Magnolia Bakery Is Making Weed Edibles Now - Eater NY

"Magnolia Bakery is collaborating with Green Thumb Industries to sell THC-based desserts in flavors like banana pudding and red velvet cake. These edibles are available in dispensaries in Illinois, Nevada, and Massachusetts." - Emma Orlow

"They’re obviously famous for their cupcakes, but Magnolia also puts that amazing buttercream to good use on wedding cakes. Their bakers are especially adept at creating beautiful textures on their layered cakes, creating soft, flower petal effects and even taking on the challenge of ombré frosting. In addition to the New York original, they now have locations in Chicago and Los Angeles."

Good variety of yummy pastries and desserts. Ordered the seasonal strawberry matcha, not very good tasted kinda gritty and didn’t have much strawberry. Staff was nice and friendly. Banana pudding was a bit too sweet but definitely worth trying.

Absolutely loved the banana pudding—definitely lives up to the hype! There was a line (especially on a weekend), but it moved quickly. The pudding itself isn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated, and it’s so light and airy that it doesn’t feel heavy at all. Seating is limited compared to the crowd, so plan to grab and go if it’s busy. Totally worth it though!

I had a coffee and a banana pudding , which were both delicious. However, I noticed that the cleanliness in the restrooms was lacking. It’s a shame because everything else was great, but the bathrooms definitely need more attention to cleanliness. 🇺🇸

I enjoyed the pudding. It was delicious and the coffee was good as well. I would highly recommend giving this a try is you want a snack. It is in a mall and is a close spot to downtown if you are in the loop and want a place to go.

We were there for some special treats for a big concert in town and OMG that banana pudding was FIRE. The rest of the baked goods looked amazing, and according to my friends who enjoyed them, tasted great as well. My only complaint would be the size of the space - not a ton of options for sitting and enjoying your treats "in-house".

I understand this is a chain but I am die hard loyal to Magnolia’s Bakery’s banana pudding. Their other desserts are also great such as a the mini cheesecakes. Out of the “American” bakery spots (not French, Asian, Polish, etc) in Chicago I must say I do frequent this one quite a bit

I had the classic banana pudding, and my friend had the cold brew banana pudding. They were both really good. Service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was nice, and I enjoyed the outdoor seating. The one comment I would add though is that the banana pudding is simple and just tastes like it was made from nilla wafers, whipped cream, pudding mix, and sliced bananas. This isn't a bad thing because it was still so delicious! But if you are expecting something really unique you might be disappointed.

Stopped in for a quick dessert. The banana pudding was delicious! I assume they’re busy, but it was a bit messy. Trash in floor, tables had some gunk on them.

Yelp
This place was yummy!! This is what I want to call a cupcake place. They are making the cupcakes in front of you super fresh. Upon entry place is super inviting with chairs where you can sit and enjoy your nice cupcake. Big variety of cupcakes and delightful place to be. Not very sweet which is nice and enjoyable. Staff is nice while they serve you. I did not notice a lavatory so not sure of they have one or not. This is one Bakery you want to visit as you would difinetly enjoy.

Yelp
Doesn't look as cute on the outside than it does on the inside. Super cute interior! The walls are painted Tiffany blue and the decorations are so pleasing! The bakery was also spectacular! The employees were so nice and helpful giving input on what they liked! There is street parking available as well as busses that come near it. Will definitely go back to get another cupcake and try out the other delicious bakery items!

Yelp
I am so conflicted because their pudding and their cheesecakes are so amazing but this is some terrible, terrible customer service. I've been here 3 times with a coworker because we designated the third Friday of every month to be the day we go and get stuff for us and our significant others. The end result is excellent. I absolutely love what I end up with, and it's a great treat once a month even though it's pricey. This location absolutely sucks. They have a terrible, inefficient way to order and the staff here are the grumpiest people I've ever met. In the 3 times I've been here, it's been a different way to order. Do I tell the barista what I want? Or do I wait until the end? I actively despise this entire location so that should say a lot about how good their pastries are.

Yelp
So we came here because my boyfriend loves the banana pudding! The banana pudding is pretty good and they give it to you in a container with a pretty generous amount! My boyfriend hates bananas, but loves this banana pudding! Strongly suggest it! However, I am a lover of cheesecake and red velvet so when I came across their "red velvet cheesecake" I was delirious! I ended up buying this and it was amazing! Literally, one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had! We came here late in the afternoon, but the red velvet cheesecake was very fresh! It is pretty big, big enough to share with two people! My cousin ordered a slice of strawberry cake which she did not like because it was very dry. She went back to the counter and explained how she felt. They were very nice about it and allowed her to choose something else for free! No hassle! Will definitely come back!

Yelp
The baked goods looked simple yet very mindfully executed. We ordered the banana pudding and a banana pie. The pudding was creamy, the custard dense, the cake moist with a subtle banana flavor. It is satisfying but not overpowering. The banana cream pie is good to indulge by one, but enough to share. The whipped cream topping tasted dense and smooth. The best part has to be the buttery crust that has hints of caramelization from the sugar and fat. None of the desserts we ordered tasted too sweet, and surprisingly, nothing tastes heavy either. However, we all know desserts are nothing good for you, but everything good to you! Yum! I cannot wait to return and try other baked goods at Magnolia Bakery!

Yelp
It lives up to the hype! A great atmosphere and amazing desserts, the best part is you can see the staff making the desserts in the back through the glass! We tried their famous banana pudding and we're nothing but amazed. The best part were the banana and vanilla wafer chunks in every bite! We also tried their hummingbird cake that had lots of pecans, pineapple, coconut, and cream cheese frosting!! The cake was perfectly done as someone who loves this type of cake, I would give it a 10/10! They had so many other great things we would have tried if we had more room, but we had a great experience and will definitely be back.

Yelp
Magnolia is nice to look at and be in but the bakery items don't match the prices. Cupcakes=dry, cakes=dry, cookies=not tasty, mini cheesecakes=decent. Unsure if this is the company standard but it's certainly the recurring experience at the State St location. Blend the above with resentful/indifferent service and you have a typical chain location placed in Chicago that's not ready for prime time.

Yelp
I want to say that this is probably one of the cutest places and if you are only concerned with how things look and not how they taste, definitely go. BUT, if you care about how things taste, especially when you pay $4.50-$6.00 for a slice of cake, like I do, then don't go. I have gone before and had a terribly dry slice of pistachio cake. The icing didn't help make the cake any better and I ended up tossing it. I decided yesterday to give them another try thinking my first experience could be a fluke but I was wrong. I tried the vanilla buttercream cake. The cake was so dry it fell apart when I stuck my fork in. It is flavorless and again, soooo dry. I again had to toss it. I would say don't waste your money. I am out nearly $15 between my visits and all but my coffee ended up in the garbage. Terribly disappointed in this place.

Yelp
The best banana pudding ever! It's the perfect consistency. No one should go through life without trying some. They also have wonderful baked goods like cupcakes and cookies. Worth every calorie.

Yelp
The German chocolate cake is my favorite! The lemon squares and banana pudding are yummy also.

Yelp
I was on a mission to try a drink and bagel from some place other than the standard Starbucks. As soon as I walked in the door the staff was immediately very helpful and friendly. While they didn't have any bagels, I was pleasantly supersized by the vast sweets selection. I went with a Chai Latte(added a shot of espresso of course!). I also selected the lemon poppy seed muffin, boy was it good! It was moist and not overwhelming as far as lemon flavors go. While there I did try the banana pudding, I must say for someone who is pretty neutral as far as bananas go, I really enjoyed this pudding. I would highly recommend going to this location.
