Mag's Wine Kitchen

"Two things catch your attention when you set your foot in this long-standing household name – the small walk-in cellar, and the bustling open kitchen where chef-owner Mag commands the team. What it lacks in space, it more than makes up for in delicious food and an extensive wine selection. On the French and Italian-heavy menu, quality ingredients are shrewdly prepared into rich and flavourful courses, with clean and modern mise en place." - Michelin Inspector

Lunch set. Moderate pricing compared to other fine dining choices. Good options available for each course . Service professional and warm with a pleasant ambience. Been there several times and food is always consistently good although with some updates to the menu.

The place shifted to Keong Saik from circular road and has been around For ages. The kitchen is now helmed by a very young but exciting chef. The cuisine is modern French Japanese fusion. Try their tasting menu which is a reasonable $148++ which includes 5 courses. Trust me it’s filling. The sommen and abalone risotto was really well executed. Loved the sauce that came with the asparagus. Sour dough is provided for u to lap up the sauce. Wines are reasonable for pairing. Good place to Relak. Worth a return.

We had an amazing meal at Mag's and felt so welcomed from the moment we stepped in! All the dishes were exquisite and had an Asian touch and flair to it that made it so unique and special. Standouts were the steak tartare that was so refreshing, not at all gamey. The somen texture was amazing and the sauce coated every strand evenly. The crispy sakura ebi and soft sweet ebi tartare provided the perfect textual contrast to the chewy noodles. Our favourite was definitely the pan seared pearl grouper. The sauce that came with it was impeccable!! Extremely rich yet not fishy at all. We mopped up every bit of it. Thanks Mag and her team for making our date night so memorable 😊

Excellent service, food and atmosphere! Enjoyed each dish. Was really happy with the seafood theme that I had that night. They also gave me a free yuzu sorbet as a birthday dessert. Nice gesture!

The beef was cooked absolutely on point. I am not a lover of medium rare beef but my perspective had changed entirely. Scallops Ceviche was a absolute crowd pleaser. Fresh and a palette cleanser. The desert caps off the evening. It is so good that we had two portions. Strawberry was fresh and lightly tart. The sweetness level was precise and not overly sweet.

You enter through the kitchen which is an experience in itself. As a diner you feel you like you’re booked the chef”s table. It’s very interactive, casual yet attentive service. Food was sublime. The abalone somen was a perfect balance of tangy matched with perfectly poached abalone slices. The beef bone in rib eye was flavorful with the perfect char. I am normally not a fan of squid ink but this was the best I had and the lightly bread and deep fried octopus was delicious. Will come back and will tell all my friends about this. Glad to rediscover mag’s at Keong siak!

Dining at Mag’s Wine Kitchen was like being welcomed into the chef’s home. The ambiance is casual and intimate, with a warm, unpretentious vibe that makes you feel instantly at ease. The food is a perfect balance of classic French technique and local flavor, showcasing the chef’s creativity without being over the top. The dishes look deceptively simple but are packed with flavour. We were lucky enough to try a special dish—mussels in laksa broth—that was simply out of this world. The rich, fragrant broth paired perfectly with the delicate mussels, offering a unique twist on a beloved local favorite. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, yet approachable, and the service is attentive without being intrusive. If you’re looking for a place with heart, where you can enjoy beautifully executed food without the fuss, Mag’s is a must-visit. Can’t wait to go back!
