceedingly tasty, we especially like the Naniamo bar and the shortbread bar with chocolate, tahini and pistachios. Feels like a neighborhood spot. Clearly inconsistent, given some of the other reviews, but we've been several times and had a consistently good experience.

My girlfriend and I were in the neighborhood and stopped by for a late lunch. The atmosphere is calming and comfortable. The food was delicious, I had the Reuben and butternut squash soup. My girlfriend had the beet salad and a vegetarian sandwich. We both though the meals were great and the service was above and beyond. We grabbed a blueberry scone and cinnamon roll on the way out the door. The shop keepers were so friendly and fun we thought that if we lived closer, this place would be a regular stop for us. Oh, the treats were homemade and tasted great too. We scarfed them down too fast and wish we would have enjoyed them slower.

I was looking for something new to try near Madison Park, and Madison Kitchen was one of the top choices on Yelp. Just want to say, I had a great first experience here! The cafe is kinda small though, so if you're planning to dine-in, you are gonna need some luck. I was lucky enough to get a seat right away. They can only seat up to probably about 16 people max (inside the store). They have a nice variety of sandwich selection, in which a lot of them seem pretty unique to me. I ended up ordering Bacon, BBQ-Pulled-Pork Sandwich and a 12 oz Mocha. The total price was around $15, which is pretty high for a sandwich and coffee. However, the sandwich was delicious and I got really full out of the meal. The two half-sandwiches were serving with lots of kettle corn chips in the middle. I tried to eat the whole thing, but I got so full so I had to take some home! The mocha was solid; nothing too special but it had nice flavor of chocolate-blended coffee; and I would prefer here over Starbucks so it's a yes from me. I also got treated very well by the cashier guy. He was being very polite and helpful about my order, showing me the portions of different sizes and giving me the Wi-Fi password. He eve served the foods to my table! On top of that, he came by to check if I needed anything else. So, yeah, he hit all the checklists for great customer service. Good job! If I ever get chance to come back to this place again, I want to try their other sandwiches. A few of them caught my eyes when I was looking around at other tables... As I said, the price might be a bit high and you have to compete for the seats, but I had such a great experience that I would love to come back here again.

Coming by the storefront, Madison Kitchen is a small bakery/deli store. The parking is limited to street parking and is always fairly crowded. The atmosphere is lively as well as the cleanliness and decorations all add to the great atmosphere. We ordered the peach scone, the bell pepper scone and the egg sandwhich. If you want savory, the bell pepper scone is a great choice. Its not too salty yet gives the perfect balance and blend of savory and spices. The peach scone was OK but nothing really to be stunned by. It had peaches and peacons and wasn't fabulous. The service was pretty good and very fast considering it was very busy. The server's were polite and gave good recomendations. I would love for them to have more breakfast choices as the choices were small. Good place overall recommended.

Food here is good. But I like a good cup of coffee with my scone or lunch and the coffee is terrible! They have never changed their coffee since opening. Quite a shame as I would enjoy sitting there to enjoy my breakfast or lunch. Time for a change!!! Please a local coffee roaster!

If I can I will give it 0 star. Bad customer service. And it comes from the OWNER too. Kids are not welcome here I guess. I was told to leave and they will pack my food because they can hear my kids screaming (high pitch) and There was a lady with bunch of kids and baby who scream too and they were OK. As if we can control how loud my kids scream. I can honestly say my kids wasn't screaming continuously, but I admit her voice is loud maybe few seconds and that wasn't Acceptable by the OWNER. and if kids can't be slightly louder then they should say so on the door and maybe a fine dining cafe (adults only) Will never be back here again. Regret giving my tips to such customer service. Thanks for your response and you did not refund my tips as promised so very dissapointed and I still disagree with your thoughts as I was with a friend who thought the same way as me. I consider myself responsible person and you could have approached me in a more professional manner if you feel that my daughter are nor behaving and she is not 4 yet so don't judge her age. I am glad I didn't dine with a disable kids which she could have been, that will make me embarrassed and feel really discriminated. Wonder if you "OWNER" will ask the me to leave if my child was not a normal kid. You should think about this

First of all, this review is about their customer service. This cafe is NOT kid friendly (I wonder why do they even have Kids Menu???). My friend and I were having lunch with our toddlers after a play at the beach park nearby. We were tired and starving for lunch. You know, kids like to make noises most of the times. Out of the blue, this guy (apparently the owner), came by to our table and told us that our kids were too noisy, and that he could pack our lunch for us, and then we could go (basically throwing us out). Are you freaking kidding me?? There wasn't even any patron who complained about our kids. And we were sitting next to a table also full of kids who made noises, and the owner didn't complain about it. Was it some kind of discrimination? I would give 0 star if I could! The food itself were good, pricey for a cafe-setting. I get it if it were a french cafe or something. But to me, it's like a fancier and much more expensive version of a deli. I liked their curry chicken salad, however, due to the owner's lack of humanity, we would never come back! Ever!

Cute little place tucked in Madison Park with affordable breakfast/lunch/brunch options. Service was quick and it is just a seat yourself type of place. The frittata was just so-so and sadly they had run out of the waffles! But the pulled pork sandwich was really good! They also have an awesome looking espresso machine that makes some fine coffee :)

One of my quick go to weekend brunch place in Madison Park. Great baked goods, delicious brunch plates, and great place to see some dogs walk by. Although has outdoor seating, there is not much indoor space. If it's too crowded inside during the winter, you might want to get your brunch and goodies to go.

The food was good, but the service was unfriendly. We hadn't been here before, we were looking for the menu, found them right by the cash register...as we stood there looking at the menu in our hand we were told that we were NOT in the line. We waited a fair amount of time for our grown up grilled cheese... and then it was plopped on our table...no "here you go", "hope you enjoy" or anything...the sandwich was delicious, the lunch experience not so much.

Love this place! It's a great lunch spot for warm weather, the iced mochas are delish and it has good takeout!! I love coming here with my friends then having a picnic at the park. My favorite food is their Caesar salad!!! The only critique I have is that since Covid, they haven't had any indoor seating:(:(:( this is an issue for me because as we go into fall and it gets colder I don't really want to sit outside so I don't go very often. This makes me sad because their food is so good. I really think they could benefit from indoor seating because it would draw in more customers!!!!!! How I heard of this place: A friend wanted to get together for a small bite before heading to a café or tea house to indulge in a sweet treat and a cup of warm-something on a rainy, grey, Seattle spring day. She suggested Madison Kitchen. Type of cuisine: A simple, yet very Seattle selection of breakfast sandwiches, paninis/grilled sandwiches and soups/salads and house-made pastries. Ambiance: Simple and sweet, the awning in front covering the minimalist patio space under the trees lining the sidewalk, nearly masking the floor-to-ceiling street-facing windows. Indoors, a cozy charm surrounds with the wooden accents and glass drop lighting. Limited seating is found throughout, along the right wall and at the entryway to allow space for those placing orders at the walk-up counter, alongside displays of salads, pastries and the coffee bar. What I ordered: Ready for a sweet treat on this dreary day, I couldn't pass up the bars they are known for, but had to sample more! I started with a chocolate chip cookie ($2) to eat at the establishment, while my friend and dining companion had a Salad Trio for lunch: including the roasted beets, faro salad, and broccoli slaw. To take away, I selected the S'mores bar ($3.25), and the Gluten-Free Chocolate Pecan Cookie ($3.25). Just before we left, my friend picked up an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie for her beau, and the Tahini-Pistachio Shortbread for us to nibble on as we ended our conversation and made our way out. What I loved: The abundance of chocolate chips in the cookie! The beauty of the large bars, and the creativity of the Tahini-Pistachio bar: the texture and flavor of halva, and flaky goodness of shortbread paired perfectly with soft dark chocolate and the crunch of pistachios. But my stand-out favorite was the Gluten Free Chocolate Pecan Cookie. Why I loved it: Simple elegance, a diverse crowd of neighbors, colleagues and people of all ages. Cost: Average ($2 - $5 per treat)

This place is fantastic for a weekend brunch we started off ordering a bottle of the Rose it was $11 cheaper than at the grocery store we were ecstatic ended up drinking two by the end. Ordered both the weekend hash and the chilaquiles DELICIOUS!!! Will be returning soon.

The meatloaf in my meatloaf sandwich was cold despite having pressed it in a panini grill. The cheese was melted, the bread was toasted yet the meatloaf was COLD! Cold meatloaf=GROSS! To *fix* it required nuking it in the microwave which rendered the bread now rubbery. My friends pulled pork sandwich was equally cold--the pork part. The bread was toasted but the pulled pork filling was cold. Once again, microwave oven to the rescue!! Viola!! Rubbery bread!! C'mon guys! Really?! Is this the really the best you can do? Since bread, cheese and meat clearly have different cooking times to reach a hot, cooked temperature, perhaps you heat the meat portion first and separately then assemble the warm meat together with the cheese and bread before toasting it all together on the panini grill. That way 100% of the sandwich arrives at the diners table 100% hot--not just the bread and cheese part.
