"Back when Uptown Atlanta was only known as Lindberg, this complex had a pretty lively night scene. Then things got stale. Now, Madre Selva is helping to return that spark with occasional DJs, snazzy cocktails, and great seafood-focused Peruvian dishes that'll make you want to work your way through the menu. It's a good thing this dimly lit space is built for lingering. Tight tables keep conversations close, so you can still hear each other talk over upbeat Latin mixes coming from the DJ booth. Patio sofas and heat lamps on the terrace make it easier to sink in and order another foamy pisco sour. Every table feels like a prime spot for date night or a ceviche-fueled social outing. And the small plates-heavy menu makes ordering in rounds feel like the move. The eight-option ceviche section (most of the seafood is flown in from Peru) is where you should start. We like the refreshing Ceviche Carretillero—the day’s catch with shrimp, a fiery rocoto leche de tigre, chunks of sweet potato, Peruvian corn, and a pile of crispy fried calamari, which give it a nice crunch. video credit: Jacinta Howard And while the ceviche lineup is strong, the half chicken deserves just as much attention. The roasted meat pulls apart effortlessly, and the smoky seasoning sinks into the meat. The cocktails are just as compelling, especially the Echoes of Chavín, which might just bring you "healing and good fortune" if you trust the menu description. Plus, it's worth pulling out your phone since the smooth tequila and kombucha drink is finished with a smoke gun that traps in sage aromatics (did the prophecy just fulfill itself?). After a couple of drinks and a few mythical recitations, even renaming Lindbergh “Uptown Atlanta” starts to make sense. Food Rundown photo credit: Jacinta Howard Ceviche Carretillero This ceviche is a standout order. The catch of the day (likely arriving by plane from Peru) is sliced thin and soaks in a pool of spicy, citrusy marinade. It's all mixed with shrimp, Peruvian corn, sweet potatoes, and a layer of crispy fried calamari, which adds a nice crunch. Salmon Carretillero The grilled salmon is smoky and is served with tasty pepper sauce and chimichurri. This small plate is light, delicious, and should be on your table. photo credit: Jacinta Howard Josper Romaine You might not notice at first, but this charred romaine salad comes out looking like a fish, so take a minute to appreciate it because it’ll be hard to stop the fork blitz after someone goes in for the first bite. It's refreshing and full of flavor with crunchy praline, charred seasoning, a vinaigrette, and herby chimichurri. Octopus Tiradito The grilled octopus is slightly chewy, so skip this one if you're a lukewarm octopus fan. Inferno Half Chicken Roasted over a Josper flame, this Peruvian chicken is smoky and tender. Good luck if you were hoping for leftovers. video credit: Jacinta Howard Echoes Of Chavin Pull out your phone when this smooth tequila, kombucha, and sage cocktail arrives. Your glass is filled with smoke, bringing a smoky and woodsy taste to the herbal notes." - Jacinta Howard

Underrated gem. The mixture of texture and flavors created a vibrant, tangy, and refreshing experience. The dishes felt unique in its presentation and composition and created a well-balanced taste. Also, the interior design of the restaurant incorporated natural shapes and elements that made it feel inviting , comfortable, and visually pleasing. One of the best Peruvian restaurants we've been to. We highly recommend this place.

Absolutely unbelievable food at Madre Selva last night! Everything we ate was delicious and the quantities were very generous. The ceviches are all very different to each other which is very hard to find. Usually they tend to be very one dimensional and indistinguishable from one another at other restaurants. The cocktails were delicious too. Great foodie experience. Atmosphere was great except the music was way too loud. Me and my husband couldn’t really have a conversation. Even the server couldn’t hear us. Some of the other tables were shouting to communicate and that added to the madness. This is a very new restaurant still trying to figure out some of those kinks, though! Had a great time. 10/10 food.

Madre Selva is very close to perfection. It’s a beautiful concept in the heart of Atlanta. I am obsessed with Peruvian food and I was pleasantly surprised by the traditional dishes with a twist. The service was phenomenal, the decoration is outstanding and the drinks are a piece of art. Not to mention, it’s strategically located right across from Tongue and Groove. I highly recommend you to visit this gem and enjoy the most delicious menu, the most creative cocktails you can find, and the city’s first Peruvian ceviche bar. 🥘🍹🇵🇪🤤

I couldn't wait to write this review from our dining experience on Sunday 2/9/25. We walked in and from the first hello to the warm towel to cleanse our hands the experience took us down a lovely road where all senses were captivated. We were taken down a historic and educational road explaining the origin and concept behind each dish. I have never had a dining experience that I wanted to try every dish. You will not be disappointed by choosing to go here for a treat to your taste buds and culinary lesson. Highly recommended.

Madre Selva is a true gem in Atlanta! If you’re looking for authentic Peruvian cuisine, this is the place to go. The seafood is unbelievably fresh and packed with flavor, and their creative cocktails are out of this world. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. I’m already planning my next trip to Atlanta just to dine here again. Absolutely 5 stars!

Very pleasurable experience at this restaurant. Highly recommend! The atmosphere was very fresh and tasteful. The clientele here was outstanding, diverse faces everywhere. If you go, you HAVE to get a ceviche dish. Any one of them. They were so fresh, flavorful, diverse and delicious. And the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, I highly recommend having a reservation because the restaurant is kinda small, not a whole lot of tables, so you may be waiting a while for a table. The only thing I didn't like was that we reserved our table for 4:00 and we were told that the next reservation for that table was for 5:30 so we would have to leave by then. I get it, money is important to run a restaurant business and we didn't linger, we left 5 mins before 5:30. But it was such a pleasant experience that we didn't want to leave that soon. We will definitely be returning though.

Excellent all around. What a gem. Hands down the best ceviche in the city. Interesting menu with unique takes on traditional dishes. The scallop and roasted romaine were personal favorites of the night. We thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere and a variety of cocktails - had made a last minute res, so sat at the bar - no bad choices for drinks. Service was thoughtful and attentive from everyone we encountered throughout the evening.
