Mae Khlong Hua Pla Mo Fai

"Simple in its design with a white pavilion and modest dining tables, the restaurant has a small garden with some outdoor seating. The owners are hands-on, preparing every dish with care. The stir-fried crab has a naturally sweet meat and wok-fried aroma, and is served with glass noodles, spicy chilli and crunchy mimosa. The large butterfly-cut river fish is nicely char-grilled. The grilled river prawns, meanwhile, are clearly the people’s favourite." - Michelin Inspector

The seafood at this place is really fresh. The must-try menu is Ithe river prawn, it’s one of the best I've ever tasted, way better than what I've had at other restaurants. It’s super delicious and not too salty. The squid is also quite large and fresh. However, I did visit during a busy lunchtime, and the way they manage the lines could use some improvement. I ended up waiting quite a while. I can’t wait to go back!

Wow! It takes 3 hours to wait and eat. I came here on Sunday at 12:30 PM and there was a 50+ queue and I was realized that is waste your time and not worth to waiting. Overall, the food tastes good, but I am quite disappointed with the colossal crab meat omelet (ไข่เจียวปูโครตใหญ่). It is made with a mix of chicken and duck eggs. So it was hard, dry texture especially the crab meat was not exceed my expectations, but I usually do not eat duck eggs. Additionally, the staff didn’t mention any food allergies before get the order. I would not say no to trying, but I wouldn’t recommend it. If the queue is shorter than it is now, just come.

Seafood galore. Especially crabs! Mostly local patrons. Very little English used but staff are still helpful and ready to translate their thoughts and suggestions on their mobile translators! Menus are in both English and Thai. Every crab dish we had was delicious. Prices are also reasonable. The place is crowded. And eager far from the city center. So go early!

Best Seafood restaurant in Bangkok!! You know the food is good when customer are mostly their own local Thailand people. The place is not easily accessible and yet Lunch crowd is pack full of people... no wonder it's deserve Michelin 2019 - 2025... A restaurant i will definitely go back again when visiting Bangkok in future!! **Fun Facts** - Don't let mixed review affect you. Try it and judge for yourself. We spend $4k+ THB and totally worth the money.

I had a fantastic dining experience at this Thai seafood restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic Thai flavors that truly stood out. What impressed me most was the freshness of the seafood—every dish tasted like it had just come from the sea. The ingredients were clearly high quality, and everything was prepared with great care. The restaurant itself was very clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall comfort of the meal. On top of that, the service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy fresh, flavorful Thai seafood in a welcoming atmosphere!

Overhyped and Underwhelming Honestly, the food was just average—nothing stood out despite the Michelin recommendation. The crab omelette was decent but slightly dry. Catfish roe, noodles, and fried rice were just okay. The real letdowns were the grouper in hot and sour soup, which tasted off and not fresh, and the grilled river prawns—clearly frozen, undercooked, and rubbery in texture. Two of my friends shared the same feedback. Disappointed overall. Definitely expected better quality for the price and reputation.

This was, without exaggeration, the worst restaurant I have ever been to — and the fact that it has been mentioned in the Michelin Guide for 6 years makes the experience even more shocking. The hype is completely undeserved, and the reality is chaos, dirt, and disappointment. There is no host stand, no hospitality, and no organization whatsoever. To even get in line, you have to walk through a fruit shop and find a messy whiteboard with a marker. That’s their “queue system.” No proper waiting area, no order, and just one person randomly calling names. They even have a microphone, but for some reason don’t use it — so customers are left in total confusion. I waited over an hour just to get a table, and then another hour for food. During that time, the place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. The floor under the tables and chairs was completely trashed — food scraps, napkins, and litter everywhere. It was uncomfortable, unhygienic, and honestly disgusting. The so-called queue kept getting shorter not because tables were moving, but because people simply gave up and left. Looking back, I wish I had too. When the food finally arrived, it was bland, carelessly prepared, and absolutely not worth the price. Dishes here are five times more expensive than normal, but taste like something from a cheap roadside stall — except without the charm, flavor, or friendliness. It’s nothing but a rip-off disguised under an old Michelin mention. In short: Mae Klong Hua Pla Mo Fai is chaotic, dirty, disorganized, overpriced, and overrated. The food is not special, the service is nonexistent, and the whole experience is a waste of time and money. If you value your sanity, skip this place — there are hundreds of better, cleaner, cheaper, and tastier restaurants in Thailand.
