"Low-key Spanish restaurant Madrid is done serving tapas at 1714 Connecticut Avenue NW but may resume sending out jamon serrano, garlicky shrimp, and sparkling cava in another part of the city in the coming months. A manager told Eater that the neighborhood eatery had closed in Dupont Circle in late January but said he was already scouting new locations. When asked whether the next generation restaurant would differ in terms of menu options, tone, or general atmosphere, the manager said it would be 'the same Madrid' — just with a different address. He did not offer a finite timeline for the relocation, but said his goal is to be back in business by mid-spring. A traditional Spanish restaurant, Madrid features all the greatest hits including patatas bravas, tortilla Espanola, ham and cheese croquettes, as well as cooked-to-order paellas featuring everything from darkly colored seafood medleys (lobster, scallops, mussels, and fish soaked in black squid ink) to seasonally inspired vegetable offerings and meaty chicken-chorizo creations." - Warren Rojas

If you go to their website and rsvp as well as rsvp by text they tell you it is "JUST $40". Once you get there it's $49. The food is terrible, they serve boxed macaroni and cheese, the eggs are powdered eggs. EVERYTHING we ate tasted old and recooked. The customer service is ABSOLUTELY terrible. When you ask questions as to why they advertise one price and charge differently later they make excuses. Also, the only way I knew it was more than advertised was AFTER THEY BROUGHT BY CARD AND RECEIPT TO ME to sign and it was an extra $18 for "tax and gratuity". I don't understand why there is gratuity when it's a buffet (you're basically serving yourself). I wouldn't even recommend this place to my enemies. That's how terrible of an experience I had. I ended up trying to drink $98 worth of endless mimosas 🙄🙄🙄🙄. If I could give negative stars I would. Please do it waste your money here!!!!!

Stopped in for brunch on Saturday. The music and ambiance were wonderful. Our server was very attentive - I never saw the bottom of my glass. The bloody Mary was STRONG but not overwhelming. Super cute upstairs with a a private bar that I've already reserved for a birthday. Curious what this place is like for dinner.

We had dinner here with our two kids (age 4 and 7) and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. My husband and I also enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Food and drinks were distinctive and delicious. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely go back. In fact, my kids loved it so much that they asked to go two nights in a row and they are anything but adventurous eaters!

If I could give this place less then one star I would all of their food comes out of bags and boxes already cooked and just warmed up. Advertises one price and then charges higher at the door! Plates are small they don't have all you can eat crab legs they bring you a quarter of a quarter of a cluster and thats it. Customer service was so horrible I wanted to kick the host. She sat at the front drinking a mimosa in a sundress and shades. I guarantee the cook isn't even Certified! I wouldn't recommend this place to the homeless and hungry!

Pretty expensive for what you get. The food was good, but small and expensive. We ordered 4 tapas, but they served us 5 and charged us for the one we didn't order. They also tried to sneak gratuity by us by saying they charged us a pre tip amount, but they had actually included gratuity. The black ink paella was good, but expensive at 40 dollars.

I went on a Tuesday night and had okay service. There were only two other tables when we sat down. They didn't bring us any water until we asked, they were out of chorizo and out bread. Which they failed to inform us of until we'd been waiting 10 minutes already for our food. That doesn't even make sense!? Food was okay and sangria needs to be better for a restaurant claiming to represent España! The only plus is that the waiter was flexible and gave us each a separate check and that's not the norm in DC.

Wish I could give less than one star. Food is definitely frozen and just put under a broiler or fried. Calamari was dry and over fried.. It for sure came out of a frozen box. Order pork medallions with bacon.. It was dry to the point it was either heated up twice or microwaved (again.. Out of the box). Within an hour of leaving the restaurant I felt sick and eventually the meal came back up. 😷 If you're looking for authentic, fresh tapas this is NOT the place.

I went with my parents and we had a wonderful time. The music was great and we felt like we were back in Spain. We had Paella Mixta and it was excellent. It was not dry or liquidy. It had the perfect consistency. Good paella is so hard to come by, so this place may be my new gem! Prior to the paella, we had patatas bravas, tortilla espagnola, pulpo gallena, and chorizo. ALL SO YUMMY! For dessert we had flan, chocolate souffle, and tres leches. Also, so yummy! Great wine selection! FYI, they have $3.50 sangria happy hour! The service was great. Everyone was very warm. Go here and your belly will be happy! I am looking forward to going back!
