Needed a relaxing spot for the afternoon and was told we had to go see the Royal Hawaiian and they coincidently have a beach front bar with good drinks! I'm in!!
Didn't know where to park so asked the valet and after he answered our question he added with a smile "that's kind of a long walk or you can valet, it's free". Score! Our initial interaction and when we returned to pick up the car the valet was nothing short of amazing, cheerful, and helpful!
Made our way to the bar and found a delightful table along the beach with a beautiful view of scenery and people! Great spot. Phenomenal server; Dana couldn't have been better! Helpful, informative, and very personable, she was a joy to work with!!
We had several drinks, but started with a taste test for the three of us as follows (see pics for more):
- Vic's 44 - $19 - 2 rums, curaçao, orgeat, fresh like juice. Good and their basic Mai Tai
- Royal Hawaiian Mai Tai - $21 - Fresh pineapple/orange juice, orange curaçao, orgeat, local rums from Old Lahaina distillery on Maui - our collective favorite!
- Ali'i Mai Tai - $ 40 - hawaiian agricole rum, 15 year rum from guyana, dry curacao, freshly muddled pineapple, orgeat, fresh lime juice, topped with our signature coco-loco foam - the coco-loco foam was to die for. Overall it wasn't worth the extra $$ for me.
- White Wash - $ 20 - Lahaina silver rum, dry curacao, orgeat, fresh lime/pineapple juice, topped with a float of old lahaina dark rum and our signature coco-loco foam (foam to die for)
For appetizers we had the Arancini ($16) with truffle risotto, mushroom, panko breaded, truffle aioli, chili thread, pecorino. We also had the Indochine Wings ($29) with twice cooked chicken wing, vietnamese honey reduction, thai basil, cilantro, chili . . . Sweet, spicy (not hot) and not over sauced! Both were very good!
Overall a delightful afternoon filled with delightful staff, tasty drinks, and delicious food! Perfect afternoon!!
