The 11 Best Miami Coffee Shops & Cafes

"Magdalena is an Edgewater coffee shop on a side street just off Biscayne. And not only is the coffee excellent, but the wifi is strong and the atmosphere is very conducive to clearing your inbox. You’re coming here primarily to consume caffeine and relax, but there are some pastry options from the wonderful Caracas Bakery—croissants, danishes, and (if you get there early) cachitos. This is the kind of neighborhood coffee shop that’s worth traveling to whether or not Edgewater is your neighborhood." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

I absolutely loved Magdalena! They offer a great selection of coffee (including pour over). I chose the iced V60 option and it was so aromatic and enjoyable. The place has a great eccentric playlist in the background. Easy to have a light conversation and still enjoy the groovy music. Staff is friendly, patient and eager to answer any questions. All the sweets and pastries looked to die for. Happy to have found this gem 🙏

😋😋😋😋😋 I've been a loyal fan of Magdalene Coffee in Wynwood since they opened, and it's consistently one of my favorite spots! Their coffee is always fantastic, brewed to perfection every time. You absolutely have to try their Danish pastries—they're incredibly delicious and taste so fresh. It's the perfect treat to go with your coffee. I also love their hours, open from 7 AM to 7 PM, which makes it easy to grab a great cup whenever you need it. And if that wasn't enough, they gift their clients with beautiful flowers, a truly lovely touch that makes every visit special. Plus, if you want to enjoy their amazing coffee at home, you can buy their beans and have them ground right there for you to take home. Magdalene Coffee truly stands out!

I don’t really know how living in this neighborhood for almost 3 years and been a coffee snob I didn’t find Magdalena Coffee earlier. I’m happy I made it here. I love the ambiance, decoration, all the natural light they have and more importantly the quality of the coffee. Their coffee is just how I love it, with acidity notes hitting in. I see this place becoming my go-to coffeeshop, and the place I bring friends who also like high quality coffee beans. Can’t wait to try their Americano.

Magdalena welcomed me with a perfect parking spot right in front and with friendly faces taking my order! I loved the vibe of the shop, the light that comes through and all the plants. Such a great atmosphere to work and eat. I had a vanilla latte which I enjoyed so much! Will be coming back to try more coffee and their delicious looking pastries and food options!

Google
One of my favorite spots for matcha! The lavender matcha is excellent. Their coffee is just as good. There is a selection of pastries that I highly recommend. Also, a small selection of plants and merchandise. There is some street parking and a small lot at the end of the block on a side street.

Google
Lattes, mocha and matcha, were delicious. Jasmine tea was soothing. The chicken and spinach empanadas had the perfect texture and crunch. Cheese danish was tasty. Only the croissant was cold and chewy. Atmosphere is chill and pretty good for work. Located at the center of the design district, it’s a good place to hang out and stop by.

Magdalena Coffee & Houseplants is a rare gem! Beyond the beautiful ambiance filled with greenery and great coffee, what truly stands out is the exceptional customer service. The owners are warm, attentive, and genuinely care about their guests, creating an atmosphere of kindness and community. You can feel their passion and values in every detail, from the thoughtfully crafted drinks to the inviting vibe. It’s more than just a cafe – it’s a place run by truly wonderful people. Highly recommend!

Google
A Miami coffee shop that’s actually worth the hype! Though small, the staff was very friendly and informative of their coffee. I appreciated the quality of not just the beans, but the grass fed milk too. The shaken espresso with agave was divine. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Ambience: 5 stars. Vibe: Soothing. Service: 5 stars. Prompt, attentive (when you order, as well as at cleanup). Coffee: 5 stars. Well made, presented nicely. Basque Cheesecake: 10 out of 5 stars! Right level of sweetness where you can taste several other nuanced flavors , incredible textures, beautifully presented along with just-right cutlery, and the portion is large enough for two people to enjoy and be very satiated. Or, 3 people can enjoy, and be left wanting more. I ended up sharing stories about the cheesecake with several colleagues, and almost walked 20 mins in a drizzle for seconds!

Yelp
Such a cute coffee and plant shop located in Edgewater. We found street parking nearby and walked there. It's a nice hole in the wall spot with seating to enjoy your latte and pastries. The staff is super nice and patient while you decide which one of the mouth watering treats you want to enjoy. The ham and cheese croissant was delicious. The croissant is slightly sweet and the ham and cheese compliments it well. The tequeños with cilantro sauce is great too. Nice little treat. Now my favorite was the guava croissant. Nice flaky croissant with a guava middle and when you get to the middle you find yourself a nice surprise, it's stuffed with cheese. The iced latte was top tier. Nice bitterness to the coffee with a delicious oat milk and vanilla syrup (my particular order). Highly recommend this spot for coffee, pastries, and vibes.

Yelp
The coffee here was fantastic. The pastries are average & the match was not great quality. The matcha did not taste as it was good quality.

Yelp
Tried their cappuccino, it's good Great service street parking available nearby..........

Yelp
My son and I were visiting from Alaska and decided to check out this coffee shop. The staff and owner, Andres, were warm, friendly, and attentive. Our coffees and croissants were fantastic. We will definitely return the next time we are in Miami.

Yelp
For some reason the pictures make it seem like it is much bigger inside, lol. It's crowded inside and the seatings are super close to one another. I loved the plants inside and the color of the walls and coffee machine. Matcha coconut water - very refreshing and perfect for the environment. Cold brew - I wish they had an iced coffee but the cold brew was as expected Spinach and Onion Empanada - this was incredible, it didn't have too much dough and the filling was well-seasoned and creamy Pistachio croissant - my friend tried 5-6 pistachio croissants over the weekend and said this one was her favorite!

Yelp
First stop when I touchdown in Miami was coffee. I was looking for something that was both craft and Latinx, enter Magdalena. Inside the café, there was beautiful and simple decor, the highlight was an art piece in the form of window poetry and a mirror about pride and life. The empanada and ham and cheese croissant I got were simple enough but well done. The Shaken espresso was exactly what I needed, all the caffeine minus the syrups of a flavored latte. The vibe was chill and the internet was fast. The team members were engaged with the community which SHOULD be the gold standard! Overall really pleased with this cafe near the water!
google avatar

Yelp
- This place is buzzing on the weekends!! - They have a water dispenser and treats for dogs - I really enjoyed the matcha latte and the basque cheesecake - The cheesecake is actually from another vendor

Yelp
Such a cute coffee spot! It's a bit small, but there's definitely enough space to sit and enjoy your coffee. The aesthetic is minimalistic, giving the place a cozy vibe. Service was fast and efficient--order at the counter, and everything came out quickly. One downside is that the gratuity was set at fixed percentages (15%, 18%, 20%) or no tip at all--no option to customize your tip. It felt like they were kind of forcing you to leave a tip, which was a bit awkward. That said, the drinks and food were fantastic. I had a lavender cappuccino, an espresso flight, a ham and cheese croissant, and a dulce de leche pastry. Everything was delicious! The espresso is strong and flavorful, which I loved. Definitely a great spot for a coffee break.

Yelp
So delicious, amazing vibes, and awesome service. This place is great for a Friday pick me up when the flowers are free for grab. Everything is delicious, there is a neighborhood feel, and my productivity here is insane. I love their iced cappuccinos and matchas, the cachito, and anything croissant based but the almond is insane.

Yelp
I came to this tiny coffee shop on a Sunday morning. The parking was a little tricky - I had to drive up and down the street a few times. But once I found parking, sat down a had a croissant - omg. Que. Rico. They toast it/warm it up before they serve it to you and it was perfection. I am dying to go back and try their other baked goods. The coffee was good too, but that croissant - wow!

Yelp
$8 pour over. $8 banana bread. Cute location, but they didn't seem to really have a ton of house plants for sale (that I saw). They were selling a pizza cutter and other stuff though. I was expecting more tbh. Good selection of coffee. I felt the beans of high quality but not my favorite flavor. Basic pastry spread. No full breakfast type options. Service was friendly. Order took its time to come out. I took mine to go. Good packaging, but pricey for to go in my opinion. I was about to drop a three star, but the banana bread was so outstanding I'm rounding it up to a four. I would return for this alone.

Yelp
Came here twice, the first time was around noon on a Saturday, the pastries were super fresh, the service was crappy though. The second time I came at night, like one hour before closing, the food was stale/old but the service was amazing. Summary: come early so you can get the freshest pastries, if you go before closing, they will be stale.

Yelp
I come here often it's friends and they LOVE the coffee but somehow it is just not for me. The taste is very different from the other competing coffee shops however I do believe what may not be my cup of coffee could be for others! It is worth going and checking out as the ambiance is beautiful. An iced matcha with vanilla will work for me as my friends continue with their coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
popped in right before they closed. what an amazing place! super cute! super welcoming! excellent staff! delicious coffeee!!!!! highly recommended if you are in the area!!

Yelp
I'm trying new coffee places by me, I tried this place for the very first time. I love the matcha! The service was very nice. Super cute coffee place. The croissants are huge.

Yelp
Magdalena Coffee is hands down my favorite coffee shop in Miami! I happily drive half an hour just to enjoy their rich, flavorful coffee and incredible pastries. What makes this place even more special is their commitment to sourcing from local vendors you can truly taste the quality in everything they serve. I just tried their protein shake, and wow!!!! it instantly took me back to my favorite smoothie in Medellín! The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and dedication to great ingredients make this spot a must-visit. I absolutely love this place!

Yelp
It's really hard to come across coffee shops in Miami for some reason, but I recently found this one and it was exactly what I was seeking! We bought a bag of their beans to enjoy at home and it's been great. Top notch! The spot is cute on a side street within Edgewater and the workers are knowledgeable.

Yelp
Read of a new coffee shop in the midtown/Edgewater area and so glad I came to check it out! Parking can be tricky but you're likely to find street parking close by (or a few blocks away). This coffee shop is awesome! Great aesthetic and even better coffee. I ordered an iced latte and a palmerita. The iced latte was top notch. Great espresso flavor. The palmerita had an odd taste so didn't eat it but still got to appreciate what a cool spot this is. Staff is kind, with great customer service. They have plants, cute gifts, and sell their awesome espresso. There's a couple of tables and some bar seating. They may drink options + pastries. Can't wait to come back again soon!

Marharyta K.

Yelp
First timer here, and the quality of the coffee was amazing. The cortado and iced latte were absolute perfection. The salmon croissant surprised me because I've never tried a croissant in which salmon was baked inside a croissant with cream cheese - unexpected but oh-so-good. The dough itself was soft and flaky, with beautiful layers and a crispy outside. And the Basque cheesecake? Divine. The texture was perfect - soft and creamy in the middle with a slightly burnt top. The balanced sweetness gives you an opportunity to fully feel the vanilla and taste of cream cheese without being distracted by the crust. Chocolate and almond croissants flirting with me from the display - next visit's must-tries. The lineup of savory pastries looked tempting as well. The space is so cozy - perfect spot to unwind, savor every sip, and get lost in the layers of those croissants.

Yelp
I love this neighborhood coffee shop! I am so grateful for this place. They have the best matcha, the almost delicious pastries (collab with Caracas Bakery), the vibes are always on point, great music, lighting, plants!
google avatar

Samreen R.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the ambiance here! It's filled with plants and has a relaxing coastal vibe. The drinks and pastries are pricey, but they are tasty. I got the cappuccino- I enjoyed it while doing some work at the bar. The baristas are super friendly and offer great recommendations. The shop is also dog-friendly and has street parking right outside if you get lucky. I'd say I've had tastier coffee for a better price, but the ambiance makes up for it. Overall, I would add Magdalena as part of the coffee shops I'd visit in Edgewater for its ambiance. Worth checking out!

Yelp
Best Coffee of 2024 ⁉ Tucked away in a building close to the busy Biscayne Blvd you'll find Magdalena. The aesthetic in this place is beautiful. The greenery truly brings life to the store, coupled with the wooden touches, everything about this place screams life. Then your eyes catch a glimpse of what's behind their display case: @Caracas Goods. Wow. Without a question, we know that Caracas exudes quality pastries. Now... what we came for... Coffee I won't pretend to be a coffee expert. It's very seldom that I can tell the difference between a roast, however, Magdalena's Espresso Flight was the exception. The flight included 2 different espresso shots: OBATA / LEMPIRA and PARAINEMA. One of which was undoubtedly sweeter than the other. We also had the Nitro, which unlike many nitros it was smooth and did not leave us with the jittery feeling afterwards. I can't wait to come back and become a regular Espresso Flight - $6 Nitro - $6 Cachito - $6 Croissant - $6

Yelp
Amazing pourover. A bit expensive but kinda worth it. However, at noon it gets pretty crowded

Jenny L.

Yelp
Food was so tasty, I had the turkey and chz croissant. To drink a iced latte. The service was very friendly & welcoming, as for the ambiance it was so relaxing. I lived the garden like vibes to it
google avatar

Yelp
Cute lil coffee shop. Love the vibes, the music is low and relaxing you can definitely work, read or study here( free wifi) . Coffee is yummy food is tasty, the pastries are good, i had the chicken pastry and it was delish. The pastry cream danish was too hard and the sweet lady changed it for a hazelnut croissant ( still too crunchy for a pastry) i think they get over baked when reheated therefore they get hard quickly. I wish there were more salty options for lunch. Overall very nice spot!
google avatar

Raul J.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop, but good luck finding street parking. I went with my friend, she ordered an iced coffee and I ordered a chai with a palmerita pastry. The drinks were okay, but we enjoyed the pastry. The staff were pretty friendly.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
New coffee shop in the city. I tried coming once before but it was pretty busy. There weren't seats available but it doesn't fit many people to begin with. I'm glad I got to sit down and try the coffee second time around. I was able to read a book and enjoy an iced latte but I don't find the value of the coffee to be worth it for just an iced latte. I will say the place is very quiet and great to get work done. Most coffee shops are noisy in the area so it's in a nice quiet area.
google avatar

Cristina T.

Yelp
A TOP VISIT for us. The aesthetics, the plants and flowers, the COFFEE then service. 10/10 and highly recommended this spot in Miami is serving good vibes. They serve Fincas Coffee which is another favorite in Miami. The pastries are baked locally and so special. The coffee is poured with precision but tastes so so good. We also tried matcha which is a newer item for us
google avatar

Jazmin R.

Yelp
New cute coffee shop in Edgewater! Love the indoor plant concept, it gives the coffee shop a lively & earthy ambiance. Very cute. I tried a delicious cappuccino & a cachito. I recommend this spot also if you need to get some work done + pet friendly!
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
I was visiting Miami and looking for something other than chain coffee shops. Stumbled upon this location and spent some time in there enjoying the coffee and breakfast croissant sandwich. The baristas were all super friendly. Magdalena has a really pretty interior and the wifi was pretty good!
google avatar

Chris U.

Yelp
Cute place. Warm, welcoming ambiance, just a nudge of the hustle and bustle of Biscayne Blvd. My first visit was a quick one. I ordered a cold brew, which I found to be very tasty. I did, however, think that the size of the serving could have been a bit larger for the value, but the quality was good. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. I will certainly consider adding this to my regular coffee rotation in the Edgewater/Wynwood area.
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
You NEED to stop by this amazing, quaint, little place! It's definitely worth the effort to come by. In a inconspicuous spot, but no doubt you will be glad you came by. Everything was amazing!
google avatar

Hannah E.

Yelp
Came here to check out a new coffee place and I was not disappointed. The coffee is amazing, really nice flavor not bitter at all with nice notes of nut and chocolate. Ambiance is nice for studying and working quietly. Big windows bring a lot of natural light in the shop making it feel bright and welcoming. Staff is friendly and educational on the coffee. Coffee is from their own coffee farms adding to a speciality flair. Pastries are outsourced from Caracas, we only tried one it wasn't our jam but would try other options next time.
google avatar

Mizlizz L.

Yelp
Cute Cafe on Edgewater. I just went for a croissant & matcha. Ordered the almond croissant which was really good, nice crunch not too sweet and good amount of almond frangipane. The matcha was good just a little weak I always make sure it's real matcha and has no sugar. I asked what brand but the lady at the counter did not know. It was good but like I said just need a little more flavor, she was nice enough to add a little more matcha which tasted a lot better.
google avatar

Agatha R.

Yelp
I think it is the best coffee place in Miami. I found it with the help of yelp, and it was really good. Nice cosy place, very friendly atmosphere and the most important is coffee it was excellent.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
I love this little coffee shop. You can tell that the owners pour their hearts and souls into this precious business. The music is clearly curated for a relaxing experience, the coffee and tea options are delicious and the plants add a lovely level of calmness to the environment. The baristas know how to make a proper latte! I highly recommend this aesthetically beautiful coffee shop!

Kara P.

Yelp
Cute place. Croissant was chewy and not good. Coffee was pretty good but also nothing special. I wouldn't come back here personally, but it's not a bad spot if you're nearby.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Small, but adorable! I love having this coffee shop in the neighborhood, it's a great addition. Super kind staff and great coffee selections. They have some pastries and I recommend the Tequenos!! They have plants and overall it's a great place to chill and have a coffee and a pastry.
google avatar

Marina K.

Yelp
A large latte is $8+ with sub milk. If you get a large you don't get more espresso you get more milk that you already paid $1 more for in the first basically $3 for more milk. I'm sure they will revisit their menu after this review. I will not be going back!
google avatar

George F.

Yelp
Magdalena has the best coffee (no bitterness, perfect roast) in the whole Midtown-Edgewater area, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I have tried the banana bread and the carrot bread. Both were terrific. It also is a good choice for bringing a laptop and getting work done. The houseplants make the interior restful for the eyes as well. You simply can't go wrong. The only downside is that the place is small, and I worry it will become too popular. Sigh.
google avatar

Ravenn S.

Yelp
I visited Magdalena on my short trip to Miami last week and it was easily one of my favorite experiences I had while in town. The aesthetics are precious and the music was good. The staff was extremely friendly and very informative and eager to talk to me about the beans the use & pastry they sell. I ordered a cortado & carrot cake as well as Hatsu tea for home (i was so excited to see a hatsu they don't sell them in Atlanta and the last time I had one was in Colombia). The cortado was smooth and silky, the perfect afternoon treat. Although I live far away I will return one day !!!
google avatar

Lissa B.

Yelp
Such a cute spot; the interior is very homey, bright, using real plants and blooming peonies on the counters as decor. The barista was super helpful and informative. I asked for a mocha and she let me know ahead of time it wasn't sweetened because they use 100% cacao and recommended to add agave. Her recommendation was delicious! The chocolate croissant was crunchy, flaky, and filled, perfect proportion of chocolate and dough. I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Got a breville recently, been looking around miami for the most delicious beans. This is my #1. Never using sugar again, legit the most delicious coffee I've ever had, every morning at home. Going back for my 3rd bag of beans this week.
google avatar

Brandy G.

Yelp
Great coffee and friendly staff. Simple decor with plants inside that make it a nice place to meet up with friends or to do some work.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Magdalena is a fantastic coffee shop with great coffee, friendly staff, and even better owners who take time out of their day to make their customers feel special. Natalia and her Husband do an amazing job in creating a safe space for everyone in the neighborhood. Their pastries were fresh and delicious. The coffee was fresh and unique. The flowers provided were beautiful and fresh. I cannot speak more highly of this place and I will definitely be back and recommend to anyone who is a local or visiting for the first time. It's a must try if you haven't gone already.

Holly M.

Yelp
The coffee shop edgewater needs!! Some of the best coffee I have had in Miami! All of their coffee is ethically sourced and they have a beautiful decor filled with live plants!! The owners/staff are so sweet and have really made an amazing spot!! 11/10 recommend!!
