Highly recommend for anyone with a sweet tooth. 🍬 Can't wait to visit again!

Just visited Magnolia Bakery and had to try their two famous treats: the banana pudding and a cupcake! For Banana pudding , the vanilla custard was smooth and perfectly sweet, with fresh banana slices that added a delightful counterpoint. Magnolia offers a wide variety of cupcake flavors, so there's something for everyone. I went with the classic chocolate , and it was fluffy, moist, and delicious. A few seats were available. The branch is located near American Museum of Natural History.

I finally made my way over to Magnolia Bakery! I got the classic banana pudding as well as the special (strawberry pudding). My favorite was the strawberry pudding. It was creamy, not too sweet and you can definitely taste the strawberry flavor and chunks. The classic banana was as equally delicious. Would I stop in and get it again? Probably not. It didn't really stand out to me. I would, however try out other specials and flavors. My container also had little chunks of pudding all over it. Which I didn't particularly like. Overall if you love banana pudding and don't know how to make it. This is definitely your spot.

I came back here a second time during my 2week stay😅😍🤤🤭🧁 I even forgot to take pics of the carrot cake it was so moist &tasty, also had some custard something 🫣 I just couldn’t wait to get the sweets in my mouth 🤤

Great bakery in a beautiful location, just two blocks away from Central Park! I have had a couple of their items throughout my time in the city, but I really enjoy the banana pudding! I think the banana pudding is one thing that shouldn't be missed when in NYC!

This pastry bakery is worth a visit! The cheesecake is creamy and rich, making it a must-try. And the famous banana pudding — it's simply delicious! I would have given this place a full five stars, but the service left a bit to be desired. The staff member who served us seemed a bit grumpy, I almost felt unwelcome, maybe it was just me unlucky. Overall, highly recommend for the incredible pastries.

Banana pudding lives up to the hype. If you like bananas I definitely recommend. We also tried the s’mores pudding, also so so good. I personally liked the pistachio cake, I thought it was light and fluffy and not too sweet. My friend did not like it as much, she didn’t like the frosting. We did NOT like the chai at all tho, do not recommend.

The banana pudding was really good, and 3 adults shared one container, which was perfect. We sat in the outdoor seating area and enjoyed the dessert while under a shaded area. It was really nice!

They're famous for banana pudding and cupcakes -- both with rotating special flavors -- but our standard order (for 2 to share) is a $7.95 slice of carrot cake or hummingbird cake. My friend is partial to their icebox cakes and cheesecakes too. The desserts are on the sweeter side. It has a classic pastry shop vibe, featuring a bustling baking space for employees, a full-length glass case filled to the brim with goodies to salivate over, and a steady line of New Yorkers filing in for their fix. Oh, and three tables of indoor seating.

Only tried a chocolate chip cookie from here and it tasted incredibly bland. They cookie came in plastic packaging (did not taste fresh) and was cold. Would not recommend for their cookies!

I shouldn't have waited so long to try this! Stopped at the upper west side location after a late lunch & was thrilled that the banana pudding lived up to the hype. Arriving around 4pm ish there wasn't that bit of a line but when I got to the counter I was told they didn't have any banana pudding & had a new batch coming up in about 10-15 minutes. This location is slightly bigger than the original so luckily was able to grab a table & waited the 10 minutes. Totally worth the wait. So creamy & delicious all ingredients tasted fresh. They also have seasonal puddings which I will make sure to try the next time I'm in the area. Magnolia serves a variety of other items that were flying off the shelves. They have all you need to satisfy any sweet craving you may have. Make it a priority to stop by & try that pudding!

Service was very slow but everyone there was super nice! I feel like everything was a bit expensive and small. The classic banana pudding taste good but the red velvet wasn't as good. Overall, not bad.

Ordered German Chocolate cake for delivery. Arrived looking discolored and dry. Tasted AWFUL. There is not a world in which such a reputed bakery should ever send this to someone. Clearly past its prime. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

So I've had these multiples times. It's probably my least favorite place to get cupcakes or cake because the one thing they are consistent about is the quality. The cupcake cake and the cake itself is 9/10 times extremely dry and stale. The icing is dry and flaky. I can't tell if they are selling days old products or if it's a quality control issue. This time was no different. The only reason I visited was because I was looking for treats for other people that actually don't mind this place. They need better quality control, sell leftover item on tgtg? My suggestion if you are looking for better quality magnolia cupcakes, order the ones they make prepackaged through wonder. Is it the preservatives? Maybe that's it not sitting out? But, the pre packed ones are alot better than the in store bakery ones they are more moist. Get the banana pudding here, that's really the one item here that is always good.

Yes in a million different languages. The classic banana pudding was so good; there's a reason why this place is so popular. The flourless cupcake was also delicious! The place itself was really cute with windows all around. The service was mostly good.

so excited to stop by here! their inside was clean and quaint. it was earlier in the morning so there wasn't many people. banana pudding was delicious. pudding was thick and the ratios were great. wish there was a bit more banana though. the chocolate chip cookie was a bit disappointing. nothing spectacular about it

Cute little bakery. The service left much to be desired. The boy at the country was very cold and didn't ask if my husband wanted anything else, which included my portion of the order.... We got the red velvet cheesecake and berry jamboree. The jamboree was soooo good. I don't like blueberry desserts but the nut crust on it really made the dessert! The red velvet cheesecake was good. Nothing to write home about. I would return to try other things!

IMO skip the cupcakes (which are great don't get me wrong) and get the Banana Pudding. Hands down some of the best pudding ever. They often have seasonal puddings too which are fun to try but nothing beats the original banana.

This place sucks they are only good for being open late. That staff don't wanna work here and the treats are inconsistent. Bloomingdale's is better, Bleeker is better.

One of my staple stops whenever in NYC! The classic banana pudding is always a must , but since I'm a fan off all things pumpkin spice I was so excited for this flavor! Boy, it didn't disappoint....amazing flavor with just the right balance of pumpkin spice so that you can still enjoy the banana taste. I would eat this everyday if I lived in NY! This location has about 6-7 tables against the glass so it's a really nice view of the UWS neighborhood. Can't wait for my next trip back.

(Overall: D) - It appears Mangolia Bakery's desserts are all premade numerous days in advance and the lack of freshness is unfortunately quite noticeable. At this rate, I'm not sure why we should go to one of these storefronts to buy such desserts when we can do so at a supermarket instead. (Banana Pudding: C) - Their classic banan pudding is quite delicious and banana forward, but unfortunately the wafers taste like they have been sitting there for a long while and already lost its texture. (Strawberry Shortcake Pudding: F) - This had the same problem as the wafers in the banana pudding, but the strawberries were also discolored and lacked flavor. This magnolia was so good. The service was a 5/5! The banana pudding was so good. I love their seasonal flavors. I had the apple crisp flavor, and it was amazing! Of course nothing is better than the original, but this one was perfection in a cup lol. I try to go for the minis because i need to watch my sugar lol. But, man! It's so good. If you haven't tried yet, definitely give them a try.

Review is just for their cupcakes: Love their banana pudding, however, I think the cupcakes are lackluster. Frosting is too sweet, and the cake itself is nothing special. You're better off getting an actual cake slice, and if something more interesting than chocolate or red velvet. They've got a great pistachio from what I remember!

came here for the hot cocoa pop up and was soooo happy with the pudding. I'm such a big fan of their specialty pudding flavors, and this is one of the best they've had so far! there was a really long line when we arrived, but workers were diligent in attending to everyone. because of how the place is designed, it can get really really crowded when there's a lot of people, as the line starts to jumble up. however, it was still fairly easy to sit down at the tables and enjoy view outside with the large windows. would definitely come to this location again!

Brought him a birthday cake for his birthday on Dec 10 th , because he loves the banana pudding. I got a pudding too. I purchased the large cake for the gathering and was so disappointed. The cake was dry and stale , the buttercream was amazing but the cake was old ! I was so disappointed. No one ate the cake . I still have it in the fridge . The cake I was sold should've been wasted and not for sell to anyone . I dont recommend buying any birthday cakes from them , it's super dry and stale . I was willing to over looked the writing on it, if the quality was as good as the pudding . The quality was horrible on the cake . Don't waste your money buying any birthday cakes from them . It's stale . The pudding was worth it ! The cake however is not .

I did not expect the freshness and deliciousness I experienced on my first visit. I saw they are constantly baking behind the counter, but I thought it was a gimmick. It's not. They have a ton of customers so they need to continuously make a fresh batch. And fresh it is. Everything I tried was to die for! I'm salivating just writing about it! Heck, I gained half a pound just from writing about it! The miss here is the feel of the place. The tables weren't clean, the floor was messy, the place didn't look very organized. It's an easy fix, but as of this review it was a miss for sure.

I absolutely had to try this banana pudding after hearing it was the best in the world ...BUT what really made me push the online checkout button was the fact that they had seasonal pumpkin pudding! And I was not disappointed. It's probably the best pumpkin dessert product I have ever had and I have had a lot! The shipping is quite pricey, but I have to say I got a couple sampler packs and was able to get the pumpkin pudding, a pan of brownies, two pumpkin cupcakes, and 2 cups of banana pudding, which was perfect for what I really wanted to try! It arrived in the cutest box with instructions for each item... I of course, opened the puddings right away and took a bite of each of them and I have no doubt that everyone is right about the banana pudding and the pumpkin pudding absolutely knocked my socks off the addition of cookie butter really makes it something else! I do not like brownies, so my husband had those and he said the buttercream frosting was beautifully light, and fluffy. Order yourself some! It's not to be missed!

Honestly, for the price of almost 5 dollars a cupcake you would expect for them to not just throw them in a box, especially when you're buying $75 worth of cupcakes. The person dropped the box and literally looked at it and fixed two cupcakes and left me with a whole bunch of smeared ones all over the boxes. They don't have any vegan desserts. It's 2024. How do you not have anything vegan at all? The only reason why they got two stars is because this is the place that made the cupcake famous, but I think we should be done with cupcakes now. Inside is cute but small.

An iconic piece of New York. We got the caramel pecan cheesecake. It was very sweet, a little too much, but very good. American sweets are always so sugary, which was this. But I ate the whole thing of course. Plenty of seating inside. Good lighting. Friendly staff.

Never a fan of banana pudding until i had the PLEASURE of someone giving me a spoonful of GOODNESS. The bakery has all types of desserts but I happened to fall in love with Banana Pudding. If you ever come to Magnolia Bakery I recommend you give it a try.

We were told this place had the best banana pudding. So we made it a mission to find it and try it. It was indeed a very delicious banana pudding. I enjoyed the silkiness of the dessert and the flavors were perfectly balanced .The caramel pecan cheesecake also caught my attention I decided to purchase one also, it was also delicious. There were so many things to choose from. The location is not big so there may not be a lot of chairs and tables available service was quick. You just stand in line ask for what you want and they bring it to you other register. There's really no waiting around unless there's a line.

I visited Magnolia Bakery a few days ago to get some cupcakes for my father's birthday. I bought 2 red velvet cupcakes, 1 vanilla cupcake and 1 chocolate cupcake. My father enjoyed the red velvet cupcake and I enjoyed the vanilla cupcake. I'll be saving the chocolate cupcake for my sister. The customer service was quick and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The store was pretty quiet. I'll definitely go back to Magnolia Bakery to try more of their goodies.

I've long heard of Magnolia Bakery and its world-famous banana pudding, but I've never made it a point to go, since I'm not too crazy about bananas. Recently, however, my sister brought home some of their pudding and cupcakes and now I regret not trying this place sooner. * Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pudding Med Magnolia Bakery is definitely more well-known for its classic banana pudding, but knowing that I love anything chocolate, my sister opted for their Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pudding instead. This one was light, airy, and slightly sweet, and as its name suggests, it tastes just like a chocolate-covered strawberry-- with creamy vanilla pudding, roasted strawberries, and layers and layers of rich chocolate cake. * Red Velvet Cupcake This one, I left for the next day, so maybe that's why it's a hard pass for me. The cupcake itself was dry and nothing special, though I did like that it was topped with whipped vanilla icing instead of cream cheese frosting. After finishing the cupcake though, my lips were bright red, so I can't help but question how much red food coloring is in this thing.

GREAT TIME, good place for a late night treat, and the banana pudding lived up to the hype!!!! We ordered the flavor of the month, cookies and cream. It was so good and the banana pudding stayed fresh for a few days after and was continued enjoyment Service was quick and speedy and ambience was nice although we took it to go. We came here for a dessert after dinner and to get away from the old. The place was nicely lit and presentable. They had indoor seating which was great for us to wait out before heading to the movie theater. Service was quick and easy. I didn't know what to expect of this icebox bar that me and my partner ordered, but it exceeded my expectations. The bar featured a nice dense brownie base, a cheesecake layer, and the whipped cream layer. The best part was the caramel drizzle, wafer covered chocolate, and chocolate chips scattered on the top. 10/10 recommend!

Ordered takeout from this spot. Their Key lime was good, perfect amount of tanginess and sweetness, and a good crunchy crust! The cheesecake was creamy and not overly sweet either which I enjoyed as well. Heard they're famous for their Banana pudding. It's a bit too sweet for me and it tasted more like regular creamy sweet pudding with pieces of banana in it, instead of having banana flavor throughout. For someone who likes banana (not me), this might be a little disappointing. But for someone who likes sweet and hint of banana, this can be delicious.

This is just for the banana pudding. I've always heard good things about the banana pudding and so I had to try it. It lived up to the hype in my opinion because I love banana cream pie and it reminded me of that pie. I just ordered a small and it was less than $5 and also a bit filling after a meal. I'm not sure what else is popular, but I'd come back for the banana pudding. It doesn't look very appetizing, but it is.

I love it!!! I came in to pick up some banana pudding for later and even a couple hours later it tasted delicious. It was a quick and easy transaction and when I ate my pudding, it had the perfect mixture of the crunch and softness/creamy-ness. Highly recommend and would come back to this location. I had it one other time at this other location but I think this location was a bit more sweet which I like! I ordered the small which was around $6 and i shared this with my mom and brother. We all had around 4-5 scoops and we finished it. It was the perfect amount because otherwise i feel like if we kept eating it would have been a little too sweet

Must try the banana pudding, it was literally delicious! I was recommended this place solely on this and it did not disappoint. I also had the red velvet banana pudding cookie, which was nice and doughy. Overall, this shop was super cute with multiple other goodies to eat. Staff was nice. There is limited seating, but definitely can't stress how good the banana pudding was.

I can not make a stop at Magnolia Bakery when I'm in NYC. A simple vanilla cupcake with buttercream is to die for. The texture of the cake and the sweetness of the icing are sooo good. I also had a hot cocoa as it is the season and a bit chilly outside. The only complaint is that it's so small inside and there's not enough seating. It's all good though.

My "affair" with Magnolia has been running hot and cold. It started with the West Village location around twenty years ago ( seriously, wow!). The cupcakes were worth waiting on a long line. Then my affair continued in different locations: Rock Center, Bloomingdales, Grand Central, Bryant Park and now UWS can be added. However, the consistency of baked goods is not the same. We stopped by to pick up a cupcake and as with MC locations, the confusion of where to stand to pick up what continues to baffle me. There is a separate line to pick up cupcakes and cakes and there is a line to pick up the banana pudding and pay. We were in the Halloween spirit: I decided to get a confetti cupcake and Rochelle got the pumpkin cheesecake slice to take home. I also took a small banana pudding to go. This is the first MB that has seating, however, very few tables. Here's why this location lost 2 stars: Seating should be for customers and staff should monitor this. One table was occupied by patrons who were not eating and were using a lap top to do work a la Starbucks. There was a table next to them whose seats were gone because a party of five snagged the chairs for their table. The two outdoor tables, were soaked due to the rain. We went back inside and stood near the table with no chairs. Absolutely ridiculous. Now to the product.. seriously the charm and quality of the West Village location deteriorates by location. The confetti cupcake was just plain awful: the cake part was dry and the icing was just too sweet. Really disappointing and sad.. The only positive was the cashier who rang us up; she was peppy and sweet. I can honestly say the only location that has the best or better quality is the Bryant Park location.. On the way to Magnolia we passed Epices bakery and there are others, Billy's and Orwashers, to name a few that are worth exploring. As for the banana pudding I had later in the evening: just blah.. not as creamy and not many bananas. The one I ate at Bryant Park was superb. My affair is over with Magnolia.

Lemon bars. I know everyone thinks about the banana pudding but their lemon bars are the bomb. Just the right size to snack on several times. I just wish they had a location in Georgia.

I came to Magnolia's with some friends on our trip to try the famous banana pudding, as well as a couple of different cupcakes (red velvet and carrot cake), and everything was extremely good. The banana pudding was a standout; it was super fluffy and creamy with a subtle vanilla flavor, embedded with banana slices and wafer cookies that offered a nice textural and flavorful element. The cupcakes were also very good; they were both super fluffy, with the cream cheese frosting really amplifying the flavor to another level. The place also offered plenty of outdoor seating and it was a beautiful day out so it was good vibes all around.

A must try! I got the banana pudding (classic) and the cheesecake! The cheesecake was just okay but the banana pudding was delish! The line was fairly long but went quick! Love it here!

I run across this cute spot in Columbus circle & just loved it. Decor is beautiful, customer service is great. Very clean & inviting! I got some pastries for my son & his friends. They loved them. So on my way coming back I decided to try some & it was yummy! Next time I am on my way to visit them I definitely know where to get some yummy pastries!

Will scratch the dessert itch and it will suffice if you have a craving. Pretty expensive for what it is.

Sweet tooth? Go here immediately. Although they are known for their banana pudding, I opted for their carrot cake pudding as I am a carrot cake lover through and through, and let me tell you - my choice did not disappoint. Decedent, fluffy pudding with a cream cheese flavor chock full of carrot cake crumbles and raisins. This will be a repeat every time I am in the city!!

I love this place! The Carrot Cake is to die for, as is the Banana Pudding! They also add special variations of the Banana Pudding! This week it was Cookie Butter Banana Pudding and it was delicious. I missed the Carrot Cake Banana Pudding, but my son in law said it was so good that he bought extra to freeze! It worked! Who knew!?? My favorite however is always the Carrot Cake. The slices are huge!! It takes me at minimum 3 sittings to eat a whole piece! And like the pudding, it's always delicious, fresh, and never overly sweet ( like other places can be). Lots of choices here, and Either way, you can't go wrong. The cup cakes as are beautiful and delicious as well. We've literally not had anything here that we didn't like. If you're visiting the city, find a location and try at least one of your favorite treats. You won't regret it! This location is a quick walk and a must each time I visit the city. I'd highly recommend it!

It was my first time trying Magnolia and I was so disappointed. Their vanilla cupcake was dry and the banana pudding was mediocre at best. There is also minimal seating inside and it gets very cramped in there since the line gets so long. It is definitely overhyped and overrated.

Tonight made me realize that maybe the world isn't changing and not everyone is illif to help someone because I is h right thing to do , It saddens me that I have to leave this review but if you're going here you need to know that you're spending your money in a place that has insensitive privileged gen z workers who forgot what it's like to be human and are rude disgusting and reckless with their mouths and behavior . Tonight . the girl with the blue eyes behind the counter and another tall light skinned male are disgustingly unhelpful , heartless and down right cold and out of touch with humanity. I really wish I could speak to the owner . I run a domestic violence program where we help women ( with kids or not ) get away from the harmful environments they've found themselves in and help them start their lives over . I'm in the trades so I teach them basic to advance skills so they can learn how to do things and take care of themselves and their families one day with wha I've taught them . I fund most of the program with my own funds that I've saved or make weekly from my check. I don't make a lot so sometimes I need help from wherever I can get it tonight. I went into the magnolia bakery located on the upper west side and I went to go and asked if I could have any of e things that they're throwing out at the end of the night so I can give to the ladies during group sessions or even if their birthdays or kids birthdays that are coming up .some of them never even had a cake. tonight, the lady behind the counter was so rude and acted like she couldn't do it and she said she'd rather throw it out because the policy was that she couldn't do it. Meanwhile, I was there a few months ago and had a great understanding with some of the people working there and they had no problem doing it mind you they throw it in the garbage at the end of the night anyway and I wasn't even asking for massive amounts of things or the pricey stuff . I've been doing this for a year now, but I guess she didn't know because I was away for a few months because the safety concerns from one of the ladies I help rescue. I was in imminent danger so I stood away for a little bit about a couple of weeks ago, I came back and the ladies that were there. had no problem doing so,because it was for a good cause and were throwing heproducts away anyway but it seemed to be Abig problem because the girl behind the counter said, she rather throw it away because she couldn't give it out. Mind you th other workers are so great and it said that they have to pay for the 2 to 3 people who don't even deserve to be in customer service so instead of giving ladies who probably never had a cookie or birthday cake in their life something so small could make them smile after all they've been through and endured, she rather throw it out like she said . It's sad how privileged people like that loose touch with reality. there is another tall, skinny, Caucasian Boy who also thinks it's better to throw it away then help someone . I'm not a bitter salty Karen it just broke my heart to know the kids won't have a sweet dessert tomorrow after group and Luis won't lhave his first hbd sung to Him

Disappointed with my recent visit to this Magnolia location. For years I've made it a point to always stop at a Magnolia Bakery whenever I'm in the city. I have been obsessed with their cupcakes since the very first time I tried them, and I absolutely die over their banana pudding. This time we had a bad experience from start to finish. When we entered the store not a single employee acknowledged us. We stood at the ordering counter for what felt like forever before my husband decided to ask if this was the right place to put in an order. We were told yes, so we requested one salted caramel cheesecake, a half a dozen vanilla cupcakes, and a small red velvet banana pudding. We asked for our order to go because we had two tired children that needed to return to our hotel. Immediately upon arriving at our hotel my husband and I dug into our treats. The cupcakes were the most dry cupcakes I have ever tasted. The frosting had hardened and I wouldn't be surprised if they had been sitting in that case for several days. After the first bite I immediately regretted buying six of them. My kids tried them and didn't even want to take more than one bite and these guys love anything sweet. We were barely able to eat 4 of the cupcakes- we spent over $40 on this order so we tried to eat as much as we could palate. On the bright side my husband loved his cheesecake. Unfortunately I was not hungry enough to want to try his too but I'll take his word for it. The icing on the cake, no pun intended, and entirely my fault and not Magnolia's, was that I didn't even get to try the banana pudding! I saved it in my carryon to bring back to FTL. Turns out TSA doesn't allow pudding... Devastating. I'm not sure I'm done with Magnolia. I'm hoping it was just an off day at this location.

What happened to Magnolia?? I lived in the west village for years and always enjoyed their cupcakes, but since moving to the UWS and...this is the 3rd time I've gone to this Magnolia's on 69th/Columbus and everytime...it SUCKS!! The cupcakes are dry, even gross, and on top of that the nasty, mean-spirited cashiers. Ugh the worst, I've given up, Magnolia is a fossil from the past...let it die. P

More like 3.75 Ah the famous magnolia. I have finally made it here! It's one of those iconic places that's so famous that I put off until a friend is visiting from out town or a friend's wants to go. The place is really bustling on the Friday night that I visited. Really glad that they open late! Got bunch of stuff to go (the original plan was one of each lol): Love the blueberry jamboree bar! It's loaded with whole blueberries on top of super fluffy cream cheese (?) and whipped cream, the cake base has nuts in it which adds another dimension of flavor and texture! Similarly the fully loaded icebox bar really lived up to its name. It was fun to eat - fluffy and light cream topped with myriad of items, the base resembles chocolate cake/brownie. Both cakes (bars as they call it here) are messy in a great way! The key lime cheesecake is very smooth and the hint of key lime adds the perfect zest of refreshness. Perfect for the summer! I was a but disappointed with their most famous pudding though- while I do appreciate and love the creamy and smooth texture, really like that they have fresh fruit chunks (banana and peaches) , but unfortunately both are way too saccharine and my teeth hurt from just thinking about them...

I've had this banana pudding a lot and it's always so good! This location is really nice with seating inside. $5 for a small. My friend got the strawberry shortcake specialty pudding this month and I tried it. It was very good, tasted just like the original but strawberry instead of bananas. Can't go wrong with the banana pudding. An NYC classic.

We stopped in this evening about a half hour before they closed after seeing The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. This place has been on my "must try" list for some time, but we don't have one on Long Island so I waited for this special occasion. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. We got vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet cupcakes as well as banana pudding and a slice of carrot cake. The cupcakes were dry, the carrot cake was bland, and the banana pudding (which they're famous for) was no better than any other I've had. So sad, so disappointed, and I would never go back.
